Was down the street from Rampart and Suncoast and was getting a bit hungry, been to Suncoast several times but the parking lot always looks deserted so we stopped at Rampart for lunch. Just wanted a light(er) lunch so we chose the Earl.... Seated right away, the decor was Ok, but in my mind, kinda old fashioned like your grandmothers parlor... The menu's were laminated and frayed at the edges, time for a re-do. Laila was the server. I ordered the burger with mushrooms and peppers and fries. My dining companion had the grilled cheese on sourdough with tomato soup. My burger was pretty good but the brioche bun couldn't hold up to the peppers and 'shrooms. The fries were a total disappointment. Crinkle cut, they were cold and hard. (Went home for the dogger). They really looked like something you'd buy in a bag at a dollar discount store. My companions grilled cheese was OK, but the soup was super sour to the point of being unpalatable. Wasn't worth making a fuss as we're kind of in a hurry to run some other errands. Will we be back, probably not there , as we know there are better choices there than the Earl. read more

I visit the JW Marriott on average twice a year. The Earl Grey is a great "cafe style" restaurant that serves good portioned well priced comfort food 24/7. (It's serves breakfast around the clock if you are so inclined). I've never had anything less than a great meal there. Extreme Kudos to the staff. Don't do it. Just don't. Husband and I went last night, just looking for a casual and quick dinner and this was the closest option. Or so we thought. WROOOOONG, sooooo WRONG! Hostess greeted us and got us seated immediately. Looked at the menu and decided what we wanted. Put the menus down to let the server know we're ready to order. About 3 min. later, a busser came by and brought us water. And then.... Nothing. Waited for another 5 min. and 45 seconds (I started the stop watch to see how long it'd take before we got noticed by a waiter). Of course we walked out. Let the hostess know we're leaving and she asked where we were seated. I said "Does it matter? There are THREE other tables with people!" Arrived at the JW today late and Earl Grey was the only place open. I ordered a small Tomato soup and a Caesar salad. I got chicken soup instead. Maybe the tomatoes soup ran out and she give decided to give me chicken without asking me. The Caesar salad was bland. Salad had too much ends in the salad. More ends that leafy lettuce. I ate here a few times during my stay at JW. Didn't have much of any issues on either visit. The service was good, the food was decent (think IHOP but slightly elevated) and the prices aren't all that bad considering where you are. For breakfast, I suggest getting here early to avoid the morning rush. I came at 5:30am one day and I was one of only three tables but on my next visit at closer to 8:00am, the place was jam packed and the staff were stretched thin. read more

There aren't many choices for in-person dining food late night at the hotel unless you're willing to Doordash something. We had the fish n chips, which was a pretty good deal at $12.99. It came with 4 pieces, crinkle cut fries, slaw and a side of tar tar sauce. The fish was OK...it was probably from an industrial frozen box or something you could buy at the supermarket freezer aisle. We also ordered their big country breakfast. I thought the hash browns would be shredded potatoes fried on a griddle but it was two McDonalds-like oval pieces. They were over-fried and dry. The chicken fried steak was ok. It was also a bit over fried but was OK when dipped in the gravy, which was actually pretty good. The 3 eggs over easy were good, they weren't overcooked. The English muffins were served freshly toasted and was great with the butter. Even though the restaurant was quite empty at 1AM, it was hard to flag down our waitress for ketchup, refills, napkins, togo box, etc...The service was a bit slow but friendly. Overall, the food could have been better but we knew what we were getting walking in so our expectations were low. It's a decent and convenient place for a late night bite or snack. Me and my friend decided to try the cafe around 10pm it was one of the only places open in the casino to eat. We were quickly brought to a table but the waitress who attended us was very passive aggressive for no reason. I proceeded to order the B.L.T.E.(bacon, lattice, tomato, egg) sandwich which came with potatoes. We received our order quickly enough however literally less than a minute after receiving our order the waitress brought our check out laid it on the table and said nothing then proceeded to walk away. This is without considering if we wanted anything else, drink refill, dessert, etc... This was very rude and sent the message that she wanted us to leave even though we had not said or done anything that warranted such behavior. We then proceeded to ask another waiter why the check was brought out immediately and voiced our concerns all he told us was to go to the front to pay our bill he didn't try to remedy the situation in any way. When we went to the front we asked the cashier if this was normal and they just made an excuse that the waitress had surgery at the dentist as if that made it ok somehow. The cashier apologized for the waitresses behavior but the waitress was nowhere to be found so we paid the bill and left. I have never had this happen at any restaurant I have been to, the place was run poorly as well it seemed the person next to us waited for over half an hour to get service. The food itself was decent and wasn't too pricy so it at least gets two stars however the service was dust, wouldn't go again. read more

