We used AZ Air Conditioning and Heating Inc. through Costco to install a new Lennox air conditioner and furnace. We obtained bids from 4 other contractors, and selected AZ Air Conditioning and Heating Inc., even though their price was higher than the others. The service and product we got from AZ Air Conditioning and Heating was worth the extra money, without a doubt, and I would do it all over again. It's true that you get what you pay for. Edson Ramos, the sales rep for AZ Air Conditioning and Heating Inc. was by far, the most thorough, detailed, knowledgeable, and honest of all the sales reps we met from all the companies we got bids from. He was very clear and straightforward about what his bid included, which consisted of all new materials for the installation, such as new copper refrigeration lines, a new safety switch, a new switch box, a new 4" exhaust vent, as well as other new components. The other companies wanted to use our existing hardware, and the only "new" equipment we would be getting from them was the actual air-conditioner and furnace units. Edson's bid also included a sound jacket for the compressor and a portable pad for the condenser, which the other companies did not offer. It also included installing insulation in the air return vent, which the other companies never even mentioned.  Also, it included repositioning the condenser unit to a better position, not only because we requested it but because it would be necessary to pass the city permit inspection. Edson was very clear that we would be happy with the work, and he guaranteed it would pass the city's permit inspection. He was right on both accounts. An example of Edson's honesty is when he told us our existing refrigeration line was ¾" and we needed a 7/8" line for the unit to run properly. That is what he would be installing. I checked and we in fact did have a ¾" line, yet some of the other sales reps actually lied and told us that our line was 7/8", and did not need to get replaced. Other sales reps told us that our existing ¾" line would work just fine with the new unit, which is not true. Edson was very easy to work with and listened to our requests. For example, I did not want the refrigeration line to run down the side of my exterior house wall contained within an exposed channel. Aesthetically, it would have looked terrible. Edson agreed to open the drywall, run the line within my walls, and replace the removed drywall, as long as I would patch and paint the incisions in the drywall. He put it in writing. AZ Air Conditioning and Heating Inc. came to install the system on the date and time they promised, and completed the job in one day.  Luis, lead person on the job, was extremely friendly and accommodating. He completely explained everything that was being done and had us inspect each portion of the work after it was completed to ensure that we are happy with it. His workers, Armando, Gabriel and Jamie, were top-notch professionals. All four of them paid a lot of attention to detail, were very thorough, and extremely courteous. They worked very hard throughout the day and showed teamwork to get everything done on time. They were careful to not damage/dirty anything in the house and cleaned up after themselves thoroughly at the end of the job. I would welcome all four of them back to work at my house any day. Luis made sure we were happy with his work. For example, he went the extra yard when installing the 4" exhaust vent from the furnace through to the roof. A portion of our existing 3" vent inside the attic was inaccessible and was contained within a wooden chute. Rather than just connect the new 4" vent to the 3" vent at the point where it was inaccessible within the chute, he cut a portion of the panel out of the chute so he could access the 3" vent inside the chute. This allowed him to install the new 4" line completely through from the furnace to the rooftop. The other companies had told me they would not be able to do this, but would instead just put the new 4" vent only to the point where it was accessible. I can't say enough about the work that Luis and his teammates did for us. We are extremely happy with the installation, which is something I think many customers with other companies are often not. They are often left with questions, doubts, and dissatisfaction once the company leaves. This is not the case with AZ  Air Conditioning and Heating Inc. We're very happy we went with them. read more

