We were seated by very pleasant and attentive wait staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere inside is very homey and comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food however was a bit of a letdown. I had the "muffaletta". I would have rather continued driving to Mobile than be sitting in anticipation of a central grocery delicacy that turned out to be a Sysco foods deli turkey melt with an olive spread. I feel deceived as the menu didn't list the contents of the sandwich.

I should have had the crab cakes. -disappointed muffaletta ball-knower

I ordered the Crab Cakes and the Crab and Corn Chowder. The Chowder was amazing. I'm not a big fan of crab cakes without lump jumbo white crab meat. But they were decent. The inside is small but it just feels right...will be back...

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice sunny cool day to enjoy breakfast on the porch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband ordered a grits bowl that contained eggs, grits, sausage and cheese. I enjoyed the strawberry white chocolate cream cheese French toast. Delicious entrees as always!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Catholic Church chimes at 11 am was an added bonus.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This must be what they call southern hospitality? The waitstaff was no-frills helpful and friendly. The ultimate downfall was that they messed up my order in more ways than one: they served white bread instead of sourdough, and run of the mill chicken salad instead of the one with curry. I possibly would have sent the order back if we hadn't come with a whole family, but a family member offered half of her curry chicken salad sandwich on sourdough (which is exactly what I ordered but didn't get) and I instantly realised what it should have been. The crab corn chowder was nice and thick and creamy but I have no point of reference. Unfortunately, the chicken used for the standard chicken salad seemed to me like canned chicken, and most certainly not the same chicken used for the curry chicken salad, which added to my disappointment. All in all, they get extra love from me for being a local, family owned business. I hope they continue to improve and stay open for many more years.

Awesome service and great food!! These guys work as a team and take care of everyone. We started with the crab and corn chowder, AMAZING!!! The burger was really good and it was a nice size beef patty which is unusual in my experience. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich and I normally would have tried but it was on rye and that's a hard pass for me. My best friend had a club sandwich which was huge, with potato salad of which was too peppered in my opinion. Her boyfriend had a French dip with chicken but it wasn't a classic French dip, it was different but he liked it enough. We got 2 chocolate Silk pie slices to share and I was the only one that didn't care for it, it was way to rich and sweet for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All and all it was delicious and although the tables were kind of too close together it was still a nice visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

As we looked in Daphne for a good breakfast spot we picked this one out due to the current reviews and a quick drive by the day before. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Certainly this is a local fav due to the outdoor seating and plentiful parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We hit the spot at 10 which seemed to be perfect for the customer traffic. Heads up, breakfast stops serving at 11 A. We opted for a table on the porch and had a great experience with the wait staff, friendly, attentive and good at what he does. I opted for the Cafe Plate (eggs, grits, bacon, fruit & I opted to upgrade the toast to a croissant) with coffee. My wife went for the quiche plate. The food arrived fairly quickly and was hot and ready to eat. Here are the highlights Cafe Plate - Eggs ordered over easy and were they, whites were a bit too runny but edible. Not sure about the round bacon pieces, they were OK but missed the standard style. The croissant had a familiar look to it (AKA Costco) and was average and slightly disappointing. Quiche - my wife (who is a great quiche cook from scratch) said her serving was clearly not made on site and tasted fair - left her longing. All in all we were underwhelmed with the food, hoping for a memorable experience but $30 later we were left wanting. We don't plan a repeat visit sadly ..

Enjoyed a delicious brunch for the first time last week at East Shore Cafe! I had the blueberry French toast with a side of bacon & it was very yummy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their outdoor seating area is adorable & very family friendly with games for the kiddos.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We sat inside in the AC & experienced great service throughout the entire experience. They even have an ice cream window, will definitely be back to eat again & to grab an ice cream cone on a hot summer day!

After morning walk, wanted something healthy and light. I immediately thought of East Shore cafe. They always have a daily quiche and fresh fruit and it is always superb! We were greeted with a hello immediately entering and our service was excellent. The place is a little old cottage that has been turned into a restaurant decorated like you were in England. I love this place for breakfast but be mindful that arrive early or be prepared to wait that later in the morning, as it is very popular. Enjoy

Woke up today with a serious seafood craving, and especially for crab. So, I motored over to East Shore Cafe. Bingo! I doubled up with an order of crab and corn bisque and a crab cake sandwich on a crusty, pillowy croissant. The bisque was superb. It may be better than Bay Breeze's. The crabcake was fabulous. Somewhere along the way I had a bad crabcake, so it is something I am hesitant to order. I was blown away. It was tasty, perfectly moist and textured with a beautifully-colored crust. No pics - I ate every bite (which is rare)! read more

