Came here on a Friday evening and it was empty. I ordered a single ebikahuku for togo. I enjoyed the peeled large shrimps. It was a good portion, there were about 9 of them. There was a lot of garlic but this sauce was flavorless. I had to add salt and soy sauce. I have had Giovanni's shrimp truck and prefer Giovanni's. The rice here was over cooked it was sticking to the togo box, not a great texture to eat, and difficult to scoop out of the box. Note: I have been eating togo around the island and bags have mostly been included. I usually get told when a bag is extra. This is the only restaurant that I got charged an extra $0.50 for togo because of the mandatory bag fee. I didn't even know that this fee was going to be added on. I should have been told that if I ask for togo a bag would cost an extra $0.50. (I did not want to eat there, there was only outside seating and it looked/felt dirty there was birds everywhere.) Got this for breakfast one morning. Close to my hotel near Waikiki beach, so it is a little more on the expensive side but still worth it because of the amount of food and flavor. Beef stew was slightly tart to cut through the fatty beef, nice thick sauce, carrots and I believe they use more waxy potatoes that hold up and not just turn to mush. Their garlic shrimp is great in flavor, amazing in value, and spectacular for the many chunks of garlic in the sauce. Many restaurants and trucks shy away from showing you what you came here for- garlic atop shrimp. And the staff proudly smother plump and well-cooked shrimp with all that garlic. Everything about a plate is wonderful, and I highly recommend it. Separately, we also tried the potato shrimp, which tasted good but missed the mark- it came to us cold and oily. I finally got to try Ebi-nomi. I had already ordered my main entrée elsewhere so i ended up getting something small here - The potato shrimp about $7. The taste was ok, but seemed like it was 90% potato and 10% shrimp. They also offer you packets of tarter or ketchup upon request. I probably would not get this again. Hoping to try other things on the menu. I did see they have a prime rib special on sundays. There is no Kamaaina Rates here, and there's a few tables outside for you to eat at. EbiNomi is located along Kuhio Ave, between Nahua and Nohinani St., behind Marugame Udon, and in the courtyard of Kuhio Banyan Club Hotel. Only street parking, or in the International Marketplace or Hyatt Centric parking garages if you're planning to visit other places for parking validation. Making a reservation was super easy and very convenient. This promotion only applies for dinner time from 6pm-8pm. When we arrived, there was a nice table under an umbrella reserved for us. You go in to order first and enjoy your meal in the courtyard. The tables are spread out well. When you first read the name EbiNomi, the first thing that comes to mind is this place must be famous for the Shrimp or offer many styles of shrimp as "ebi" is shrimp in Japanese. However, that wasn't quite the case. The menu is quite unique and quite multi-cultural. There's only six items on the "All Day Menu." Four shrimp entrees representing Mexico, Thailand, United Kingdom, and Hawaii. The other two are Hungary and good ol' U.S.A. First entree was the EbiKahuku. Gotta rep the 808, right? This is a Garlic Butter Shrimp on rice dish similar to the one you find at the shrimp trucks, but better!! There's eight pieces of jumbo size shrimp that were cooked very well. Tender, firm, and oh so sweet. The garlic aroma and flavor wasn't as prominent or strong as I expected given the large amount of it. But eventually, I got the sweet garlic flavor. This was a light dish. I personally needed some soy sauce and I'll be good to go. Next was the Hungarian Short Ribs. This was good! The short ribs were so tender and flavorful. The rest of the ingredients were onions, carrots, and half a white and red potato, and I could taste each ingredient. While the sauce was decent and surprisingly familiar, the taste was predominantly the restaurant style tomato ketchup, and I didn't get much of anything else. Overall, I had a nice experience, and was satisfied after the meal. The shrimp and short ribs were both prepared very well, but the taste was on the light side for me, and the flavor was one note. The service was excellent though. Our cashier, server, and personal DJ, Gianna, was awesome. She was very friendly, personable, attentive, professional, and courteous. She always asked if we needed anything and checked in on us often, and even asked what kind of music we wanted to listen to. I appreciate EbiNomi offering this buy one, get one promotion. We had a meh dinner nearby so we needed something else. Yelp brought us here and we decided to share a garlic shrimp plate. We previously had Giovanni's at Hmart food court a couple days prior, so that was the only place we can compare with. Overall Ebi Nomi is much lighter taste and less garlic. It could have used a bit more sauce so the rice can be soaked. We ate at the table outside even though our food was packed as takeout. To our surprise it was curry shrimp when we opened the box but the receipt taped on it was for a garlic shrimp plate. We had to take it back of course, and the worker was like no, it's garlic shrimp plate inside. She had to look twice for herself. Is there a term for someone who loves shrimp? Shrimp-holic? Shrimp-connoisseur? Shrimp addict? Whatever the term may be, if you love shrimp this is the place for you. Like the name suggests "Ebi" = えび = 'shrimps' "Nomi" = のみ = 'only' is what they do and they do it well. Their self professed description of their dishes captures and describes exactly what you will get: "Simple Foods Done Well." But before I get on to the food, I would like to mention their service. It is top-notch! Called twice on the phone and both times excellent phone etiquette. When we arrived for our reservation (more on that later), the staff was polite and thank us for our patience when there