not sure why this place only has 3.6 stars; came here for the first time after i noticed it when i went to truffle poke 2 doors down. me and fiancé decided to try it and will not start coming here more often! We got the schezuan dinner for 2 and boy was it filling! Along with our pictures provided, we got the hot and sour soup, which was the perfect amount for the both of us. We came on a Tuesday afternoon, not busy at all, service was quick; even the food came out quick and hot! It was a good amount of food for 2, the employees were all very kind as well. 10/10 would come here again!

Was in the Belmont area and stopped by for a quick lunch - restaurant was decently filled, and service was nice. Food is good for the most part, but as a Chinese myself, this place cooks more towards American style Chinese food. It's not exactly my cup of tea, but it's also one of the better American Chinese food I've had. I think the kind and attentive service they gave to us and other patrons while I was here really elevates them - very nice atmosphere to be in for the locals!

Gin Mon serves really good American Chinese food. It's not authentic, but it is delicious and the service is good. The prices are also super reasonable for the area.

Pot stickers - delicious!

This establishment has been in Belmont for 30+ years. My husband and I visited for dinner on a Saturday night. The interior is cosy and comfortable, and we were welcomed with efficient service. Beware that the servings are huge! My favorite dish was the chicken lettuce wraps and pot stickers. The chow mein looked amazing. I would describe the food is tailored to the American palate, and served with forks. Happy to support a local business!

Good food, amazing service, wonderful staff. We don't live nearby but we always stop here when we're in the area.

This is the 2nd time I have found plastic in my food and there shrimp are spoiled and mushy

Recently I stopped to pick-up dinner with the plan to have leftovers. I called my order in and was quoted 40 minutes for my order to be ready. My order consisted of salted fish and chicken fried rice (this location has the best around SF and the peninsula), bitter melon beef, chicken chow mein, Thai style fried vermicelli (my favorite dish here), salt and pepper chicken wings. We also received a complimentary bbq pork fried rice. Everything was fantastic and we had plenty of leftovers for a few days.

Big won ton filled w pork and shrimp. Bok choy Broth not much flavor, in a separate container since this was a take-home order. Curry Beef Stew I've never had Curry beef stew before, prefer chicken, curry, but for some odd reason, I decided to order this dish. It was underwhelming and I won't order it again. The Curry sauce itself was OK but the big long pieces of beef were somewhat gross, lots of fat. They added plenty of slices to onions and a few pieces of green pepper and Julienned carrots, but that's about it for being called a stew. So I learned my lesson by not sticking to my usual order, and won't order wonton soup or curry beef stew again.

Food is delicious and flavors are comparable to the popular Chinese restaurants in San Francisco. Dining-in service is always friendly and very attentive. My favorites are Sizzling Braised Tofu, Dry Pot Fish Fillet, Dry Pot Chicken, Sliced Tender Pork Chop with Salt & Pepper, Hong Kong Style Pan Fried Noodles, Braised Dry Green Beans, and Chinese Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. Yan's brings me back to those days. We've been eating here more often over the past few years, and we have our regular dishes: chicken and corn soup, pork chops with Peking sauce, green beans, potstickers, and of course mu shu pork. Not sure who came up with the idea of a tortilla with hoisin sauce wrapped around cabbage, pork, and wood ear, but somehow it works. We usually have leftovers since the portions are quite large. There's other interesting stuff on the menu too (especially the Szechuan dishes) but most of the time we don't have enough room to order them. They also do drinks, and I like the lychee slushee. The staff is super friendly. Happy to have this place within a few blocks of home for some Chinese comfort food.

I had a very nice early dinner at "King Chuan Restaurant" in San Carlos…read more I was there at around 4:30pm, on a sunny Tuesday. I got a tip from another Yelper that the food is good here. My server/waiter was an older gentleman. He offered me a table by the window. The table setting was very thoughtful. They offer chopsticks, but there's also a fork and knife wrapped in a red cloth napkin. They gave me ice water, but I also asked for hot tea. King Chuan has a detailed menu, with several dishes having a brief description. I ordered Wor Won Ton Soup. I asked for dark meat chicken only. They said "no problem." The Wor Won Ton Soup was very good. The soup had napa cabbage, carrots and broccoli. The chicken was tender and easy to eat. It also had pieces of beef and a few shrimp. The broth was light, and not salty. I also ordered the "Hot Dragon Chicken Wings." With a name like that, I expected very spicy wings. The wings were not spicy at all. In fact, I had to add salt to bring the flavor out. I was puzzled as to why these fried chicken wings have a mild flavor if they're served with spicy seasonings. I guess I was expecting something else. Overall, a nice experience. From the first visit, it was clear this isn't an "Americanized Chinese restaurant," but a place that truly understands Chinese cooking, technique, and flavor. What impressed me most were the mushroom dishes. Being able to enjoy mushrooms with such depth and complexity in the U.S. is already rare. The aroma isn't built from heavy seasoning, but from the ingredients themselves, fully brought out. The flavors are clean, natural, and incredibly fragrant--the kind that lingers and keeps you wanting more. It immediately brought back memories of authentic Yunnan flavors. Even more impressive were some of the seemingly ordinary stir-fried dishes. At first glance, they look simple, almost unassuming. One bite in, though, and you instantly understand what real wok hei is. That smoky, high-heat flavor can only come from a skilled chef using proper equipment and precise timing. It's not greasy or overpowering--just deeply aromatic and perfectly balanced. Simple, yet elevated. Overall, this is a restaurant that doesn't rely on gimmicks, fancy plating, or social-media hype. Everything is driven by pure technique and respect for ingredients. Each dish has a clear identity and leaves a lasting impression--not something you just photograph and forget, but something you actually remember. In the Bay Area, where Chinese restaurants are everywhere but truly great ones are rare, Ping's Bistro is a place I'd gladly return to again and again. If you're looking for something different, want to experience real wok hei, or simply appreciate honest, well-executed Chinese cooking, this spot is absolutely worth a dedicated visit.

Or really any quality takeout of any kind. $90 order, ranging from dumplings to basic entrees to rice. Everything was off - slopped together, underseasoned, lazy vegetable chopping (and questionable) choices of vegetable ingredients. No Wok fire/heat evident in any of the entree's and everything was a gluey, flavorless mess. The noodles for the Lo Mein seemed honestly just spaghetti. The orange chicken was dry/old, almost no breading, and honestly didn't taste orangey at all. The kung pao looked like what my 7 year old could have made (when we was seven). More like boiled chicken topped with raw Safeway vegetables, whole peanuts, and a soupy cornstarch soy sauce afterthought. The kicker was they do not have any house made sauces, so if you want good mustard or something edible for dipping - welcome to shitty packet hell as they refused to provide those (if they existed). I'm curious what they do when you're in-house but if I''m paying for the same food I'm not sure why I wouldn't get something besides high-fructose corn syrup garbage stamped out in a factory two years ago. This reflects lack of care to the product and customer experience. Highly unfortunate for an establishment that used to be "decent" as I said.
