Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience here. I ordered a vanilla latte which took about 10 minutes to get and once I tasted it, I could not taste any vanilla. They said it was in there but did add more. The 'more' tasted like it should have in the first place. I rarely write a negative review but it just wasnt a pleasant experience. read more

I remember my first visit being pleasant, but in retrospect I think it was just so busy that it covered up how awful everything actually was. The baristas that day were genuinely so cool, Deja or Teja (I think?) and another guy. Didn't get his name but I remember him being super posh. Their energy honestly made the whole experience, like they fully carried it. I came back a few days ago and the vibe gave me whiplash. I asked for a flat white like last time and the barista didn't know what that was. Which is fine. I ordered a latte instead, oat milk, two pumps of lavender, and a single extra shot in a medium. Came out to around $9. I understand coffee prices, but when I saw the racks of Torani syrup my heart shattered. Like... seriously? And I was also told they use the same beans for drip coffee and espresso. I don't get how management justifies these prices for a drink that can't even qualify as mediocre. I feel kind of played. Torani, people. TORANI for NINE (9) dollars! The drink tasted like perfume and the milk was improperly aerated. I couldn't get a flat white, so I ordered a latte, but somehow received a cappuccino in the style of Chanel No. 1 off Santee Alley. A few sips in I saw an unidentified insect crawling behind the Torani racks and immediately left. Also the older people sitting comfortably on the patio wearing politically insensitive clothing... why did they stop their conversation to watch me walk in and out? Are they security? I guess the first time the employees made it fun enough that I came back, even with Blue Bottle right by my cosmetic ENT (which is why I was even in the area). I live on the northeast side of Los Angeles where there is no shortage of cafes to impress or disappoint me, so I can't believe I went out of my way to get scammed this blatantly. I can't recommend this place to anyone who actually likes coffee. I told my ENT about this place, so now I just hope he doesn't botch me out of spite in a few weeks. read more

Located in a plaza with plenty of parking!! They have outdoor and indoor seating. They have a great selection of drinks and food items. I decided to try the Iced vanilla oat latte which was delicious. It was so smooth & you could taste both the coffee and the vanilla! Matcha was 10/10. Good portion not too sweet and was actually flavorful. The matcha had a nice flavor because of the maple. The avocado on the bagel had a nice acidity to it (maybe lemon/lime) either way it went excellent with the egg and the bagel. Portion is generous and it is a big bagel. Service was quick. Ok this is my favorite coffee spot. I drive everyday 10-15 min to get my coffee every morning because the afternoon crew is not it. This morning made me uncomfortable. Ordered my usual asked for extra cup of ice yes they charge for ice to me not a big deal. This time the young lady who took my order forgot to charge me for the ice (which I would assume was because she was looking for the firefighter orders because they lost the ticket of their drinks.) and what I would assume is the lead or manager dark hair wears glasses decided to out her out loud enough for even me to hear about having to charge me for ice. Now I don't care that they charge me it's 25 cents But I don't appreciate her saying it to the worker for everyone to hear. If her saying it made me the customer uncomfortable I could only imagine how the worker feels. She could have easily pulled her to the side and just reminded her about charging for ice and on top of that my coffee sucked today. Today made me think about coming again. The local grind is my go to coffee spot. Great service and great coffee. Only problem is this only happens in the morning. Morning crew is always pleasant and welcoming. Most of all they make my coffee perfectly! Anytime in the afternoon the coffee is terrible. Taste extremely to milky. The crew isn't very welcoming. If we make a complaint or ask for something (extra icthe crew seems to be bothered by these things. It seems like we're a burden rather than a customer. So we just don't complain anymore and stick to the morning crew and they're great work. I'd give a better review if the morning crew worked throughout the whole day. Thank you morning crew! Honestly a super cute shop but the barista with the inside-out shirt, rosy cheeks, and dark hair made my visit here awful. Aside from the rudeness and clear disdain for being there, she made the mocha I ordered carelessly. Received it with a mountain of sugar crystals at the bottom that stuck to the inside of the straw with every sip. I've ordered the same drink at the other Local Grind and I KNOW the version I received today was not supposed to taste like liquid diabetes. Aside from that , 4 tables inside and there are outlets! The service was amazing! I love going back to places where there's good service. I tried the triple chocolate shake and it was, well, very chocolatey! We also got a 24 oz white chocolate with raspberry foam and got a 16 oz but since it was made already we didn't feel the need to have it remade. I'm sort of a regular here. I order my usual iced latte or iced matcha, unsweetened, with almond milk. The quality of the drinks are good. All the bakery items are also exceptional, with the ham and cheese croissant or cinnamon roll are my faves. Normally would give a 4-star but due to their new hours, closing at 3pm, makes it no longer an option. Came by yesterday at 3:15 - cliosed. It's 3:15 right now and craving a coffee and treat but again, theyre closed. Especially with longer day's, we're going into summer, it's Friday and i cant even get a coffee at my usual place. The place used to be good Not sure what happened, but the last 2 times we went in there we both ordered funky monkey's. Last week we figured that they weren't made right cause the guy was new. Today they were made by someone I know has been there awhile. They were just not made right. It was obvious that some ingredients were left out. Also my wife's drink was not even blended well. I think the workers are very nice. However I wouldn't recommend it for coffee, the iced coffee and the latter I had didn't have much flavor at all. I would recommend a sandwich from them though I liked that the bagel bread wasn't very thick and too much bread. We got the bacon cheddar bread for our sandwiches and it was really good. I would say my bf sandwich of the sausage was kind of dry I would maybe get the bacon omelette breakfast instead. But I'd recommend the ham and cheese sandwich it was yummy read more

