I enjoy giving technicians or companies the chance to proverbially "shoot themselves in the foot" even though I like it much more when a company proves its 5 star rating which was not my experience this time. This company was referred through Home Depot. You think Home Depot. What could possibly go wrong, right? Let's start with communication. The Home Depot dispatch guy, asked the reason for the appointment, which I explained, per verifiable diagnostics of an outside technician. I gave the specs on the part that needed replacing. The HD dispatch rep was very patient, very precise and quoted the price including labor and 1 year warranty. The AZ tech spouted out a totally different, higher price and said he had to call the office for approval. Worse than that, at first he insisted my system be replaced entirely for $12-$15k. (Yeah, it's very old but works quietly, effectively. The expression "they don't build them like they used to" is true as I've read complaint after complaint about new-installs and new equipment and poor follow up, here and all over the web.) What the HD guy didn't say was that if any nearby or related components stop functioning or are damaged, the responsibility is with the customer. So, if static pressure changes, freon is lost, the system fails which makes no sense because if you're replacing a broken part, the other parts should work better, not break down, you have no case to complain. I told him I would have to let HD know that this is what this subcontractor does/says and see what protections HD gives by going through them. I'd already accepted that things could go wrong which is why I let the tech do and start what he did below... Next issues, technique and preparedness. After looking inside the condenser panel, which I'd opened up ahead of time as a courtesy, and agreeing with the problem found, the tech asked me to fire up the a/c so he could see what happens with the compressor outside. When I explained to him it would create a mess due to dripping water into the ceiling below, he shrugged. I asked if he had a ShopVac and he said he didn't. I turned on the a/c to comply while placing containers for dripping water. Then he wanted to temp check the inside vents and check for static pressure but the condenser panel was open which I pointed out. He struggled to line up that panel, and kept hitting it with his hand. When it seemed good enough to him, instead of re-connecting that panel using existing drill holes and screws, he began drilling new holes!! I stopped him at the first one and when I questioned him, he said he'd tape up any holes left open. What?!? Why not take the time and do it right or, if you need to temporarily seal the condenser panel for an accurate vent reading or static pressure check, use tape and then put in the dedication and accuracy to use existing holes to close up the unit when the job is done? That logic didn't work for the technician. His reply was "Let me do my job." Feeling pressured, I assented and went inside. He decided he was going to step away and call their office, unaware that if I returned to the garage at any point, I'd hear him even though he wasn't in clear sight which by chance is exactly what happened. I just waited and listened. I literally heard him say "You don't wanna touch this one." I casually asked him what's next. That's when he told me about his conversation with their office and blamed *my* hesitancy in letting him drill multiple new holes in the a/c and furnace components as to why the office told him to close up and leave. Really?? Maybe some truth serum is called for. The tech left so fast, I didn't get to ask if the compressor was sealed. An hour later when I checked, sure enough, it was unsealed. Worst of all, the new hole and screw he thought he'd created a connection point with for the condenser access panel didn't entirely clear the housing, the new drill hole on the panel wider than the one in the housing. The inside temp check was never done. The static pressure check was only done visually based on some blackened fiberglass insulation around the unit. He never screwed the condenser panel door back on, though the screws were right there. It's just tentatively slid into place, leaning outwards unsupported at the top. When I reported the open compressor, the tech was sent back, tG. He closed the panel with just one screw that was there. Clearly no sense of professionalism or courtesy to use additional screws to replace the two or three which were missing. There was no sense of personal obligation to Jack. If someone suggests a different method to do my job, especially if it makes sense or saves time, I don't dismiss it. If there's something I can do extra to make myself stand out from competition in my field, I do it. I definitely don't blame the consumer or try to scare them into spending more based on their uncertainty or fears. Maybe their one redeeming characteristic is I won't be charged so I hold them to it. read more

Went to Costco to install a new complete HVAC system. AZ was recommended as their preferred vendor. They had a great sales guy, Tal, come out and give us a full estimate. He worked hard to earn our business which he did. Then he had one of the owners, swing by and give us his opinion on what system we should choose. He was extremely thorough and helpful. We went with his recommendation. They installed a new furnace and condenser as well as all new duct work etc. The install crew showed up exactly on time, with 6 guys and they busted their butts. They were here from 8am until 8pm, making sure it was all done correct. The lead installer explained everything and was a pleasure to work with. We are extremely pleased with AZ and highly recommend them! read more

