But hey, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", right? We stopped by on a weekend late morning craving breakfast items. We had two orders of the Farm Egg Breakfast Plate (two eggs any style with hash browns), one side of bacon, one side of pork sausage links, and an iced Vietnamese coffee. Hash browns were nice and crispy, eggs standard, pork sausages very juicy, and bacon nice and crispy. Food was simple, greasy, and fills you up. I came here for brunch, and the workers here are the nicest! For my appetizer, I had the portobello mushroom fries. These were so crispy, and the dipping sauce that came with it was amazing! For my main, I had the short rib hash. To my surprise, there were 4 or 5 big chunks of short rib. I thought it would be shredded and incorporated with the potatoes that way. Nevertheless, it had great flavor and was very tasty. I almost missed this place because there was a huge wooden board that covered the windows. It also made the interior a little dark. read more

Always a delicious time at Eat Americana! This is one of my favorite places, with a great mix of unique gourmet dishes and high quality standard staples my partner prefers. Today, it was their amazing warm goat cheese salad with beets and pistachios, accompanied with fried chicken katsu, and the warm bread pudding desert with fruit, whipped cream & fresh fruit. You gotta try it at least once! The outdoor space is simple but lovely, it's got a roof in case of rain and plenty of fresh air, and everybody is super nice, friendly and warm. Highly recommended. My husband had been craving to eat burger at Eat Americana. So today we went for lunch at this restaurant. We got our table where my husband & I were sitting side by side facing the street. The dining room is small but we saw people really enjoying their meal and company. A woman brought us two glasses of water right away. After we reviewed the menu, I called the attention of the woman that we were ready to order. The room arrangement has the open kitchen and blocking our table. The server came and it was the owner, Tony. I told him that I recognized him from the Yelp posted pictures. I told my husband as well. We ordered the Portobello Mushroom Fries for starter. It came first and we ate it for the first time. Tony told us the breaded mushroom with cilantro sauce. And it was delicious when dipped in the sauce. My husband ordered the Impossible Burger Time and I ordered the Veggie Rueben (Portobello mushroom). My husband added the French Fries. He said his burger is juicy and flavorful. My portobello burger was appetizing. So far the meal was savory. Tony visited our table checking on how were we doing. We support local businesses establishments in the neighborhood so we shall return. I recommend this restaurant. read more

This place is a hoot. I didn't know what to think when going to get dinner here with a friend and upon walking up to this quaint eatery with the name Eat Americana. The name is sort of funky, too, when you think about it. You go inside and find that the eating areas are mostly in the front and at the rear of where the serving counter narrows the restaurant. The owners and employees are very welcoming. Eat Americana's menu is also kind of quirky. There is an all-day breakfast (this is normal at many places) and then, diagonally across the menu, are the more dinner-like items. I was really hungry and tried to stick to the tradition of dinner food at dinnertime. However, I asked the apparent proprietor which would be more filling - dinner items such as the Philly cheesesteak or the breakfast burrito. (The short rib lasagna also sounded interesting.) He steered me toward the breakfast burrito. Upon being delivered to the table, the breakfast burrito was a feast for the eyes. It was a filling and loaded burrito. It was also delicious. I ordered coffee with my meal, which they refilled as needed. My friend quietly chowed down on the platter with the omelette and (breakfast) potatoes and also stated that the food was very good. Upon looking at the map, Eat Americana is in the Outer Richmond and practically at the Pacific Ocean! It sits just slightly south of Geary, and is about halfway between Lincoln Park and Golden Gate Park. The neighborhood is a nice one, but easy parking isn't a shoe-in. It might take some work to find that free spot. Also, here's a handy way to remember how the Richmond and the Sunset areas relate to Golden Gate Park's large footprint: R (as in Richmond) precedes S (as in Sunset) and, using "similar" logic, the Richmond is above Golden Gate Park while the Sunset is below it. Eat Americana is a solid diner in a much quieter part of San Francisco. I'm glad I got the chance to eat here and would be very willing to eat here again. read more

Came here after walking Land's End since our brunch standby, the Cliff House, permanently closed down. Immediately after we sat in their clean parklet, we were given impeccable service. The waiter answered all of our questions about dietary restrictions, and when I asked to omit sausage in my breakfast burrito, it was recommended that I sub avocado (usually I have to beg for that sort of thing!). The breakfast burrito, like all good burritos, was at least as big as my forearm, and it was DELICIOUS. Perfectly crisped tortilla and really fresh ingredients. The rest of my friends enjoyed their food as well, and I'm really happy to have supported this longtime neighborhood business! read more

