    Green Curry

Really cozy and underrated spot in the Marina. I've come a few times to Baan Yaai, often on a weeknight evening post-workout with a friend, and I've always enjoyed my meals here. It's usually not super busy and often there's a family or big group dining in. Green curry here is solid, but the Pad Kee Mao is quite good -- would definitely get that again. Omurice was also surprisingly creamy and delicious. The inside doesn't have a ton of seating but the service is friendly and appreciate a good Thai place in the Marina.

Ordered for pickup and ordered pad thai with chicken and the thai style omurice (first time seeing this on a menu in SF so i was super curious!) The pad thai came with a few pieces of tofu and chicken which confused us, and it also was mostly noodles. I would've liked to see more protein. But the serving itself was huge so we saved the leftover noodles for another meal. I liked the crab fried rice -- it had a good amount of crab, but the eggs were not soft scrambled as advertised. Still pretty tasty and the rice was delicious under! And it was also a large serving. The inside looked cute and intimate for dining in -- cozy seating inside and very lively on a weekday evening.

Was struggling to find some good Tom Kha in Boston and happened to stumble upon this little gem while visiting SF. The soup was rich, flavorful, and came out fast. The Thai tea was also smooth and perfectly sweet. Quick, delicious, and definitely worth coming back for.

We easily got a table for 7 on a Saturday around 7pm! Service is fast and friendly. Cute decorations! I loved the coconut ice cream and mango sticky rice desserts! Not too sweet, very creamy, and flavorful.

Green curry - this was a standout dish. Most flavorful green curry I've ever had. Full of veggies and lots of meat too. This is the real deal Roti - this was a letdown. Very greasy, not flaky. Just mushy interior. Papaya salad and pad kee mao were both tasty! The papaya salad was served with a bunch of raw cabbage on the side which was odd though - not very tasty.

Classic, delicious thai food in a very cutely decorated setting. It's a little bit hard to fit big parties here, but we were able to sit at tables next to each other. Service was quick and helpful!

I've been here before & it was good but was a little disappointed with my last visit. It could be because I came later in the day closer to closing time but the noodles weren't very hot and tasted a little stale or like they had been left out for a bit. The service was very friendly though so I appreciate that and they were polite about us being there an hour before closing. Two of my friends got the chicken noodle soup because it was a cold day and they finished all of it so that was probably worth trying! Ambiance is great and not too loud. Nice smaller restaurant to catch up with friends.

Cute little 'street food' thai joint owned and operated by a mother/daughter combo. Flavors were authentic -- and the hot sour soup delish! the decor strives to take you to a warm evening in thailand with little table and stool seating by a busy street; definitely a unique add to lombard.

Stopped by on a Friday night for some Thai food. Lombard street can be busy so we were lucky we got seated here without a wait. It wasn't too busy around the time we went (around 7pm). We got the pad thai, tom yum soup, and the sweet roti. We've tried roti before but not a sweetened version, so we were pleasantly surprised by this dish. The tom yum soup was flavorful and tangy. We got it with rice on the side too. Finally, the pad thai was fantastic. The portion sizes for all of the dishes were pretty big for the price. Overall, a great spot for some thai food at a good price.

Tom yum soup was a bit too much of tomato flavor instead of the lemongrass fragrant taste. Pad See Ew is Drunken Noodles and was adorned. They didn't use Asian broccoli but regular broccoli for this dish, otherwise, it would have been above notch. One has to ask for their spicy peppers and it complemented well with this dish along with other dishes. Green Curry was yum! Pineapple fried rice was spot on. Casual hole in the wall kind of spot with waitress service and the decor is hipster meets Thai. Great grab if one is craving Thai around here.

The name means "Big House", which is why when we went in, it was a quaint small place. The sign said Thai street food, which there was a lovely sized menu but not the common street food I was expecting. Nonetheless, the som Tom, curry, egg rolls, and rice were yummy. Kind staff, Ambiance was lovely, clean, and good prices and big portion sizes.

Khao Soi w/ Crispy Fried Chicken: A classic Northern Thai coconut curry noodle soup. I loved the contrast of textures here--half the noodles are in the rich, flavorful curry broth while the other half are fried to a perfect crisp. The spice level was just right to bring out the flavor. Paired with the crispy fried chicken, it was excellent! Khao Pad Mun Nuer with Soy Cured Egg Yolk: Beef fried rice topped with a rich, soy-cured egg yolk and crunchy fried garlic chips. Mixing the egg yolk in gave the dish a creamy texture, and the steak was cooked perfectly. Burnt Butter Kaya Toast: This was my very first time trying Kaya toast! The Kaya jam was actually lighter than I expected. I love the coconut ice cream combining with the toast! The vibe inside is really cool and modern. Panang (their spelling) Curry, classic Pad Thai and sticky rice seemed to be great options. The curry was ordered with beef. The dish came served in a small half full bowl with watered down curry sauce, a few random vegetables, and the cheapest beef one could possibly find. The Pad Thai, consisting of a plate with a wad of very thin rice noodles which are more likely found in a spring roll, not the flat rice noodle one would find in the famous dish in Thailand. A minuscule amount of chicken, peanuts and fried tofu accompanied the matted noodles. Neither dish had much flavor, yet and probably more the intended goal, would appeal to pretty much any Farang walking off the street. Our friends make fun of us for making the trek out to the East Side, Danville, Black Hawk, etc for the best Thai in the entire Bay Area but that will have to continue until we discover a closer option.

The pumpkin fries were also a great choice: crispy fry with soft pumpkin inside, maintaining the overall pumpkin flavor profile. The sauce they provide on the side (sweet and sour plum sauce), cut through the fry but didn't overwhelm the pumpkin itself. For myself, I got the yellow curry with chicken. The curry dishes do not come with rice, so you will have to order that on the side. The curry is not only a generous portion, but FULL of ingredients.