Stayed at the JW Marriott for 5 nights. As a Platinum Elite, the free breakfast was actually breakfast at the Earl Grey Cafe. There is a special breakfast menu for those that are taking advantage of this offer. I personally loved this option comparatively to many other Marriotts which are typically breakfast buffets with powdered eggs. Being able to sit in a diner and order off a menu was a nice treat. There were ample options and it was more than filling. I ordered the BLTA with home fries, coffee and sliced bananas on most days. Hubby ordered the typical American breakfast (2 eggs, bacon, sourdough toast, hash browns) with sliced tomatoes and orange juice. I also tried the avocado toast on one of the days. The service was great and waitress even remembered our orders on day 2 and came straight over with our OJ and coffee before we even ordered. The diner was also decorated for the holidays which was a nice touch. Highly recommend checking this place out for breakfast if you are at the Rampart Casino or JW Marriott. read more

So we're just getting seated, start to look at the menu, and all of a sudden, water starts to drip from the ceiling. Then, in another spot, and then another, and then the leaks being to look more like waterfalls than drips. The servers, chef, managers, we're all bringing buckets out. Stop by for lunch yesterday before heading to our conference in the JW. My friend and I both ordered the bacon Mac n cheese and it was very filling and delicious. We were surprised how much food we actually got and how affordable the meal was. This is a rebrand from the former Promenade Cafe at Rampart. I actually really like what they did with this space, it feels "home -like" and classy with the stately gray/blue color scheme. Employees were friendly and the menu looked simple, and straightforward. I came here for lunch and ordered a simple sandwich, and the food i had was neither horrible or spectacular. It was just as i expected it to be. This cafe still has a $10.99 daily special, ask about it. Also for your prime rib lovers this is also a place that serves prime rib ... places like that seem to be few and far between. Everything was fine but definitely not as ritzy as they try. Good effort though! My prime rib was incredibly fatty. There was an entire thick piece to the left I cut off from the picture posted. Other than that, the taste was okay and the plate could have gone without those veggies. Everyone didn't mind their food so that's a plus. We were chilling at my cousins house in Summerlin and we wanted to go out for some drinks nearby. I also mentioned possibly a meal before flying back home as well. He suggested we check out the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa nearby. I haven't been so I went along for the ride. We hopped in the car and moments later, we were there. We all decided to dine there. After the party in front of us was helped, the hostess seated us inside. We were provided menus and our server came back with water. It didn't take long to decide. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak with my fries extra crispy. The kitchen didn't take long to get our order out. Our server was friendly and professional throughout the meal but too bad the Philly Cheesesteak was disappointing. It was mediocre and the meat was quite dry. The kitchen did a wonderful job with the extra crispy fries though as it was the best thing on my plate. I ate what I needed to so I wouldn't starve on the flight home but if I didn't need to eat, I don't think I would have ate much of the sandwich. Dinner entrees tasted like tv dinners. Chicken parm was a soft, perfectly formed oval patty, not handmade. Breading was soft, no crisp, similar to a warmed up precooked tray. Pasta was totally overcooked and mushy. Apple cobbler was prepared in an aluminum foil cup and was warmed from fridge or freezer, obviously not homemade fresh. Meatloaf was also lacking. Service was excellent so no complaints re staff. But if we wanted warmed up tv dinners, we would have gone to the supermarket! Have you ever seen that movie Fifty Shades of Grey? If you have, then I'm sorry for you. If you haven't, don't. My girlfriend thought that it might be fun to cuddle up and watch a strange relationship play out on screen. (As if ours wasn't weird enough for her). What a waste of time that was. I can think of 50 ways to better spend those two hours. One of which would be eating at a decent restaurant. And that we did. So I'll call this review, Three Grades of Grey. My girl and I ate with Earl on 3 separate occasions. The restaurant is situated right next to the casino floor. Windows separate you from the incessant noise of slots doing what they do. Luring you in with their flashing graphics and catchy tunes. The girl wanted to sit next to me, so rather than looking across at her with long loving glances, I was instead forced to watch as a Shark Week slot machine streamed a hammerhead swimming in a circle. It made me hungry for seafood. The restaurant was fully staffed, actually over staffed, so when a very friendly server took our order, I opted for the meatloaf. I hate sharks, and I'm not too fond of seafood. So mammal was the slated fauna for the evening. My meal was hearty and satisfying. Plenty of gravy draped the two slices of loaf and the mound of potatoes. Enough left for dabbing with the warm rolls that were served as an accompaniment. Mixed vegetables were also on the plate. I think that I enjoyed those best. Perfectly al dente (a bit of a crunch). I can't remember what my girlfriend had. Of course, she was sitting next to me. Not in line of sight. That damn shark was. But she said that her food was good. Oh, that's right! She had the clam chowder. I guess she too was influenced subliminally by our circling friend. Our other two meals were breakfasts. Both times I got the Your Way. It lists eggs and choice of meat. Which was perfect for me. A nice light on the stomach breakfast after a long night of beer, gambling, and NOT stupid movies. To my surprise, not only were there 4 strips of bacon and an ample amount of eggs, potatoes and toast made their way on the plate. I knew that the toast would be coming, but the potatoes were an added bonus. So a light breakfast it was not. The girlfriend said "you don't have to eat it all" (she always says that) but I tell her that I was raised to clean my plate. As a kid my parents would say that there are starving kids in Biafra that would love to have what you're leaving. I remember thinking, where in the hell is Biafra, and they may want to take a pass on moms frozen fish sticks.....and you wonder why I'm not fond of seafood? It's inconsequential what my girlfriend had for breakfast, at least to me. She ate it all, and besides, we were now facing the other direction where there were three TV's playing football games. This time line of sight was in my favor, and sitting next to my girl made more sense. The Earl of Grey is noble indeed. The Fifty Maids of Grey were quick, friendly, and efficient. Give them your business. Quick Tip: What I didn't mention above, is that the Earl has a wonderful chicken soup. I only smelled it, but my girlfriend absolutely devoured it. She needed a take out pick me up. I was sent on a mission to find something to settle her queasy insides. It wasn't from the stupid movie. It more than likely was the numerous glasses of grape. We were staying at JW Marriott next door, and was told our included breakfast is at Earl Grey Cafe next door. We decided to grab a quick bite to-go for breakfast before our drive home to LA. I got the Belgium Waffle added banana plus a side order of bacon. Hubby got the Croissant BTLA breakfast sandwich. The worker who took our order was friendly and our food was ready for pickup in about 15-20 minutes. We took it back to our room because there's only indoor dining at the moment. My Belgium waffle was just like regular waffle, nothing great or Belgium sweetness to it. They did provide butter and syrup which made it a little better. The portion was pretty big, so I actually still had half as leftovers at home. I tried to bring it back to life with the air fryer at home, but it was still only okay. The croissant BTLA was huge! My husband gobble it all but only after smothered all over in ketchup because it didn't have much taste. We just had breakfast. The food was okay. I did enjoy my chicken fried steak. I also enjoyed my Bloody Mary (from the bar). You have to say from the bar, otherwise you get a can of Bloody Mary. After I inquired, she magically showed up. She delivered our food. She said the potatoes took a long time as hubby didn't want onions in his. Girl, please. You never even checked on us. And then just like a Magician, she vanished yet again. It took another 12 minutes until she reappeared. Cousin wanted more hot water for her tea, hubby wanted more water, and I wanted more gravy. Earl Grey is a weak 3 star. Over the years they have updated and redecorated it to make it look more modern. The food is nothing to write home about. It's good for when you want something quick easy and don't want to leave the hotel. If you're a Marriott rewards member they have a separate breakfast menu for your complimentary breakfast and it's lacking that's for sure. Big disappointment there compared to what they use to offer. The service is 2 at best so don't get your hopes up for much attention. The menu pace is slow and the food is blah. But the ambiance is ok and it's fairly clean. So when everything else is closed hit Earl Grey up otherwise go elsewhere. read more

