    Rainbow Soup Dumplings 6

Very attentive service on a Saturday morning. The sound of Chinese pop music plays quietly in the background just enough you can still hear the lyrics but also the conversation from nearby tables. The dining area is one room, from what I could see, but very clean. You can see the kitchen where there are stacks of steamer baskets used for the soup basket. Some table had printed drinks menu but we got a handwritten one. All the menus are laminated and you're given a whiteboard marker to mark what you would like to order. We ordered some appetizers/snacks along with soup dumplings and the crispy coconut shrimp balls. Shortly after ordering, the side dishes and appetizers appeared. The dough sticks were a simple beige food for the child who happily munched on it. It's a fried dough sticks that didn't seem too greasy. Each half can still break into two smaller sticks for smaller bites. Traditionally it's paired with soy milk but we had already ordered a lot of food. The cucumber garlic salad was crispy, flavorful, and slightly sweet. Little threads of carrot added a bit of textural difference and color. The garlic provided a small bite without overpowering the fish. It's a kid-friendly dish as long as they are okay with cilantro! This is a must order. The scallion pancake with beef with also a huge hit. It's crispy and flaky (but not crumbly) and it's served with slices of beef, what appeared to be some sweet sauce (hoisin maybe?) and thinly shredded scallions. It was similar to Peking Duck but with a scallion pancake and beef instead of the thin pancake and duck. The thinly shredded scallions add a bit of a kick and freshness that counteracts the oil from the scallion pancake. The coconut-crispy shrimp balls were a huge hit. This dish was whole, headless, fried shrimp tossed in a sweet sauce then dusted with shredded coconut, served with some slices of pineapple. It reminded us a bit of mayo-shrimp dishes but with coconut. An order of the chicken soup dumplings were placed just because most of the soup dumplings contain pork. It was recommended over the other non pork shrimp and zucchini dumplings. They don't seem very hot until you get your first big bite. Took a nibble, drank some of the broth, and then with a bigger bite realized there was still more broth! Ginger, soy sauce, and chili crisp/oil is available on the table, but the juicy soup dumplings were perfect on their own. The steamer of rainbow dumplings was also quickly devoured with the black truffle (pork), mala spicy pork, and shrimp/zucchini being the favorites. Each soup dumplings had its own unique taste. Upon hearing the shrimp/zucchini was liked because it was refreshing, an order of those were also placed. Once they arrived, I had to agree they were very good. They have a different taste and texture and even though I thought the chicken was good, I found myself quickly devouring the steaming soup dumplings. While we ate, our drinks were constantly refilled and we were asked if we needed anything, even ginger slices. With the clean, prompt, service that comes along with delicious foods, we're bound to come back to try the other foods!

Came in on a Saturday night and it was pretty quiet and spacious. We were greeted immediately and we were able to sit down immediately once entering in the restaurant. The food was so delicious and the portions were quite large. Every bite was flavorful, thankfully I was able to try out my wife's food as well, which was also really good. I will definitely be coming back for more.

Couldn't decide what for dinner tonight so we stopped by district dumplings to check it out. I've only been here for a few months, but it's nice to know that dumplings and dim sum is so close.. We ordered the rainbow soup dumplings and was totally impressed. This is a wonderful start to try each different dumpling and discover which one is your favorite . Mine is probably the mala which is spicy pork. We also ordered the pork fried dumplings, which were meaty and delicious . Service was impress, helpful without being overbearing. We will definitely add this to one of our favorite places in this shopping center.

Was on the hunt for something new and stumbled across this place. Hands down, one of the best soup dumpling places in the DMV and very well worth the drive into Germantown for a visit. Recommend getting the assorted soup dumplings (pork, crab & pork and the truffle are so freaking good) to figure out what full order you want. Also really loved the pork wonton with chili and peanut oil and pan fried pork dumplings which aren't actually fried bao (like how it is at other places) they also serve some rice and noodles dishes and even reg take out American classics like general tso which I hope to try on my next visit. The drinks are also super good (Korean pear sparkler is non alcoholic and refreshing). Plenty of parking and service was solid. Highly recommend if you have a xiao long bao craving and want something different (and imo better than the MoCo classics of bobs and shanghai).

