Extremely Disappointing Customer Service…read more My husband and I have been coming to the John Wayne Marina restaurant for several years, which makes writing this review especially disappointing. We made our reservation over a week in advance to celebrate a much anticipated vacation with one of our "normally" favorite Sequim restaurants. We specifically requested a particular table. In fact, we originally wanted Saturday, but we were told that table was unavailable that evening. Because that table was important to us, we changed our plans and requested Friday at 4:30 PM instead. We were told they already had a 3:30 reservation and 5:00 was the earliest time they could offer. When we arrived, the table was already recently occupied. I politely explained to the hostess why we had changed our reservation. She acknowledged there were no notes on the reservation and said she would check on the table and get the manager. Manager "Melody" came out, and after I calmly explained the situation again, the first thing she said was, "We instruct our staff that we can't guarantee any table, but we try to do our best." That response completely missed the point. Had someone simply said, "I'm so sorry. We made a mistake. Let me see what I can do to make this right," the evening there could have been salvaged. Even if the requested table wasn't available, offering an appetizer, a dessert, or simply showing genuine concern would have demonstrated that customer service still matters. Instead, the conversation immediately shifted to explaining the restaurant's policy rather than acknowledging the restaurant's mistake. Ironically, if tables truly aren't guaranteed, then we should have been able to reserve that same table on Saturday--the very night we were originally told it wasn't available. The explanation simply didn't match what we had been told when making the reservation. Rather than let the experience ruin our evening, we politely thanked Melody, left, and had a wonderful dinner at local Italian restaurant, Tedesco's, where Sarah offered terrific customer service. In the end, our vacation evening turned out great--but not because of the service we received from the Dockside. Mistakes happen. Good customer service is measured by how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, this experience demonstrated a lack of ownership, empathy, and hospitality, from management, specifically Melody. After several years of dining here with a great view and exceptional food, unfortunately, the service was incredibly disappointing.

I was starving and asked for bread out quick which they accommodated despite it not being on the menu as an app. We had a little lag for our food, but they were slammed busy, not a single spot open at the bar or the tables. The servers were hustling, they did a great job and it looked tough. A lot of TVs with sports going, golf especially of course. Nice long bar.

We use to get cards in the mail for $10.00 off for birthdays & anniversary's, but lately we have not been receiving any. Our waitress, Cloe could give us an explanation, except to fill out a new form. After waiting for some time to place our order, she some how placed my grandson's order on hold. His dad was finished with his meal before he every received his Burger. Cloe only offered a free salad, for her mistake! Upon receiving our bill, Cloe failed to take off my 15% discount for being a Totem card holder. We had to wait for this correction. Then she returns after making a several passes by our table with the bill, but we had to wait longer again for a pen. She spent more time chatting up top of the stairs! Our party of 5 were discourage, to say the less & hope we never have her again, if we should decide to ever come back. I asked the very nice Hostess if I could leave a note for the manager, who was not to be found, regarding our dining experience tonight. I even left my name & phone number. Some patrons came after us and were disappointed. Food amount was large - eating by itself, even very hungry - was 2 meals for me. Rice is extra, doesn't come with the entrees unless you order a set combination meal.