I bought a new AC for the house from COSTCO right before the summer and couldn't be happier! My project manager was David Molina and he did a great job of explaining how the system works and the benefits of the high efficiency vs. the entry models. When we decided on a system, he let us know all of the different rebates we were eligible for! The system was a little more expensive than the other bid we got but after the rebates and hearing how much better Lennox is than the other brand we were considering it was close enough to make sense using a company that we know and trust. I got central air through Costco and this company is the contractor. Very good communication, quotes and explanation of things before signing. On the appointed day the crew of 6-8 arrived promptly at 8:30 am, each crew member worked different areas of the home and by 4 pm the central air installation was complete and working. Protective plastic sheeting laid everywhere and work areas were vacuumed to make sure no dust or stuff remained.The technician installed the wifi thermostat and explained it's working to me. The whole thing was done very professionally. All post installation important points were explained to me after installation too. We had a Lennox XC-25, 4-ton unit with a matching furnace installed the other day. AZ brought a team of seven men and worked non-stop until the job was done. They were all wearing headlamps after sunset to finish. They removed the 25 year old Rheem AC, furnace, ductwork and all the grills. Installed everything new, turned the system on and it works perfectly. Best parts: wiring, ductwork, piping...everything is plumb, square, level, neat. When I looked at the wiring inside the unit I very well could have been looking under the hood of a Lexus. Second best part: They cleaned up every last shred of debris (including the insulation bits from the wire striping).....on top of all of this, they are all very nice people. read more

I give AZ 5 stars! I ordered two complete units for my two story house - One 5 ton and one 4 ton unit. The units are very quiet and work great, and I'm able to control them with my smart phone. They did a great job and completed it the same day. They covered everything - furniture and flooring in their path. The technicians also asked if I had any questions and gave me as much time as I needed to completely understand my new system and thermostats. I would highly recommend this company to anyone that is looking for a professional job at a reasonable price. I wanted to have my HVAC system serviced, so I called AZ because they are a local BBB accredited business. When the technician arrived he was polite and began by testing the AC unit. After 10-15 minutes he came back up with the service bill, telling me the compressor was sub-optimal. I asked him if he was going to put a filter in; he promptly got one from his truck, and also confirmed that the heater was operating properly. After he left, I realized that he didn't clean or lubricate either unit. The next morning, I called and ask what their service included (18 points in all). When I asked why my service didn't include this, I was told it was a service call and not a maintenance call. I then talked to the original dispatcher, who said I asked for service for a problem, not maintenance. I come from the auto industry, where 'serviced' means maintenance. After talking in circles for a few minutes, I told her I wasn't happy and ended the call. The dispatcher called me right back to apologize for the misunderstanding, and offered to send out a technician to do the maintenance for no additional charge. I appreciate AZ going out of their way to make this customer happy. Other local businesses I've recently dealt with would be wise to emulate their customer service model. read more

I was leaving Costco and happened to see a display for central air and I signed up for a FREE estimate. AZ is the contractor they send out. The sales rep Jermaine came to my house and was so charming and well informed. He wasn't heavy handed in his sales pitch which i greatly appreciated. He was just confident that he could give me a good deal and great service. Excellent communication, quotes and explanation of exactly what i was going to be getting into before signing anything. The crew showed up on time and worked all day to install everything. It was a rather big job and it took the crew of 3 twelve hours to complete it. But they worked hard and made sure that everything was protected and took the time to show me how everything worked. I'm so glad I went with AZ! The service and the equipment were beyond excellent. They really took all the hassle out of the process. I highly recommend! P.S. I had gotten quotes from competitors before and they were going to charge me a few thousand more for a base system. My 80 year old father contracted AZ through Home Depot. His A/C unit was in working condition at the time of service. AZ came out and performed cleaning/ maintenance and replaced ducts. When we used the unit the next day we immediately smelled a burn. It turns out the motor was burned. AZ came out and advised we replace the entire unit and not just the motor due to the age of the unit and gave us the estimate of $17,000 (no hoisting, 3 bedroom resident). Rafi, the manager offered us $1600 credit towards the purchase. We even had to call the gas company for a leak!! AZ provided very poor follow up customer service on a botched job. read more

