First time eating at Asia Village and while we were skeptical at first, this place proved to be good! It's a small restaurant located at the corner, next to UFC Gym, with a decent amount of parking. The dinning room is small, with 1 or 2 big tables and a few small ones. We ordered two things, Bitter Melon with Beef Pan Fried Vermicelli Noodles and Braised Pork Belly with Persevered Vegetables Claypot. Both were freshly made and tasted very delicious and would definitely order again. While we waited for our food, customers kept coming in for dine in and even ordering take out! Asia Village serves the best Chinese food in the Sunnyvale area. Every dish we've tried was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend the house special pan fried noodles, steak cubes, and deep fried fish fillet. Knocking off a star because their garlic pea sprouts were really tough and their ambiance could be cleaner/brighter. Nevertheless, we are still going to be frequent diners here. read more

We have been getting food to go here for years. It's Cantonese style. Hot and sour soup is super good here. Coffee pork ribs were a little sweet for us. We like the salt and pepper pork better. The crispy fresh Chinese yam tasted like the Japanese yam. The French style filet mignon was tender. The seafood with tofu clay pot wasn't bad. The Honey glazed walnut prawns is good here. To go boxes are generous. There isn't much ambiance but you get broth/soup for an appetizer if you eat in. They also give one or two free super strong tea or lemonades depending on your order. The restaurant itself isn't large, but it is efficiently laid out - they can comfortably host three round table seating 8-10 people, along with several smaller tables for party of four. This is definitely a place that shines when you come with 6-10 people. The portions are generous and priced reasonably, which makes it fun (and practical) to order a variety of dishes to share. During our visit, we ordered: Scallop egg white fried rice Coffee pork ribs String beans with XO sauce Beef Chow Fun (wide rice noodles) Salt n Pepper fish filet Seafood tofu clay pot Lamb chops in Squash pot Standouts were the scallop egg white fried rice-light, fragrant, and not greasy-and the coffee pork ribs which had a nice balance of savory and sweet. The lamb chop squash pot was also a pleasant surprise and great for sharing. We usually have to pack leftovers for another meal. A nice bonus: depending on how much you order, they will offer complimentary lemonade or honey lemon tea, hot or cold, which is a thoughtful touch. Have been coming here for about twenty years. Food has always been consistently good, prices are usually lower than other restaurants. The restaurant is in an old rundown strip mall with plenty of parking. The interior is very basic and dated, one doesn't come for the atmosphere, it's the food that counts. There were eight of us so we could sample many dishes. We ordered Black Pepper Diced Beef Steak, Salt and Pepper Pork Chop, Fish Fillet with Spring Vegetables, Seafood and Tofu Clay Pot, Golden Pumpkin and Prawns with Yolk, and three specials from the blackboard outside the restaurant: Sautéed Yam Leaves, Lobster Noodle, and Chicken with Scallion and Ginger Soy Sauce. Everything was delicious. The lobster was quite meaty, unlike other restaurants with Lobster Noodle specials that serve really tiny lobsters. The Black Pepper Steak was really tender and tasty. The Salt and Pepper Pork Chop was really good as usual. The special Chicken was also really tasty. Service was good, food came out at a good pace. We were given three complimentary drinks. Met my friend of 45 years at Asia Village. My first time there for a dinner. I thought I was transported back in time to a Cantonese Restaurant about 40th years ago in Mt. Views on Castro Street. The Cantonese food was as delicious as those times. Not much for the decor but makes up in their dishes. Just simple homecooked dishes, like in the old days. Have not been here for a long while, finally we made it on Sunday night for dinner. Note that we tried coming on Saturday for late lunch at 3pm but they close for break. Upon arrival, we were treated with free lemon tea/lemon honey/milk tea on the house. The TV was playing the latest HK TV drama. Service was polite and cordial. We tried the house special gai lan with fish cake, the house famous shredded chicken, and the house fried rice noodle. The staple dish is the shredded chicken and it did not disappoint. The dish came with a strong fragrant aroma of sesame oil. It's soft shredded chicken on a bed of lettuce. Good flavor and texture! The gai lan with fish cake is a new dish to my friends and they loved it. The fish cake portion is generous. The house fried rice noodle is also good as it was stir fried dry with shrimp and pieces of squids. The restaurant is at the corner of the strip mall with little decorations inside, but it's the food we came for. They also gave complementary dessert soup at the end of the meal. This is one of my mom's and brother's favorite restaurants because the food is pretty good and reasonably priced. I wish they would update their interiors. Chairs are dirty last time I was there. I rather do take outs. I appreciate that they put a foil on the plastic container (much healthier and less plastic ingested). They give you free lemonades and lemon tea if you order a certain amount. If it came with a ginger sauce it might have taken this dish to the next level. Smaller size chicken, not meaty. Sauteed Pea Sprout - Good flavors and quality. Fresh. An improved experience this evening. Was out with my son who lives a half mile away now from this establishment. the two of us ordered the six spring rolls, appetizer, hot and sour soup, beef, chow mein, and sweet-and-sour chicken. It was a huge