This is the best dim sum restaurant in the city of Alameda . It is located at the Pacific Martina with beautiful harbor view . It was opened at 2016 by owner Eric Liu , manager Esmond Su and a team of veteran Bay Area restaurateurs , bringing a large - scale Chinese seafood and dim sum Venue to the Marina . The building was known for its circular architecture and panoramic view of the Marina and Alameda Yacht Club . Besides the main dinning hall with tall ceilings and the giant crystal chandelier in the top , it has two big party rooms . Each room can fit 12 tables . The restaurant regularly hosts community event and cultural gatherings . It is also good for wedding venue , 100 days baby red egg and ginger party , birthday party, etc . It serves authentic Cantonese cuisine. Today we came here for lunch dim sum. Seafood fried rice was flavorful, the rice was not too wet and was stir fry to perfection. Lots of seafood and the presentation was a A plus . ( see photo ) Tea marinated chicken was $12.99 for half chicken , meat tender and juicy . Chicken was marinated to rich flat. Steamed beef balls were hand craft to a good texture , fluffy and chewy. Another 5/5 . I loved the black bean sauce chicken feet , pork Siu Mai with big chunks of shrimp inside to enrich the taste , fried chives dumpling was tasty . All the dim sum were delicious and served hot . I saw the roasted pork with crispy skin . We were too full to order more . But I could tell that was an excellent dish . Service was good and very attentive . Huge parking lot and the front entrance has a den section, very roomy and is great for group picture . The building and the interior of the restaurant is classic and antique style, which is rare to be found in modern Chinese restaurants. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had on the island. I was shuffled between at least five different employees just to get seated, place an order, get a drink, and finally receive my food. I was dining alone and ordered only shrimp dumplings and a glass of Chardonnay, yet the wait was excessive. The wine arrived in what looked like a tasting-sized pour, and at $16 a glass, it felt particularly disappointing--especially since it was the only white wine option available. The restaurant itself felt neglected. The tables were wobbly, the décor was dated, there was a noticeable cigarette smell, and I even had to replace my own chopsticks after noticing lipstick on the pair initially provided. After waiting so long for my food, I stood up to ask for my check and cancel the order. At that point, the dumplings suddenly appeared, along with an offer of a fried bun as compensation. I declined and suggested they at least comp the wine given the experience, but they did not. The final bill was nearly $30 for a mediocre glass of wine and shrimp dumplings that were undercooked and unappetizing enough that I threw them away after a few bites. If you're looking for a quick meal before a movie, I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere. This was a disappointing waste of both time and money. read more

We came here for a birthday dinner with a group of 10 people on a Friday night and it was pretty dead. It was just us and two other tables the entire night. I came here for weddings and dim sum in the past before and the vibes have definitely changed. They closed off all the tables by the windows so we couldn't even get a table with a view, which defeats the purpose of their location. The staff recommended us a set dinner meal and said it was pretty good so we went with their suggestion. The dishes came out steadily but our fried rice did not come out until 7 out of the 10 dishes were brought out. You would think the rice would come out earlier so that we can enjoy it with the rest of the food but we had to ask them and tell them to bring the rice out quicker. Some dishes were good but others lacked flavor and didn't taste fresh. Some items were a bit undercooked as well. We paid $500 for this meal and it was very disappointing. Came on a Sunday morning for Dim Sum because I saw that they have one of my favorite item, which is the Zhongshan Dumplings, made with fermented bean curd & pork and steamed. I love that as a kid and still do, always look for it when I'm at dim sum, but no one has it. I was delighted when I saw it on the menu. But that quickly went away because the dish had no flavor and thats goes for ALL their dim sum, every dish we had was lacking the authentic flavor. It was blend. Very disappointing. This is what we had - Shumai, Hargow, Beef Cheung Fun, Green Beans with Fish Cakes, Roasted Pork Belly, Golden Egg Yolk Bao, Honey Walnut Prawns, Gai Lan with Osyter Sauce, Beef Meatballs, Chinese Beef Tripes, Black Bean Garlic Pork Ribs & Lastly the very Chewy Fried Calamari's. Eric and Chen went above and beyond and made the stressful process of planning your own wedding a breeze. I contacted them about a year away from my wedding to book the event date and they were able to lock in my request. Periodically leading up to the event date, they were in communication with me to confirm logistics such as head count, food allergies, meal time, etc. They were very easy to work with and very flexible. On the day of, they allowed us