General Tsos and Singapore Chow Mei Fun
    Steve S.

I've lived in the south suburbs for a few years and East China remains the best and most consistent Chinese delivery option available IMO. Patrons would be wise to try the Singapore Chow Mei Fun and General Tso's entrees. Also, for those of you who like a crispy chicken wing, try them here. East China also offers very reasonably priced lunch and dinner combination platters. The owners are always customer centric and a pleasure to do business. I've tried others and East China remains my go-to for both customer experience and its food.

Kung Pao chicken combo. Lots of Pao, very little Kung. But still okay!

This place is pretty decent! A lot of the food is very reminiscent of the typical American-Chinese food you find everywhere, but they simply execute it better than most. The Singapore Chow Mei Fun is VERY good, and well worth ordering. I don't think I'd ever tried it before but it's basically thin noodles and curry with a variety of meats (shrimp, chicken and pork maybe) and a little spice. Yum! I also ordered the General Tso's and Kung Pao chickens "Extra Spicy" and it was medium at best... but I ordered Chicken and Garlic Sauce "Medium Heat" and my girlfriend thought it was hot. She's a wimp though, so it was probably also medium. In any case, not very spicy-- kind of a bummer. Also, half of my General Tso's had soggy breading and half of it was crispy. I think this is typical from them, as I remember that being a complaint before too. Sauce is good though, and so are the portions. Egg Rolls are fairly meh. The Singapore Chow Mei Fun is bomb though, so 4 stars it is! Picture time!

I would recommend dining in so you get to experience it right out of the fryer. The best part of the meal was definitely the breading on the fish. It was crispy and airy with each bite and the coating was evenly distributed. They do give you an option for standard fries or waffle, so I thought I would try out the waffle. I would go with standard fries next time since I do not think that the waffle made that much of a difference. The side of coleslaw was good. No notes.

We had the clams, waffle fries, regular fries, cod, and halibut. I basically have no complaints about anything. We also had the tartar sauce and MN sauce. If I were to go again, I would just get the waffle fries. They are better than the regular fries. The MN sauce was a nice change in flavor, but the real star of the show is the tartar sauce, and that is what we used the most. The fish was great. The batter was amazing and it wasn't overly battered. My wife and I both agreed that the halibut is probably not worth the extra cost. When we go again, we will likely just get cod, or maybe walleye. Service was nice. It seems to be a family-owned restaurant and they seem to run it well. Overall, this is really just an amazing place. It is very expensive, but I was expecting that for fish so I was mentally prepared. I believe we spent about $50 for everything, which is definitely a pretty penny, but again we were prepared and knew the halibut was a premium. I would highly recommend checking them out. I am planning to go back!

The whole ambience and vibe of the restaurant is really nice. Granted, we were the only people there at the time, but it's still a really cozy and relaxing atmosphere in my opinion. The waitress that helped us was more than kind as well. Very nice, great service. The only thing I wish they would've asked is if we wanted the bill split, they just brought it to both of us. I was with my sister so we had to split it later. We didn't want to inconvenience them so we just paid the full bill. The BBQ pork bun was absolutely amazing. For only $5.50, I would recommend getting it as an appetizer. It's a fairly decent size too so you could split it with at least one other person. Or, you could have the whole thing to yourself!!! I'll probably get one just for me next time. I liked the chicken satay skewers. Those are really good. But, I was expecting more than just two small chicken skewers for the cost. Really good flavor though. Then we got sushi rolls. They were all fantastic. I remember I got the Ooka Roll. It's the most expensive role on the menu, but it's fantastic. I think we also got the 150th roll. Also fantastic. Overall, I really recommend this place if you want some sushi. Just be prepared to pay a lot of money. If you need a cheaper option, there are other sushi places that are a bit cheaper close by. But these guys are very good and I will be back. I would rate 4.5 out of 5 stars, but Yelp only lets me do full stars - so I'm bumping it up to a 5. I'm excited to try their hibachi when we go back, and more sushi.

Usually there is a very nice young girl working the front. Today I decided I wanted lunch while I take a break from DoorDashing. I walked into the restaurant and saw my order was ready but I had to use the restroom so I proceeded to walk toward the back where they are located. As I'm walking back there an older crabby woman with a permanent frown moved the phone away from her mouth and yelled, "excuse me"! I looked at her in shock and said, "I'm going to use the restroom". I'm 36 and something like this has never happened in all my years of life. Why on Earth would I walk to the back of the restaurant with a secret agenda!? People usually wash their hands before they eat anyways. I 100% feel like she said that to me because I am brown. I use the restroom at many restaurants all day as a doordasher and I have never had someone try to stop me when it's very obvious where I was going. I've never written a review before but I think during the times we are in other brown people need to be aware of the microaggressions the Apple Valley staff, specifically the crabby old woman has toward brown people. I will not be coming back to this location after this Interaction. I'm not spending my money AND TIPPING people who think I'm a threat. Don't come here, drive to the Eagan location.