Gotta give a 5 star due to the experience I had with ROBERT the eco water technician who came out to my home today. He was nice and really took the time to explain the softener machine to me and all the settings. We also went ahead and tested our water before and after and got filters changed out. I really appreciate his readiness to work and friendly attitude. Please give him recognition ! I had to reschedule my appointment and the receptionists who answered the phone both the male and female were extremely friendly. I was blown away by the thoroughness of their work, they did a lot of little things that I guarantee others who cut corners would not. Real pros here and that's hard to find today. The workers came on time and were courteous and did a nice job of cleaning up after the job was complete. After 4 years of trying to work with this company, I'm done. Background: $28,000 install! I did not go with the lowest bidder because I THOUGHT CostCo would stand behind their products. From the get-go, this unit had trouble cooling our house. At bidding time, the tech said that additional vents should be added (he also asked me not to tell that to the installer fearing for retribution), but at install time, I was told those would be unnecessary. I repeatedly called the company to address the issue, and they kept making minor vent and airflow adjustments. This unit barely cools. Besides the low performance of the unit, there have been repeated failures. Bewarned, even though there is a part warranty, labor costs are not covered after the 1st year. Failure 1: Error code -- they could have fixed over the phone, but they sent an installer to clear the code and charged me $200 Failure 2: Thermostat failure -- $200 to put a new unit in Failure 3: Blower Motor -- $500 to replace Time spent to coordinate and be present for the repairs: thousands of dollars. Mind you -- this is all under warranty. When trying to work with the company, they try and get you on a $400/year maintenance plan. Avoid at all costs -- previous systems I've had worked for tens' of years with maintenance that I did (filter changes). Shame on Costco for representing this company. read more

I called them out to help with AC Repair. Their diagnostic fee was more expensive than other places but they were able to come out 2 days before schedule and with the heat, it was worth it to me. The problem ended up being with my circuit breaker and they wanted to charge me $550 to replace it (in addition to the $129 diagnostic fee which would not be credited toward parts or labor, which I was unclear on at the time of booking the appointment). I was shocked with this estimate and discontinued my work with them. I had an electrician come out same day and do the job for $125. I was extremely disappointed at this company's attempts to up-charge me so much for simply replacing a circuit breaker. I did appreciate that both techs wore masks and gloves. read more

We specifically asked for him because our son was extremely pleased dealing with Mike before when our son had a mini split system installed in his house by AZ . Mike Mendoza looked at our air conditioning needs, looked at our options, made recommendations, and calculated the cost(s) and various discounts. We made a decision to have the system installed just 4 days later. The AZ crew finished the job in one day, cleaned up, gave us a tutorial on using it, and we've been enjoying quiet, cool air since. We bought our unit through Costco back in 2014 - we were promised every 6 month maintenance checks along with amazing customer services. This was not the case! When it came to the first 6 month maintenance check , they kept rescheduling us over and over hell they didn't even show up one if the times. But you bet your butt they they kept charging us for that maintenance package, finally cancelled it since they never came through on their end. Flash forward today, finally had enough of this company hence why my review is so late, they wanted to charge me $129.00 to just come out to see if they could fix the problem. That is just crazy, the unit is only 4 years old, I took my business else where. Heck even the new company we are using were shocked to hear what they wanted to charge. Do yourself a favor, save the headaches, tears and money for things that matter and don't use this company. PS shame on Costco for doing business with such a horrible company. read more