to come the restaurant and set up our decorations early. They provided us with additional tables upon request such as a cocktail table, cake table, sign in table, etc. Chen and his staff members were constantly helping us out with various setup task and fulfilled our every need. Once the guest arrived and the event started, Chen ensured that the food came out exactly on time as we previously agreed upon. He was lovely and constantly checked in with my Wife and I to make sure we had everything that we needed. The food itself was amazing. We had a 10 course meal and the guest raved about how good it was, specifically the lobster noodles and steamed fish. The venue itself was beautiful. It's right next to the pier and there is a park close by so we were able to get amazing wedding sunset pictures. There's a grand chandelier with red drapes surrounding it in the middle of the venue that tied everything together really well. Thank you to Eric and Chen for making my wedding one to remember. It's been years since I've stepped foot inside this restaurant. I remember their food being really good so decided to stop by for dinner with my family on a Saturday evening. I like that this restaurant is next to the water. The restaurant itself is huge and can accommodate weddings and big events. We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday and there were only a few tables occupied. The interior is a bit outdated. We ordered a few dishes but our favorite was the Mongolian Beef and the Marinated Pig Knuckle and Jelly Fish. The jelly fish was fresh and super crunchy. The buns for the Peking Duck did not look presentable and the duck itself had more meat than skin. The Salt & Pepper Pork Chops was not crispy and had a weird taste (not fresh) so it was brought back to the kitchen, and we replaced it with Salt and Pepper Fried Cuttlefish. The fish was a lot better but the batter could have been crispier. The House Special Fried Rice was pretty good and reminded me of a home cooked meal. The dishes could have been hotter when they came out. I'm glad I was able to stop by for dinner since it's been a while. Dropped by on Sunday evening for dinner service. There was a wedding banquet reception being held that was partitioned off and two large party rooms being occupied. The remaining area had about thirty tables with maybe six tables being occupied. Not many people dropping by besides the large parties. Ordered a variety of dishes to try. Don't recommend ordering the dinner set combos as the portions were significantly smaller and options weren't great to choose from. Combo sets were at the $32/person and picked roast duck, honey walnut prawns, and salt and pepper fish. Set comes with fried prawns, wonton soup, yang chow fried rice and red bean dessert soup. The duck didn't have much meat and seems like it was crisp up with oil being poured over. Salt pepper fish didnt have much flavor and the batter wasn't very crisp. Walnut prawns was standard as the wonton soup and fried rice. The fried shrimp was okay but rather have something else. In addition to the combo set, got the lobster, beef brisket clay pot and steamed oysters. The lobster and beef brisket had good flavor. The oysters didnt have much flavor and wasn't very plump. The food came out quick considering the parties going on. Not all items were eaten together as I had to ask about two remaining dishes. Service was on and off. Some individuals were attentive and at some points we have to wave down. I had dim sum here before and thought it was really good. Had good memories so will return in the future to try again. First time - would not return. We've walked by this place several times and was curious when a neighbor encouraged us to try it. We went early dinner and loved the view of the windows, but not the part of the drapes that were torn and not repaired. Lots of loud noises as the staff set other tables and poured silverware into bins nearby. Food was huge portions and that makes it hard for a couple to order the appropriate quantity. Nothing special about the house fried rice and I found the plain salad shrimp strange, given it was not obviously fried with the other ingredients. We will not return. read more

I'm absolutely confused about the bad reviews on this restaurant and definitely do not agree with them. This restaurant's food was amazing! We ordered the scallop and egg fried rice, chicken wings, roasted pig, and duck, and it was all delicious. Everything was seasoned to perfection! Our view of the water and boats/yachts from our table was so beautiful and scenic. The staff were extremely fast with our order and were always attentive. I'm shocked by the low rating on Yelp. I came here recently for both dimsum and dinner and had a good experience and enjoyed the food both times. The space is large. For dimsum I had called ahead since I had a big group of 13 folks coming, but I didn't need to as there were plenty of tables available when I showed up on Memorial Day around around 11 am. There is a large parking lot outside with plenty of spots available, and the location is quite good as it's right on the marina. If you come here early, you can snag a table with nice views by the water. Ordering here for dimsum is standard and done