Earl Grey was formerly known as the Promenade Café. The place was closed for about a month while they redid the restaurant with the Earl Grey theme. The menu is much the same as before. There are five - 3 course meals for ranging from $9.99 to $12.99. I opted to get something different so I ordered the fish and chips. With the dinner items, you have a choice of soup or salad. After inquiring about the soups, I got a salad and asked for blue cheese. The salad was small but perfect for a beginning. The fish and chips were brought in a perfect amount of time after I finished the salad. It was one piece of breaded sole filet. It was supposed to come with cole slaw but there was none served with my meal. The fish was super hot when brought and was coffee shop good. There was a good amount of French fries. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate bread pudding topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. , A good ending to the meal. Service was good. A standout was the one busman who was on duty while I was there. He was there to clear dirty dishes and he brought me iced tea refills without asking. He seemed to be everywhere! He's been here for a while, and he's an asset to the restaurant. Earl Grey is a fairly decent coffee shop. I like the new decor. read more

We came here for Christmas brunch. My son and his girlfriend had the christmas brunch special (lamb for my son, beef for his girlfriend). I had breakfast (eggs, potatoes and toast). The server forget the mint jelly for my son's lamb, and his girlfriend said the prime rib was 60% fat. Neither of them liked the Yule log. So, it was a miss on the holiday specials. As for my breakfast, it was cold but good (of course, it is difficult to mess up scrambled eggs, wheat toast and potatoes). The price was reasonable, the service was okay, and the ambiance was like a typical casino and very busy. So overall, I would not return as I prefer other places for breakfast or brunch. Plus, navigating through the smoky casino to get to the restaurant was not pleasant. read more
