There are relatively few places to eat in Daphne that aren't chains, and this is one of the best non-chain restaurantsin town, especially if you're looking for more than fried stuff or regular homecooking. They put a twist with their recipes that go beyond ordinary, without being weird. Nice location in old downtown. Parking is limited but do-able. read more

We have been going there for 17 years. We moved out of town for 8 and came back to the same superb food ever! I wish I could give it 10 stars. The crab corn chowder is a must!! I was looking for someplace other than the hotel for breakfast and came across this gem. I'm not particularly a fan of quiche but I was talked into it. I'm glad I took the recommendation. It had a wonderful light and flaky crust and was cooked to perfection. The staff was very attentive. My coffee was never empty and as soon as a dish was empty it was gone from the table. A cute street-side cafe with a "mom and pop" feel and dang good food. Our server was kind and checked in just often enough. We received our food pretty quickly after being seated and were all smiles. We went during a busy Sunday late morning so were not surprised by a wait to be seated or for food, but the wait was very reasonable. Would give 4.5 if I could and truly think the service issue was due to being short staffed at the time, so all in all it was a great experience and I would definitely go back! Atmosphere: Cute local cafe with ample outdoor seating with seating inside as well...we chose to sit outside since the weather was nice. I noticed that they have rock under some of the tables and I would probably opt for one of those next time because it seems like it would be cleaner. I didn't like the fine dirt that made it almost impossible to not get your feet dirty if you're wearing sandals. The patio seating had fans which I thought was a nice touch for warmer days and also keeping flies away. Food: Tybee Island Club was fresh and yummy. Mostly tomato which made the sandwich seem like there was very little meat. The side of fruit was fresh and there was a decent amount placed in the center of the plate. California Club was delicious as well. We had it on sourdough, not a croissant like the menu stated. The side of chips were a little stale which was disappointing. Dauphin Corn and Crab Chowder I would highly recommend. It was delicious with great flavor. I personally would have liked it better if it had chunks of crab, but that might not be their recipe or everyone's preference. Still, it was my favorite item. Side Salad was overpriced in my opinion. It was a true side and $4.95. I did appreciate that they include onions, peppers, carrots and croutons. But a huge slice of tomato and a massive slice of cucumber overwhelmed the plate. Suggested improvements - I had a sweet tea and didn't get a refill despite needing one. We had to ask for refills and then I believe the waitress forgot until the manger/owner reminded her. (The other woman asked us if we needed refills and we said that our waitress was getting us one. We then saw our waitress walk to do something else and get reminded that we were waiting). She then informed me that they ran out of sweet tea but were making more...another 15 minutes went by and by that time we had finished our meal. We didn't see our waitress again so I never did get a refill and we even had to go inside to request a to-go box and our check. I'm not sure if our waitress was new (she didn't seem to know the menu very well) and not to insult her but I think a little more attentiveness to her tables would help. On the positive side, she was super polite and sweet. Over all a so-so experience. read more

East Shore is a great breakfast spot in the heart of downtown daphne! My boyfriend and I like to stop in with our pups and their outdoor seating is perfect for this! There were so many other dogs there! I got the biscuits and gravy and that was just amazing, these people are the epitome of great southern cooking! When I asked if I could get a scrambled egg for my dog they brought it in a dog bowl for him and they even brought water out for them! They are so accommodating and provide a perfect atmosphere and I love spending Sunday mornings here! read more

Stopped in for Sunday brunch but breakfast had stopped being served so we ordered the recommended sandwiches. The crab cake sandwich was good. The Philly sandwich was dripping water and the green peppers were too thick--they didn't soften on the grill. No seasoning on the roast beef; I would recommend something else. The bread was awesome. The side of fruit was cantaloupe/honeydew/grapes. Service was average--nothing extraordinary, but at least we didn't have tea spilt on us like the next table, so that's good! The ambiance is a home turned restaurant with as many tables that will fit in each room and outdoor picnic tables. It has a funky vibe that probably works better in warmer months. The place has a really cool vibe and got great reviews so we tried it while we were in town. Gotta say I was less than satisfied. First, I had to get my own creamer and silverwear. Second, we both ordered bacon with our meal. The meal arrived with sausage and we told them it wasn't correct. Their response was that they had run out of bacon so everything ordered with bacon was substituted with sausage. That's not how restaurants work. This isn't grandma's house where you just get what you get. If you're out of something, you should advise the customer so they can change their order or decide what they want to do. This is one of the best restaurants in Daphne to grab lunch. East Shore serves up tasty sandwiches and salads. I highly recommend their take on a muffalatta sandwich. It is my favorite and I order it probably 75% of the time...yummy. Their cole slaw is my favorite side and I am extremely picky about cole slaw. Their's is very good and goes great with their sandwiches. I also recommend the crab cake sandwich and the corned beef Ruben. I recently re-discovered this place when my friend was in town and we stopped in for Sunday brunch. Even though they were super busy we didn't ever find ourselves waiting for anything. I returned as a solo diner and had the most lovely time reading and watching the rain through the window in their cozy dining room.