via marking on the menu. They have a good selection of basic items as well as some new things I've never seen before, such as daikon/turnip puff. Because there were so many of us, we were able to try a ton of items on the menu and everything was good. The dumplings are all ginormous, though the skin is thicker than I'm used to. Some of my personal favorites were: #6 steamed chicken feet, #48 pork ribs rice noodle roll, #61 fried chives shrimp egg roll, #63 fried shrimp roll. We paid ~$35 per person after ordering a TON of food and having plenty of leftovers, so I think prices here are fair. I came back the same week for Friday dinner with friends. Knowing how big the restaurant was, I didn't bother making reservations and just walked in with no issue. I didn't like the service as much the second time, as multiple servers were aggressively pushing crab on us (said they were giving us a good price at $23/lb). The food was good though. Prices are fair and portions are huge. My favorite was this pan fried rice noodle + beef and mushroom dish I've never seen anywhere else before. Just had an amazing dinner at Pacific Lighthouse in Alameda! Eric, the owner, is such a genuinely nice guy , he came over to chat and made us feel like family. His entire staff is equally friendly, attentive, and professional. We sat with a perfect waterfront view , watching the boats go in and out of the harbor while the sun went down was absolutely stunning. The food tonight was fantastic (everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented). Came here with KD and his family and we both left super happy. Beautiful view of the yacht club with boats thru the windows, and service was decent... dim sum not good! Steamed Beef Tripe Ginger Sauce - spicy? Never had it done like this ever Durian Puff - my favorite, but this place killed it for me. The skin is so thick and was lukewarm when served... possibly a fried frozen dessert item. Pan-fried chive shrimp dumplings - one of my favorite dim sum item, and this place killed it for me as well... skin is so thick.. the chef needs to master making the skin before stuffing them with filling.. horrible! I attended a wonderful banquet for 50 people at Pacific Lighthouse last week. Every dish was excellent and the service was incredible. Many people think of the restaurant as a dim sum-only place, but you should take a serious look at Pacific Lighthouse for your next special occasion banquet! We had the $688/table birthday party special menu (not on their website), and were pleasantly surprised that the food was really good, especially the BBQ combination platter, the mix mushroom diced beef and scallop dish, the abalone and bok choy dish, and the smoked sea bass dish. The menu also came with fish maw soup, honey walnut prawns, whole Peking duck, baked lobster, and dried scallops and egg white fried rice, plus a red bean dessert. The menu says it's only available for up to 5 tables. The servers were really attentive, always looking to refill teapots and water glasses, replace plates, and re-plate dishes onto smaller dishes to make room on the lazy susan, always with a smile. The restaurant is in a great setting, with views of the Alameda marina, its own parking lot, and large dining room. I can't recommend Pacific Lightouse more strongly for your next Chinese banquet! read more

Dim sum with a view. Located in the Marina Village Park, right next to the Oakland Yacht Club. Pacific Lighthouse Restaurant has a beautiful water view and of the many pleasure boats in the harbor. The restaurant has a large and spacious dining room. You can order by marking items and quantities on the paper menu, or you can hail the carts or server-carried trays going by. Definitely order the house special har gow(shrimp dumplings). Those were the largest har gow dumplings I have ever seen. The portions were generous here. We ordered our usuals: shrimp rice rolls, chicken feet, steamed pork short ribs, steamed BBQ pork buns, lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice, pork and shrimp bean curb skin roll, plus XO sauce rice noodle rolls with yellow chive. We enjoyed all the dishes, but we thought the XO sauce rice noodle rolls were cut too wide. We expected the prices would be higher due to the waterfront location, but surprisingly the prices were reasonable. After lunch we walked on the Bay Trails which were right behind the restaurant. The dim sum was pretty good, not stellar but very good. Some of the skins on the steamed dumplings were kind of thick and the soup dumplings were not worthwhile as they were mushy and broke easily spilling the soup. But everything else was very good, the taro puffs, the siu mai, pea sprouts shrimp dumplings, the pork rolls wrapped in tofu skins, to mention a few. The dumplings and the servings were very large, which was nice. This restaurant sits on the marina with a beautiful view of the water and the boats. It is truly a lovely place to eat. The service was good in terms of the servers, but the manager is kind of grumpy and abrupt. A great thing about this place is it's huge parking lot with ample parking. My grandparents love coming here and I can understand why. The water views are amazing and calming. You pick your items from the dim sum