What a cute place to go for a nice breakfast! There is seating outdoors under the trees or indoors where there is welcomed air conditioning. We sat indoors but look forward to enjoying the outdoor dining. Our service was personable and really fairly quick. My husband had the quiche for breakfast and said it was very good. I had a basic breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon with rye toast. This is definitely a place to return to. read more

My first visit to East Shore Café was on a Sunday after church. All I can remember is that one of us had the crab cake sandwich, and it was very good. I can't remember what the anyone else had. I can't remember what kind of soup we had, but I do remember we enjoyed it. We sat at a table facing a wall. The old house was cute from the outside, but the inside just didn't appeal to me. That sums up my entire first visit: Good food, service and prices, boring atmosphere, nothing memorable. Last weekend, we had friends in from out of town that wanted to meet us for breakfast. Reading that they had a great breakfast, we suggested East Shore Café. Other reviewers were right. This is likely the best breakfast in town! I had the eggs, bacon, raisin toast and grits. The hubs had a ham, swiss and mushroom omelet, toast and grits, and the boy had pancakes and bacon. Our friends had the same things we had, only their child had French toast instead of pancakes. All of the dishes came with a side of fruit. Nothing was super greasy and it was all cooked to perfection. Everything was delicious, especially the homemade strawberry preserves. It was obviously very memorable, because I've yet to stop thinking about it. To make it even better, each meal was less than $10, with drinks. If anyone is looking for me on a Saturday morning, this is a good place to start looking. It's our new favorite breakfast spot! read more

The server was rude! We didn't realize that they opened at 7 am for breakfast and when we asked how to be seated, he was rude. Also. I specifically asked what time breakfast was from so we'd know the next time, he acted offended that I would even bother. So no I don't want that waiter to serve me a meal. read more

Visiting Alabama and I've been enjoying breakfast In a new spot each day but always feeling so unhealthy. I was delightfully surprised to get a great southern breakfast without all the grease and artery clogging butter. The waitress even convinced me to try grits for the first time and I have to say that they were pretty good (cheese, S&P and bacon added). I ordered a crab omelet with cheese and onions and it was amazing! A great spot and highly recommended. read more

This restaurant has a charming atmosphere and friendly service. The prices at really great. The food though, is just okay. We had the breakfast sandwich and the stuffed French toast. The stuffing for the French toast didn't taste much like fruit- it was more like plain cream cheese. And the breakfast sandwich was okay but something I could probably make at home. I've heard the lunch is really good so maybe we will come back to try that! read more

On my way home from the beach I made a stop to meet up with a friend. This was the location that we both decided on. It was a cute little place! The service was great and the food was delicious. They served and orange with their sweet tea which I was skeptical of but turns out it was great. I ordered a veggie pita with fruit on the side. The fruit and vegetables were all fresh which I loved. If you find yourself in Daphne Alabama make sure you stop here! read more

Yesterday we stopped in at Eastern Shore Cafe for a quick lunch. What we experienced was several pecan shells in the Pecan Chicken Salad, poured us cold coffee, and a rotten (black inside) tomato wedge. Not sure what's going on there but it's not the same as it used to be. read more

This is a great place to go eat, whether you are popping in for a light lunch or want something a little more substantial. The Staff here really worked with us when we celebrated our Church wedding. Had the reception there. They did everything for us. The food was Awesome, as always, the staff was friendly and accommodating. They were very complimentary. I couldn't have asked for anything better or more. Absolutely Perfect. This Customer is completely satisfied and will be back many more times. You make us feel relaxed the atmosphere is like walking into your grandma's home and sitting down to eat and visit. Very nice!!! If they had 10 stars on the rating I'd give it to y'all. read more

This little place seems to our weekend morning place over the last few weeks. Husband AKA Poppy and I take our little 22 mos old grandson for breakfast. This time we did a late lunch with him in tow. Their quiche is always good therefore sold out when we got there at 1:30 Saturday. We had their soup special - vegetable beef. It wAs great in taste and portion actually. Needed a fresh cup of coffee to start and they made a fresh pot. Yum. All in all we've always had good food here. Inside or outside. read more

This is such an adorable and unique little cafe in the heart of Daphne. We have been a few times both for breakfast but I hear their lunch and dinners are also great. I had the croissant breakfast sandwich, it was delicious. Also had a thick slice of pepper jack which was nice. The pancakes and French toast are both fabulous. My husband ordered just a normal breakfast and it was good except the Cajun sausage was not that great. He assumed it would be conecuh but he should have asked! It's a small inside so get there early. They also have a few picnic tables out front if the weather is nice. read more