UPDATE 2/24/2020 I wrote this review last night, and this morning I had a call from Rafael of AZ telling me how disappointed he was in the review. I had spoken to him before when I had asked to speak to a Manager in my total frustration. When we spoke the first time he gave me a song and dance about how if they had recommended replacement of our ducts at the time they sold us the furnace and the ducts had not needed replacement we would have been upset. He totally missed my point that it was OBVIOUS that our ducts needed replacing. The technician who came out to repair them took only a couple of minutes to see that they were in terrible condition, so I do not understand why the sales rep who went into the crawl space to inspect them, and who told us he was a general contractor and knowledgeable about these things, did not see that. We were relying on their expertise. Because they gave us bad advice we missed out on approximately $450 in Costco cash card rebate, and had to give up 4 days of our time instead of two. Furthermore, for the month+ that the new furnace was trying unsuccessfully to blow air through the old ducts, our gas bill went from $40/month to over $120/month. Now Rafi implied that he wants me to take down the review without acknowledging that there is a problem or making any attempt to make amends. From my end it feels like we were told we didn't need ducts to minimize the amount of Costco rebate. Furthermore, I am being treated as if I am an over-reacting woman rather than someone who has over 25 years of management experience including of construction projects and major industrial facilities. I don't need mansplaining, I need an appropriate response. Not impressed. What would it take for me to update this review with a positive conclusion? 1. Acknowledge that we were given bad advice in the beginning, and that their response has been less than stellar. 2. Give a sincere apology for the amount of my time that has been wasted on the two extra days of installation/inspection and on the repeated calls to AZ to try to get some satisfaction. 3. Reimburse me the $450 that we are out because we did not order the ducts at the time of the furnace. 2/23/2020 I had high expectations from a Costco contractor but have been disappointed. We were advised by the AZ salesperson who came to our house that we should NOT replace our ducts when we had our new furnace installed. We were surprised, but accepted the advice. Our furnace was installed, the State inspector came...and we failed the inspection. AZ sent a crew out to repair the duct that the inspector said caused the failure, and he said the ducts were in terrible shape and unless they were replaced we would not pass inspection. We also were getting virtually no heat through the ducts, and our gas bill more than tripled! We paid the $4500 to have the ducts replaced, but instead of getting a Costco cash card rebate based on the total price of furnace + ducts as we would have if we had purchased them at the same time, we only received it on the price of the furnace so we missed out on about $450 in rebates. When I complained, AZ said there never is a rebate on ducts, but a relative who ordered both a new furnace and duct replacement at the same time just three days after we ordered our furnace got a Costco cash card based on the total combined amount. We also had to arrange to be home four days instead of the two it would have taken if the jobs had been done together and we had passed the inspection the first time. Then, the day after they were installed a limit switch failed on the furnace. A technician came and installed a temporary fix, but we had to wait more than two weeks for the replacement part. This meant arranging to be home two more days. Worst of all, I have called to complain several times and every time I am promised a call back, but I have never been called back as promised. I left repeated messages for Customer Service Manager Monique, who was supposedly handling my case, and she never called back. More than two weeks ago I was finally transferred to Marlin Aguilar, the person supposedly in charge of all customer service, who gave me a big song and dance then told me he would call me the day after our (second) State inspection to "make things right." The inspection was two weeks ago and he has not called. I also put in a complaint via AZ's customer satisfaction survey on their website and no one followed up. So...we are out $450 in Costco rebates and 4 days of our time. The technicians we have dealt with have been great, but the sales and customer service personnel have been terrible. read more

Horrible... Stay Away! I had 4 other companies come out and their rep Jonathan came by and gave me a quote while I waited. Same equipment as all other quotes yet his was over $4000 over. So much unnecessary sales talk during the whole thing. After I received the quote I asked him to leave and mentioned his quote was ridiculous. I went through COSTCO and this is one of there companies that they farm out. Please save your time and skip this company... Oh and after the estimate the company calls you non stop and texts with random numbers that nobody answers. When my Lennox central heating system packed up just days after the 10 year had warranty expired, they charged me $150.00 to say they didn't have the part to fix it and they didn't know when it would come in and that that 150. would not go toward the repair of the unit. I found it curious that the system malfunctioned conveniently after their 10 year plan was up, which they insisted is the life span of a heating and air system. The part that broke was the computer board that had been sending corrupt signals for sometime before any warning or error message appeared. Why didn't AZ contact us to say were getting a corrupt signal from our computer board? The answer is, we didn't have their expensive maintenance plan. This company is a cheat. They over charge and Costco, which is where I got them from, is an enabler. They should not showcase Lennox or AZ. I will inform Costco of our experience. read more

