When you're in the area, this is definitely a great stop coffee shop! The prices are decent, but the drinks are amazing. I had the White Chocolate Mocha w/ soy over ice. I really dislike the powdery taste that soy has, but sadly I cannot take my coffee with milk. This place extinguished my lost hope for a perfectly blended White Chocolate Mocha! Perfect amount of coffee undisturbed by the sweet syrup. Not watered down or lukewarm. Coffee can only be cold or hot, not lukewarm! I wish I lived closer, I'd drop in more often. So...I'm not quite sure why people love this place, though I think it may be a case of indie-worship, whereby a business gets inflated ratings by the very fact of its not being a corporate monster. Not the best place to sit down and read your book, nor is it the best place to hang out and chat with a friend or a coffee date, but it is a cute coffee shop, and I do think that they put good use to the small space that they have available. You can browse the wall arts while waiting for your Latte, and if you have time to kill, take your Latte and go across the street for a stroll in the park. Since I'm still on my Chai Tea craze right now, I of course ordered a Chai Tea Latte. My latte could have used a bit more spice, but otherwise it was pretty good. Love Eco Coffee. They offer a wide variety of non-dairy milk options and the staff is super friendly. The only downside is that there isn't a lot of seating. But the beverages beat the local coffee competition hands down. When I went and ordered a mango tea, the barista even asked me to sample a new recipe and gave me the choice of which I preferred. Came here with my boyfriend yesterday and it was amazing! The prices were nothing to complain about considering how costly drinks are at Starbucks or coffee bean or anywhere, really. I got the mango blend/smoothie? And for my bf, a reg. mocha. We tried each drink as well as each other's and LOVED them both. I'm not a fan of overly sweet drinks and the mango smoothie was sweet to perfection, just the right amount of fruitiness and none of the yucky taste of artificial "fruit" or saccharin. The mocha was good as well! I loved the taste, like a coffee hot chocolate, it was perfect! Also, it stayed hotter longer after putting it into our own mugs. At the time I went there they didn't have a lot of the ingredients to make the drinks I wanted. However, the worker who was taking my order was super helpful in creating some type of coffee beverage for me. So even though they didn't have toffee nut or ingredients for that mayan drink, I was still very happy with the concoction she stirred up for me. I even wanted more after I found out I finished it all :( lol They are a friendly staff that are willing to make their customers happy. Although I enjoyed my horchata latte, I was forced into buying a larger size than desired. I am usually a "small" sized coffee/tea girl. When I went to the counter to order, the girl was busy making drinks. She asked what I wanted. I didn't specify a size, because I thought she was going to come to the register to finalize the order. A nice little coffee shop with a very distinct South American style. Even their coffee beans are from south of the border and roasted by none other than Long Beach's best local, organic coffee roaster, True Beans. Their pastries are from none other than the famous and delicious Cuban bakery, Porto's. I had a latte today and it was excellent! I have also had their excellent horchata latte which, for a sweet coffee, was very unique and tasty (I prefer my coffee unsweetened usually). The place is small but it has a nice outside patio and a very hip vibe. The decaf coffee they use is also the organic, super-good True Beans coffee that uses the natural, non-toxic Swiss Water Method for decaffeination. Excellent! FYI, once in a long while in emergencies they use coffee from Golden State Coffee Roasters whose coffee is NOT organic and whose inquiries about their decaffeination process went unanswered. It's rare, but if it matters to you just ask. If you're in the mood for a great cup of coffee, this is definitely the place to get it! I'm so glad there is a coffee house near where I live that serves True Beans coffee! Yum! read more

