Love these little shops that are sprouting up all over DC. Each Peach is definitely one of the (even) better ones. I absolutely needed baby root vegetables, which I know sounds ridiculous but there you have it. Did you know how hard it is to find damn baby root vegetables? Amazingly difficult. Each Peach was my last resort, although it should have been my first stop. They have a beautiful fridge with a wide variety of veg in all the colors of the rainbow. I managed to find some adorable, bright pink baby turnips and vibrant golden beets. Snapped up some semolina and gawked at everything else (local meats and so much more!) for a few minutes before I vowed to be back soon. If you're in the Mount Pleasant area I total envy you. The basil infused olive oil gets 5 stars. Customer service: it's good enough. Everything else is meh. The sandwiches: meh. I had the Newton with turkey, brie, arugula and spicy mustard served on a baguette. Liked the baguette but would have liked it alot more without the mustard. Arugula already has a peppery flavor. The pungency of the mustard becomes stronger with every bite. The brioche buns: meh. The chicken salad: dry and bland until I turned it into curry chicken salad. Mint brownie: meh! Short version: the olive oil is the bomb and the baguettes are too. read more

Each Peach is a really cool little place, except for the staff there are awful. I walked in recently, early one morning, right as they opened, with only one other customer in the store. After finally deciding to finish up(everything there is very interesting!), I went to check out. There were two employees having a conversation behind the register, and one proceeds to ring me up. Without any consideration that a customer should be acknowledged, they just continue to talk about whatever. I brought in a bottle to return, and placed it on the counter, mentioning it is for the return. The girl took it, didn't even look at me, and continued with her important conversation. I'm pretty blown away by the lack of attention to your second customer of the day. These young hipsters need to get a grip....that's just rude to not acknowledge someone. I think a little mom-and-pop shop is great, and I think the quality of their stuff is pretty good. Prices are decent, and the location is convenient for the area. But the WORST customer service!! Love having this little hidden gem of a seasonal/sustainable/organic grocery store in the neighborhood! Lots of fresh produce year-round, much (maybe all?) of which comes from a cooperative of Lancaster County PA farms, modest selection of dry goods/dairy/frozen, in addition to a beer/wine shelf and a deli/soup counter. To go soups, sandwiches, and to-go dishes are delicious and affordable, definitely worth a try. For a small place, they really cram a lot into there! Prices are a bit high, but not beyond what you'd expect for any small market, let alone a small market with quality food standards. Each Peach is also a pickup spot for the Smucker Farms CSA share (which comes from the aforementioned Lancaster Co. Cooperative). read more

I went to Each Peach on 5/9/20 Let me just begin by saying that I can't even recall when I was treated so rude at a store, let alone a neighborhood store. The sign by the cashier said, Don't touch if you are not going to buy it! I should've snapped a picture of it. Seriously. What happened to the tone? A live person might snap at you due to stress or their own issues, but when you put a sign, you have time to think about the language you're going to use. Speaking of snapping. The whole experience was just so unpleasant that it left me with a pit in my stomach. There's a line to get inside, it's how it is now, we all get it. When I joined the line, there were only 6 people in front of me, and I waited about 25-30 minutes to get in. The cashier, an Asian girl (I'm using this to identify the person, nothing else. I'm Asian myself.) was so extremely rude to me and then to the next customer, that it just left me speechless and unprepared to address it on the spot. We were trying to be considerate and quick and not hold the line of people still waiting outside. When I pointed out that the item she just ran costs almost twice of what the price tag says, she just quickly looked at the label in the fridge and said, it's probably sold out, do you want it? I bought it, because I felt bad. The total time I spent inside the store was 5 minutes. While I was looking at things at the store, she was using very short phrases like, Are you done? in a very unpleasant tone. And when the next customer came in, she basically told me to leave. It's one customer at at time! The TONE!!! She used the words "please" and "thank you" exactly ZERO times, while just rushing customers with her unfriendly attitude. Believe me, I know the difference between neutral, polite and unfriendly. No consideration for the fact that people spent a long time to get to this store to give them business. Since when did we start treating customers like that? Especially when the prices for ALL items, including the very ordinary (not gourmet or artisanal) are at least twice as high. I heard some other customer say, this store is doing price gouging in this situation. It was my first time there, I waited in line for a long time, I was determined to check it out and support the local shop. It's not like there're no other stores to buy food, of course I prefer to walk a mile to Trader Joe's where there's always a friendly and warm atmosphere, and that transfers to customers. These are difficult times, and essential workers are stressed out, and so are we. We are all in this together, and we'll pull through! It's easier to do if we treat each other with respect. The attitude and prices at Each Peach don't reflect that. read more

