Note: they had not installed this particular unit, but were willing to do the repair. They also were able to send a Tech over the same afternoon all the way to the Heppner area (Reynaldo R--a senior maintenance technician). After performing a leak check he identified the problem in the outside unit--was a leaking refrigerant from a copper tube connection inside the main housing. Reynaldo was extremely professional in his repair and also had provided me a verbal estimate of potential costs. It was not cheap as it took him nearly 4 hours to complete the difficult task of trying to weld the small leak on a copper tube line--problem solved in 1 day. In the end, I have been and will continue to be a very satisfied customer with this Company. Thanks Bruce for the very quick response and professional service--Reynaldo is an outstanding employee!

It was poorly designed (too small) during instal a tech fell through the ceiling... The return air in the master is not cut in... in a year I haven't needed to change the filter... sooo... it's still brand new. The unit is trash for heating in the 15-20f range.. i got an awesome $900 power bill because they didn't cut in the secondary return... as the main return plugged and tripped on high pressure.. heat strips are great. Except the one that melted.. I've called about the entire system for a year... no response besides the obligatory 1 year maint... I contacted Doua the designer installer sales guy... for a quote for just changing out the new unit to a gas unit. He quotes me 10k for just a unit... then never responds to emails.. nor does anyone else. Maybe I'm being impatient but when somone tells you that they will call back tomorrow and still hasn't for almost two weeks..(chris the office manager or sales manager)

I was a loyal Chinook customer for about 10 years and enrolled in their Comfort 365 maintenance…read moreprogram with twice-yearly paid service visits. Unfortunately, my experience over the past couple of years has been VERY DISAPPOINTING. In December 2023, Chinook replaced a blower housing under warranty on my Goodman gas furnace. Recently, their own service manager confirmed that the WRONG size blower housing had been installed. It never fit properly, which led to vibration, noise, repeated wiring disconnections, and even periods during the winter of 2025 when our home had no heat. There was also a serious safety concern involving sparks and smoke when the blower assembly became dislodged. What is most concerning is that this issue went undetected for about two years despite multiple service visits under their Comfort 365 maintenance program, along with additional service calls involving different technicians. That represents a clear failure in workmanship and diagnostic thoroughness. I was told the supplier may have sent the wrong part, but as the installing contractor, Chinook is responsible for verifying proper fit before installation. Regardless of the source, the wrong component was installed and left in service for years. After paying around $900 for a blower motor replacement in January 2026, I reported that the furnace had become noisy again. Instead of reassessing their recent work, the technician told me the furnace was a "lemon" and quickly referred me to replace the entire system--including the outdoor heat pump, which had no issues--primarily due to its age (11 years). That raised serious concerns about accountability and the approach to resolving issues. The proposed solution for the blower housing problem was only a temporary "band-aid" fix, with no guarantee it would hold and no meaningful workmanship warranty offered, while I was told it could take months to obtain the correct part. Despite years of paying for maintenance services intended to catch and prevent problems like this, a fundamental installation issue went unrecognized until much later. This experience reinforced for me the importance of PROPER INSTALLATION, THOROUGH DIAGNOSIS, and ACCOUNTABILITY. I would not recommend their services.

Chinook will charge you a flat rate diagnostic fee if you call them to look at your AC , heater,…read moreetc. and charge super inflated flat rate for repairs. Avoid them if you can. I had them come out to look at a heat pump unit and they found a blown fuse on the low voltage side of the heat pump. In their brilliant diagnosis, they determined it needed a new fuse, and quoted around 400 dollars on top of already paying the diagnostic fee. They made no attempt to find the actual cause of the fuse blowing. If I had not cancelled the "repair" which was them swapping a 10 dollar fuse and charging $400, it just would have blown again, and they more then likely would then charge more diagnostics and more repairs. I called an actual skilled technician from Apollo, and they pinpointed the low voltage fault within an hour and had the part replaced and heat working again. Chinook will seemingly up-charge, fix the symptom and not the fault, and make no skilled attempt for actual fault diagnosis.