This coffee shop is everything I would expect from a local coffee shop. I had their lox bagel - very good, definitely recommend. I also had a latte and that was also yummy. It's not the closest shop to me, so not sure if I would go out of my way to visit again, but if I were in the area I definitely would dine in again. My sister and I stopped by after visiting our friend in the same plaza. We got the turkey bagel and the local bagel with pesto. They were out of plain bagels so I got the everything bagel. The local bagel had the world's smallest amount of egg, but it was still pretty tasty. My sister enjoyed the turkey bagel and was pleased with the amount of turkey, but it wasn't evenly distributed through the whole sandwich. I also got the seasonal pumpkin cheese muffin. It took longer than the bagel sandwiches to get and I had to remind them to get it. It was very rich. I was only able to eat half of it. Overall, it's a cute cafe with a small gift section and satisfactory food. It's ADA friendly and with outdoor seating. Maybe I'll try something else next time. read more

We were in the area and in need of some caffeine ASAP. Local Grind just happened to pop up in our Yelp search so we made a quick u-turn to arrive to a busy cafe. The place smelled great and if we had had time, we would have gotten a bite to eat; the bagels looked delicious. I could tell that this lives up to its name with the number of what looked like locals hanging out and enjoying their breakfasts. I just had my standard oat milk latte and it was made just right, i.e., not a hint of charred or burnt taste. If we're back in the area, I'll return to try some food. read more