I think that Each Peach has a lot of potential. It reminded me of Smucker Farms on 14th St. The staff was really nice and they had some interesting items. I think that the highlight is going to be the items made in house (the hummus looked tasty). My only concern is that the overall selection was somewhat limited, random, and at times expensive. There were several items that I normally buy, but it was more expensive than Whole Foods. I bet they will get a good sense of what the neighborhood wants pretty quickly and I wish them the very best! I'm never coming to this store ever again. This is just another gentrification chic store in the middle of Mt Pleasant with unpleasant workers who are indifferent at best and blatantly rude at worst to non-white customers. I've come into this store multiple times and I've had staff members push past me, reach around me, and generally ignore my presence in the store until I pull out my card to pay, but today was the last straw. I went in today to pick up some of their bread and an elderly Black woman was asking for a receipt because her employer would give her a hard time without it. The cashier serving her became increasingly aggressive with her because they didn't understand what she was asking and kept yelling at her that the machine that prints receipts was broken. When another associate came to assist, the cashier abruptly turned away from the woman and blatantly ignored her trying to thank them for their "assistance". There are so many other markets to choose from on this strip and I will not patronize such a blatantly anti-anyone-but-white space. read more

This adorable little store has finally opened and since I walk down Mt Pleasant St. every day I had to stop in and see what exactly it has to offer. It is a very cute little market that has produce, cheese, sandwiches, hummus, and packaged goods like grains (quinoa, couscous) and snacks (kashi bars, pretzels). I tried the hummus and it was delicious and decently priced (3.90 for a large tub). Other things were a little over priced ($6 for a box of kashi bars that I could get 2 blocks away for $2.90 at Target). Each Peach Market is a great addition to the best neighborhood in DC (I am not biased or anything) as it offers a convenient place to get fresh and healthy foods at great convenience. I think it will do very well if it focuses on selling things that aren't already easily accessible at Best World, Target, and other stores in the area. More of the fresh and store made things like the hummus and beet salads will definitely keep me coming back again and again for more. read more

Each Peach is a very nice addition to the local "grocery" market and a nice little hipster/trendy touch for the Mt. P neighborhood. With its organic produce and fruits, higher-end and "healthier" dry goods, and select meat/cheese/charcuterie options, Each Peach has slowly become my local stop to pick one up or two random items to complete my ingredient list. While I definitely appreciate the nature of a small business and understand the need for some mark ups, Each Peach definitely isn't the cheapest place around. I probably wouldn't be doing my weekly shopping there, but I'm glad it's there. read more

A great little market in Mt Pleasant that sells tasty sandwiches though, since it's a grocery store, there's no place to sit inside or out. I can't speak for all of the sandwiches, but The Dude is a tasty, typical Italian cold cuts with fresh mozzarella, arugula, and a balsamic drizzle. Though it's simple, straightforward, and not about to win any visual style points, Each Peach uses quality ingredients, from the delicious, toasted bread, to the use of arugula instead of spinach or lettuce. Even the Italian meats are more than your typical deli meat: they're slightly thicker and full of flavor other than salt. I'm not sure I'd make a detour all the way up to Mt Pleasant, but I would likely return if I found myself in the area again. As for the grocery aspect: it's certainly small, but it's well curated and the produce looks about as fresh as you can find outside a farmer's market. The selection of non-produce is more "additive" than "staple," but this is the type of place you go to for a jar of preserves you can't find elsewhere or a cheese that puts your partyplatter over the edge. Reason for downgrade (should really be 4.5 stars and not 4) to be honest, it's because they forgot to add one of the ingredients to my sandwich. I didn't realize it until later, but for a ~5 ingredient sandwich, seems like something that should be remembered. Other notes: at the time I was there, only one person was running the shop. Between them making my sandwich and other customers coming in, it kind of made a small hassle. Eventually another work came in (they may have been dealing with incoming deliveries) and it relieved things, but know that a small backup can occur. Price for sandwich is a little high, but not egregiously so. Maybe about right given perceived quality of ingredients. read more

