Food is still delicious but So 2nd time back and had a whole 180 degree experience because the first time I came I was attended by the wife I assume who cooks everything in the back she was very hospitable and kind so overall had a good experience but this time I'm attended by the Owner which at every turn made it uncomfortable or awkward ..... here's my experience with the owner 1. The place was empty so I picked where I wanted to sit but when the owner came to take my parties order we were told to sit at a specific table which was weird because there was no one else dining in and even after we left no one else came to dine in 2. We asked if we could do the 8 dumpling order into a half and half for meat choice but he immediately shut us down rudely saying "no only one so what meat!?" ... simple question because we also didn't want to over order food if we can only pick one meat choice 3. When he comes around to drop off the food at our table he rudely again tells us "move your things!" Mind you we were gonna move aside the drinks so he has space to drop off the food 4. There's about 9 tables maybe inside the small shop to dine in and they only have 1 bottle of soy sauce and sriracha for everyone to share which I think it's cheap of them because the owner makes sure for you to put it back immediately so now I have to get up back and fourth after every use because I don't wanna spray the sauce all over the plates to avoid getting up 5. As we finish one of the plates he comes awkwardly to hover around us for like 6 seconds before taking an empty plate which made us uncomfortable because we weren't sure what he was planning to do since he never said a word during that like "can I take that plate for you" etc.. 6. Lastly I just wanna say this food is delicious and I get why anyone who comes through that door asks to get their food to go because of how comfortable the environment is with the owner sitting at a table watching videos on his phone at max volume getting up and down constantly kinda keeps you on edge so if I do return it will definitely be for carry out read more

I love dumplings, so this was the perfect place for me. I brought a friend here while she was visiting LA. It was a weekday, so there were only a few other people at the restaurant-- perfect. We were able to catch up in peace, and enjoyed great, speedy service. The dumplings were delicious and we received ample portions for the price. And it's vegetarian friendly! What an amazing place. One of my newly found, favorite Koreatown restaurants with vegan options. Their serving of Veggie King Size Dumplings is massive (it might be or might not be vegan, watch the video). If ordering solo, it's enough for two meals. The deep fried veggie dumplings are a must, and depending on how I'm feeling might be my go-to. The handmade noodle soup and Korean pancakes can be veganized and are danky! Haven't heard of anyone else making vegan Korean Pancakes, so this should be a crazy culinary experience. I don't get the hype. My friend and I ordered a variety of items: steamed, pan-fried, shumai, soup dumplings and even ramen but everything tasted bland and bleh. Additionally, we were ordering a lot of items because my (guy) friend and I were hungry. As I was choosing the last item, the man taking our order said "oh he doesn't look too happy because he has to pay" which left a bad impression overall because 1) I was paying and 2) We were ready to chow down after a long day. Even if someone was there with a date, why would you say that to your customers? Oh how I wanted to love this place! The YouTube video, the reviews, the stars. All hype. The service: it's literally a mom and pop so I'm giving 4 stars for trying. The food: 1 star Shrimp dumplings-- not fresh tastes bitter and dry. Pork dumplings (bao) -- not fresh tasted dry yet undercooked and sour. The dough was thick and falling apart. No soup inside. We waited but still was not enough to prevent burned tongues (any other true dumpling place will not serve them boiling straight from the steamer, you're supposed to cool them like pasta before plating ugh). The pancake was dry inside. No flavor. Someone gave them 4 stars and said it's convenient and comforting "because dumplings are not meant to be flavorful" man, you just haven't had the real ones: flavorful and comforting. The spring rolls were the only thing we kinda liked, they remind me of the frozen ones from Asian markets anyway. Which btw id recommend frozen dumplings from the market over these any time. Compared to places like 101 or Din Tai Fung it's almost a little sad that ppl gave this place all these stars lol. The first time I ordered to go, I picked up my food without any issues. Today, we decided to sit down and had the pleasure of experiencing the dumpling man, who reminded me of the Korean, Dumpling Natzi version to Seinfeld's the Soup Natzi. First, he yelled at me to move my water out of the way so he can put my order down...then as I take a bite to eat of my dumpling, he asked if I ordered shrimp or pork. When he realized he got the order wrong, he demanded that I put the dumpling on my dipping plate back in his hands!! I'm not making this up. This really happened. So delicious, I went back twice in a week. During COVID I definitely want to support more local, minority-owned businesses. Dumpling house is delicious, whether you live in the neighborhood or need to go a little out of your way. I read the reviews and thought we might find some really good dumplings, my family wasn't too excited with the flavor. The king size dumplings are too big to enjoy and they were overpowered with ginger that is all we could taste. I was a fan of the fried rice but not the shrimp in it as it was super chewy. Some of the best dumplings I've had! Super fresh, not chewy or unflavored fillings. I ordered the kimchi steamed dumplings and the veggie pan-fried ones. One night, I was stoned and got a bigtime craving for dumplings. I didn't want to schlep out to SGV so I looked on Yelp to find the closest restaurant to me (Silverlake area) serving dumplings. I stumbled upon this place and took a $5 Uber ride over. I went in with pretty low expectations, thinking Korean dumplings wouldn't be as good as ones you'd get at the dim-sum spots. Wrong.These are some of the best dumplings I've had and they're made by hand, practically right in front of you. The owner is super nice and also BYOB friendly. My friends and I have definitely been taking advantage of that. Well, not taking advantage, but you know... I've now eaten here several times and have tried almost everything on the menu. Mehhh, overrated. Ended up coming here randomly with my wife. Self seated which is cool, it's a hole in the wall. Mom and pop kind of spot which I can appreciate. But grumpy old man is a dick, simply rude dismissive. It's chill if the food is good but really, it's nothing special. Ended up coming and getting an order of the meat "king" steamed dumplings which are basically baos, six pieces for $11. They weren't exactly huge (definitely not as big as the ones from Myung Dumping) and lacked the beefy and porky punch I was expecting. The majority of the inners were noodles which was extremely disappointing. On the other hand, the fried porks dumplings stood out, crispy and with decent flavor and good texture, eight pieces for $10. It was disappointing that kimchi banchan wasn't included with the meal. The meal did come with a small side of radish. After we finished our radish, we inquired for more and was basically told one per table. Kind of weird because most places are willing to give you more (you kind of need the pickles to cut through the grease). Anyway, the menu is vast and I'll come back to check the rest of the menu but when you tie in the service, relatively expensive pricing, and the lack of refills on very simple banchan, I'm not sure this place is that great. Super tough here because the dumplings weren't necessarily for me, but there was nothing wrong with them and the owners were super friendly. Also, had them about an hour after ordering them, which isn't fair, but will re-review after having a hot one. The kids liked the big beef ones. I had a veggie one which was decent. Had the kimchi ones, which were fun, but not spectacular. We all really enjoyed the shrimp shumai and the red bean was good. There is a lot of dough on all of them though. Dumpling House is a mom-and-pop hole-in-the-wall with fluorescent lights and a simple menu. It's one of very few places in Koreatown where you can find a number of vegan dishes (they're not labeled vegan, but the friendly woman who runs the place understands the term vegan and can confirm which dishes contain egg or fish or meat). We got the vegetable steamed dumplings ($8) which were tasty enough, but nothing special. The innards got a bit mushy and consisted of cabbage and leeks. The vegetable handmade noodles dish ($11) was more interesting and unusual. The broth in this dish is vegan and has a subtle savory flavor. This a great dish for a cold night, but somewhat bland and akin to chicken soup. Leeks and potato are the only vegetables in the dish. The vegetable pancake ($9) can be made vegan if you ask for it without egg. This was a tasty, but oily and heavy, dish that mixed well with everything and had an omelette-like texture. The service is extremely friendly and the prices reasonable for the large quantity of food. I'll be back to try out a couple other dishes. read more