was a wait. (There was just one party ahead of us. We didn't have to wait long at all! But still, thought it was nice he said that.) And when we were shown to our table, the guy went through and wiped down both the table and the chairs. Talk about clean! The staff was also attentive after we sat down: he kept us informed on when our food will be arriving and checked in with us after we got our food to see how things were going. Oh and one thing I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE is that little basket beneath the table. Thank you to whoever it was that thought of that. It's so thoughtful! There has been countless times when a bag, purse or something is dropped on the floor when my husband tried to put it on the seat behind him. And when that happens, I have to place the bag, purse or something behind me which causes me to have to sit on the edge of the chair. And they do not skimp out on the garlic. (You'll be grateful to have to wear a face mask afterwards.) My breath was strong enough to kill an entire coven of vampires, haha. But this dish was so worth it. You will not regret ordering this! And the Garlic Shrimps here actually tastes healthy in comparison to the shrimp trucks'. There's always like a layer of oil/butter on the bottom when I get the food from the shrimp trucks. I swear, heartburn waiting to happen. I was in frrrrrrried food euphoria this past weekend!!! It all started a few weeks back when my friend Jennifer C. had texted me with a photo of some shrimp wrapped in this potato thingy...............that shrimp was such an eye catching pic that I told her we must investigate this place in Waikiki called - "EbiNomi". EbiNomi is a small eatery, as there is no inside seating (it's basically a grab & go kinda joint), but if you choose to eat on site, there is a courtyard area where there are several outdoor tables & chairs where you can sit and dine outside. Upon arriving at EbiNomi, we ordered the following items - 1. Hiroshima Fried Oysters (6 Pieces / $17.95) - Jumbo juicy oysters from Hiroshima breaded, & deep fried. Served with rice or their signature French Fries. 2. Potato Shrimp (4 Pieces / $7.95) - Shrimps wrapped in a potato spaghetti & deep fried. 3. Ika Karaage (4 oz. / $6.95) - Japanese style fried squid seasoned, breaded & deep fried. What can I say about the grub? Right off the bat, if you're into frrrrrrried food, then you've hit nirvana by coming here, and of the three items I purchased, the star of the show was the Hiroshima Fried Oysters!!! The Hiroshima Fried Oysters were plump & juicy, and as for the fries.......I love the way it was done, as there was some kinda coating on the fries, and inside of the fries reminded me of a steak fries texture. As for the Potato Shrimp, I was so happy to finally try it, as visually it looked unique! Unfortunately I had the impression that the Potato Shrimp was gonna be like a "tempura sized shrimp", but when I got the (4) Potato Shrimps, it was the size of my thumb. Although it was good, I'm not sure if it was worth it for just (4) thumb sized shrimps for just under $8.00 bucks? Last of all the Ika Karaage..........a good item, and like the restaurant mentioned, it's a great pupu to go with a cold beer! What a nice little restaurant in Waikiki! They are good, tasty garlic shrimps and curry albeit overpriced (expected for Waikiki though) however, they need to change their public piano hours signage. I wanted to play the piano, and on the sign it says 'hours of piano are 11-9, it is locked before and after. I asked her why it was locked (at 1:45pm.....)I wanted to play on it or let my child play, and when I asked the bored, Latina-looking transplant lady working the counter why it was locked which was confusing because of the signage; she told me I was wrong. And when I suggested to her that they change the signage then if that isn't correct, she just laughed at me and made me feel gaslit. Terrible. Why have a piano people can't play..? Or at least change the signage to reflect when it is actually locked/open for people to play. (The owner reached out to comment. I believe the RIFF RAFF was my daughter playing earlier. My 3 year old. I didn't know the piano is only for adults or professional musicians to play. If that is the case you should change your signage. I wanted to love this place. I saw an advertisement on my skymiles dining email and thought the menu looked good. I checked it out on yelp and saw that many people had a good experience here. Also, found out that they have a buy one get one free special for dinner if you use their reservation app. I was first interested in their EbiKahuku plate but then looking at their other choices, I decided I wanted to try that and their Hungarian beef stew. So after that background, on to my experience. Great: Service was great, Cashiers/Waitresses were very helpful and friendly. We got our favorite music treatment which my daughter chose some singer I never heard of. Deal for buy one get one free dinner entree was given without asking, our outdoor table was ready for us, for our reserved time slot and it was clean and romantic with the outdoor lights in full display. My son raved about his mild chicken curry which he claimed was so delicious, his best ever! Good: The EbiKahuku was good and I think I liked it more then my wife. I thought it was great because I loved the extra garlic like the real shrimp truck style. My wife said it was good but nothing special. She might have been mad because she wanted to try the Shrimp Ala King but I overruled her. Prices for the meals and drinks were reasonably priced for Waikiki and was probably my cheapest meal of our staycation. The SO-SO: The Hungarian Beef Stew 5.0. I didn't understand cause it wasn't like I read in the description so much that I think I read the description of the Hungarian Beef Stew 4.0 and that's what I wanted. I thought it was supposed to be fatty beef with soft tendons in the beef stew but what I got was the pretty lean, hard, and tasteless beef