My first Mac from DV Warehouse was that all contained unit with the screen and drive in the case. I loved it. It went to my brother when I got another one. A coworker bought one and loved it. I grew into my first refurbished iBook (Opal is still working and is what I'm typing on today) and DV guys have always given me the truth about what the model I own is capable of doing and when internal part upgrades are just useless. In fact, when they haven't had an item or thought it could be found at a better price, they have always tipped me off and sent me to a better source. I have grown to trust them. I now have a Mac Book, Touch, iBook, and have sent dozens of people to get refurbished items from them (great for students, awesome prices,.) If it wasn't for this resource of used Mac products, I would never have been able to afford Mac products. Yes, used stuff is buyer beware. They have an 800 number that you can call and talk to them about what you need. If you get the feeling that the rep you have on the line doesn't know enough, hey, ask to talk to someone else. They are in LA, Ive always considered it "Melrose" because they are near the Paramount Movie studio. I drove down there for each of my purchases because it's close enough and I wanted to see what I was purchasing. They do have a "newer" sales guy (Chris?) that is no where as good as they used to have. Last time I was there he forgot to give me back my credit card... and I had to drive back to get it. He's pleasant but not a dedicated Mac person so "ask for the girl" -- I don't know her name but she's wonderful. If you have time during the work day, consider calling ahead and seeing the item before you buy. Parking is on the street and not good in case you go but it's a cute location. These people are total idiots and will totally rip you off! I ordered a video card and usb expansion card with express shipping. The day it was supposed to arrive, and it didn't they told me the usb expansion card was discontinued. Idiots, selling discontinued hardware on their website. When it finally arrived in 7 business days (when I actually paid for 3 day delivery) the video card arrived in fed ex box wrapped in bubble wrap! No original box just the card and bubble wrap! THEY ARE TOTAL IDIOTS. When I couldn't get the video card to work I contacted them for support. They boast top quality technical support and customer service. This is total BULLSH!T. They are totally lame. Some useless rep by the name of Nino just sent me email to send it back. Bought a used power supply for a Power Mac G4 from DV Warehouse which was dented and dead on arrival. I could care less about the dent, but they should have tested it before sending it out. I had to pay return shipping to get it back to DV Warehouse although they did promptly and quickly send out working replacement once they'd received it. Overall not a horrible experience, but still annoyed I had to pay return shipping for their bad product. read more

I bought a "NEW Mac Pro Case" The case I got was not new. It appeared to be a Mac Pro that they gutted all the parts out of, then put new plastic wrap on the outside so it would look new. The case was dented and scraped. Parts that are supposed to come with a 922-8000 Mac Pro case were stripped out of this. Including the optical drive doors which aren't even replaceable. It took 2 days of hacking for me to get the doors off another case, and installed and functioning on this case. There were also no wire harnesses, no hard drive thermometers. And best of all, they just poured a cup full of random screws into the case. So when I opened it up, the screws were just bouncing around inside and I had to gather them all up. I will NEVER EVER buy from this company again. I would have returned the case and let my credit card company deal with them, except I'm in a bit of a rush and didn't have time to wait for a new case to arrive. read more

Don't waste your money on these guys. I purchased a mother board for a Mac Pro that died. The Geek Squad was unable to make it work so I returned it. Their said they would take it back minus a 25% restocking fee! Yikes. A week or so later a representative couldn't understand why a a refund had not been made. I assumed it had been done and today - six weeks later - noticed that the refund had not been made after all. Now they claim that the item was damaged and refuse to make the refund. This is how they pawn off faulty merchandise on people who assume they are trustworthy. Don't fall for it. Better to buy from Ebay or Amazon who stand by their products and care about buyers enough to provide buyers protection. read more

