The pizza was delicious and it was evident based on the number of people eating inside as well as getting to go orders. We ordered a large custom order pizza for 2 people and it was more than enough with lots of leftovers. The parmesan they offered us was fresh! It is not wood fired pizza but a good pizza nonetheless. Way way way better than your average pizza chains (you know who you are, white rectangle with black dots!). The pizza looks and tastes freshly made. They have tons of different toppings and their smallest size is more than enough to feed one person. We ordered take out on a week night and the order was ready within 15 minutes with a super fast pick up as well. The environment is relaxed, the staff are nuanced yet professional and the food is great The variety in pizza is solid and the unique crust types are fantastic. So furious!! I usually order and pick up today the family was super tired but really wanted a good pizza and they do make a great pizza my problem is their online/ delivery. When you go onto their site it has delivery/ pickup portion when you hit delivery it only gave you an option of a cheese pizza, we didn't want that so I went into the location itself third option down and it went to a favor delivery app so I set it all up it had the whole menu available I ordered a 2 topping large pizza, calzone and a salad. I noticed on the app I thought it didn't have it all I couldn't really go in and figure it out then it came and was that one damn cheese pizza. So I had to call back order the right stuff then go pick it up and all I got from Durkin's was that sucks!! Are you fing kidding me!! It's your website and you sent me to this delivery app??!!!! Being a pizza aficionado, I am always seeking out new places to try. My latest foray brought me to Durkin's Pizza. I just moved to McKinney and DID NOT want to waste my hard earned dollars on the poison that Papa John's and Domino's call pizza. What did I do? Well, I will tell you! I searched Yelp! for some reviews and noticed that one of the pictures of their sausage pizza looked like it was sent as a blessing from heaven in a cruel, broken world. Suffice to say, it did not disappoint. The sauce was not acidic and the crust is soft and tasty with the right amount of seasoning. I highly recommend the classic pepperoni and sausage, and also the chicken alfredo one. Thanks Durkin's for becoming my new go-to pizza spot! read more

Wow, where do I start... I've eaten here in the past and the pizza has been great. Not sure if there is new management, staff, or we just came on a bad night, but the pizza was terrible. Unevenly cooked and thinner than the paper plates we ate off of. In fact, the only way to eat this pizza was to roll the slice around the crust! I might expect quality this poor from a national pizza chain that charges $10 for a pizza but not a local place that charges double that. read more

My family moved to McKinney almost 6 years ago now. Durkin's Pizza was the first Pizza joint we tried. I am so happy we did. :-) now in 6 years there have been a ton of new Pizza places open up in the area and I'll tell you Durkin's beats them every time hands down. The best Pizza in the area. Now they do not deliver but that's really not a drawback. their dessert Ugly Bread is awesome too. Its also not a chain restaurant even though they have another location. Local is a local does. My family have been making memory's with Durkin's pizza and my little boy Henry is the says this is the best pizza he has ever eaten and he had eaten a lot of pizza in 10 years. read more

Recently relocated to this area and after trying out a few nearby spots, Durkin's has become our new go to spot. Here's why we (family of 5, kids ages 8, 6, and 3) love it : (1) the cheese bread is awesome and at ~$5.50 for a 10" we always get at least 1 (2) they have a cauliflower crust pizza that is delicious and tastes similar to a normal thin crust pizza. Trying to watch my carbs so this is a rare and awesome find (3) the price point is great and yet the quality of ingredients is high. They also garlic season their crusts. There are a lot of places that are over-engineering their pizzas these days and while I love an authentic brick oven cooked pizza as much as anyone the kids don't always get into that. Durkin's makes a high quality pizza with all the important elements that appease the simple palette of children while keeping the adults highly satisfied. Love this spot! read more

It's similar to New York style, but it's not. It's not stiff and crunchy like bar style pizza. And the thick, doughy crust that you would have never thought could go well with a "thin crust" pizza? Well, it seems like they've made it work. Wow! These pies are straight up addicting. Call it what you will. All I know that I haven't had many pizzas better than the few I sampled at Durkin's. I would even go as far as to say this is the best pizza in the metroplex. Sure, it's probably out of the way for most folk, but if you want quality pizza you owe it to yourself to get you some! We ordered a couple of mediums and we're pretty happy when they finally came out. Their mediums are comparable to larges at your favorite pizza chain. They don't hold back with the toppings. All the ingredients were full of flavor and fresh. The cheese was so stringy that it probably could have stretched across to the table next to us. If you're going to order just one pizza I would recommend adding meatball. It was my favorite topping by far. If simplicity is what you're looking for they also have some excellent cheese bread. Supposedly, it's one of the items that they're known for. There was almost as much cheese piled on as the bread itself. If you're a cheese lover you absolutely have to get some. The prices are pretty standard, but when you take into consideration the size and quality of what you're getting you really can't beat Durkin's. If that's not enough to bring you in come on Sundays to get $2 off each pie. They also have 2 flat screens so you can keep up with your game while you eat. The dough was undercooked, the little bit of sauce on the pizza had no taste and the cheese, well, it was cheese that had that grease layer loaded on top. Nothing special. Finally...FINALLY...a business worthy of all the Yelp hoopla (Yelpla?)! The last time I heeded Yelp opinions re: pizza I wound up at 5th Street Pizza and had probably the most boring, tasteless, and mediocre pizza of my life. So, I was a little nervous about going to Durkin's. I needn't have worried. The restaurant is great in terms of seating (it's a small place, so it really isn't conducive to huge parties), decor, and music. It is original, which is a welcome relief in an area brimming with restaurants that are all made out of ticky tacky and all look just the same. We ordered a medium pizza with mushrooms, sausage, and extra cheese...and couldn't have been more pleased with it. The ingredients were fresh and tasty, not greasy at all...and the crust was great! It was chewy, but had a crispy bite to it. For me, it was the best of both worlds. I am super finicky when it comes to pizza, and to be honest - I hate most DFW pizza. I'm from California, and have never found DFW pizza to be even close to what I could get in CA in terms of variety and quality. We had sodas, but I did notice a pretty extensive beer selection as well as a few wines. I kind of like that the place doesn't have a gigantic menu beyond, really, pizza and a few salads...why stretch yourself too thin, I say. Now though, I am a convert, at least when it comes to Durkin's. The service is top-notch. Somehow the pizza on the table next to us managed to jump off the table (no joke - no hands were even near it) and land on the floor, and Mike Durkin himself was there in about three seconds to scoop it up and announce that a replacement pizza would soon be on it's way. Nice business practice. In a situation like this I would have expected a less-with-it owner or employee to hem and haw a bit, but he didn't even skip a beat. He's got a great sense of humor, and I loved seeing how engaged and hands-on he is in terms of running his business. He's delivering food, bussing tables, delivering to-go boxes...and generating a lot of warm-fuzzies for this particular customer. So yeah, I'm a fan. A *big* fan. We can't wait to go back. On our way out, another Durkin's virgin asked if the pizza was good and I told her it was fantastic. High praise. This place deserves it! read more