amount of food for two people, and probably took home about two meals worth in leftovers. Service was friendly. Atmosphere is simple and clean. I thought the dishes were very tasty and I could not really imagine a criticism except for maybe the spring rolls which were just good and maybe a smidge mushy on the inside. It depends on the day. The staff will make eye contact at the entrance to seat you immediately. FOOD * Sauteed Snow Pea Leaves: My SO and I love this dish. It's simple, delicious, and good for you. I wouldn't say I liked all the cloves of garlic thrown in. It would have been better if they were mashed or minced to extract the full garlicky flavor of the dish. Other than that, the snow pea leaves were sauteed to perfection. * Honey-glazed walnut Prawns: Delicious! This is a favorite dish of mine, and it did not disappoint. * Sesame Chicken: The chicken was breaded lightly and had an excellent meat-to-breading ratio. It was made fresh, so the chicken was crispy and tender inside. The sesame sauce is light and not overwhelmingly sweet. This is one of the most underrated and authentic Cantonese restaurants in Sunnyvale, Asia Village has the amazingly tastiest food and I absolutely love it! I definitely take it for granted having it in my neighborhood eternally. Chef was even able to pull off western/northern Chinese cuisines such as Sichuan fish fillet in chilly sauce, kung pao chicken and peking spare ribs. Haven't been back for a while, this time I was met with friendly service and excellent food again. The two women working there were very nice. Their French filet mignon was to die for. It was bountifully loaded with TENDER, juicy and flavorful steak cubes in black pepper sauce and fresh cut bell peppers. This is the best version I've had, probably better than the version at steakhouse. Too bad I try not to eat red meat but this dish was very hard to resist! Singapore rice noodle was delectable, earning a solid five star performance. The combination of each and every ingredient has the intertwined power to deliver a very subtle and robust taste. The sweet and sour pork was the best I've had I don't usually order this dish as I deem it too Americanized, but it was soooo good! What a great find! It's right next to the ufc gym. We came here to get some takeout after our workout. Right when it opened at 11:00, the place already had 2 tables and a ton of takeout ready to go. I ordered: Signature hand shredded chicken -- it had a bit of lettuce so it's served cold like a salad. The chicken is very well seasoned , delicious like Chinese poached chicken. Singapore vermicelli-- it came with petite shrimp that is tender and crisp. Great flavor and very authentic overall. Dry sautéed string beans - very tender and perfectly cooked. One of the best spots for Cantonese food in the South Bay. As someone who grew up in Southern California, I was definitely spoiled with great Cantonese food. Since moving to the Bay, I've been on the hunt for a comparable spot, and I'm so glad to say that Asia Village is it! I stopped by on a Friday night around 6:45 PM and the restaurant was quite full, just a few empty tables. It's a smaller place, but it definitely feels cozy. By the time I left, there were some parties waiting. All the Cantonese being spoken really made me feel at home too. Service is typical for what you'd expect at a Chinese restaurant. For my party of two, we ordered the Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, Sichuan Dry Fried String Beans, and Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice. They also let us know that if you order three dishes, you get a free drink, so we went for a hot lemon honey tea, which wasn't too sweet! Other reviewers were definitely right when they said Asia Village's food isn't as oily - it's still super flavorful without being drenched in oil. Salt and Pepper Pork Chops were fried to perfection and the crispy garlic on top was a nice touch. The Sichuan Dry Fried String Beans were seasoned well and the beans were cooked well. Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice was generous with the salted fish, which is usually not the case at other spots! At the end, they also gave us two bowls of red bean soup for dessert. Price wise, it was around $53 before tip, which is pretty comparable to other Cantonese spots around here. Pretty solid spot and very close to home. We were celebrating my sister-in-law's birthday and she loves Chinese, so we ordered a few dishes to go. These include the Kung pow chicken, sweet-and-sour chicken, their fried tofu with spicy salt, and the chow fun with chicken. The fried tofu was actually a bit bland which I wasn't expecting, and while we all enjoyed the chow fun, it was a bit flat as well. our order was ready in 15 minutes, and they gave us two free drinks which was really sweet of them. We do plan on coming back, and actually want to try eating at the restaurant to see if there's any shifting quality of food. However, overall it was pretty great. Dad does not know how to order. I recommend whomever comes here ( to dine) to check out the pictures on the wall (both in front of restaurant & on one of the walls inside). I wish Chinese restaurants tell you " What is Good" in their restaurant but most Chinese places, the wait staff never knows what is good or dont tell you. Dad ordered Salt Fish w/Chicken & Tofu, Scramble Egg Shrimp, & some type of Chicken Noodle Soup. The Chicken Noodle Soup did not have enough flavour. It did have a nice light Chicken flavour ( Dad end up dumping soy sauce which is a big no no for me). The good thing about the soup is it did have a nice light Chicken flavour, lots of bok choy, nice chinese thin egg noodle which taste really good in stir fry, just missing something but still good noodle. The good thing is they had White