First time here, even advised the sandwich maker. Was looking to have a good sandwich. Quaint, cozy "gourmet style" with a pleasant staff. Order the Park Rd., Parisien sandwich and the sandwich board stated that all sandwiches come on a French baguette. While the baguette was relatively tasty, it really wasn't a sandwich... It was more a French baguette served with a very thin layer of deli style ham and a spattering of arugula. Truly the taste was overpowered by the baguette as a result of very little meat on the sandwich and no cheese which I thought came with it, despite the pretty hefty $8.50 price tag. The listed charcuterie board options sound like a win, but don't go here for the sandwiches. read more

The sandwiches rank higher because of the bread, which is very high quality, with real chewiness, flavor and substance. The Dude is a good Italian sandwich with equally high quality cured meats. The "gourmetification" of this sandwich is quite successful. Will ask for more hot peppers next time. The banh mi is freaking bizarre. Please do not call it banh mi when it's actually filled with French country pâté with an overpowering liverwurst-like flavor. Maybe if it were sold AS a French pâté sandwich with -some- Vietnamese style pickled vegetables, it wouldn't be such a problem. But it is nothing like a banh mi. One side was smeared with the smooth pâté, the other with the coarse kind--I kept thinking I was biting into something dirty and gave up on trying to pretend I was eating a "banh mi." They seem to have a good and very reasonably priced wine selection. I saw an organic Negroamaro for 13-15 or so that I'd love to try next time. I'm glad this store is in the neighborhood and I'm sure I'll continue to find delicious items--their produce looks wonderful--to offset the depressing options available at the Superfresh that's closer to where I live. Addendum: I thought I might give the banh mi one more chance by ordering it without pâté. It was even worse. The roasted pork is cut way too thick, and they use PICKLED jalapenos, not fresh. I bought a sandwich from their place for around 9 dollars, and for what I got it was definitely NOT worth the money or time. My sandwich was literally a roll with one single slice of meat and a little garnish. The irony of it all is that the each peach is not located in an upscale neighborhood where you can easily over charge. Rather it's located in a lower middle class neighbor with prices that are not suitable for the people actually living there . This place is perfect however if your a thriving middle class hipster who loves "non gmo" and "free range meat". If you honestly want quality products at a good cost and actually have a family to support just shop at Safeway. Each Peach Market is a nice little neighborhood market in Mount Pleasant. It's conveniently located within a 5 minute walk of the Columbia Heights metro or along the 42 bus route. A great spot in the Mt Pleasant/Columbia Heights area to grab a delicious sandwich or some artisanal grocery items. I really would like to dedicate some time to highlight their sandwich counter in the back. This was easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. I got the Newton, which is smoked turkey, brie, arugula, tomatoes, and spicy mustard (I substituted hummus for the spicy mustard). All of the ingredients were extremely fresh and high quality, and this was complemented well by the crusty french bread that it's served on. Definitely returning to taste some of the other sandwich offerings! Still planning on going to TJs for my larger grocery trips (since the prices are a bit high), but I'm grateful to have a convenient option in the neighborhood. read more