Worth trying this place out! My mom and I went to grab dinner and we got: - Rainbow Soup Dumplings - Pork Pan Fried Buns (6) - Pork + Shrimp Shumai (4) - Wontons in Peanut Butter Spicy Sauce with Pork & Vegetable (8) Everything tasted delicious and I love being able to try out all 6 flavors of the soup dumplings at once. Our favorite was the crab meat & pork and black truffle (pork). We got handed a menu where we can mark how many we want of different items for the servers to take. And the food all came out pretty quickly. The only thing I hope they can expand on is their vegetables section. They only had 2 options to choose from. We went on a Sunday evening so it wasn't too busy but I also think it's probably cause it's a fairly new place (it replaced Bonchon). Not too loud which is always a plus :) Plenty of parking which is always a win in my eyes haha

My sister and I finally made it to this restaurant. It is their first dine-in restaurant. I have not been to their other locations. Restaurant is bright and roomy. Plenty of party. The service was wonderful. The menu is a smaller side - but working g on a dine-in version instead. We are a complete scallion pancake snob. Although this is closer to the authentic one, it could use more scallions. We dif like the crispy, flicky layers, yey soft center. The cucumber and garlic was light and refreshing. The salty rice roll- the ratio of filligs to rice could be higher but it was tasty. Chicken soup dumplings were excellent however, they were not saved with gingers. We has ask for them and they brought very minimal amount. That was a disappoint. The pan fried pork buns were excellent. Overall, it was a good experience.

Everything we ordered were tasty. Rainbow soup dumplings (like a dumpling sampler) make their menu somehow unique and there's an instruction on how to eat them. The stir-fry noodles aren't oily like chow mein or similar types of noodles. It's more on the softer boiled in broth like thing, huge cuts of mushroom but tasty! My daughter wasn't a fan though because it was a kind of soupy. Shumai was meaty and filling. Cucumber salad is good but I've tasted better ones. These times, it's considered to be an affordable place to eat. Good with groups. Servers were nice. Ample parking available. Bathroom isn't in its best shape but acceptable. Located near an Asian store and boba place so that's a bonus.

So excited that I finally got to try this place out! Went here for dinner on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty so we were seated right away. Our server was kind and explained the menu to us. I ordered the beef noodle soup bowl and soup dumplings to share. The beef noodle soup was good but could use a little more salt in my opinion. I liked the beef though; it was very tender. The soup dumplings were amazing! Plump and delicious. I like how the soup broth inside didn't burn my tongue haha. I'd come back for those and one of the rice dishes next time. It's so nice to have this place in the Germantown area so I don't have to go all the way to Rockville for soup dumplings!

New dumpling restaurant that seems to have taken over where Bonchon chicken used to be. We ordered the rainbow dumplings and pan fried pork dumplings. The rainbow dumplings were great for photos but some of the flavors were a bit strange, I wasn't a big fan of the mala spicy one and the shrimp and zucchini. The best soup dumplings were the original pork dumplings and crab & pork dumplings, which were juicy with generous portions of meat. But the real star of the meal was the pan fried pork dumplings - they had a perfectly crispy bottom and juicy meaty interior. The ambiance is okay, typical of a fast casual restaurant. The service was very friendly and attentive and parking was free and plentiful right by the restaurant. Pricing was a bit expensive, the rainbow dumplings were $14 for 6 dumplings, but it wasn't too crazy.

Tried Dumpling District for the first time and it was a really nice experience. I ordered the the fried rice which was great and rainbow dumplings--they were fun, unique, and colorful, but I do wish they had a bit more flavor. The service, though, was excellent! The staff was super helpful especially since it was my first visit.