I rarely venture into this part of town, but stopped in with a friend because of the great reviews. Very busy street and a small parking lot, but was lucky enough to get a space right in front. I ordered the Kimchi fried rice, pork dumplings, and veggie dumplings. Food came out fast and there was lot of filling in each dumpling and they were very tasty. I eat a lot, but the food was filling enough that we were able to still take some leftover food home. Very good prices, no frills, just good dumplings/buns. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be sure to hit this place up again. read more

I had this place bookmarked for a while and finally made my way there today. The place feels homey and the hostess was very friendly (though she was often not in the dinning area so it was hard to flag her down when I wanted the check). I got the King Dumplings (Pork & Beef) which are technically meat buns not dumplings. The order came with 6 decently sized buns. They were steamy and seemed to be fresh. The dough was perfect and tasted freshly made but the filling was very disappointing. It was stuffed with more glass noodles than meat... and was very bland. The buns came with a sauce and some pickles on the side. It was difficult for me to eat them plain... I would consider coming back here for other dumpling things because they seem to make everything fresh here... I just hope the fillings on the other dishes are better... read more

When we came in, they didn't have half the menu including the kimchee dumplings everyone raves about. I walked in first and sat down, put in an order for my boyfriend and I and the old man took the menu. Now, when my boyfriend came in (maybe the old man saw things I couldn't) because, when he asked for a menu to add more food the man THREW the menu at him. LMFAO He ordered the food, and then the old guy SNATCHED that menu away from him. I said "Do you know him from somewhere?" I came to this dumpling house yesterday when I was so so hungry and it gave me everything I wanted. It is a pretty small store with self serve drinks. It was quiet when I came around 5pm. My boyfriend and I ordered steamed vegetable dumplings, steamed chicken dumplings, and fried vegetable dumplings. Only one dumpling remained when we finished eating. It was tasty and fast. We didn't get bothered when we ate which I liked. The food was brought to use and so was our check and those were our only interactions with the man there which I personally prefer haha. It's hilarious reading the obnoxious reviews on the service here, it's absurd that people in LA expect everyone to conform to their standards of service. Maybe for once all you self absorbed people should realize that this city is filled with multiple cultures that dont need to cater to your BS. The food here is AMAZING and I was expectingly greeted by a man too busy for small talk. Korean dumplings really leave something to be desired. The skin is too thick, the meat poorly seasoned, the prices way too high. I thought I found a gem with this place, but it was simply not great. The hand pulled noodles were simple and peppery. The kim chi pancake was just batter and kim chi for $10 The dumplings themselves could have been crispier if fried, saltier if it had meat. Just wasn't there. If you love Korean dumplings, check this place out, but for those used to the Chinese version, it's going to be very disappointing. read more

