    pork (la rou) + radish
    April Y.

Walked in on a weekend around lunchtime and got seated promptly. Ambiance is pretty chic/modern, and staff are super friendly and attentive. Ordering is by QR code, and I found it interesting that we can adjust MSG / oily level on top of spice tier. The first few bites of every dish we ordered were spectacular - I was pretty blown away. Even though we had selected no MSG, by the time we were close to finishing the meal, I could feel the MSG sink in, and I was pretty parched the rest of the day. The eggplant century egg dish was my favorite - I took it to-go, and it was still good the next day reheated. The eggplant garlic dish intimidated me at first with how much garlic was present, but honestly really delicious after everything was mixed (maybe I'll ask for less garlic next time). The pork (la rou) + radish really paired well with rice, though I wish they had used bigger chunks/different dried radish. The squid might have been my least favorite - still good, but I didn't really enjoy the seasoning that tasted like Chinese skewer seasoning / MSG tasting. All in all will definitely return, it could be a good spot to bring family or friends to try more dishes together.

Staff is friendly, food comes out quick, and lots of seating. Food is slightly expensive but some of the most authentic and delicious food I've had in the area. FYI - the food does come with a lot of MSG and Oil, so ask for less if you are sensitive to either (deducting 1 point since we asked for no msg but was still added) FOOD: Smashed green pepper, chinese eggplant, and preserved egg (10/10) - A rare 10/10 - this dish was perfect on all sides. Must get and eat with rice! Smoked Pork with Dried Radish (7/10) - Solid dish (especially the dried radish) but slightly too oily. If you can eat a lot of rice, it goes perfectly though! Eggplant with minced pork, cilantro, garlic (8/10) - Super savory and delicious eggplant with a mountain of garlic. Make sure you don't have any activities planned with someone after :) Griddled Squid Tentacles with Leek (6/10) - Crispy squid with raw leeks that cook in a hot stone pot while you eat. Good concept, but this dish was overly salty with way too much MSG. Would skip

We aren't a "spicy" family, so I was very hesitant to try this the first time... but then we have been back many times since because they have a decent non-spicy menu too! :) One of their "famous" dishes is their coconut chicken soup - which I have to admit was quite tasty when I finally got around to ordering it (rarely do bc we don't have enough people to eat the giant pot of soup!)... as long as you like the flavor of coconut water, you will like it too! My favorite dish: garlic shrimp on bean thread noodle My son's favorite dish: steamed egg My daughter's favorite dish: beef fried rice We generally order the pork bone noodle soup - the soup is tasty and they have good noodles. The sticky rice with corn & pork is hit or miss - sometimes it gets overcooked and the corn and rice gets a little hard.

Truly authentic Hunan cuisine. Incredibly spicy, numbing, garlicky, greasy, runny nose-inducing, and tear-jerking like it should be! As Sichuan people, we have high spice tolerances but had to go with mid-spicy (the lowest level) on everything to not be in pain. The dishes are a bit expensive, but the portions are generous, so I definitely recommend to come in a group to family style it. I highly recommend getting these dishes with a side of rice: - 酸湯魚片 Poached fish fillets in sour soup (mid-spicy): Wowow I loved this; better than Wei's Fish just across the street ngl (I am also a fan of it though) because Easterly's really packs the punch that I was looking for in this dish! - 梅干菜炒四季豆 Stir-fried green beans with preserved vegetables: Fantastic. This dish is actually a *bit* (not really but u know) lighter than the green beans I usually come across, but I think it's perfect to pair with other such heavy flavors. - 干鍋孜然牛肉 Griddled cumin beef with leek: this might actually be a Xinjiang dish LOL but I love cumin. and leek. and garlic. YUM - 干鍋野生菌 Griddled wild mushroom with pork (mid-spicy): These are tea tree mushrooms, which are a bit crunchy and lean towards a dry umami taste (my fav). Paired with bell pepper, carmelized onion, and (trace amount of) pork (for flavor perhaps? LOL) I am deeply apologetic for not giving this gem a try earlier; the building faces the road but has tinted windows, so I never really notice it while passing by almost every week lol. But dw I will be back!!! B)

A great back up restaurant when your first choice had too long of a wait. Conveniently located in the heart of Cupertino and near some heavy hitters, Easterly's food is actually good! Even though the ambiance was lacking and there was no music, the service was quick and most importantly there was no wait. What really surprised me was their pork fried rice. It is legitimately delicious. Perfectly seasoned and properly cooked. Honestly one of the better fried rice dishes I've had. The portions were huge as well. Great value for the price. Honestly, if I lived nearby I would order this to-go once a week. The frog legs and braised pork belly brought the place back down to earth. Not great, but perfectly serviceable Hunan food. Spicy, but their flavors were so muted. A clear step below some of the places around them. Overall the food reminds me of a good home cooked meal (with plenty of leftovers!). Worth a visit if you need a quick bite!

Service: Incredibly prompt, the fastest food from ordering on a tablet and consistent staff. Quality: ordering in you always get better portion for your buck, you can order with the tablet! The food always has huge portions- our favorites are the green bean, sticky rice with pork ribs, stir fried beef & peppers and the steamed egg They seem to be busy with takeout orders but honestly the best bang for your buck is dining in- there is another spot in Santa Clara as well but this one seems larger in feel & a bit newer in ambiance.