At this place, a $50 donation got you a button. Or something equally idiotic. That said. I like this place. It's a bit bare but the stuff they have is good and reasonably priced. Think fresh milk, duck proscuitto, sandwich meats, pate, artisanal cheeses like real mozzarella did bufula (I think I effed up that spelling), a few vegetables, coffees, chocolates, fresh diary etc. You can't do all your shopping here, but it's a great place to come for treats. It's cute too and reminds me of some high end market in Napa. It's a treat coming in here, and people are super friendly. It's also next door to my favorite coffee place in DC. **update** they put up a no guns sign, which I'm sure criminals will follow. I live nearby and I care about where my food comes from, so I was really hoping this place would be a convenient, local alternative to WF and Yes. Turns out that, at least at this time of year, the place is full of conventional veggies from many many (many) miles away, at prices at least two to three times what the exact same products cost at the other end of Mt. Pleasant street. Kitchen staples are literally repackaged versions of conventional products, without any labeling, but with a sizable markup. (You know those pretty plastic bags of sugar that sell for over $2 a pop? That's the same Domino's you get for 1/2 to 1/3 of the price down the street.) Vegetarian proteins (tofu, tempeh) are also marked up far beyond other local prices. Maybe this place is worth more than one star if you eat their sandwiches, but otherwise, I don't really see the point. P.S. My girlfriend noticed that the first ingredient in the "homemade" BBQ sauce is ketchup (made with high fructose corn syrup). Read your labels, folks. read more

It is a market focused on the area they serve and are very excited to receive feedback to better meet the needs of their neighborhood. It is exciting to see a grocery so interested in meeting the desires of their clientele. That's cool and all but what really lights my fire is sandwiches. I work all over the DMV area and if I eat lunch it is on the run. Hence my love for all foods portable. Of course "the dude" an Italian style sandwich had my number. Cappacola, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, arugula and vinegar on a legit baguette. The kicker is this is all fresh, and gourmet but only cost $7.95! The quality of all the ingredients is unmatched even by sandwiches that cost twice as much at an unnamed butcher in Georgetown. This was seriously the best sandwich I've had in this area since moving here in 2008! Also, the decor is awesome, especially the wall mounted shelves which appear to be reclaimed lumber! They have some great essentials i.e. Good whole bean coffee, baguettes(um, they should be crusty/crispy) charcuterie, fresh veggies,organic milk etc. The roasted turkey is delicious! The staff are friendly and helpful, and you can find a lot of local items here, including yogurt and limited selections of produce. You can also find some European imports like jams & cookies. Because of its very small size and limited selection, it would be hard to do any sort of grocery shopping, so if you live in Mt. Pleasant you may still have to frequent the other larger supermarkets in the area. The bahn mi was excellent! It doesn't come on a traditional baguette for some reason but the bread choice they made was still a good one. There is more pâté than roast pork, which I loved, but be warned if you aren't a pâté lover. The pickled shredded carrots and red cabbage were fresh and crunchy too. For $9 it's a huge sandwich, good for two. Each Peach has lots of wines, I just saw, for around $10, which is great! Everything else in this store seems very expensive - I guess good if you want to treat yourself, but really they are catering to those that can afford to buy houses in this neighborhood now. read more

While I was at the checkout counter to pay, the cashier simply left and started rearranging bread for more than two minutes while the line formed. As others have said, this place is cute, has friendly staff, and lots of great specialty foods. Here are four other good reasons to check it out and keep going back... 1 - Terrific sandwiches, including favorites, the Newton (turkey and brie) and the Dude (lots of salami and other meats with mustard and banana peppers). All the sandwiches are filling and well priced ($7-8) 2 - Amazing selection of locally sourced items, like lamb merguez sausages, my favorite. 3 - If you live in the area (Mount Pleasant/Columbia Heights/Adams Morgan), it's a great community space. I've swapped advice and resources with the staff and fellow customers and always check out the community board for neighborhood events and announcements. Each Peach is also one of the pick up spots for a local CSA provided by Smuckers Farm of Lancaster County, so I'm there every week to pick up my box and a few extra goodies from the market. 4 - Lastly, Each Peach always changes things up. They sometimes have a warm pot of soup at the counter. There's hot coffee, donuts and croissants on most Saturday mornings (if you get there early enough). You can order charcuterie platters for special occasions or pre-order a local turkey or chicken for the holidays. I feel much more in tune with local and seasonal foods when I shop there. read more

Cute little neighborhood market. I buy and grind my coffee beans here. They also have a small, good selection of vegetables and fresh breads. They have a small deli in the back with fresh meats and cheeses as well as great sandwiches. I recommend the DUDE sandwich. Also, the hummus here is on point. So good. read more
