Eco caters handled our wedding back in July 2014 in Coronado. The entire experience was a breeze and they helped make our special day so memorable. We worked with Emily coordinating details from the menu to other vendors and Lauren was our day-of go-to girl who was such a life saver. One thing I wish we'd done is set a solid budget on food. I've never been to a wedding and didn't really know what to plan for. The invoice amount kept creeping up but I take responsibility for that since they didn't have a cut off number to work with. Our guests absolutely loved the food. We chose to do heavy apps and a seafood bar. I wouldn't change a thing! Lauren made sure to have a little food set aside for us so that we didn't starve. She was such a blessing. Toward the end of the night, I'd had a little too much to drink and Lauren was there to take care of me. They definitely go above and beyond. Thanks so much for everything. Eco Caters did a fantastic job from start to finish. My husband and I were impressed from the friendly welcoming vibe of our tasting, all the way through the process of giving us some seriously delicious food that all our guests raved about on our wedding day. There were so many delicious options to choose from, and it was actually from looking at their menu choices that we came up with the whole theme of our wedding! With so many types of cuisine offered, it's hard not to be inspired and think outside the box. And it was hugely helpful to hire Lauren as our coordinator, so she could guide us through the rentals and other details as well as oversee everything menu related. She had the calmest, friendliest (and most capable) spirit throughout the process-- and especially on our wedding day. And the bartenders and servers did too. Eco Caters was truly a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Their menu is extensive which made us a little skeptical at first but they deliver on every dish. It was the first tasting we went to and the food exemplified our personal style perfectly, which is really tasty, home-style cooking. The price was on the more reasonable end of all the quotes we received which made choosing them a no brainer. After tasting their food and working with them, it's hard to understand why other caterers charge so much more. They never tried to up-sell us and they were super flexible in working with our budget. They worked with us on the rentals, in bringing in our own desserts, and tailoring the menu to accommodate our preferred dinner style. We ended up doing a family style service with serve yourself coffee and people loved it. Lauren was such a pleasure to work with. She was also on it, responsive, upbeat and professional. Wow! Eco Caters made our wedding an amazing day! Working with the whole team was easy and personal, from the first tasting with chef Nick to the clean up at the end of the big day. I have had SO MANY guests comment that the food was way better than "wedding" food. Everyone was super impressed! Words cannot describe how incredible it was working with Eco up to the end. The execution of our menu was impeccable - the service was so buttoned up and perfect - I could not had asked for anything different. I loved every minute of working with Dana and Michelle. They were a true pleasure to deal with and are so detailed in how they go about designing the menu. I had a vision of exactly what I wanted to serve at our wedding and they made it all come to life. It was also so awesome to be able to work so closely with the chef in designing a menu that captures our taste and what we, as a couple like to eat and how cool to think that everything at the wedding has been bought the week of at the local farmers markets?!? Absolutely wonderful. The food is excellent but it's the service that made Eco outstanding. We used them for our wedding 2 months ago and loved them. Michelle and Dana were fantastic at helping us with everything from customizing our food for vegans, choosing vendors/ rentals and even just giving us ideas to cut costs and decor wise. So impressed. They may not be the cheapest caterers but you really get what you pay for. Actually, I would have paid them even more for all their wedding planning help too! read more

I had a five day photo shoot in Malibu and hired Eco Caters for breakfast and lunch daily. They were great to work with and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend them. They spend time with me before the shoot creating the menu and halfway through the shoot when the client had a specific breakfast request (that required changing the menu a bit) they were flexible enough to fulfill the request. They were on time and polite and did a great job cleaning up at the end of every day. In the end I had a happy client and a great shoot and will hire them again next time I have the opportunity to do so. And did I say the food was delicious? read more