Stopped in here this morning for a quick bite after viewing what was local and saw this place had 4.0 stars. I figured 4!stars was good enough. I should have listened to my intuition when I walked in and something smelled burnt. Not like burnt bread but something slightly chemical. I ordered the "562". It is made with vanilla powder rather than syrup but I was told it was sweeter than a vanilla latte. Since I like my coffee on the sweet side, I ordered it. It is an extremely mild coffee - like even milder than a vanilla a sweet cream cold brew from Starbucks. And it wasn't very sweet. I asked them to make it sweeter and though I requested syrup, they added more vanilla powder to keep it true to the recipe. It's alright. I also ordered the LG bagel which is essentially avocado toast but on a bagel. They were out of roasted tomatoes so I opted to leave them off and added an egg. Just check out this egg. It is clearly microwaved after a quick stir. I don't know what they microwaved it in, but when my Old Ironsides of a stomach got upset after just two bites, I have to conclude that either the baking dish was styrofoam or unclean. And apparently no one has heard of salt or other seasonings because I rarely salt my food but had to add a bunch of salt to make my second bite palatable. We dumped the bagel in the trash with only 2 bites missing from either side. I noticed they had syrup and vanilla powder set out so I could add more to my coffee. Surprised to see the syrup was the same as what I could buy myself at HomeGoods, I resisted the temptation to revolve the bottle to see if I could find a HomeGoods sticker on it. Picked up the shaker of vanilla powder and noticed a glob of yellowed powder sticking to the surface inside top, which made me question when the last time it was cleaned was. I'm not usually quite so picky, but after dumping a $10 bagel and walking out with an upset stomach, I may be being pickier than usual. 2 stars are for the pleasant servers. read more

This used to be my bf and I go to place every Sunday but things have changed. The past two occasions I've been here have been horrible. The first time i went, they handed my food to someone else. They took it to their car, opened it and talked over it before bringing it back in. The employees then proceeded to give me the same bagel without remaking it. I have been wanting to try this place for a while. It looks very cozy inside and seems popular with locals. Suffice it to say I was pretty disappointed when I finally did. The Matcha Latte was so bad that I tossed it after just a few sips. The matcha flavor was extremely lacking even after remixing it. I basically paid $6 for almost hot green almond milk. My friend's Americano was also very bitter and lacking a good smooth coffee flavor. I did not have any pastries but they do look good. However since the matcha and coffee experience was not pleasant I doubt I'll return. The service was ok. It wasn't friendly but it wasn't rude - just there. As mentioned though, it seems popular so it could have just been my experience that day. read more

I get trying to maintain profitability, but something to consider, my regularity at this spot went from 5-6 days a week to 2-3 times a month, in no small part due to cold coffee and/or grounds in the bottom of my cup of cold coffee.. My last multiple visits have been such a disappointment, I've been a long time customer and order the same drink every time a simple ice blended white mocha. And today was my last visit seems that nobody in the shop can make a flavorful drink , it's tastes like a watered downed no flavor cup of just blended ice, and when the drink settles in the cup it ends up only being 2/3 of the cup. 11/19:22 after eating at Bake & Broil we were searching a place that's close to Long Beach for an oat milk latte. Local Grind was on my bookmarked list so off we went. It's at a strip mall by Pavilions, cross streets Spring & Woodruff. The indoor capacity is probably about a dozen & about another dozen outdoors. There was an awful smell of something burning inside (burnt popcorn or burnt bread maybe?). The girl at the counter greeted me & took my order. An oat milk latte for hubby & a matcha latte for me, I wish I didn't. We're both not super impressed with our orders. My matcha was a bit "meh" and it could've used a little bit more oomph. Hubby didn't particularly like his either & I should've just ordered the 12 oz instead of the 20 oz. Well, it was worth a try but it's not some place I'd return for matcha or latte. read more

They do make a delicious white chocolate mocha but it is about $3 more expensive than the well known coffee shop down the street. When I have the extra $$$ to spend I do some here. The staff is always nice and the outside patio usually has some regulars with very cute dogs. read more

I love their coffee but both times I went there the staff (two different girls) were not friendly at all and I felt like I was bothering them. I'm sorry if you hate your job but maybe you should reconsider working in customer service. After she put my coffee out for me to grab she couldn't even be bothered to say, have a nice day (mind you I was the only person in there so she wasn't busy or anything.) What a cute cafe! I came to the Long Beach area early so I can get a snack and a beverage before my hair appointment (I didn't know how long that would take). I found this place on the way and I loved the cafe. I'll definitely come back, I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and an iced tea and asked them to surprise me on the kind of tea I should have and it was the biggest iced tea i have ever seen!