sheet and then put in your order with the waiter. The dim sum always comes out piping hot and the portions are huge. Prices are very reasonable and depending on what you order, our total always comes out to be about $20-25 per person, with plenty of leftovers to take home. No matter how delicious the food was, it cannot make up for terrible service. We came in and had a free 1/2 chicken coupon and ordered in addition 4 entrees. We were promptly seated and waited and waited. We presented our coupon to the waitstaff and our order was taken along righ the coupon. I asked for a pot of hot water as the caffeine in the hot tea keeps me awake at night. The remainder of our desk had hot tea. My hot water never showed up. In addition we wanted cold water too and when we asked for a refill the gentleman in the suit rolled his eyes and reluctantly refilled our water glasses. The wait staff came by again and asked if we had the chicken coupon and again I told them they took it with the order. When our bill came, I pointed out we were charged for the half chicken. She took the bill back and now a new man brings the bill back with just a total amount. With nothing ever noted about removing the charge for the 1/2 chicken. I've been to Pacific Lighthouse maybe 6 or 7 times previously for lunch and dinner events. This time, my husband and I were having dinner with 8 friends (4 couples). We pre-ordered our 10 dishes with the restaurant. However, there were lots of traffic issues going on in the Bay Area. The big one for us was that the Alameda tube was closed down (Webster Street entrance) due to an accident in the tunnel. We had to re-route to get to 23rd Street to get to Alameda...along with everyone else so the traffic just crawled. It took 1 hour 40 minutes from Oakland Chinatown Webster Street to arrive at the restaurant. All of us do not live in Alameda. So while we were waiting for everyone to arrive, we were asked if we'd like to have the house soup. We said yes. Afterwards, a few friends said the soup was not complimentary the way it is at other Chinese restaurants. It turned out that the soup cost us $30. I feel the waiter should have told us up front that the house soup was not complimentary as I'm sure he knows most Chinese restaurants don't charge for the house soup so most customers would assume it was free. Otherwise, we might have wanted to order a different soup from the menu. Out of the dishes we ordered, I liked the Peking duck, salt & pepper chicken wings, salted fish with pork patty, pea sprouts with garlic, dry saute string beans, pan fried noodles with pork, mushrooms, and bean sprouts, cod fish with black bean sauce, and beef cubes with XO sauce. I didn't eat the saute oysters with ginger/scallion as I don't like oysters. I also didn't care for the salted eggs pumpkin. The pumpkin is okay. I just don't like the salted eggs that coated the pumpkin. Regarding the salted fish pork patty, it was delicious but the pork patty was on the tough side instead of being tender. Our group felt there should have been more cod fish in the dish. They also felt the same way about the oysters which they said had too much onions. Otherwise, the food portion of the other dishes fed all 10 of us. The dishes were all single order. The price was $75 per couple which included tax and tip. It would have been $70 if the soup wasn't added. We all felt the price of dinner was reasonable. Considering the size of the restaurant, there weren't very many patrons for a Friday night. Pacific Lighthouse is located right by the bay, and surrounded by both housing and business buildings. There is plenty of parking in this huge lot. Like most dim sum restaurants, you do not come for the service. My family and I ordered a variety of dim sum items. My favorites were definitely the chicken feet, egg noodle roll, and sticky rice in lotus leaf. The chow fun came out first and the smell caught me! The "wok hay" was evident along with the vibrant green onions, bean sprouts and chives. The taste was good! All of the other items were good as well. The beef noodle is a surprisingly big portion which is always nice. The har gow had a nice size shrimp in them and pretty much nothing else in there. Hubby's favorite is always the crunchy topped pork buns which he enjoyed. Good proportion of filling. As we entered the 2 o'clock hour, the waiter brought out a tray with buns and tarts to offer at BOGO. I can't turn down a deal so we got the custard filled buns and black sesame buns. Each one had a nice crispy topping. Very good! Parking was easy and the bill was pretty high for the two of us but we did get extra to share with our kids. Definitely a nice place to revisit. No problem with the restroom cleanliness. I appreciate that they have several stalls and the room is spacious. Could the carpet stand a cleaning? I'm not sure how this place got anything higher than 2 stars but honestly the food is consistently mediocre. We had two dim-sum dishes that came out undercooked, the beef balls and scallop dumplings with shrimp. The server knowingly served undercooked dim-sum even when we tried to send back the dishes for further cooking. Now, we are experiencing a stomach ache from food poisoning and potential hospitalization. read more