I'm confused as to why Durkins gets such great reviews. I kept reading such wonderful things about this place and have actually given it a few tries thinking "Well, if everyone likes it and I didn't maybe it was just an off day for Durkins.." Yes, their employees are friendly and I like the atmosphere (although not too cozy, they have neat decor.) But as far as the food goes, I really am not a fan. The pizza always seems a bit soggy. Maybe it's because they have a thin crust? I find the sauce is kind of bitter and icky tasting. Nothing about their foods excites me. Sadly, I probably wont be going back. read more

Came to this place once and now I am hooked. Much better than any chain pizza restaurant can provide and prices are very reasonable on the pizza and drinks. The service is pretty good and the owner is very cool and helpful with anything that you need. I ordered a medium with Canadian bacon and mushrooms. It was a decent size and could easily feed two. The pizza arrived piping hot and fresh. All of the ingredients tasted very fresh and the dough is definitely made in house and not frozen. One of the best pizzas I have had. Do you remember the man who I gave my picture to, and he liked my picture, and he started making up a story about it, about a cow being under the rainbow? I like that man. Does he own the pizza place? I like it because the pizza is my favorite and when I go to the counter by myself and ask for ranch dressing, they give it to me. I like ranch dressing with my pizza, it is my favorite! And I like that the guy comes and talks to me and he gives me paper and crayons and hangs up my picture when I give it to him. Dad, it is my favorite place ever! (dad's comments) Is the pizza good? Yes. Have I had better. Absolutely. Small, decor is ok (gotta love the rock n roll posters!), and service is top notch. Ordered a side salad and split a pizza. The crust is good and kind of the consistency of a french bread. Toppings were fresh and plentiful and the sauce rocked. My only wish, and maybe this is asking too much, is that the toppings would be more wall to wall. Like Fireside Pies, this place tends to leave a little too much bare crust at the edges. However, if you ask for some extra red sauce to dip it in....yummy. Will for sure be back! read more

Went during lunch and loved it. For $4.95 you get a small cheese pizza (you can add toppings for an additional charge). The small is 10 inches I think but definitely 6 slices. My brother is big dude (6'3 and 225lbs) and he was full off of 5 slices. The crust is like a hand toss crust with a nice folded over rim that is yummy. Garlic butter goodness. It makes the chain pizza places taste like the cardboard box they are delivered to you in. I usually order carry out at its ready super fast. I've never had to wait longer than 20 minutes. I had heard great things about durkins and was most definitely not let down. We got a Caesar salad that was fresh and solid. The pizzas came out in a reasonable manner and looked amazing. The inner crust is soft and fluffy. The outer crust is damn near like a bread stick and supremely soft. I'm a huge sauce fan and it was seasoned to perfection with aromatics and garlic. Just happened to happen in on Durkin's Pizza on a Saturday evening as we were coming back from exploring the way-off-back roads of Collin County. Was in the mood for pizza, so we checked out the smartphone to see what was available near us and there it was! Sooooo glad we were in the mood for pizza! Fell in love with this place. When he wasn't busy, I struck up a conversation with personality-plus Beau the manager. Found out rather quickly he's a professional storm chaser. I'm no where near his expertise, but I do love chasing storms so we had a lot in common except he's a rabid LSU football fan and I'm strongly root-toot-tootin' for the University of Tennessee. I don't know how long this place has been here, but I had never seen it. We were going to PetsMart one evening and decided to stop by On The Border for dinner. There was a long wait and we decided to leave. I saw a subway a couple of stores down the strip mall so we decided to go there. As we got there, I said why don't we just walk down to the end and see what is at the very end as it looks like there is something down there. We walked down there and discovered Durkin's. It filled up very quickly after we got there and there were quiet a few people coming in for carryout orders, so I guess some people know it exists down there in the corner. We were greeted by the owner Durkin and he was very friendly. The entire staff was friendly. I think we ordered just a simple cheese pizza.
