Okay, so I'm biased cause my son's band, Institutionalized, just recently played here, but I got to spend a lot of time hanging and talking with the booker, the owner, and his wife, and they are all super cool people. Me and the owner, who also does the sound, had almost the exact same interests and favorite bands. It was like meeting a new best friend. In addition, you can usually find street parking, and all the meters are broken so you don't even have to pay. LOL! There is a lot there that is cheap, too if you need to pay. There is a downstairs with a bar and upstairs is the other bar with the stage. The owner is a drummer in a band, just like my son, and thanks to that they have an amazing house kit and the guy does excellent sound. It's a small, comfy space. Drinks were outstanding. The owner and bartender make some amazing cocktails. The crowd was great for a Metal Monday night. Can't wait to have my boy play here again! Definitely a place worth checking out in Downtown LA! And follow the booker on IG - Blasphemy Made LA, as they do a bunch of shows here. It's a good chance if you like metal or punk or hardcore that you will catch a great up and coming band. read more

I stopped by late in the evening, just to get a drink and wind down as I heard great things about this place. Immediately walking in your map by dim lights and a DJ playing in the corner. The music was pretty good given it was a Friday night. The entire bar section was full and people are out dancing, so it was really nice to be in the ambience. I went to the two other bars that they have and they were all equally as fun and the bartenders were really cool to talk to. They had some live music going on on the third floor. Another speakeasy in the downtown area. This bar is located in the back of Bar Clacson. Follow the neon sign in the back and there's a door on the right. This bar is very different from other bars in the area. It's small and dark, major dive bar vibes. It's pretty laid back inside. There's a couple of pinball machines and a billiard table if you want to play. The drink menu is small and simple. It's pretty cheap as well. $10 for drinks is not bad for downtown Los Angeles! read more

Awesome little bar at the back of Bar Clacson. Bit of a speakeasy, bit of a retro dive. Whereas Bar Clacson is big and bright in comparison, Slipper Clutch is a bit tight and dark, in a good way though. They have a few pinball and arcades games in the back. Decor and feel are going for a punk rock vibe. They were playing some pretty good punk and rock tunes to keep it up too. High Balls are all $10 and they are tasty. Crowd is a decent mix that leans towards hipster. Service was great. Bartenders were really cool and friendly. It opens at 8. I say fuel up at Grand Central Market and start your next downtown bar crawl at Bar Clacson and Slipper Clutch. read more

Stopped in for the first time on a slow Friday night. It's a small speakeasy behind another bar. They have a few pinball machines and some pool tables. Straightforward drinks, don't come expecting anything fancy. No craft cocktails so it's not going to be for everyone. They played post punk and new wave while I was there and played it at a good volume that made talking to others easy. Talked with a few of the patrons, everyone seemed chill and easy going.