Summary: -Coffee I had was good (Mayan, with cayenne pepper because I'm all about that spice). -Baristas are pretty friendly and willing to serve. -If it's your kind of thing, this place is usually favored by the Hipster species, so be warned or get pumped... whichever category you fall into. -Small place with Hipster decor. I felt like I was in Santa Cruz instantly. The Special Blend: I saw this coffee shop and had nothing to do for a few hours so I came and gave it a try. I'm a bit of an ass when it comes to ordering things, and I like to make it tough on the server to complete my order, not out of spite but because I like to capture their perspective on the best side of their product (i.e. ask about what they would recommend, describe my wants and interests in a semi vague manner to see if they can better fit me with a product than I could fit myself since I lack the proper experience with their services to render an informed selection). These people were very willing and capable of responding to my inquiries. I wanted something with an extra kick of flavor, and this one dude (glasses and ponytail) was very legit about working with me while his partner in crime started to describe the Mayan with some pepper in it. I got pumped up that they were willing to try something like that since I had never had it. So I told them to blast it with pepper and that thing tasted great. Don't knock it until you try it ladies and gentlemen, that thing tasted good and wasn't classically spicy but just carried a presence of spice in the back of the throat that elevated the flavor significantly. I can legitimately say that if I had a favorite coffee, it exists here with that mayan with pepper. It is freakishly good and does the coffee world justice. Since then I've been back like 4 times and plan to keep coming back when I have time. As a "Starbucks addict" I found Eco Coffee satisfying enough to come back again and try other products that they have. It's a tiny (could've also used the word "cute") coffee shop with very limited seating inside & out. From what I could see, most people take their coffee "to go" though since they're walking their dog or jogging for exercise (it's SoCal after all). The Barista that served my friend & I seemed so knowledgeable & comfortable at what he was doing. And he had a very charming personality which totally fits in with that whole, relax-have-a-seat-and-drink-some-organic-coffee vibe. I had the caramel mocha latte & really enjoyed it....like I-wish-I-could-be-drinking-it-while-I'm-typing-this-review-out kind of enjoyment. So good & I'm looking forward to having it again sometime. I walked in while the barista was restocking the mini fridge upfront. Either he didn't notice me until I greeted him or he couldn't be bothered. There was no apology, just a half hearted "good morning" to follow. I told him I had never been there, but instead of a recommendation or a "great, Welcome!," there was an awkward silence. I asked what they had in the way of darker brews and to my surprise I was informed that they didn't have any. Out of desperation I still ordered because It is the closest coffee shop to my school. I ordered cold brew with a splash of soy. I watched him pour just a splash of soy, but the coffee is so weak it still tastes more like soy milk than coffee. Although the service could've been better, unfortunately I don't think I'll be back, mostly because of the flavorless coffee. read more

There's no doubt about it - I am pretty much in love with the place. At first I wasn't sure if I was at the right place because it is small. If you see the LB library, its basically across the street in front of what looks like a coffee cup bike stall. Can't miss it. I was greeted by a very kind employee who took down my order and then later given an amazing green tea frappe by the second employee who was also there. One of the gentlemen who was working at the time introduced me to their mascot (a pup with an awesome mohawk). The drink was absolutely delicious. The place is super small. I'm not even sure there's a bathroom available to customers--that's how small it is. But the atmosphere is really cool. The few times I've visited, they're playing really cool reggae or reggae rock types of music. The décor seems to be inspired by local artists showing off their talent. Customer service is great. When they ask how I'm doing, I respond, and they actually have something substantial to say in return. Lol. That may sound lame, but it gives me the feeling that their employees are genuine. Drinks... Now I go here for a drip coffee or a Chai Latte. I'm NEVER a chai latte fan. THIS PLACE TURNED ME OUT! My first job was as a barista at Starbucks, and so I've known chai to be spicy and disgusting even with milk blended or as a frap. This place does it right! Great coffee... especially the Mayan Mocha. Great variety of coffee drinks and prices is on par with most coffee shops. The best part as many have mentioned, is Portos! Closest spot in the area to get their pastries but be sure to go early to get the best selection. Glad I found this place as its between home and work, typically they aren't too busy mid morning when I'm heading to the office. My only qualm and really the only reason I don't give them 4 stars is that it takes a while to get your coffee drinks. Don't get me wrong I know good drinks take longer to make and they are more of a 'mom and pop' but that's my only thing when you're in a rush to get somewhere and need a quick fix. read more

During my internship, I was in need of a coffee fix and I found this coffee shop via Yelp. I walked in and was greeted by the barista. I ordered the toffee nut caramel latte, which was good! It had a subtle taste of toffee nut and it's not too sweet. They also sell Porto's potato balls! It's like getting a taste of Porto's without having to stand in the 30 minute line. It's a cute little coffee shop, if you are a college student and want to hang out and study by yourself its cool. If you want to bring a large group, its not going to work out. I thought the coffee drinks were decent, I didn't try any of the sweet blended drinks though, but my friend got one and it looked awesome. Usually there is just one employee working, so the wait for drinks can be a bit longer than average... it's usually not super busy so that's not much of an issue. Parking is in the back, a small private lot shared with other businesses, free. The place is good for kids, there's lots of snacks and drinks they would like, but its not a big place for them to run around. read more