TLDR; great food, large portions, and service from lovely ahjummas who'll remind you of home Dumpling House is one of those rare places that will make you feel right at home. The noodle soup is a standout for me -- the broth is really hearty and rich in flavor and reminds of my own mom's cooking. Each portion is really big. I'd recommend splitting one bowl between two people so you can try other food as well. The king-size steamed dumplings are a bit of a misnomer since they're basically steamed buns/bao, but you get a lot of food for $7.99. There's a small free parking lot that fills quickly on weekend afternoon. Service is pretty quick, although you can can tell that they're understaffed. The ahjummas are really sweet and will constantly check to see how you're doing. Our waitress did the most mom-thing possible and tied my to-go bag for me when she saw that I left it open so that we wouldn't spill anything. read more

Dumpling house definitely has the home feel and tastes just like your Korean umma just cooked up a fresh batch of mandu for you. I tried the scallion pancake, and kimchi mandu. Both were amazingly satisfying. Definitely come here with 3 or more people so you can order more items to try! You can come buy frozen dumping to bring home as well. All made in house! Were looking for some good dumplings and OMG did we find them. This place was amazing best dumplings I've had. Be aware that there is only two employees. Wife and husband. Husband takes orders and wife makes then in the back. Wait time was long because everything is made fresh but so worth the wait. We had a very satisfying dumpling smorgasbord after a day at the spa. They have so many dumplings, all very solid. These are not omg to die for gourmand dumplings, but delicious hand made by your family member type dumplings. If I remember correctly there's 8-10 tables that seat 2-4 people. It's a small place. Order at the counter for take out, or grab seat for some friendly table service. They have ALL the Pellegrino flavors and sparkly waters. What I thought of the food: Meat King Size Dumplings pork/beef: nice fluffy dough wrap with okay flavor on the inside definitely needs something to dip it into. I don't support businesses like this. The guy owner was extremely rude to the customers and his wife who works in the kitchen. It was an unpleasant experience dining here. I ordered the steam dumplings and the beef tofu soup. The dumplings had zero flavors, it was bland. I grew up eating dumplings and this was no way up to the Asian standards. The tofu soup however was good, the portion size is right for $13.99. The most ridiculous thing was the guy owner told me there is a charge for extra cabbage kimchi. That was a first. The sweetest lady works at the front. Other people mentioned her in their posts and I now see why. So helpful and patient with my indecisive-self haha. I wanted to order two things so I could have half for lunch and have the next day. I was in the middle of moving so I was trying to avoid cooking. I saw their veggie buns and how huge they were, so I went with that plus their fried dumplings. The fried ones were really good and filling! The buns were HUGE! You could definitely make 2-3 meals out of that alone, which I did. Make sure to ask for more sauce to go because it's really good and I wish they gave you more. Love, love, love this place! This place is so good that I've been several times and even brought my parents. I'm vegetarian and am so glad to find a place that offers veggie dumplings. It was 8 pieces for $8. They have "normal" ones that are boiled or fried. They also have king size ones and the dough kinda reminds me of the texture of Chinese bao. I also had a veg pancake as an appetizer and it was good but next time, I'd probably just get another order of dumplings. It is kinda a hole in the wall in a strip mall but the best kind! It is very clean and the owners are very friendly. Parking is free and I've never had a problem finding parking. But I could see it being a problem during busy times. There is a parking lot attendant who will help you find a space. There are a couple other restaurants in the same strip mall. Avoid!!!!!! We threw out 3/4 of this food! It's as if you took $70 from us for this over cooked macaroni and egg roll stuff! Woman said spicy beef Ramyun (not spicy) would be "spicy beef soup with noodles". NOT. Overcooked huge noodles stuffed in a plastic container - looked like Italian spaghetti over butchered with something that looked like thick pasty red sauce $16. No soup as she claimed! The egg rolls were way over cooked too - mush! Just bad bad food. Shumai - tiny tiny nothings. I hate we were sucked into losing $70 for low low quality based on what I thought were good reviews - where were those cooks? If Dumpling House doesnt care about quality and pass off low end stuff to me once Dumpling House will never get a second chance w/me. Quality was 0! Thick noodle dough and overcooked mush! I will certainly avoid Dumpling House!!!!!!! I must admit: People were very nice though and we really wanted to like them based on that. Should have taken this stuff back but we had driven 45 minutes to Dumpling H. and 45 back to home & then werealized we had thrown away $70 on this low quality overcooked food.