Super affordable and hearty dishes, though the menu needs some updating (we noticed Anchor Steam listed under the beer section). We only snagged the brussel sprouts, which were crispy and tender but not too soggy, and the buffalo wings, which also had a perfect crisp to them with the right amount of sauce. Both perfectly cooked! I wouldn't come back just for those dishes alone, but would want to try the other menu items. Our server was overly gracious and funny, but was a bit slow to come to us and we weren't sure how to pay at the end of our meal. It was late on a weeknight so they were also wrapping up, so I'm totally understandable of the divided attention. While the bathroom was clean and fully stocked, it was difficult to navigate to around some of the crates of food; the use of space past the dining room felt a bit crammed for guests to have access to. read more

I suppose I give more 5 star reviews than some people; I think it's because I do my homework first. I know basically what I want, take advice from Yelp reviews, and study menus online before ordering. That was how I discovered Eat Americana. At 11am I wasn't sure whether I wanted breakfast or lunch. Eat Americana offered both. It already has hundreds of 5 star reviews. And it was barely within walking distance of where I was staying. I ordered a veggie reuben sandwich with fries. The reuben was perfect: chewy portobello mushrooms, tart sauerkraut, and melted cheese with a russian-style spread. The fries were crisp, golden, plentiful, and lightly seasoned. My server, Tony, was attentive but unobtrusive. As I ate, a steady stream of regulars came in to pick up lunch to go, and were often greeted by name. I will be back! read more

Small neighborhood diner with unbelievably friendly and hospitable staff! There's indoor seating, as well as outdoor seating in the parklet out front. We came in around 12PM and were seated immediately. I was having a hard time deciding on what to order, so my server helped me decide with the poor man's steak frites! I'm glad he recommended it since it tasted amazing! It was a burger patty on fries with a gravy that tasted like cream of mushroom. The menu is on the smaller side, so you're limited with what you can order. For reasons that I won't really explain in an intelligible way, Eat Americana reminds me of the Charlie Daniels Band's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." If you know the lyrics to that song, you *might* be able to figure out what I'm getting at, but you probably won't, and don't worry, it's not your fault; it's mine. I'm a horrible writer. Oh, and the name has nothing to do with Georgia or Southern Acts like the Charlie Daniels Band. So this was the place. I love this neighborhood. Who knew it had places like Eat Americana? I'm always so enamored of Simple Pleasures that I never spend enough time at other places around here. Maybe if I move to the Outer Richmond one day--ha!--I'll become such a regular that Simple Pleasures will become merely my Tuesday destination. The menu is pretty varied, and I like that. In fact, there are times I just want to eat a stick-to-your-ribs meal in San Francisco, but I'm worried that it will be too expensive or that it will be so far out that there will be nowhere to park or that--I don't know what else I'm worried about. I worry about everything, which does refer directly to the first line of the song. Pay attention! Everything ended up fine. My omelet was delicious, although I had no idea I would be having breakfast for dinner, and that's unusual for me--not *knowing* I'm going to have breakfast for dinner; I often do have breakfast for dinner, and I usually crave it beforehand, which is how I end up at places where I know it's possible, places which are way too few and far between in San Francisco. The service is top notch. The owner (?) took our order, answered important questions, made pertinent suggestions based on our questions, and prepared (for me at least) food that didn't mess with digestion. We stayed kind of late, but they didn't hurry us out even though they were within their rights to. I don't know whether Eat Americana is a destination worth driving all the way from the Mission for, but it's definitely a destination for an Outer Richmond staycation. In fact, I'd venture that it's a destination for the entire Avenues. (Don't let Golden Gate Park and the hill dissuade you.) read more

We were biking around Golden Gate Park and were craving a restaurant that had a variety of options, tasty food and outdoor eating so we could be near our bikes. Upon entering (after browsing the menu online) I was greeted by the owner in an extremely friendly manner who was happy to take our order fairly close to closing time (about 40 minutes). I almost went with a breakfast option as I was excited to see that they had a "breakfast all day" option, but I'm glad that I got my tomato soup and grilled cheese on a colder SF evening.
