There was an enormously long line in the drive thru, and if that is not enough of an indication of the popularity of this restaurant, perhaps the fact that people were willing to wait upwards of 10 minutes to receive their orders should be. Definitely a must try is the Flavor Bursts. Pictured is the Mocha Cappuccino. The small itself was already very large, and at 3.75, although the price has increased, it is so worth! The flavor and texture of the soft serve is paired perfectly with the cone, and this is the case for ALL their flavors. We also ordered the small fries (not pictured), and they tasted DELICIOUS. Initially, we did not even add ketchup, as they were already perfectly fried and salted. Wanted to try the green apple flavor and sadly they no longer make it and is replaced with raspberry. Went with two flavors-black cherry and tropical orange. Both were good and very creamy. Save your money. Avoid East Wind Drive-In at all costs! The owner's disrespectful behavior towards customers has reached a new low. Despite being a longtime patron, the deteriorating service and the owner's increasingly negative attitude have become unbearable. My most recent visit was the final straw. Not only did the owner display a short temper with my guests, but his strong accent also made communication difficult. Despite politely asking for clarification, he became irate for no apparent reason. When questioned about his behavior, he rudely shut the drive-through window on us, telling us to leave "Go away". But, the service was extremely fast! I ordered a Chocolate soft serve-Waffle cone, and it was handed to me before my hubby even finished his order, and paid! I wasn't prepared for it to be so quick, but it was really delicious! And, it was the right size too! My hubby seemed really happy with his Milkshake, and it was less of a spill or melt-risk that way too, but I loved every bite! As an ice cream ho I love this place and have left glowing reviews in the past. However, we cut short some plans for the 35 minute drive to get there before they closed at the (on Yelp) claimed 8:00pm. We pulled up and as we walked to the window at 7:35pm an older gentleman slid the window down and exclaimed "we're closed, we closed at 6:00pm". If you closed at 6:00pm why were you open until we walked up to the window? We'll be back (of course) but not without this negative experience. For starters if you're coming for breakfast they no longer have their menu outside so if you don't remember the old menu good luck and they don't keep to posted hours. This place was like somewhere out of a movie. In the midst of our drive across the Columbus River, we checked in for some ice cream!!! I really liked the traditional vanilla and chocolate swirl. I read about this place in Cheryl Strayed's book titled "Wild." I had it bookmarked since I knew I would be back to beautiful Oregon. The ice cream is so good. They offer different sizes and so many flavors. Flavors include Vanilla, chocolate, chocolate and vanilla, orange, raspberry and various other flavors. Even on a cold day the ice cream is worth to try. I would say if you are anywhere near Multnomah Falls or in Troutdale, Oregon it is a must to stop at East Wind. I know they have other items on the menu but I strictly went for the ice cream. As for customer service there was not much interaction. They do have a small drive thru and seating is almost non existent. It works best to take your order togo. I will come back here again for the ice cream though. read more

The serving sizes were unfortunately too generous for our needs. We ordered smalls for all three of us, but their small was HUGE (I took a photo for reference). My three year old certainly didn't mind, but my spouse and I did. I ordered the mocha flavor and although it wasn't what I had in mind, it was pretty decent. I was expecting mocha ice cream, but instead received vanilla ice cream with a mocha trim. This was how their "blue" and strawberry flavors were, too. It was unique. However, I would have much preferred real ice cream over soft serve. That's just me, though. Other things to note: Their service was quite speedy considering how very long their line was. We were looking for a bite to eat before our hiking adventures, and East Wind was on the way to our Columbia Gorge destination. It was hard to predict what the breakfast would be like, since there were mostly just pictures of ice cream! Unfortunately, we did not get any soft serve, but we did get an amazing breakfast! Biscuits and gravy, we added two over easy eggs and a sausage patty on top. The sausage patty seemed expensive until I saw how enormous it was. That patty could have covered both biscuits. I prefer a bit more flaky biscuits, but the sausage gravy was excellent. The eggs were cooked perfectly over easy, and the sausage was juicy and not over cooked. Chicken fried steak with two over easy eggs on top. The chicken fried steak was delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The gravy was the same sausage gravy as the biscuits and gravy. The steak was tender enough to cut with the fork. We also got tater tots and curly fries. Both were super crispy and delicious. Everything was amazing and I would highly recommend! read more

Of all the places, this is one that's been on my list to check out for a really long time and it did not disappoint. The main attraction is of course their soft serve flavor blast! I'm not sure if it was the anticipation, or just the long morning for the drive here, but I really, really, really enjoyed my visit here. It's perfect if you're hiking in the area, but otherwise it's so far from anything major. I am already thinking about when I can make a next visit and may have to make up an excuse to go on a hike nearby just to come here... I had a burger and fries and they were made piping hot and so delicious. It was definitely better than your local McDonald's. Now, let's talk about the main reason I came here. Their soft serve. There's a bunch of flavors you can pick as your flavor blast. They all sounded good and they look so pretty. To top it all off, a small is no small thing. Once you start sizing up though, you end up with a monster of a soft serve. There were a few customers before us, but the wait was quick. There are some seats outside and a few bar seats inside. We were staying at Skamania Lodge and made a trip over the Bridge of the Gods to grab lunch at East Wind Drive-In. Get the Ice cream blast, ice cream blast, ice cream blast! We went here 3x just to get it. We tried tropical orange, blue goo (cotton candy) and strawberry. Tropical orange took me back to the time they had those ice cream cups with the wooden spoons that had the orange and vanilla ice cream, remember?!? Cotton candy speaks for itself and the strawberry taste exactly like those strawberry shortcake ice cream bars! The ice cream itself was not overly sweet and I think that in itself made the whole family keep on coming back. We had lunch here as well. Real good for the type of food you expect. The kids loved the fish and chips and hubs and I both ordered cheeseburgers. My daughter and I laugh and joke about how it's so worth driving the hour drive to get some more of that ice cream. If you are around the Cascade Locks swing by the East Wind Drive-In. You can't miss their location - they have an ice cream cone sign above their restaurant. Due to COVID-19, their drive thru is only open, no walk-ups and the line to get food can be backed up at times but don't fret, they have a pretty good system where they take your order, you park and their staff will come and find you with your food. read more

Apparently this is a childhood fave for many of my friends. How have I not gone here in all of my life of living in Oregon? They have a drive-thru which is convenient and then you order your ice cream. You can pick from ginormous or extra ginormous. I joke on the names, kinda. Actually it's literal.