We were in town for the Buccaneer Bash soccer tourney and wanted a good local spot for breakfast. This place delivered big time. I ordered the biscuit and gravy and they were great. Had a old bay/Cajun season flavor and were so different and good. Also I highly recommend the cajun sausage link. It was my favorite thing on the menu. My wife got the quiche and loved it too. We will go back when going to the beach. read more

You must ignore reviews from people that have never eaten here or ones that have an agenda. I almost based my order on someone else's negative review. Thankfully, I now know that it was not a legitimate review. I am from New Orleans and I have eaten all over the world. The Crab cakes and the crab and corn bisque are the very best that I have ever had. I guarantee that they are made with 100% real crab. Seasoned perfectly. My wife and I both had the Crab cake sandwich. One on sourdough and one on croissant. I highly recommend their sourdough. Their homemade potato salad stands up to my grandmother's. Everything that we had here was perfect. We sat outside on their front porch and the service was above and beyond. Very friendly and attentive staff. Don't forget to grab a fresh baked cookie on your way out. Will be the best $1 that you spend all day. When we make it back to the Fairhope area, East Shore Cafe will be at the top of our re-visit list. read more

History

Established in 1998.

East Shore Cafe was founded in 1998 by Larry Mickelsen and John Sibley. We are located in Olde Towne Daphne on Main Street. We serve breakfast (7:00am-11:00am) and lunch (11:00am-3:00pm) everyday but Monday. Dinner service (5:00pm-9:00pm) on Friday and Saturday nights with a regular menu as well as a chalkboard menu. As always, BYOB. Reservations are accepted everyday but Sunday. Hope to see you soon!

I decided to sit at the bar. There wasn't a lot of deciding I needed to do with the menu. I knew I wanted fried chicken and this was a fried chicken restaurant. I got the 2 piece with baked beans and potato salad. From what I can tell the restaurant had a very friendly environment. The waitstaff brought me my food in a very timely fashion. I tasted my side dishes first and they were really good. I remember the baked beans being very hot temperature wise. The chicken was what I made the trip for and I wasn't disappointed. The chicken was so crunchy and the batter they made it with had a little kick to it. It wasn't spicy but it had a noticeable flavor. I enjoyed every bit of it. This was not a hard and solid decision on my part. Instead I had decided that if I had my druthers, I would not eat there. Of course when it is my babécita's birthday my druthers were of no consideration and I found myself again at Tamara's for a Saturday brunch. We arrived to find the main dinning area to be full, and since we didn't feel like eating in the open to the outside area, we learned that we had an estimated 20-30 minutes wait for a table. Their was six to eight customers waiting around the hostess's stand inside, with another six waiting outside under a covered area. We decided to wait outside, but after about 15 minutes a rain shower began. The kind people waiting on the benches and standing under the awning encouraged us to move in further from the edge where they we were getting wet. A couple standing moved into the restaurant to make even more room for us. The hostess, seeing that it was raining outside when this couple opened the door, came to the door and invited us all in, announcing that she would make room for us all. Which she promptly did. My wife had informed the hostess of my needs, and had requested a corner table for ease of access, but once inside the restaurant, I noticed that the table arrangement seemed less crowded, which helped to ease my concerns about getting to a table. As it happened, right at the 20 minute mark, we were informed that our table was ready, and we were led to a table, not on a corner, but to a table at the end of a row of tables, and against a partition. I found this arrangement even better than our requested corner table, as it meant that I had no foot traffic behind me that I might inadvertently bump into, or bump into me. I was grateful for the evidently experienced hostess working out such a fine alternative to our request, and doing it in such a timely manner. Now I get to the food, and wait staff service. All I can say is that Tamara's management has both pegged to the highest degree. Our waiter appeared immediately, took our orders since we had perused the menu while we were waiting to be seated. As for our food, my birthday girl had the Spinach Eggs Benedict, and I had the Fried Chicken and Waffles. Both were excellent. Neither of us had a single complaint, and my wife, who is fascinated with Tamara's long list of various types of Eggs Benedicts, promised that we will be back for many more visits to try each one. I am grateful that I was forced to forego my pledge not to patronize this establishment again, as it provided an opportunity to learn how the good people at Tamara's made adjustments that allowed my experience to be enjoyed more fully. I am also grateful in that we can continue to enjoy their excellent food.
