After a fun weekend at the coast we were looking for a place to grab a bite on the way home. Didn't have time to do a lot of research, but this was 4 solid stars and was a "dinner" I thought they would have some breakfast foods and maybe some fun lunch stuff. When we walked in the individual behind the counter preceded to inform us. "This is the menu, look at it, order and then sit down" I was caught off guard and just said "good morning" While I was being stared at to make my decision, I asked "where are the breakfast items on the menu?" to which she replied: this is a dinner, we don't do breakfast, we do burgers and sandwiches.... Ok then... Feeling pressured I finally just said "I'll do a mushroom and Swiss burger" her response "do you want fries with that or do you want to pay more for something else" I asked what the "something else" was and was informed it was onion rings or a salad. I opted for onion rings. The other two people in my group ordered and she told us the total was $68.00! What in the world?! I get inflation, but this was two burgers and a sandwich.... In Tillamook Oregon, not NYC. With the "suggested tip" of 20% it was around $80! ( I'm all For tipping, but this seemed like a bit much for two burgers and a sandwich) Well! Thank god that order experience was over. She told us our table was number 6. We sit down and apparently they like people to feel like they are being interrogated, because the light over the table was so bright I felt like I was in an operating room. I reached above me and unscrewed the light bulb. I was seeing spots because it was so bright. I was then approached by a man, who didn't look different from any of the customers, that asked " did that light burn out? I replied no it didn't, it was just extremely bright. He then proceeded to screw it back in! I immediately started seeing spots again and proceeded to unscrew it. I told him it was extremely uncomfortable, but I would make sure it was screwed back in before we left. He then walked away. Not two minutes later I was approached by the lady who took our order and said that the light had to be screwed in because it had to match the rest of the seats, but if we wanted to move somewhere else we could go sit in the back. I was annoyed, but didn't feel like arguing over a spot light designed to signal ships out from sea, I agreed to go to the back..... Well, to my joyful discovery, every light was the same back there too. We found the only corner that we could stand to sit at and waited for our food... that was basic at best. Overcooked burger with bland onion rings. To make matters worse, that guy that screwed back in the spot light was apparently the owner! He was also in the back area and proceeded to tell us all about why the spot lights and his remodel restaurant. He talked to us the WHOLE TIME. I understand times have been hard for everyone. I understand that people In Tillamook don't have a lot to do, but this entire experience was awful. The food, the PRICE, the awful service and the spot lights. Never again. Stay away. I hate it when yelp fails me what a terrible experience. read more

We were greeted with a scowl. The girl acted like we were intruding even though no one else was in the restaurant. We felt uncomfortable from the beginning. The fish portion was good but very small. The hamburger was ok. The music is blasting...it's nice 50's music, but you can't have a normal conversation. read more

Talk about taking a step into the past, walk in and the jukebox playing some of the greatest hits from 50's-60's. I'm so glad they were open during this COVID pandemic, but if you are playing it extra safe, just know none of the staff are wearing masks, it's literally like taking a step in the past at such a simpler time. While on vacation driving through the Oregon coast we were hungry and needed to find food. Husband found this place on google maps actually as just looking for the closest place to eat. I got the beach burger without tomatoes all meals come with fries. This burger was soo good, it reminded me of a good old burger stand burger. I feel like I haven't had one of those in such a long time, with the dripping thousand island, shredded lettuce, sweet onion, thick cut bacon, just a great burger. The fries were the crinkle cut don't think there was anything special about them but the entire meal was Good and I ate the entire thing. Husband got the Cadillac burger with onion rings, a couple dollar up charge. The burger had fried onions, pepper jack cheese, thick cut bacon and bbq sauce. His take was it was pretty. I didn't try the burger so can't give my opinion but the onion rings were light and crispy and automatically served with ranch. Of course we had to try a ice cream treat at this old school spot, we ordered a strawberry malt that was made with hand scooped strawberry ice cream. What can you say bad about ice cream? I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place and I definitely recommend giving it a try if your in the area. read more

I've been debating getting a reuben every time I see it on a menu, so at Dutch Mill, I made the decision to get it and it was not the wrong one! It was extra delicious. My partner got the burger with the jalapenos on it and he said they were really spicy and there were way too many, but that's his opinion. Otherwise, it wasn't anything special. Minus one star because my side salad was sad with only iceberg and shredded cheddar cheese and too-basic dressing options and my partners fries were very plain, not being salted at all. They had that delicious-looking spice mix on them, but no salt! I also think they use a very cheap swiss cheese because it was flavorless and melted like American cheese. I wouldn't be opposed to returning if they decided to serve better beers. read more