Awful, terrible, inconsistent, and generally rude. I cannot recommend against this company strongly enough. The communication and customer service is lack luster. I have been disappointed in them every step of the way. I felt pressured during the sales pitch (which they failed to show up to at first), the job was not completed the first day and the plumber did not show up on the rescheduled date (again no communication about the no show), the inspection failed and I needed to call multiple times to get answers on an estimated timeline. Additionally, there was no communication about how the permitting process would work. On site workers were also bad mouthing the in office staff to me, a customer ! In my last frustrating call I was given excuses and hung up on as I was asking my final questions. I am happy to have a water system but I wish I would've went with a company that showed more care. read more

My wife and I were referred to AZ through Costco as they are a preferred partner in our area. We met with Marlon for a walkthrough of our home so that he could fully understand the work that needed to be done. He did a very thorough job of determining what needed to be done and the various options we had in terms of cost. We needed a complete replacement of our HVAC system, so it was a large job. Marlon did a great job in explaining the various options for we had and how we could go about financing the system. Within a few days, the work began. Jovani and his team did a fantastic job in getting all of the work done within 1 day! The workers were punctual, polite, made sure our home remained clean and did an overall great job! My AC unit had broken and since my furnace was also old I decided to get an estimate for replacing the entire HVAC system. Mike Mendoza as my project consultant and he was very professional and communicative during the entire project. He put in the extra work on the initial estimate to make sure I was getting the right solution, including going into the attic to investigate the ducts. Mike then went out of his way to make sure every question and estimate I had was answered promptly. He would pull over while driving to take or return a call an even checked in while he was traveling on an airplane to make sure the installation went well. Given how quickly the whole project went and how high the level of service was I'd highly recommend AZ. read more

We schedule an appointment to change our AC via Costco. They asked both of us to be present, we did. They did NOT show up. They called 45 minutes later letting me know that they can not make(after I called twice). I told them, we are very unhappy because they wasted our time and I will call Costco to complain. I don't usually do reviews, but when I do, it's because they were phenomenal. Starting with the Sales Rep. He was not pushy and was informative. Our system is very technical . We have two systems , one for the upstairs and one for the downstairs. After years of bad airflow and hot spots, the representative came up with a plan to improve it. However , the VP of sales, Marlon was not satisfied and he personally came out and introduced me to a mini split system for the upstairs and he saved me money. Not only did he save me money but at that point I had him do all of the duck work which was great for the downstairs. A competitor said it couldn't be done, they got it done. First off, Ashton came to house after a confirmation appointment on time, polite, professional and worked with us nicely to find a great heating and air-conditioning replacement option. The day of the installation arrived and Niño, Tavo, JR and Lion arrived before their scheduled appointment in a pleasant and professional manner. The installation to replace our 25 year old system required a lot of extra surprises, new slab and piping, but they rolled with the punches and got finished and just one day. I received a phone call from AZ Air Conditioning and Heating within 10 minutes of submitting an online inquiry about the possibility of a new HVAC system. They came out the very next day to evaluate my home and to determine exactly what I needed. Four days later there was an amazing team of 9 workers that showed up at my home to complete that day the task of changing out my old 30 year HVAC with a new system that is much more economical in every way. This review is for the AZ office staff only. We signed up with AZ Air Conditioning thru Costco and the sales rep Steven and the AZ installation team were good to work with. The system they installed in May 2016 works very well and we haven't had any issues with the hardware. My issue is entirely with the office staff. Early on in the sales and installation process my phone number was unknowingly entered incorrectly into their system and I didn't realize this until I received a "last chance" letter in the mail warning me that the city permit window was closing and I still needed to have my final inspection completed. I had no idea. I called immediately and after scheduling the final inspection, I asked them to update my phone number. I was assured it was done... but somehow it was still incorrect and this led to several more miscommunications. Fast forward to 2017 and I've scheduled an annual maintenance appointment and been told the technician would call 30 min before his arrival. The day before the appointment, I receive a phone call from the office asking to move the 2 hr appointment window to later in the morning due to a company meeting with the technicians. I agree to the change and modified my morning plans. The technician showed up 30 mins early before the appointment window opened and I wasn't home. He left a nice note asking me to reschedule. I arrived home and called the office to complain and see if he was still in the neighborhood. The person answering the phone apologized and said he had already moved on to the next appointment and could come back at the end of the day. I had already modified my day once for them and could not do it again. So consumer beware, AZ will install a good system in your home, but when working with the office staff, it will take extra effort on your part to make sure things go smoothly. read more

