My experience with DWM was short and thankfully I didn't end up renting with them. I identified a property they were offering and contacted Erin Preston in their office about it. She said she would come out to show me the property but the next day just didn't show up and didn't even have the courtesy to email or call me back. A few days later, they re-list the house so I inquire again. This time I actually get a showing with an agent who was relatively unprofessional and did not know anything about the property. Plus; they didn't include a refrigerator - a basic living standard in this day and age. They said they had a "bad experience" in the past. With a refrigerator? Anyway, I applied for this house and continued through the process- wasting $30 on the application fee that I'm sure they just pocket rather than putting it to any real use. 2 days later I get an email from, guess who, Erin Preston. I call her back an hour After receiving the email and I'm told she's "out of the office" so I left a message specifically asking her to call me back the next day. Of course, she didn't and I haven't heard from her since - not even in regards to my application that I paid for! Based on this experience, I would strongly caution anyone from dealing with this company. If they treat people who are TRYING to enter into a paying contract with them this poorly, imagine how they'd treat you once they already had you on the hook for however much a month! Bottom line, don't trust them and don't expect them to understand the concept of customer service. Too bad DWM turned out to be just another shady company. I have worked with DWM as a property owner for a bit over 1.5yrs now, and I can say they are amazing. They take care of everything without fail or hesitation. I have noticed some poor comments on here by renters, and while I can't speak for them, I can say that I know my tenants are happy with DWM. They offer many services that I know other property management companies do not. What's the point of a management company if you still have to be involved? You have to be kidding!!!! This is the worst property management company I have ever dealt with. If I could rate them with zero stars I would!! I applied for a house per the instructions of the leasing agent. Paid for application for me and my wife. Received vague information in regards to a move in date and then nothing. They never ran our application and until I called they told me the house was rented!!!. I had to insist on a refund of my application $$.. This place is a total joke. I would hate to see what they do to the peoples property they are managing. Incredibly unprofessional. Unless you know an agent directly you can call and inquire all you want but do not waste your time waiting for a call back they will never return your calls. You can be assured to deal with very rude and incompetent people at DWM. They will insist you fill out the application first and take your money with out ever allowing you to view the property. They found me a really good tenant but they didn't do much beyond that. I was contacted by my mortgage company for late payments 3 times because they didn't pay on time. I have never had a late payment before or since I fired DWM. Repairs called in by the tenant were not made. My tenant said that they were generally non responsive. There was a heavy leak at the water supply on the front of the house that was going on for months before I heard about it and repaired the leak myself. This significantly increased my tenant's water bill and could have damaged the foundation on the house. When I called my rep to find out why nothing had been done to reapir the leak I was told that she called the landscaper and he never called her back so she left it at that. A landscaper isn't qualified to fix a plumbing problem! The rep even called the tenant to see if it had been repaired. When the tenant confirmed it hadn't been fixed, still nothing was done. The rep didn't go out to look at the problem or call anyone else to fix it even though my house is about 3 miles away from their office. The lock was broken on the front door for quite some time but the tenant would come and go through the back door because she didn't want to deal with DWM. I hired them to take care of the tenant and my property for me because I moved out of the area and couldn't be a responive landlord. Even living 3 hours away I was able to assist the tenant more than DWM. Once the tenant was found, they just collected my check and provided little property management. Perhaps because my place is in West San Jose and not Los Gatos my property wasn't worth their time. read more

I am completely horrified by every interaction I have had with DWM throughout my lease duration. Filling out paperwork and getting the ok to move in was a nightmare and I hoped the experience would get better and that maybe things would get better throughout my stay. However I mistaken. When I asked them to do routine maintenance they often put it off due to cost and try to say it was unimportant. But, the biggest problem was the move out experience. They try to blame many of the existing problems on me and get me to pay for previous faulty plumbing. I would not recommend this company to anyone in the future and would advise you to look further if ever looking to rent. read more