Can you get full on dumplings? Yes, if you order almost the entire menu. We started with the rainbow soup dumplings filled with delicious broth. I liked the Japanese ladles instead of the soup spoons because it could catch all the broth once you take your first bite into the soft dumpling skin. We got other items besides the fried pork buns and pot stickers. The scallion pancakes were too flaky. It just fell apart the second I picked it up. Cucumbers with garlic sauce was very refreshing. It is a cold dish and the cucumbers were fresh and had a crunch. I ended up eating some of it with the noodles with scallion sauce. The two dishes complimented each other quite well. We also tried one of the rice dishes. The sweet and source pork ribs over rice made it a complete meal. Note: Some dishes were not available last night due to the fact that it was a grand opening. They are the braised beef noodle soup and braised pork ribs over rice. Service was fantastic!

Nearly missed the restaurant during opening weekend, due to the old Bonchon sign. I'm glad I got my bearings! Came here to celebrate my young daughter birthday. She wanted rice coins and dumplings and loves to try new places. We were able to reserve a large table for the extended family. This came in handy as the restaurant filled in quickly. The hype is real as patrons were happy all around. The staff worked hard to make everyone feel accommodated throughout the night. The food was Great and better than the other locations we tried. Everything was delicious!

Recently, my friend was organizing a casual gathering for our friend group, and asked ChatGPT if there were any good recommendations for food in the area that was affordable and delicious, and A&J came up as a top choice. So I came back to A&J after almost 10 years, and the food was just as good as I remembered. The decor remained simple and unchanged, but this is very typical of Asian restaurants. The menu was large, and it's easy to order by circling items you want on the paper menu. We had a mix of noodle soup bowls (so many different flavors and styles) and appetizers, and everything we tried was delicious. Our bill came out to less than $25 per person with tip. I could imagine more pretentious Chinese restaurants downtown upcharging a lot more for lower quality Chinese food (Queen's English, for example). It was so good and affordable, that I actually ended up coming back the next day with a different friend. Overall, excellent experience, and I will be back again soon! One interesting tidbit, my coworker who grew up in the Midwest and only eats meat, potatoes, absolutely no vegetables, started going here for lunch and loves it. For most of the entrees, you can get your choice of protein with a cost of plus or minus a dollar or two depending on what you choose. The entrees don't come with rice. White or fried rice is 50 cents. Brown rice is $1. Not unreasonable. Some people don't eat rice. We shared one fried rice and it was plenty. And it's good. I got the hot and sour soup and my partner got the egg drop. The hot and sour emphasis here is on pepper and spice. The egg drop had a nice, rich egg flavor. The entrees each were good. The kung pao dish comes with asparagus, green/red pepper snd mushrooms. The peppers were nice and crunchy. Very good. The pork dish is heavy on the ginger, but very good. The spring roll was "ok". The soup came out right away and was really good. My entree took an extremely long time though. And I was immediately unimpressed with the pork belly. I absolutely love this place! Everything we order always hits. From the cucumber salad, to the…read morenoodles, to the pancake. Everything is absolutely delicious. But I gotta say, my all time favorite dish is the cucumber salad. OMG I could eat it all day everyday. It is just so perfectly seasoned, spicy, refreshing, ugh I loveeee it. The hand pulled noodles are always so good. We've had the noodle soup which is also so good. Literally everything they make is good And besides Bobs Shanghai, I am certain these are the best xiaolongbao I've had in MOCO! They are BIG, juicy, soupy, meaty and so yummy. I don't like that they always forget to give us the vinegar sauce but we ask for it anyways. Highly recommend!!

The pork buns alone are worth the order…read more Got this delivered via Uber Eats and honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm glad I took the chance. Ordered the beef combo knife slice noodle soup, pork soup dumplings, pork wontons with homemade spicy sauce, and the pan fried pork buns. The pan fried pork buns were the clear MVP here, perfectly crispy on the outside with that satisfying crunch, but soft and fluffy inside. Super filling too, which is always a win in my book. The beef noodle soup was solid comfort food with good portions, and the dumplings hit the spot. Only minor thing - I wished the "spicy sauce" had more kick to it. Could've used some extra heat, but that's me being picky. For the price and portion sizes, this place delivers (pun intended). You're getting a solid amount of food that actually tastes good. Would definitely order again, and those pork buns are going to be a repeat item for sure.