A great contractor for Costco that took care of the entire install. Replaced our 1966 heater and ducting with a new heater and AC system. Only took a couple of days and minimal disruption as they got the old ducting out and new system installed in 2 days. They were meticulously neat, covered everything and were efficient! I had the privilege of meeting Jermaine Kelly from AZ Air Conditioning and Heating. We discussed the new system to be installed in my home and he was very helpful and knowledgeable of all the different options available to me. This company is so prompt and everything is going just as Jermaine explained to me. The first crew for asbestos removal showed up right on time on Tuesday seven am. The second crew (Byron and his team) showed up on time Wednesday with all the new equipment and went to work. They covered the carpeting and started removal of the old system and started installation of the new system. I am very impressed with the work ethics of this company and the team of diligent workers. I highly recommend to anyone that is in need of a new heating and cooling system. Or any other HVAC issues that might come up. Costco sent this outstanding company. I found this company thru Costco, so I was sure they were dependable. Which they were. The sales person CT was excellent, very thorough, explained everything thoroughly. Was happy with the installers and how well they took care of the installation. The product is a little expensive, but I used them for 2 reasons, Costco backs their product and they gave me a 10% rebate with Costco, which I now use for gas. That was nice! Also got a senior citizen discount. So I do recommend the company. I give them 5 out of 5 stars! read more

This company just installed a/c on my entire 1600 sq ft. house. I am very, very satisfied. Especially, with the people that I dealt with - I know there are many unsung heroes behind the stage -. Juan (sales), Byron (Lead), Angel R, Gerber, Seberino, Guillerno, and the electrician (didn't get his name) were all very professional, respectful, and friendly. They made sure to wear a mask all the time, keep social distance, made sure to not make any type of damage to the floors, walls or any area they were working on. Everything was very clean after they finished. They finished a not-so-small installation (4 mini-splits with a multi-zone condenser - in one day. We needed some help the following day, called Juan, and two other friendly, capable technicians came and took good care of our concerns. I absolutely recommend because of this team. Many companies can install the exact same equipment, but the team above made a big difference with what we received. read more

DJ was sent to address an issue with a brand new split unit AC installation. Once installed the system showed no signs of life. A technician had visited the evening after the install and diagosed the problem as "board level" ... so internal and requiring parts. DJ arrived with the parts in hand. He then removed the covers on the air handler and looked at the existing board. He discovered that the issue was related to QC. The assembly was incorrect as several terminals were not properly connected during the manufacturing process. He connected the internal wiring using the replacement part as a "blueprint" and the system came up immediately. I was very happy that the board did not actually have to be replaced. Kudos to DJ for taking the time to find the issue and fix it in a simple and expedient manner. read more

This is a review only for the quoting process, they did not perform any work. They contacted me trough Costco request I made, good with scheduling, calling to verify appointment etc. Yasmin showed up on time and was extremely nice, my wife and I decided we wanted this company to do the work. Promised a written quote with two options the next day. Two days later I emailed Yasmin, she promised a quote the next day. Two days later again same thing and again nothing. We ended up waiting days in end and promise after promise not kept. So although the company had good reviews, we got a good feeling during the visit, we could never get AZ to follow up. So took a few hours off work to meet Yasmin, then wasted more time trying to get a quote so I could give them money and work. If a company is too busy to provide a quote tell the customer, don't waste people's time. read more

This company is phenomenal!! We had them put in a heater and David Sean came out to talk to us first and give us the bid. Love the way he interacted with us, at no point did I feel like he was too pushy or obnoxious like a car salesman. Christine called to make sure we were still available for the appointment and let us know that everyone was on time and would be there as promised. These two people are a great asset to A-Z Air Conditioning. The men (Nino, Taco, Jr, Sabarino and Leo) who did the actual install were quick and professional. Came at 8:30 with all that was needed for the job. They were very careful with everything in my home so nothing was damaged, work was done in one day and they had it all cleaned up and out by 3:30-4:00 pm. read more

I am a happy returning customer of AZ Air and Heating. i had my first unit installed in 2016 at my mom's house through a Costco promotion and now my husband and I got a new unit at our house just a few weeks ago. When we met with sales rep, Rey Gutierrez, from AZ so that he can explain the current promotion Costco offers for our house I started to talk about some concerns I had with the unit at my mom's house. Rey was very patient and attentive to listening to my concerns about the unit at my mom's house. He did a wonderful job at juggling all the questions and recommendations for both homes. I appreciated his honesty and genuine interest in trying to help us make a good decision that was within our budget for both houses. Rey went above by reaching out to his manager to help me with a discount for an Attic Fan at my mom's house to help with cooling the home, as well as a maintenence check-up for the unit. The attic fan has helped with cooling my mom's house. There's some maintenance to be done to really clear up the problem so that'll get done soon. All in all Rey and AZ Air have been helpful, honest and quick at taking care of the issues! read more