I was surprised to see the first review posted - because I had the identical experience! I was shown a property for rent, encouraged to fill out a rental application and gave them a check for the application fee. Then I called and called, with no response, until I showed up only to have someone tell me that the property was already rented (and had been when I saw it the week before). When I asked why the other leasing agent had shown it and taken my application, they told me that sometimes their agents don't know what's going on. Could have figured that out on my own, I guess! This is the worse property management company ever!!! Nicole, the property manager, provides very bad services!! I understand that the property owner pays her but that doesn't mean she can treat the tenants like they're all stupid people!! They refuse to do repairs and when they do, they just come in without notice!! And she just ignores complaints when other tenants break the rules on the contract. The apartment I live in now used to be a nice clean building but not anymore ever since she took over!! I had a management company renting out a property before and the service was excellent comparing to this one. Don't think DWM is better than other property management companies simply because they are based in Los Gatos because they are not! They are fully it when they do before and after walk throughs. Be sure on have someone else there or an attorney and take pictures when you do the before walk through. I should not have to take care of prior tenants damages or uncleanness. My move condition was much better and cleaner that when I moved in but DWM still did charge me for clean services when in fact I already did professional cleaning. DWM should have clean the apartment prior to my move date which I am certain they dock from the prior tenants deposit. read more

I never have worked with a Property MGMT Company before but DWM Property MGMT & dealing with Kira let me say she very UNPROFESSIONAL. I meet her to see 1 of there Property which I really LOVED. I couldn't Believe my eye she come dressed down really dressed down Tennis shoes jeans and a tee shirt when she introduced herself to me I said what.. she told me how to apply on line so I did everything I was to, They took the application fees immediately but Kira never called me back I knew that this townhouse wouldn't be available until the end of July.. I kept calling her after 2wks no call back said what going on then she need more information like what she could have returned my 1st call she the type of person that email only which I feel is kinda strange.. so the communication with KIRA supposedly a rep of this Corporation they allow her to be so UNPROFESSIONAL AND VERY RUDE TO UPCOMING TENANTS.. Please look else if you have to work with Kira. I'm not PERFECT but you contact people to advise of what to do I'm a Supervisor I wouldn't hire a person like Kira no customer service skill once so ever... Bad Bad Bad.... Look elsewhere read more

This company is very unprofessional and horrible at keeping in touch.. I looked at a house in san Martin about a month ago and applied for the property and no one ever got back to me! I called almost every other day and asked for the agent that helped me but they were NEVER available and I never got a call back!!! I would not recomend them to nobody they suck!!!!! So after a month of trying to contact them they finally email Mr back efter I wrote this review and this is what they have to say , " Good Morning, I am in receipt of your email regarding "bad yelp reviews" and i have been told of your phone calls to our office. The owner is not interested in the situation for which you presented to them so I'm not sure what else I can do for you but should these types of threats and your use of profanity continue we will be forced to seek outside assistance in this matter." DWM handled my San Jose house for 2 1/2 years. They are a very professional company and did an excellent job managing my Property and always addressed any repairs the tenants reported asap. Which both us the owners and our tenant appreciated. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others. I needed a new roof and living outside the country I could not get back to handle things. Kira got me quotes and helped make sure that the roofers did as was promised. Don, the owner has his finger on the rental market and suggested things that I could Do to get the highest rental price. They do credit checks and employment checks and really make sure that they find a dependable tenant. read more

This management company seems great at move in but then goes straight down hill. We had ongoing problems with our rental that were not addressed or were never resolved. Our property manager rarely returned calls or emails in a timely fashion and we spent a lot of time tracking her down for answers. We had high hopes for this company after a good initial encounter. But a year later we are moving out and moving on. If you want to spend a great deal of free time trying to track down your property manager to get them to take care of the property then feel free. If you are looking for a rental where the property manager actually is responsive and issues get resolved then I would look elsewhere. read more

We rented our home while we moved abroad for two years and are so grateful to have DWM in place as we left. Nearly everything was managed professionally. From making sure the tenants were vetted and the payments handled well. As we were leaving the country, our hair was proverbially on fire as we got things into storage, packed 8 big bags to come with us, etc. So the last thing we wanted to do was to make sure the house was cleaned, paint touch-ups done, etc so we handed that off and we heard from the tenants that everything was done well, very professional. As is normal for all houses, we had things that needed to be taken care of. Apparently during some big storm, one part of our fence came down, the furnace died after a good 20 years etc. And DWM managed the vendors perfectly; so well that our neighbors commented on the quality of the fence work, etc. We have a super nice house, so we were a little worried about renting it but I would do it again in a heartbeat if DWM was involved. We had found the first tenants ourselves, but when they had to abruptly leave, DWM found the other tenants and we had zero downtime between tenants. But, there were two glitches. We had allowed the renters to have dogs, so we said we HAD to have the window seat cushions all professionally cleaned because I'm super allergic and have severe respiratory issues. Instead of doing that, the cushions are now collecting even more dust in the garage. They weren't bagged, or anything. And it costs thousands of dollars to get professional cushions done. I'm now trying to chase down a vendor who can clean things. This is annoying, because there were 3 weeks between the tenants leaving, and us coming back, and we just needed it done. So I was surprised to say the least that it wasn't done before we got back. And the other glitch was that even though we have a super well designed water system, we came home to a nearly dead landscape. It turns out the renter had turned off the water at the valve, so the sprinkler system couldn't work. That meant that for 3 unbelievably hot weeks, nothing was watered. When I asked Nicole about it, she said it was just the drought and seemed nonplussed. That seemed ... off. My husband really enjoyed interfacing with Nicole; I swear that even when she's on vacation, she got back to us ... yesterday. If we had been the tenants and faced the nearly-dead yard, or the cushions needed cleaning, I bet she would have done it super-quick. I was just surprised that she didn't do it for the owners. read more