cubes with lots delicious vegetables and potatoes in a pretty powerful wine infused sauce. I know some people love healthy but they don't order beef stew. It should be fatty and full of flavor in my opinion. I loved that there was lots of onions in it but the fact that the beef was so disappointing kind of ruined my experience for that dish. Overall: I definitely would come back here if we do another Waikiki Staycation. I would stay away from the Beef Stew and I want to try their Prime Rib which was served on Sundays. Also, will let my wife choose whatever she wants next time. My son will most likely repeat his order as he loved it. I'm not going to pass on that especially when shrimp is involved. The only downside if you are driving is finding free or cheap parking. The food is definitely good I had the garlic shrimp and that dish saved me a long drive to the North shore. My companion ordered the Curry shrimp. That dish can be ordered mild, medium or OMG why did I do that HOT! Thankfully she ordered mild, which still had a little kick. The restaurant is really hidden in a courtyard behind Marukami Udon. This is a follow up to a previous review that I did for Ebinomi. Stewart from Ebinomi contacted me and asked me if I would give them the opportunity to show what the food is normally like or failing that he offered us a refund for the meal. I opted to give them another try and my second experience was so much better than our first experience. Stewart and his partner Wilson greeted my husband and myself and asked if we would like to have the garlic shrimp again or if we would like to try something else. I opted to have the garlic shrimp again and my husband decided to try the curry shrimp. The garlic shrimp was much better than the previous order. I had asked for the garlic to be not as overpowering. It looked completely different than what we had been served previously. Although we thoroughly enjoyed the garlic shrimp the highlight for us was the curry shrimp. It had just the right amount of heat and the sauce was lovely. I stumbled upon this spot while picking up breakfast this morning and made a mental note to come back. I had an early dinner, so it wasn't crowded and they were super quick with getting me my order. I'll start off with saying that I'm a super fan of the north shore garlic shrimp stands. So, I had to try the kahuku ebi from here. To be honest, it's not quite at the same level, but it's pretty darn close. And definitely worth coming here to avoid the super long drive up to the north shore. The dish was still garlicky and buttery and so delicious. Also, the shrimp is already deveined and peeled, making them super easy to eat. I also loved that there was so much garlic on the plate - I ended up eating way more rice than I usually do because of this. Also, side note for the company if you're seeing this, the wet nap inside is hilarious. Totally caught me off guard when I first looked in my bag and I had no idea...lol. Little hidden gem. The best garlic shrimp that I've tried in Honolulu. I came here on my first and last day in Honolulu. Love that there's no line and there are sitting areas just right outside. Gave this place an "a-ok" 3-star review, but dropped it down to 2. Definitely not the "best eatery in Waikiki" as they advertise. Lol. Apparently white rice alternatives are not a thing here. Don't ask, don't expect, don't advise. Even if you like sauce separate from your rice (I'm not really into soggy rice). And since this place doesn't have a "dine in" option, your take out curry or cream sauce will thoroughly be soaked through your rice by the time you eat it. The response from the owner was very snarky regarding my last review. Let me clarify that I "keep coming back" because I try to support the local businesses as I live right next door to Ebi Nomi. I also try to give the benefit of doubt that maybe the rubbery shrimp was just an off day or a one time thing. I tried to support your business because I was one of the small business in Waikiki affected by the city sign removal ordinance and knew that YOUR business was severely affected according to your statement on KITV, your business "took a downturn" since then. I was sincerely hoping that my initial review would be constructive in improving the quality of your food. Instead, you took this as an opportunity to not only not address the quality of your overcooked, rubbery shrimp but to make light and joke of my honest review. I wasn't disappointed. The Shrimp with Thai Curry sauce was good. I had the "Spicy". I should've had the Mild but no complaints. The Shrimp was peeled with the tail left on, which was good for me. Food is made to order so if you're in a hurry, phone in your order ahead of time. Next time, I'll try the North Shore style Shrimp. No parking so have someone drop you off and wait for you or you'll have to find street parking or pay to park in one of the many hotel or shopping plaza parking lots. I've been here a couple of times and only had the veggie curry. It has a good flavor and is a very generous portion with broccoli, cauliflower and onions. The staff are really friendly and helpful. There are a couple of tables outside, but I've only done take out. read more

I missed eating curry dishes. Growing up I used to eat curry dishes made by my grandmother. When I saw EbiNomi's curry menu, it felt like home. Upon meeting our dear friend Lisa, she got us a table outside of EbiNomi. We decided to celebrate her academic success. What a good way to start the weekend. We went to the counter to place our order. I decided on the curry vegetable plate. It tasted fabulous! The curry gave the vegetables such flavor! It came with cauliflower, asparagus, broccoli, carrots, a little bit of onion and two scoops of white rice. Joe requested the curry chicken and Lisa asked for the garlic shrimp. They said the food tasted amazing. Being a kiosk, the staff set up tables and some chairs so patrons can dine outside. EbiNomi turned out to be a gem waiting to be found.