Drawn to the beautiful old neon sign we stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. Lots of people in booths and at tables. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. You order at the counter and your food is brought to you. My partner ordered the Fieri, a cheeseburger with pastrami, lettuce, Swiss cheese - sounds crazy but he loved it. I got fish and chips and a salad. Delicious. The owner is on site helping out and making sure people are happy. One of his kids works here (I think). He has a great collection of gleaming vintage coin-operated riding toys that some stores used to have a few of out front for the luckiest kids to ride. Food good, Service BAD/ prejudiced. We walked in with my service animal and were unfairly treated when asked by server Ellie, " if we were going stay or LEAVE" (as she looked at my service animal). I asked her if she had problem with my service animal and she said, "no" and began to tap her nails on the counter the whole time as we looked at the menu then when asked to put all orders on one tab she proceeded to charge me separately. Stopped here while we were in Tillamook. This diner is downtown and what a cool place to have breakfast or lunch. We parked on the street where there is parking. Parking in back as well. Lot of room to spread out here and the menu is simple and all named after things. Very cool. Food was great and this place is spotless. Decor is 50's cruising for sure. In the Top 3 best onion rings I've had in my life; and I know my o-rings. These were different than any others I've had, but different in a good way: I can't quite put my finger on what it was, but it was like they used Tempura for the batter, which gave them a bite that was more than satisfying. The girl that served us initially sat us at a booth, which is always my preference, but afterward my wife wanted to get a table with a chair so we could strap our three-year-old in. The server happily gave us a new table without hesitation. And beyond that she was very attentive. My only minor complaint is the "fry sauce" is not actual fry sauce. Not even close. I would strongly suggest the following recipe for "real" fry sauce: 1 1/2 C. Heinz ketchup (yes, it has to be Heinz) 1 ¼ C. Best Foods Mayo (yes, it has to be Best Foods) ¼ C. 1/2 dill pickle juice (yep) and 1/2 red wine vinegar 2 Tbsp. Garlic powder 2 Tbsp. Onion powder 2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard 1 Tbsp. Cajun seasoning (I found a brand called Slap Ya Mama I really like. It's available on Amazon) Whisk everything together and it makes about 24 oz. Easily scalable. I also meant to add that I don't know why this place is listed as "$$" as opposed to "$". I would say it's the latter. They have roughly the same prices for burgers, etc. as a cart in the Portland area would, and this is a sit-down diner/restaurant. Their prices are more than reasonable, especially since both the food and service are great. read more

The place was very clean, and also was observing health precautions. This review otherwise involves one visit and one menu item, so take it with a grain of salt. I had "The Big Bopper" sandwich, which is essentially a Ruben. Not inexpensive. Although generously adorned with ingredients, it was served incredibly hot and I couldn't start eating it for ten minutes (not kidding) after it was served. During that time an already rather oily sandwich had time to saturate its bread, giving it little structural integrity - I don't care much for food that falls apart while I'm trying to eat it. It tasted fine, however. The flavor may have been helped by copious quantities of salt. The sandwich must truly have contained a huge amount- a couple of hours later I was desperate for water, and drank a lot of it. The fries that were served with it were not overly salted - and quite good. read more

Really fun restaurant with an old style diner vibe. The restaurant was clean and had many things to look at from vintage signs to the fun display. We order the "Big Bopper" which is a Ruben sandwich, it came with fries. We also got something off the Cafe Classics section, the hot turkey, which came with mash potato, peas, carrots and corn mixture and white bread under the turkey with with gravy on top. The Big Bopper was a very hefty sandwich. It was very good and saucy. I really like the sauerkraut and dressing. The fries were crinkle cut fries and they were crispy and yum. The hot turkey was very moist. The mash potato was very impressive. Pretty good place to stop at when you're on the coast. read more

Dutch Mill is first and foremost a burger and shake joint (aka a diner) ... so, don't get distracted with all the other menu items. While the burgers here may not be the greatest I've had, they are far better than the God awful and gut wrenching burgers you get at a fast food restaurant and even some other diners. While some may say the prices are a bit high, I say it is fairly reasonable what what I got. The staff was very friendly, the restaurant was clean and there is either street parking or parking behind the restaurant. read more

A really cute downtown tillamock spot. Owners and staff were accommodating and friendly, ordered the rat rod and bel air (with veggie burger) onion rings and the apple pie shake. Used to always love stopping by when going through Tillamook. Good food but a little bit overpriced. Now I say used to because I had never had a problem with anything until I came in one day after a long day on the road excited to get my favorite burger the Belt Buster. When I walked up to order the staff seemed a lil distracted as there were two employees talking to each other. No issue from me there. A female employee took my order and was super nice but when I said I wanted the Belt Buster the male employee chimed in that I can't order it. When I asked I why I was told it was going to be impossible for me to eat it all because of my small female stature. After that I still tried to order it because I had had the burger before and ate it all but the male employee convinced the female employee to not sell me the burger. I was then told I could only order a small burger as I am a small female. So I did and I thought that uncomfortable ordeal was over until my food was served to me by the same male employee who then said "now that's a burger you can eat" when giving me the burger I had ordered. I have no idea why this ordeal happed I was extremely uncomfortable and so was my family I was with. (There was a fun conversation afterwards with my family about why I took all the rudeness.) Anyways to sum it up staff was rude, misogynistic, and I should be allowed to order what I want because it's my money. I hope I don't sound like a Karen. This was just my experience. read more