Not responding quickly is bad enough, but not disclosing easements or problems with neighbors is another. Slow to respond. Not responsive at all. I've already turned away business from them and will continue to do so to the very best of my ability. I have been a tenant with DWM for a few years now. When we moved in Michelle and Erin were our property managers. I felt they did a great job and even when we had a after hours emergency not only did we get a call right away from Michelle but she came to our house to make sure things were taken care of. Erin has always been a delight. Both ladies have always been professional and polite. I think Michelle has left the company now and I can see why. We have now been dealing with Jeff and Nicole who have been absolute nightmares. They do not call you back and do not email back. When I told Nicole what was going on she told me she had other things to do more important and HUNG UP on me!!!! Really? Hanging up on clients, WOW!!! It is rather obvious she and Jeff both do not have anywhere near the knowledge and professionalism of Michelle and Erin. I took some time to research the company and found that up until recently their "agents" had licenses listed as "inactive unable to do business" and their "handyman/contractor" does not have a license at all. In fact he is a bouncer at a bar in Los Gatos. Really?? This is what owners are paying for and we as tenants are forced to allow them into our homes if we want things fixed. The broker/owner Donald Moser has done a great job of presenting this elite looking company but it is nothing like that so don't be fooled. They are horrible to deal with once you move in. They are friendly, timely, and will cater to any questions and issues that you may have. They're excellent at finding you properties that will fit your budget and don't leave out important details that are vital to lease agreements, like other companies do. If I hadn't gotten repayment of what I was rightfully owed back on my deposit, the rating would have been lower. Don, the owner does seem to care and apparently was unaware of my situation until I called to set up a meeting with him. He genuinely seemed to listen to the issues at hand and rectify. Rather than typing up 2 pages of issues and examples, I can summarize by saying: The problems I had with DWM are mainly due to poor management and lack of communication. I believe it was a combination of Nicole's poor management and communication skills (and tact) as well as rude and greedy owners. I have many emails with examples of how poorly things were managed and even have a threatening voice mail from Nicole stating that I need to "change my attitude because DWM is a very large reputable management company and that I should be careful not to burn any bridges around town." I was made to feel this was solely a business deal and having a home for my family was the least of their worries. I also personally know two other families that have had a similar poor experience with this same exact property. So I am writing this in hopes of putting an end to this behavior. If it is also the property owner that is causing these issues then perhaps Don needs to reconsider who DWM represents. read more

DWM Property Management managed a property for me for 2 years, and all but the first month was a horrible experience. They were slow to respond to tenant issues, they asked me to follow up in more than one case because they were too busy, and they misreprented my comments to the tenant. As soon as I changed property managers the tenant issues were qucily resolved, the number of issues feel to almost zero, and they became model tenants. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.This is the worst property management company you will ever encounter. We rented from them in June of 2011 and signed a one-year lease agreement. The rent was $2,895 per month. while, it seemed high that is the going rate for homes in the Cupertino school district. They were ok in terms of taking care of problems that would arise. They usually took a couple of days and I had to call a couple of times but really nothing our of the ordinary. However, a month before our lease was up, we were informed that the rent would be going up to $3,350. That is simply highway-robbery and I guess Don Moser, the owner of DWM must have felt that we would be renewing since I did mention to him how pleased we were with the schools. I was outraged by the increase. We did move out and I left the home impeccably clean. Furthermore, I also left a pool fence we had installed because the owner wouldn't install one (isn't it against the law to rent to families with children, wihout a fence around the pool?....anyway, that is another story). Anyway, when we received our deposit back, DWM properties deducted $1,000 for a stain that we made on the hardwood floor. The stain was small less than 3 inches by 2 inches, and that cost $1,000? DWM properties is in the business of ripping people off. Hope you never have to do business with Don Moser! read more