pepper on the table but it was almost empty ( I recommend you bring your own white pepper just in case the dish lack flavour & they forget to refill the condiment). I wish they sat us more near inside but it was Dad's fault for sitting near window. Immediate after Dad choose window area, another small table came and sat next to our table. The whole restaurant was empty so why they sit right next to us. Maybe it is the language but they were pretty loud. If I was sitting by myself (instead of with Dad/Mom) I would have got up and brought my stuff to an inside table as that party was just "Loud". Overall, the dishes seem to lack flavour. I think it is just because Dad does not know how to order. i really wish Chinese waiters make recommendations but they never do. All the dishes Dad ordered were light or lack flavour. I ended up dumping White pepper on everything. Even if they put a little more onion in some of the dishes ( i was thinking to myself I should have cooked at home). I think Dad need to order one fried dish. The fried dishes on the pictures or on other people's review look really good. But instead Dad ordered Chicken Tofu with Salt fish. I ask my Dad why he ordered two light chicken dishes ( the soup Noodle plus the tofu dish) and Dad replied that he did not order 2 Chicken dishes. Need onion ( so instead i put white pepper and it was good). Its just everything taste the same. He ordered Scramble Egg Shrimp. Normaly I love scramble egg but he should ask if they have tomato Scramble egg ( my favorite dish) but instead he order it with shrimp. Again, I felt this dish need flavour even if they put a little onion...i wish Dad order someting like mongolian beef. Anyhow, they were generous with the Egg. The chef did a great job, it is just that it needed Tomato or Onion. Overall the portions seem generous. Except the Salted fish Tofu & Chicken was missing the salted Fish? but maybe it was good idea because i dont really like too much salt fish. but it just need someting like onion or garlic. The Loud party next to us seem to quiet down but still loud. More people came in restaurant so our waiter forgot about us. The only thing our waiter did that was " Nice" was he brought out some hot lemon water with sugar ( we had hot tea). I thought that was sweet. Its just when it got busy, our waiter never check up on us which is typical of Chinese places ( I can say this because Im Chinese). When I ask for To go container....he had given To go Container to another table but forgot to give us. There was a fly or bug flying around and I did not want it to land on our food. So I recommend if you dine in here to Bring Your Own To Go container in case the waiter forgets. And reading another review later it seems they dont give To Go containers easily and rather save them for TakeOut orders ( got up searching for the To Go containers but they hide them). Anyhow, it could have been a good restaurant but I dont think Dad knows how to order or we could have used suggestions from the wait staff ( if they are available) I rather go to First Wok West Sunnyvale because even though First Wok is not always fresh, they can sometimes cook fresh and lots of flavour. Was craving beef chow fun and hubby remembered this hole in the wall place in Sunnyvale so we ran over. Been so long since we've been here I had forgotten all about it - they have solid Cantonese food! Ordered our beef chow fun which we LOVE here - beef is so tender - chow fun cooked perfectly - not oily or salty. Just perfect - they also add red onions which is slightly unusual but I love the extra crunch beside the bean sprouts! I also so a picture on the outside of their salted egg fried pumpkin and shrimp - I'm very visual so that sold me... we had to try that and I'm glad we did - crispy - tender pumpkin with good amount of shrimp - not the tiny ones - perfect sized and perfectly cooked. And of course we had to try their spicy eggplant in garlic sauce in their sizzling hot pot. I love eggplant and will always order it if I see it on the menu. It was definitely HOT! that hot pot keeps it super hot. The only problem is because it's so hot and it took us a while to eat it - by the time it would cool down and we'd eat it - some of the eggplant in the middle of the pot were over cooked and falling apart... We brought our leftovers home and I plan to enjoy over rice... This is a very simple clean place - very small but so worth it. Years ago before pandemic when we went they would also serve us soup of the day - unfortunately they didn't do that this time - could be they don't do it for lunch and only dinner? My initial experiences with Asia Village was satisfactory. I dined in which I enjoyed. The food wasn't great, but was good. Problems started to crop up when I'd order takeout. I ordered Tomato Beef Chow Mein and requested that some curry be added to it. The first time I ordered it they did as I requested and it was good. The second time I ordered it the lady taking the order refused the curry request. She was so adamant about it that she preferred that I cancel the order rather than give in to my request. I boycotted the restaurant for over a year. The other day I thought I'd give them another chance and ordered Tomato Beef Chow Mein but left out the curry since it seemed to be such an issue. I ordered it for 11:30 which was the earliest pickup time available. I arrived at 11:30 and it was not ready. The lady that refused the curry was servicing me. She wasn't even aware that they had a takeout order, but it was there when she checked their system. She said it would be ready in ten minutes. By then it was 11:40 and wouldn't be ready until 11:50. I needed it to be ready for pickup at 11:30 so really couldn't wait. So again I had to cancel the order. It's unfortunate as I live in the neighborhood.
