The ambiance is nice and we got seated for a party of 3 within 15 mins around 12:30pm and we didn't realize they had an entire separate dinning area on the other side. Our server was nice and got our drink order in right away. It did take a bit to get our first round in which is understandable since it was busy. However, the area we were sat in was very hot. We were sweating in our seats and although it did get cooler later during our meal, it was still consistently warm. The sushi came out decently quick and within 10 mins, we got our 1st few order. For the price we paid, it was decent. The shrimp tempura and gyoza was fresh, hot and, so crispy. We loved the spicy tuna with crispy rice. The spider roll was the perfect size. However, our server didn't really check on us and asked if we wanted a 2nd round. We had to flag her down and while it was understandable that it was busy and they are understaffed, I would have liked more attentiveness since our drinks were low. This AYCE sushi place is very fresh and delicious! Their weekend dinner deal can mix the $39.99 and $48.99 sets, and as long as you order one Premium set, you can share it together! Came here after seeing their Instagram video and had high expectations, but unfortunately left feeling disappointed. The premium AYCE is $48.99, with kids paying the same full price. (non premium kids over 51 inches pay regular price of 29.99 or $39.99 after 3pm). Service Issues: * Extremely slow food delivery * Had to follow up on orders multiple times * Asked for water refills twice before getting attention (Ana simply said "oh" when reminded about the water * Only provided 3 lowly napkins for a party of 3 * Food came out completely out of order - miso soup arrived last ( I had to ask for it 3 times, I only received the one I wanted but receipt reflects 3 orders)! Servers: Evan, Ana with the red ponytail, and Chaw (who was actually very sweet and willing to pick up the slack for Ana) Overall Experience: Did not feel like a valued customer at all. TLDR: Excellent quality sushi for the price point. Note that Premium only has ONE ROUND and you cannot come back to it once you submit your order. Note: Do not order everything off Premium; you will likely not finish and have a few rice heavy dishes left. - - - - - - Eat's AYCE Sushi features two menus, their generic menu at $39.99 (3 rounds) or a premium menu at $49.99 (1 round). Having only one round for Premium makes it difficult to "budget" how much you could actually order... so in hesitation, our group of four maxed it out on the first go - DON'T DO THAT! Service was on the slower end until we received our food. The staff were in general easy going, though on the silly end. One of the staff members came off as passive passive, but it may have been a cultural difference - thankfully the others carried the vibes. Of course, we also had items from the regular menu too such as shishito peppers. When the majority of our premium items arrived, the staff had wheeled (yes WHEELED) in a cart of all the dishes, adding a table next to ours so we would have space to conveyer belt. We cleared them plate by plate, but the real challenge really was the rice-heavy sushi and rolls. Between the premium items: Tako Wasabi - Delicious! I'm generally a no-go on raw octopus, but I enjoyed how crisp these were in their wasabi sauce. Soft Shell Crab - a tad too soft and salty. The sauce was a tad too sweet, too. - Sashimi (Salmon, Halibut, Jumbo Scallop, Albacore) were all fresh and delicious. Back to the regulars, their miso soup was tasty, and so were their jalapeno bomb. The ex-girlfriend and roly poly were also very delicisous. Thank goodness we hadn't ordered more, because everything off the premium menu was DIFFICULT. We were not warned, and the staff must have been making bets on whether we were finishing or who would carry the team - makes me wish I had eyes on the back of my head! Even at the end, neighboring tables asked to take photos of our spread. At the end, the staff shared that even those ~ 200 lbs could not complete every order on the Premium AYCE menu... you've been warned! Took my family here last night and we had an amazing time! The premium AYCE sushi was a great deal! Everything tasted fresh and high quality. It's also a great spot for families. What makes this spot stand out is the quality thick cuts of fish, fresh wasabi (no need to pay extra for this!!), and their thoughtful takes on your usual AYCE items, like their baked mussels that were topped with both scallops AND crawfish, and edamame but make it with spicy chilies--I literally could not stop eating this! The reason for 3 stars is mainly because service was okay at best. Our waitress accidentally mixed up our order (salmon hand roll) and gave us salmon rolls instead. This wouldn't have been an issue until we asked a clarifying question about if we would have to pay the difference or not because this wasn't our mistake. She responded with "It's just 50 cents" which didn't answer the question and shifted a bit of the blame onto us like we made the mistake. With that answer, we asked to correct it with the handroll instead because that is what we ordered. After that, we received no attention, no water refills, nothing at all. When we paid the check, I didn't even receive my change??? We waited about 10 minutes for the check and change to arrive but did not receive it. Thought this was pretty rude but didn't press for the change and left what would've been our change (67 cents or so) as tip. This has the potential to be a good restaurant if staff is trained on proper service etiquette... I worked in the food industry so I empathize and know it is hard dealing with people all day, but this isn't the service I tip for and would hope to expect a better time next time. Hopefully there is a next time, I did want to enjoy this place but the experience was soured by this one individual. WOW!! Came as a group of 5 sunday night, and it was very nice and clean. All staff were kind, I forgot their names, maybe one named Monica, but service was 1000/10. Our water cups were always full, they came and checked in constantly, and let us know we could continue ordering and eating more. All fish was high quality, fresh, and well portioned, not too much rice either. We filled up after 3 BIG rounds of sushi. Mussels were FANTASTIC, definitely recommend getting them as well. New AYCE sushi spot that just opened up in downtown Alhambra earlier this year. The premium add-on menu is a bit confusing, and to be honest, I'm still not totally sure how it works. Definitely ask your server before choosing between the premium vs regular menu. That said, we opted for it and felt it was worth it, especially for the crab dishes. We were able to get a table immediately on a Sunday night. Our server did forget a few items, but that's pretty typical for AYCE spots. The dining area is spacious and well lit. Overall, the sushi is good and definitely worth it if you're craving AYCE sushi without leaving the area. I've been here a few times and always have a great experience. The service is always great and the food is mostly very good. It's a cute spot that took over Tomomi. They offer 2 types of AYCE Sushi - Regular and Premium. One thing I really like was the option to have mixed types. One person can get Regular and another could get Premium. They control this by having one round from the Premium menu. It is totally worth it when part of the group gets premium as there is a lot of food. I'll denote with "*". I haven't tried everything on the premium menu, only the ones I wanted to try. Salmon Blue Crab* - I have had the blue crab on 2 separate occasions and they always tastes fishy to me Soft Shell Crab* - After 1 bite, my nephew yells, "this is my FAVORITE!". Yes, it's really good. New Style Sashimi* - choices of Halibut, Yellowtail, Jumbo Scallop (my fave), Tuna, Salmon, Albacore, and/or Octopus - fresh seafood with sauces. I had pretty high expectations for this place since it is highly rated. Round 1 was pretty good. We got our food promptly and the nigiri was all pretty fresh. The appetizers such as miso soup, shishito peppers, edemame were all pretty standard. Round 2 was when it started going a bit downhill. They forgot all my eel orders and they gave one plate of our order to the table next to us. That table ended up telling them they didn't order it after 5-10 minutes and they took it back to check the order slip and then just re served us the same plate, which IMO is not very hygienic. If you delivered to the wrong table, you should have the kitchen remake the order even if it was untouched. Anyways that just left a poor taste in my mouth for the rest of the meal. Just had lunch here and we left super happy! Firstly, when you walk in, you're greeted with a clean, beautifully decorated space. The restaurant is big and good for groups. I loved the art and the look of the booths. We got regular and one premium AYCE. *Get the premium AYCE!* it's soooo worth it! You can order from the premium and regular AYCE menus. The fish is fresh! If you're looking for yellowtail and salmon collar, be sure to get there when they open. They only use the collars of the fish they are serving that day (nothing frozen) so quantity is limited. Everything we had was delicious! My fave dishes were the sushi blossom, all the premium sashimi, the soft shell crab, and the salmon collar. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's a great price point for all that you get. The menu is HUGE, and it's good. They had to explain the specials menu, and basically it means that you can get several orders! Read reviews about only doing one round or something was off and I agree with some of them. Service and wait time wasn't the problem since we didn't wait that long and service was pretty quick. The food was just off. My girlfriend and I think it was the oil the used on top of some of the sashimi plates it wasn't mixing well and they put a jalapeño on pretty much 4 out of the 5 sashimi plates we had. I like chili but even I had to take off some pieces since I was just tasting the chili and the oil. We only 1 round of food and called it quits. The price is tough to beat, the atmosphere is great for such an affordable sushi spot, and the front of house staff are very nice and quite good. Food is... okay, but then, what are you expecting for $29.99 weekday lunch? However, the rough part was the speed of the kitchen. Not sure what happened-- guessing they were short-staffed, so while I actually do have a ton of sympathy for them-- what should have been an hour-long casual lunch with coworkers over a round or two of sushi ended up taking more than two hours, and even then, not all of the rolls we ordered arrived. We did do some nigiri in the second round, which to their credit, arrived quite quickly. Now being AYCE, we actually did have enough food even with the missing rolls (especially when we think at least 1 other roll was mis-delivered to us), but even so, we left relatively disappointed. The manager reached out and acknowledged that the sushi we ate that day was bad, gave me a refund, and a gift card to comp a portion of our meal. We decided to try it again today sans the premium option and the sushi was very good. The service was courteous and fast because we arrived pretty early and it was super busy by the time we left. Things to note: you only get 3 rounds of order and 2 hour limit which was plenty for us. Favorite was the sweet shrimp, salmon, and the yellowtail. The roll and house salad was very good, too. Order process: Mark off the items you want on the paper menu which allows you to go for 3 rounds of AYCE. They provide very nice color menus with photos of most dishes to reference. It is a bit confusing as the menu has prices for each item. This is meant for to go orders. For the AYCE dine in experience you can order anything from that menu. So disregard the prices. Food: 5 stars Everything we ordered was fresh and tasted amazing. Food quality for the nigiri sushi, rolls and cooked hot foods were all plentiful and tasted fresh. Even the tempura came out piping hot! This shows it's made to order and not fried in advance and sitting in the kitchen. For two people, we ordered two rounds of food and it was plentiful and worth the price. The best part is that the nigiri sushi and rolls didn't come with a lot of rice. They really want you to enjoy all the dishes and not pad with rice to fill you up. Water is free, beverages need to be ordered. Hubby & I have come to Eat's Ayce Sushi a couple of times now and while both times were good, we do see that if they have a larger party to service, then everything slows down. Being so close to home, we've enjoyed our times dining in and Eat's could become the regular AYCE sushi place for us if they can continue this level of service & food quality during their new opening. Our first time in was for Valentine's Day and we got a table right away. We did the regular AYCE menu (~$40/pp) and drinks are not included (only water). So far, with their new opening the sushi has been fresh and the rice quantity is small and service is fairly good. During our second visit, there was a large party dining in as well that had a reservation. Their orders slowed down the kitchen quite a bit - by the time we were waiting for our second round of goodies, we were getting full waiting for our next round to come out. I think if you order sushi, it comes out faster than some roll-only orders. They do have salmon & yellowtail collar (a good size too!) and a bunch of the usual appetizers. Sushi is standard (salmon, tuna, etc.)...but I do enjoy their "peppered" sushi bites too. Their garlic edamame is a crowd pleaser and they also have no-rice rolls similar to Tomomi before. Parking is around DT-Alhambra lots on 1st St. or street parking. All the servers we had are quick to check on us and will introduce the menu if it's your first time. They're attentive and just know that if your menu isn't brought back, it might be because one/two items are holding it up from the kitchen, but you can always ask them to check. However, that's as good as it got because the rest of the experience was ok at best and borderline terrible at worst. We got asked if everything was ok literally once BEFORE we even started eating and was never checked up on again after. We had to stare at the servers walking by for a chance of them to notice us afterwards since they couldn't hear us if we called out. The food was mid, the scallops weren't tender and the fish was just ok. We ordered the popcorn roll on our first round and it came out within like 1-2 minutes within us placing our order. The fried pieces on top weren't even warm and was kinda soggy like they made it by mistake 4 hours ago and just decided to leave it there for the next victim when/if it was ordered.