WE GET WHAT WE PAY FOR, I suppose. My fault to have trusted: THEY ONLY WARRANTY 90 days! They avoided addressing my question during a chat and even later insist Apple is the manufacturer. In attempt to obtain an Apple Magsafe cord that leads to the converter, their chat rep misled w/o any explanation. The person didn't address all questions, even after asking again, such as the warranty issue. Upon receiving the product and realizing the product is not manufactured by Apple, they insist that it is. They will only warranty for 90 days; but, they charge shipping and keep 25% of the sale, w/o covering the return shipping either. So if I return the item, I lose more than half of the money they received after insisting that Paypal pay them prior to receipt of the purchase. For a worthwhile sale, Other World Computing is far more reputable with more professional and worthwhile warranties. read more

Let the buyer beware. They are selling "refurbished" Mac Book Pros that have the bad video chips that overheat. I paid 800.00 bucks for a Mac Book Pro for audio recording in the field. Worked great for just past the warranty period and the video died. I had never heard of this problem but found plenty about it in the Mac Forums. If they claim they don't know about this issue you probably shouldn't buy a computer from them. The Mac's are fine as long as your doing email or word processing but when you start processor intensive apps like audio or video the solder points on video chips melt. read more

I have an old Mac which runs some really expensive software bought before the recession when I was rich! (the software is very useful for me). My keyboard began to fail and I thought that I would have to buy another Mac to reload and use my software, if indeed it would load on a newer model. An ~$40 Keyboard from DV Warehouse saved me $thousands! Without giving them a name or even telling them that I'd come in to buy it, I showed up about an hour later. They had set the part aside for me and remembered my phone call. Great price and selection but the shipping price was a bit high and the quality of the replacement left a little to be desired. It was a used piece, which is fine, but that wasn't absolutely clear when I ordered it, and it should be. When I called to complain their customer service was good and they offered me a chance to return it, reminding me I had 90 days in which to do so, which is an excellent return period window, but I declined for the time being to see how the new piece would work out. I can live with the replacement piece I received and would order again from this company but only after ensuring what I was ordering was what it appeared to be first. read more

Bought a battery for my macbook pro, the sale condition was BRAND NEW, GENUINE. Few days after installation the battery just charged to maximum 98% and after charged to 98% it went down to 94% in about 5 minutes and then drained very fast, even the remaining time showing 6 hours it drained in about 2 hours. Called customer service and they asked me to fill a RMA form, which was submitted and they claimed it wasn't, submitted another form couple of months after. They wanted me to send them the defective battery for them to check it and then decide if a replacement was going to be shipped back to me. First, after buying a BRNAD NEW battery I dumped the old battery on my Macbook, I can't leave my working tool with out a battery. I explained this to Bernadette, but she refused to send me a NEW battery before I send the defective one. I didn't wait to receive that battery to pay for it. Also I don't have to pay freight to send back a defective battery, they should assume the cost. I spent almost 80 USD for a defective battery, I don't recommend anyone buying from this company as they not really support their products. I should have done the right thing from the beginning, spent USD130 at the Apple store and get a good working battery. Last year I ordered a new unibody Macbook display unit from DV. It arrived new. Unfortunately, I could not get the backlight to work. The Macbook did have an image on the display, but it was not lit. The Macbook did display using an external monitor. I had to return it, and only had to pay the restocking fee. I was satisfied with their service and would use them again. read more

I have purchased a few computers from DV Warehouse through out the years, but now things are changing for the worst! They're having many inside problems now! 1. There front desk person is very slow at completing conversation and taking orders. 2. They make promises they can't keep with repairs. (I had to call the policeman to come and get my computer!) A hour later they called and said it was fixed. On top of that, they changed me $250.00 for a used outside casing that should have been fixed the first time it was returned a few days after purchasing. 3. When I previously purchased the computer, I found out my power button was slowly sinking inward. So I took it back and they said they have repaired it. The last day I came to get my computer, another tech ask me, did I put tape on my power button inside the case. So many red flags!!!! Warning!!!!!! Be careful!
