These drinks are always yummy! Pretty accurate with the orders and of course service is nice. Could be a little quicker but never too bad.

My sister and I stopped by Merit so I can try and rate the cortado for my silly little cortado review series. I also ordered the Purple Haze Latte and a poptart (courtesy of Bakery Lorraine). The cortado was surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because normally Merit's coffee is too fruity (and a bit funky) for me, but this was bold and right and made my ears tingle. Nice and creamy, and not watery. A very top notch standard cortado. The purple haze tasted like relaxing on the beach. It even had little bits of dried ube on top, like a little purple sandy beach. I'm pretty glad Merit's making me re-think their beans. That cortado is something I still think about, even though it's been about a month since my visit.

They had me at Pandan Matcha Cloud Latte and to their Bluebonnet Matcha, great flavors!! The Pandan takes me back to so cal 1000% and I love that they have it here in San Antonio for me to get a taste of home! Pandan is often described as the "vanilla of Southeast Asia" with a fragrant, mildly sweet taste, featuring strong notes of coconut, vanilla, and toasted almond. Price point wise, it is pricier, but their coffee and matcha are pretty top tier! Definitely a place like this a treat!! Excited to try more seasonal flavors!!

FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more Walked in on a whim after a bday dinner for the hubby at the Texas Roadhouse. I was in search of a sweet treat to celebrate at home and boy, was I ever in for a treat! THE LOCATION: in a bustling and popular shopping center with tons of parking, and other fun businesses, right off the 1604 in the Alamo Ranch area. I have no idea what to expect so I just burst thru the doors like I owned the joint ready to embrace something new. THE MENU: aside from some lovely beverages, the dessert offerings are pretty straightforward. CHEESECAKE!!! And in the best possible, gourmet, decadent way. My eyes were popping out of my head! THE SERVICE: Lucky for me, a very patient gentleman behind the counter was available to assist me during a lull. I'm very grateful for the time he took to answer all my questions. THE GOODS: I knew I wanted cheesecake tonight, but after watching those sweet treats watching me right back through a shield of glass, I understood that I NEEDED cheesecake, and stat! While there were sooo many flavors available in the jars, I wanted to eat cheesecake the traditional way; with a fork to slowly dissect and discover the flavors and texture of each layer. By all appearances, these treats are not your average cheesecake and I'm so intrigued. I choose one slice of each flavor available. At $9 per slice, I'm lucky there were only 3 flavors at this hour. Lol! The jars, btw, are $7 each. Now, I had to ask what ingredients were in each flavor becs there is no written description anywhere in the store. The names do no justice in identifying what you're getting either. Names like "Summer Daze" and "Midnight Berry" leave much to the imagination. Sure, you can see chocolate and/or raspberries, but believe me... you don't really know what treasure you've got until it's melting on your tongue. I can't get home quick enough to meet up with the hubby again. Yayyyyyy! Dessert!!! THE TASTES: Heaven. Nirvana. Jack standing at the bow, arms stretched wide shouting, "I'm the king of the world!" That. That's what it's like. And I literally dissected and analyzed each lovely layer, mostly fluffy, decadent mousse, creamy, cheesy and rich. The crust bottoms. Holy smokes! I actually avoid graham cracker crusts but not this one. A-MAZING. Another slice had a crisp shortbread-like crust. Like, WHO DOES THAT?! Omg. I gorged until I regretted rushing in. Total amateur move. I also secretly selected 2 of the 3 slices that I knew my hubby would turn his nose up to. HAHAHAHAHA! Joke's on him. Trust me. Seriously, trust me. If you love cheesecake, mousse, fresh and tart fruit flavors (like fresh fruits and lemon curd!), give a slice or jar a try. And try a lovely match drink, too. Maybe I'll see you there!

It's a different kind of feeling, watching someone you look up be fed to the canvas. MMA is not like a normal sport where you can always do some mental gymnastics and hang onto a "the refs stole that game" or "one bounce different and we win that..." No. You have to sit there and watch one of your heroes seemingly lifeless on the canvas. Every time you open Instagram you have to watch it again. Anyways, I needed a pick me up and knew they meant business when the lady at the counter had one of those McDonalds like headsets on. Even though we were the only ones in the place, she was ready for battle. Stay ready so you don't have to get ready. As I was waiting for my 24oz cold brew ($4.95) to help me through the 5 stages of grief, I took in my surroundings: It's almost like a corporate office trying to cosplay as a coffee shop. It's what I imagine a coffee shop at the Meta "campus" would look like. There was even a little conference room with 3 flat screen TVs hung on the wall. Super interesting. I still don't know how to feel about it... would be a great place to work out of though. Cold brew was solid and did its job in getting me through the 4th stage of grief. THANK YOU BEANS & BREW!