Spice lovers rejoice! Do you crave that tongue-numbing sensation when food is so spicy that you can barely breathe? It's truly exhilarating and probably why this Hunan Chinese restaurant is so popular among locals since it's rare to find authentic Hunan cuisine that meets the high spiciness level that true spice loves crave and few restaurants are brave enough to serve. These are the dishes we ordered and I can't wait to go back to try more when I'm in the mood for something spicy! * Griddled Egg Tofu with Minced Pork - I love egg tofu and honestly initially found this restaurant because I was searching for a restaurant serving egg tofu which is hard to describe but is like medallions of eggy silken tofu lightly battered and fried with a comforting brown sauce. This dish is paired with minced pork and a generous amount of steamed broccoli and loads of chili peppers, full of yummy and umami. * Beef Noodle Soup - Another comfort food that my husband and I crave regularly and this hits the spot. Cubes of beef and tendon are perfectly stewed and served with bokchoy over handmade noodles in a rich spicy broth. This is not too spicy so if you like spice, you can ask them to add in some chili peppers to amp up the heat. * Pork and Chinese Cabbage Dumplings - I'm always thrilled to try a new dumpling! These and handmade with a traditional thick wrapper and finely minced pork and cabbage centers of goodness. These are not spicy at all and perfect for the kiddos since the cabbage is so finely chopped, they don't know that they're eating healthy veggies! Win win! * Steamed Egg with Minced Pork - This delightful silky egg pudding is delicious with a light sprinkling of minced pork, sesame oil, and yes, of course, chili pepper flakes. Beware of the chili that you would not expect on something off the kids' menu. I picked off the chili flakes for my kids, but there's still a little heat that my older kid liked. So even though there's no chili symbol next to a menu item, if you are sensitive to spice, you can ask them for no chili pepper flakes. I ordered takeout via Uber Eats and scored a free Smoked Pork Fried Rice with the in-app promo and it was a delicious and savory palette cleanser between mouthfuls of fire. The portions were so generous that we are still eating yummy leftovers for two days afterwards! The takeout service was very efficient, friendly, and prompt. The dining area is large and was a bit empty probably due to the heavy rainy weather but their takeout counter was hopp I wish I took pictures of the delicious food and grand presentation in takeout boxes, but I was a bit breathless from the spice! Next time, I'll bring my spice-loving friends to try more menu items!

Hunan cuisine is mostly spicy, so it was expected but we tried to pick non spicy items. Service is good and they are busy. The interior is nicely decorated and not as cheesy as other Chinese places. The dishes are mostly strong flavor and a bit too salty for us. Mongolian beef is slightly spicy which is a surprise because there's no pepper sign on the menu. We tried the meat with hand made noodle stir fry and it's too salty. The noodle tasted doughy but doesn't look like hand made as the width look quite small and even. The chef recommended steam sticky rice with spare ribs is nicer. Although I'm not sure why it's the sticky rice on top of the spare ribs and not the other way around as the spare ribs flavors were all dripping down to the bottom of the steamer and not on the rice.

We ordered the stir fry beef with pepper (very salty, we asked for mild spicy, pretty good flavors Stir fry pork with pepper (similar to the beef but less salty, we enjoyed this dish better than the beef, non spicy version also available Garlic eggplant (very very very garlicy, must have had 30 cloves of garlic in this dish, basically a garlic dish with a side of eggplant, we enjoyed it but we love garlic, also liked how they de-skinned the eggplant such a nice touch We ordered off door dash delivery and the oils came out of the container but we didn't mind that much

Had a great experience prior to this with a friend so I wanted to bring my mom to try. My experience from the service however was a little uncomfortable. When I went with my mom there was no customers. The server seated us at the bench closest to the wall (the table was pushed into the bench against the wall so we had to move it.) Apparently a lot of the legs on some of the tables and benches are wobbly so they put things under to balance it. The servers told us to move it back under the table since we pushed the table out to sit into the bench. My mom is older and she has a hard time walking, she asked to switch to another table where the benches and tables were already spaced out properly because it is hard for her to bend down and move the things under the table legs. The server gave my mom an attitude and asked why two people couldn't fit into our current table.

The menu has quite a variety of options, including cold dishes, stir-fries, dry pot dishes, soups, rice/noodles, and desserts. Since I'm not great with spicy food, we went with dishes that were relatively mild this time: Stir-fry beef with Pancake Dry Pot Celtuce with Chinese Cured Pork Iron Pot Fish with Pickled Vegetables Cured Pork Fried Rice Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice Cakes The beef was really tender. We initially ate it with the pancakes, and later, when we still had quite a bit of beef left, we mixed it into the fried rice. Surprisingly, the combination worked really well! I also really enjoyed the dry pot celtuce with cured pork. The celtuce was crisp and refreshing, and its fresh crunch paired perfectly with the savory, salty cured pork. And of course, brown sugar glutinous rice cakes are a must-order for me whenever I have Sichuan cuisine. The chewy, sticky texture with that sweet brown sugar coating is always so satisfying - especially after a spicy meal!
