Dumpling time is SOOO GOOD!! I love this place so much. I've been here twice and was blown away both times. I sat inside during the first visit and the decor was very cute and modern. The second visit, I sat outside and the chairs were really comfy. The servers were so attentive and friendly. They even brought some water for my dog! For the food, I've tried the crispy tofu, both types of xiao long bao, green beans, chicken gyoza, and shrimp toast. I can't even name a favorite!! They all came out piping hot and tasted so fresh. The xiao long bao were so good, and the tom yum version was such a great twist on it!! I love the green beans very much, they're so flavorful and crispy. Of course I loved the shrimp toast, can't go wrong with that. The crispy coating on the gyoza was so good. Overall, I love this place and will be taking all of my friend here!! My daughter and I really enjoyed our lunch today! We ordered the Beijing noodles, the chili pork dumplings, and the shrimp toast. The shrimp toast was very different from anything we've had before. The sever was a lady with short brown hair and skin tight pants and black shirt with absolutely no personality! She never asked how things were or refilled water. On her phone entire time in between customers. Actually left the building to get her coffee and pastry order across the street at Pete's coffee with no one else in the place to service people. came here on thursday after work and there was no wait. every time we've walked past the restaurant, we've seen queues so that was a nice surprise! for 2 people, we ordered: -shrimp & pork siu mai - 4/5 -chili pork dumpling - 3/5 -XLB - 4/5 -southeast fried rice noodles - 2/5 there's a QR code to scan to see the menu but an actual waiter will come by to take your order. service was quick. overall, food was okay for the price point. we've had tastier for cheaper (liang's village in cupertino is one of our favs but quite far from us). the food will fill you up but also leave you wanting a bit more, flavor-wise. we're still on the hunt for a good dim sum restaurant in the area so likely won't be back. if we do visit again, we probably won't order the southeast fried rice noodles again as that was the least impressive dish of the bunch. read more

I really liked the food, service, and dining space. There was one dish (the chili pork dumplings) that felt a little plain for my liking, but other than that everything was great. I personally really loved the Beijing noodles-- slurped them all up!! We were in the outside seating when it was sunny, and it was such a nice time. Try getting those tables under the overhang of the building; they're perfect. Our server was incredible with basically picking what to eat from the menu based on what flavor and meats we wanted. Surprisingly flavorful dishes for a chain restaurant with a single-sheet laminated menu. The Maine lobster siu mai was pricey, but one juicy bite in & you'll realize it's totally worth it - this is seriously legit elevated dim sum! Food was delicious overall. If I had to pick one standout feature, it's the perfect texture & taste of the fillings. From the pork & veggie potstickers/gyoza to the lobster siu mai, and even the shrimp paste that sits atop Chinese donuts for first-rate inventive shrimp toasts, all of the dishes' "meaty parts" were cloud-light concoctions that gave you juicy flavorful bites without that weightiness of meat that often accompany Asian foods (and make you dread the possible indigestion to follow an hour or so later!). Took the parents and the pup there after a nice walk plus off-leash romp for the pup, sat outside in the cute & comfy patio with the whole family (pup included)... A perfect & satisfying lunch. Food: Needs salt. Not authentic. Thick wrappers. The gelatin was also not cooked down in our XLBs. Not a single dumpling had the aromatic, silky broth, you expect with a soup dumpling. Meh. I had the xioa long bao which were served in foil cups- never a good sign. They were okay if you like no ginger in your xlb. The ones I buy frozen at Trader Joe's taste better. Flavor was nice, but the beans were old. Then the edamame came. Same issue: ok flavor but, man, those edamame were older than I am (and I'm older than dirt). I love this place. I just wish they had more outdoor seating. It's such a ridiculously small space considering there's so much available space on the patio and the tables are only tiny little tables outside. The location in San Francisco has crispy shrimp balls that are amazing! I keep hoping they will eventually add them here. Nina and I met here for lunch today. She got here first and put our name in. There was about a 20-30 minute wait. It took me a little while to find it but I called her and she gave me directions. Once I saw it I realized I had seen it a while ago when it was under construction, but heading there today I had conceptualized it as being sited differently than where it was. We sat outside on a convenient bench and waited to be called. There's indoor seating and outdoor. We preferred inside, because it had been raining earlier, but when we were called, the host said it would probably be another 15 minutes wait for indoor seating. Since there was an umbrella covering the table we would have, we decided to take the chance. Before I sat down I wanted to use the bathroom. As I was searching, a young woman server intuited what I was looking for and directed me up the ramp, through the door and to the left. She reassured me that there was no alarm on the door. There are two gender neutral bathrooms, both w/ beautiful turquoise ceramic floor tile set in an interesting pattern, and white subway tile wainscotting. Back at the table, we were given menus. My friend Peg S. had recommended the garlic green beans in her review, so I suggested them to Nina. In addition we ordered siu mai, pork xlb and chicken gyoza. To drink we ordered a pot of chrysanthemum tea to share. The green beans came out first and smelled fabulous, even from yards away outdoors! There was a generous portion, enough that we couldn't finish them. The siu mai was delicious, 4 to an order. The xlb came each in a little aluminum pan, 6 to an order, so we each had 3. My only complaint about the xlb was that the wrapper stuck to the tin in places and tore so the soup spilled out when I tried to remove it. The gyoza were very tasty, 5 to an order, w/ an attractive, lacy presentation connecting them that neither of us had seen before. The tea was very good. Celine, our server, offered us more water for the pot but what we had was sufficient. Our only complaint was that the tables were quite close together so we couldn't talk at the level of intimacy we normally would. I'm not sure whether the indoor tables are more widely spaced. I hope so. Nina took the rest of the green beans home. It was a good lunch w/ lovely service and we both enjoyed it. read more

The dumplings are nothing special, the green bean dish was super oily and the pickled lotus root was under cooked and super sour. It was close to $70 for lunch!!! I ordered multiple orders of dumplings for Sunday football and drove home with my partner ready to indulge... except not only did they NOT PUT ANY CHILI OIL OR SOY SAUCE in the bag; they did not put any condiments in the bag at all and when I called to let them know the manager couldn't care less... when I said I would write a yelp review she said "pathetic". She was hostile ,rude, and unprofessional. I have been eating at DT since their first days on Division street in SF. I will not order from the Berkeley store again. I try and fall on the side of generosity when doing Yelp reviews because I know how difficult the restaurant industry can be. And everyone is trying their best. But I really can't overstate how disappointing the food and service were here. Another review said that the XLBs basically tasted on par with frozen ones you can get at the store and I honestly thought, ok they gotta be exaggerating. But unfortunately not. :( It really wasn't very good at all. The tom yum dumplings were the saving grace of the meal, but even those the wrapper wasn't that great, even thought the filling was very nice. In terms of service, they 100% prioritize takeout orders. Which is their prerogative. But for it to take 30-40 minutes for a single dumpling order to make it to our table while we saw no less than 15 take out orders get bagged and sent out the door during this time. We were sitting right by the kitchen order pickup and packing area so we just saw an onslaught of meals coming out, almost none of them for dine in customers. So I guess if you want to order take out, this is a good spot. They hustle through those orders. But very weird to be sitting with no food and all the tables around us also waiting on food for a food while. They also served the soup dumplings in these little tins, and the wrapper would get stuck to them and split while trying to get them out. I figure they put them in these tins to make it easy to quickly pack them up for takeout orders, but to me it makes no sense to serve them like this for dining in.