We hired Eco Caters for our wedding based on the reviews, and we also had an excellent experience. We had a brunch reception with a mimosa bar for which they also provided the juices and bartending service. We had fairly simple requests - we ended up going mostly with items from their standard breakfast offering (although I do recommend getting the bacon without the super-sticky maple glaze). They can customize all you want, though, or create things that are not listed on the standard offering. Chef Rob offered to do fancy things with Hollandaise, or French omelets, which we appreciated even though we didn't take him up on it. Even though our menu was easy for him, he still brought his A-game. The Belgian waffles were particularly delicious and fluffy. As another reviewer mentioned, the food tasted as good or better the day of as it did in the tasting. Our only regret was not having leftovers to take home - maybe there weren't any. Even though we had a buffet, they included some servers, and staffing costs ended up being a big proportion of the price. The servers were hard at work the whole time, though - they kept water glasses filled, cleared plates, moved chairs, and generally made sure the guests were comfortable. Also, they cut and served the cake (bringing plates and forks to each guest) for no additional cake-cutting fee. So in the end we definitely saw the wisdom of having them there and found it well worth it. The bartenders kept things going in good spirits despite the bar being located in the sunniest, warmest spot in our site (Sorry bartenders!) We initially worked with Lauren, who was very friendly. She also worked with us to accommodate a few guests' dietary restrictions without changing the whole menu for everyone, and was willing to work with us to reduce the costs of the dishware and linen rentals if necessary. Day-of, Sandra took the lead, and she was impressive - very kind and very on top of timing and guests' needs. All in all, it was good food and a smooth operation. read more

I don't normally write reviews but wanted to give a big shout out to Eco. We recently had them cater our wedding at Marvimon and had the most amazing time...largely in part due to Dana and the Eco team. Dana was also our day of wedding coordinator and it was the best decision we made. She went above and beyond in every way from our initial email to inquire about a tasting to calling me two days before the wedding just to check in to see how I was doing. Dana made us feel like we were the only ones she was working with. Her attention to details, knowing when to give us ideas and when to give us space to think about all the decisions we had to make showed us how invested she was in one of the most important days of our lives. We worked with the rest of the Eco team on the day of the wedding and they were equally amazing. What I appreciated was the care they took in making sure our guests were having a good time. We can't count how many compliments we received about the Eco service and food. Several of our guests commented on the professionalism and friendly service they received from the staff who put in very long hours on that day but they were all smiles. And the food was absolutely amazing! We had the grilled sea bass as one of our entrees and many of our guests who normally don't eat fish loved it. We used Eco Caters to provide the food for our wedding at Castle Green (their preferred caterer, Castle Catering, provided the service). We chose them because we are big fans of Spork Foods and knew that they could provide us with an elegant vegan menu to serve to 100 meat loving guests. It was exactly what we wanted- "classy" comfort food! Our guests were probably worried they'd be eating salad and carrot sticks all night, but they were amazed by the portobello cordon bleu, the pasta with porcini meatballs, the buttermilk ranch mashed potatoes and the pistachio pesto brown rice (many of which were also gluten free!) Not to mention the veggie sushi and the spinach artichoke dip appetizers which were as beautiful as they were delicious. We had many guests say to us "if everything I ate was like your wedding food, I could be a vegan." We loved opening our guests eyes to the possibilities of a delicious vegan lifestyle and thank Eco Caters so much for giving them and us a great experience :) read more

I had one chance to make good on a party for fifty guests, all discerning foodies and great friends. No room for mistakes. Had never hired a caterer before. Three months out, I needed to pin one down, as most book well in advance. Asked a friend, also an invitee, whose advice I take without question, for a recommendation. Eco Caters, he said, without a pause. Next morning, I get on the phone to Emily Brune, at Eco Caters in San Diego. Looking for finger foods, I said. What can you do for me? She sent me a detailed list of the possibilities and said I'd need to firm up my choices by two weeks before the event. Sent in a deposit to commit for September 22. Two weeks out, I'm still not sure what I want, never having sampled the food. Give me the best you can for the money I'm spending, I told her. I'm expecting vegetarians and meat eaters: Meet those needs and we're covered. Tell Adam, the chef, to use his imagination; I'm good with whatever he comes up with. Well, I must say, the food and the service exceeded my expectations, not that they were low to begin with. On the contrary, I had high expectations and needed to see them met. And I have the word of fifty guests who repeatedly told me the food and service were excellent, and that I should do this again sometime--near future preferably. Was I lucky on the first shot? Yes and no. Yes, because I knew nothing about Eco Caters, never tried their food before. No, because I knew, going in, that I'd be in good hands. One can draw a moral from the story: Trust your instincts. Sometimes friendly advice can make all the difference. read more
