After careful review by Coy, it was determined my repair would be much less complicated (and less expensive) than I had originally feared. Tricia was an extraordinary communicator and kept me posted all day, the repair was done completely and she even came to my home to take me back to the shop to retrieve my car. While I hope it's not soon, I will most certainly return my car to Our Garage knowing that the service there is outstanding.

About 18 months ago, they repaired my older car after a coolant leak and engine problems. It was a significant amount of work, but the cost was very reasonable, and the repairs held up well. More recently, I brought the car back after a mobile mechanic damaged it while doing other work. Johnson's evaluated the car and was straightforward with me that, given its age and condition, I would be better off replacing it rather than putting more money into repairs. I especially appreciated that they didn't try to sell me expensive work on a car that was no longer worth repairing. Finding a mechanic who does good work is important. Finding one you can trust to tell you when NOT to spend money is even better. Johnson's has earned my trust, and I would absolutely recommend them.

They have been working on our vehicles for 15 years and they were great-until last year! Don't know…read morewhat happened, but it's been 11 months of misdiagnosis, with my truck released in worse shape (3 times) than it went in and parts not secured when replaced. (twice). I had to take my Xterra back 8 times in a year for an average of 2-3 days each time, having the A/c replaced (3 times- the last two under warranty), the radiator replaced, and still having the noise when the ac was on BUT ONLY when the truck shifted gears! Finally, the transmission locked up, nearly causing an accident as I tried to merge onto a busy highway. Then the nightmare really began! After waiting a week for a replacement transmission, which I was fine with, I picked up my Xterra, and the floorboard and front end were vibrating violently. It wasn't shifting properly. By the time I got home, it was "bucking". The next morning, the antifreeze leak that they were supposed to fix while it was in for the transmission was still leaking, and the radiator was missing 2 of the pins that hold it in place. Had to have the truck towed back, and the owner, Scott, told me, "It's a used transmission. You can't expect it to run perfectly." Took him 3 days to personally test drive the truck and realize the replacement transmission was defective. Another week's wait. Then it took them three more days to determine that the vibration was caused by a loose mounting. 30 seconds on Google: "Most likely cause for vibration under the driver's floorboard, worse in drive: LOOSE TRANSMISSION MOUNT. (And it started after they replaced the transmission)! Scott ignored my "request" that a different mechanic work on it than the one who installed the previous transmission. Twenty-eight days after I first brought it in to replace the transmission, for the problem I complained about for a year, I finally got my truck back! Scott did replace my transmission and radiator (that they had replaced last year), which had "suddenly" developed a broken hose connection the day after they replaced the hoses, and a fan bearing for "free." The first two were under warranty anyway. Then he gave me a dirty look when I presented the bill for (two days) rental car that he promised to pay for until my truck was fixed (would have three weeks). Scott apologized profusely, but I still had to fight with them over the prior year, be without my truck for multiple days over that year, and navigate the transport of 3 large dogs for nearly a month. I had to take my husband's CRV back 3 times, demand that two different mechanics test-drive it, once with me in the car, and watch them pull the front wheel to find the broken strut that had been making a VERY loud noise for several months, and that my husband suggested was wrong when he first brought the car in. Instead of inspecting the strut, they replaced the front and rear brakes (which they had installed one and two years, respectively- less than 17,000 miles ago) and a wheel bearing that may or may not have been bad. In order to replace the wheel bearing, they had to go in where the broken strut was. Claimed they didn't see it or hear it on the test drive. Johnsons will NEVER touch my newer Xterra, which I bought when I had no idea if/when I would ever get the old one back. The old one is being donated to a nonprofit because I no longer feel comfortable driving a vehicle whose repairs I don't trust.

I was not told that there would be a Diagnostic Fee which ended up being $75.48, Paul, the service representative whom I spoke with told me my vehicle needed over $1500 worth of work and when I mentioned that this amount was more that the vehicle was worth he was rude and told me to "either fix the car or replace it" and the quote I received was higher than other shops for the same service. What I don't get is why I was not told about the Diagnostic Fee and got stuck paying it to retrieve my vehicle, why the Shop Teacher thought Checkpoint was so great and why Paul didn't just break down the amount for the brakes but instead tried to upsell me for all this additional work! I have faithfully used Smoky Hill Auto Servive since I purchased the car (2010 Toyota Rav4 4WD Limited), so I ordered a tow to bring it to SHAC, and spoke to Phil pre-arrival. My only wish is that his location was closer to my house, and that he was open on weekends, but that won't stop me from going. Next he will see my Veloster for a seat heater diagnostic. I have been to Tune Tech twice. The first time for an issue with my cars remote start, then for a low beam bulb. Both times Tune Tech fixed the problem in a timely, professional, and affordable manner. They even checked all of my lights, finding I had 3 bulbs out, not just one. I was glad I took it to them considering I'd taken my car for an oil change a week earlier to a different company who never mentioned that I had any lights out.
