This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. You must have your entire party present to be seated. Be prepared for a short wait if you enjoy sleeping in and going to breakfast at 9 or 10am. Visited this restaurant a few weeks ago and was very pleased. We were able to eat outside which was super cute. The service was awesome. I ordered a skillet with eggs (which were cooked perfectly) and had enough leftover to take some home. My friend ordered a glass of orange juice and after tasting it we quickly ordered two more. Initial hostess was a bit rude to my friend when she told her she would make her get up and leave the booth she sat her in if the whole party didn't arrive asap. Early Bird Cafe is truly one of metro Detroit's breakfast diner gems. Quaint diner in the heart of Orchard Lake with a lot of rooster decor. Expect to wait for your seat on the weekends but it is definitely worth it. The daily specials are always delicious & creative but I almost always get a skillet- the veggie is my favorite. Friendly weight staff, especially if you're lucky enough to get Adrian on the weekends. The reason for 2 my star review is not the food or price. Had lunch with a friend, we were at our table for 20-25 minutes. Certainly not a long time. I'm sensitive to a restaurant needing to turn over tables to make a living for the owner and crew. However the owner, standing at the cash register could not have been more obvious or rude, giving us the stink-eye to leave. After our last bite of food we talked for possible 3-5 minutes. The owner stared at us, noticing her looking at us, I reached for my wallet, she walked over and asked for our check and charge card. Very rude. The reason for two stars is because when you walk in they don't acknowledge you until you say something. When we do ask they are completely rude about it and act as if you're bothering them. The servers are as rude as it gets, they will check on you once maybe twice the whole time you're there. The food and prices are great but the servers ruin the experience. read more

RUDE RUDE RUDE -- forget this place, it is a dump. The service is terrible. My daughter and I went here on Sunday morning. It wasn't very busy. We opted to sit outside. There was a waitress with brunette hair who asked us what we wanted to drink. We both replied coffee. She huffed and walked away. We sat there wondering what we had said or done. She c out with coffee for a couple that was seated way after us. She kept ignoring us. She eventually brought two cups of coffee, but no silverware or creamer. Again she walked away. Service was decent, nothing to complain about there. The food though was terrible. The only thing that was good was the eggs, pretty hard to mess up scramble eggs with American cheese though. I ordered hash browns, they take potato wedges, then smash them on the grill, the outside is crunchy while the inside is undercooked and just a mush and Friday taste. The biscuit... ‍ how do you ruin a biscuit... by microwaving it! Arrived at 1:45 pm for lunch when on line posting states 3:00 pm closure. They refused to serve me claiming they close at 2:00 pm. I was still there 15 mins prior to closing. The biscuits! I go in for the biscuits! Nice little quaint Restruant with a menu that is sure to please. My favorite is one egg over medium well, toast and coffee. We were out riding around today and saw the Early Bird Cafe, and I quickly remembered I ate here as a child, probably more than 40 years ago! It was called Franks back then. We quickly pulled in and as I walked in the door, it was like time stood still, the pink tile is still on the walls! Gotta love it! It doesn't get better than that! Food is amazing and the best part is you are supporting a local, family owned business. It was packed, so that tells you the locals LOVE it. The service was quick and very attentive! Came here for breakfast with some friends and might I say amazing!!! The restaurant is very small so you wouldn't expect much. However, they do have an outdoor patio which I love. I do love a good breakfast place and this is the place to go! I ordered the mushroom cheese omelette and it was by far the best omelette I have ever had!!! They have lots of options for breakfast/brunch so everyone in your group should be happy. The staff on the other hand were okay. Very disappointed in our waiter. Only came to our table twice.