From the initial consultation with you, right down to each step of the installation process with Kevin and his crew, I was really satisfied, and impressed with everyone involved with the project. In particular, I found you to be the perfect balance of being extremely professional, knowledgeable with all your products, while not being pushy or condescending like some company reps can be. I found your explanations of the different systems and suggestions for which units best suited my home to be informative, easy to understand, and explained in a way that made sense to me. This gave me the trust in you so that I felt confident I would be getting just the right system. I really appreciated your patience as our consultation ran at least an hour or two beyond the expected 90 minutes. When I called you on the Sunday prior to the installation day with a few more questions you were right there to answer, and told me not to worry for calling on your day off. To me that reflects someone who is committed to their profession and their clients, and goes above and beyond most people just doing their "job". But what probably impressed me the most was when we had different interpretations of the scope of the contract regarding the installation of new ducting, and possible additional charges. You resolved the issue by discussing it with your manager, and didn't charge me a dime more. Without going into the details I basically benefited by getting all new ducting wherever it was accessible for the crew to change out, which turned out to be just about everything! I truly believe, and I am sure you agree, that it is a wise businessman who values a satisfied customer over a little extra profit. Thank you very much for that, Jonathan. Which brings us to your installation crew. First off I want to say that each and every one of the eight HVAC and electrical technicians displayed courteous and professional behavior the entire time they were at my house. They were neat in appearance, and went about there work efficiently, and as far as I could see, safely. No clowning around, bad attitudes or abusive language at all. Kevin, the lead HVAC tech, and another Kevin, the lead electrician both displayed the same professionalism in that they always kept me informed with the progress of their work and any details that needed some decision making. They kept me in the loop. Also, the prep work they did to ensure that the dust or debris created from their installs was mitigated was beyond satisfactory; it was exemplary. Drop cloths everywhere, plastic draped over anything close to the work area, shoe covers etc., they took care of it all. Again, professional. Seriously, I can't say enough about the satisfaction I have with the whole process, Jonathan. I also want to thank you for being accessible throughout the installation-showing up to check on everything during the thick of it, and showing up again at the very end to make sure everything was complete and that I was happy and understood how to use the system, especially the smart thermostat and its basic functions. When our 30-year old furnace decided to quit on one of the coldest days in SoCal, I called AZ because they had installed an A/C unit several years ago and I was very impressed with their service. And they did not disappoint this time either! The tech who first came, Jack, was polite, informative and helpful. When we decided to go with AZ, they were able to schedule an installation in 3 days. The installation crew showed up at exactly 8:00 am and under the command of Rodrigo (Nino) went right to work. I can't believe they were able to install a new heater and replace 14 ducts and be finished by 4:00 pm. They actually left the area under the house in better condition than they found it. I am very impressed with the entire company -- from the office to the installers, everyone has been responsive and capable. I got referred to AZ from Costco last year and I'm glad I did. AZ installed my new Lennox unit ear and did a terrific job, it works great. When AZ returned for a periodic inspection this year, Marco from AZ found that my dryer appliance air-vent on the side of my house was blowing lint into the air conditioner grille, causing blockage and build up. Marco cleaned the lint build-up and installed a hard elbow and a duct extender on the dryer vent so the lint would be expelled away from the unit. But a day later I realized I needed the extender pipe needed to point in the opposite direction so I called and asked AZ if it could be modified. Marco returned and did the modification perfectly. The good thing about working with AZ air conditioning and heating is that they partner with Costco and Lennox. We installed a variable speed furnace in our home this past October. Everything went great until we tried to turn it on and it just wasn't heating. I called the office and this girl, I think her name was Gabby or Gabriela, arranged a technician to come out and take a look at it that same day. Turned out there was a malfunctioning part by no fault of AZ and they replace it right away. The technician Felipe was very helpful and hope that next time we do a maintenance, that he will be the one to come do it. So far everything has been working properly and we are enjoying the furnace. Initial quote and install very quick and efficient. However, follow through with closing permit and inspection horrible. My last house they never got the permit closed and my current house has been over a year of inspections and still not closed. They don't know what inspections need to be done so each time the inspector comes out to sign something off, the inspector says we need a different type and additional inspection. AZ forgets to schedule and follow up on remaining inspections and repairs/corrections needed. I have had to call them on two different occasions the day of to find out they canceled my long awaited inspection the day before. They state their log shows they left me a voicemail, however I show no record of such. So, twice now I have changed my schedule and plans to accommodate them and now I have to once again. It seems once they get paid, the ball gets dropped. The equipment seems to be great, which it should for the cost. I feel like I have to guide them down the inspection process to get my city permit closed. read more
