So I don't come here *often* just because it's not down the street, and there are multiple wonderful coffee shops that *are* down the street - but I have now been here several times for one reason or another since they opened about a year ago, and it is pretty neat. Might well be the coolest *vibe* coffee shop in Long Beach. Funny enough, every time I happened to be in the immediate area, it just happened to be during a Sunday morning "listening session", so I had thought that meant they only play interesting records from their collection on Sunday morning, which is, as it turns out, entirely inaccurate: they are *always* playing records from their large collection of interesting records, just that most Sunday mornings, they do a specially-curated "listening session" where they briefly talk about their selections, then bring up the volume a little and ask people to be quieter, to enjoy the music. Which is pretty neat! I should really go to those more often, instead of just by accident each time. Unusually, they really focus entirely on class drinks, they don't have any zany personalized fancy lattes on their core menu, which I'm totally fine with - their espresso is entirely worth drinking on their own. I'm also very happy with their pastry selection, which they get from Colossus - their brownies are very good, *very* affordable, and go spectacularly with espresso, so that's a draw in and of itself. The only thing I couldn't get quite as much behind - I was so excited when they announced a couple months ago that they'd just started a new brunch menu, to include breakfast tacos. Breakfast tacos are bomb, something restaurants in California haven't really seemed to have caught onto, so I went there immediately to try them. Anyway, they're pretty tasty, but not *extraordinary*, and for $9, they aren't particularly large. It's also not a very large space, either so it's a lot easier finding a comfortable seat to quickly drink a coffee with a bit of brownie, than it was that time, finding a comfortable spot to eat a proper meal. Given I was eating a proper meal, though, I did also try their green iced tea to go with it, which I can confirm is also delicious, super refreshing, and was at the time, a very reasonable $3.50. Went great with the tacos, for sure, though I don't think I'd go back for either of them. I would definitely stop by for coffee and a brownie any time I was in the area, though, and I really *should* remember to intentionally make it to more of their Sunday morning sessions. read more

Nice spot! When I got there it was a lot smaller than I expected but the outdoor seating has plenty room. The customer service was great. It has a warm cozy feel and the drinks are reasonably priced for the area. There's tons of street parking too. read more

I discovered Dedo Coffee through a past yelp, elite invite, and decided to return with a friend recently. I was happy to see that they had a few customers out on the patio and inside the café. I'm glad to see they are busy. I will say that coming on a Saturday morning, it was very challenging to find parking. I parked on the street about a block away. The friend I invited, had seen this place a couple times, but never knew what it looked like, and they were pleasantly surprised of the look and fill inside the café. it definitely gives retro vibes and a very clean look. We did experience some hostility from the female barista when we asked for napkins, and utensils for our croissant. I think she was having a bad day, we saw her outside and the attitude was not a good look. It happens! We sat outside and enjoyed our drinks and baked goods. They have some water falls outside, but be careful. There are a lot of flying insects and the water can sometimes smell a little, but it's not too bad. I was able to visit the restrooms this time and I was surprised that they had two, and I will say that they were very clean, the look and feel match the vibes of the café. They did an amazing job with this. I will definitely be returning here. The barista who took my order, the man was able to create for me a hot honey cinnamon latte, which isn't on the menu, but it was delicious. It wasn't too sweet. read more

This place is so awesome! We were in the need of a pick me up and this place was close by. We saw the pictures but as we all know pictures don't do a place justice. Walking into here you knew this was a different kind of place when you see the vinyl player playing laid back music. Service was also extremely friendly and quick. Both of our drinks were not good at all! We got a vanilla latte and hojicha. The vanilla latte tasted like straight milk only and absolutely no coffee in it. As for the hojicha, it was not earthy and also had a horrible ratio and tasted like milk. The shop is so cute, minimalistic, and cozy. They play records and they also have an outdoor seating area. I've been here three times and every time I'm blown away by their green tea selections. I've been to plenty of coffee shops that advertise their trendy matcha drinks. But Dedo doesn't need to add fillers like artificial syrups, boba, or dollops of cream to have a lasting impact on you. The quality of teas they have here is phenomenal. The hojicha is so smooth and almost chocolately. Their matcha is rich and the touch of honey I opted in for didn't cloud the herbal taste of the green tea. This is one of my fave coffee shops in the greater LA area and that says a lot. Plus the interior decorating is so stylish and cool. Green truly doesn't help calm your mood, on top of the music playing on their hifi record player. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

Big patio, in the cut, then you step inside and it's this small, cozy and cute little coffee shop. Definitely love the vibes, although small, it has really nice design and decor, minimal so it doesn't feel cluttered or stuffy. I definitely liked the green. Super chill vibe as soon as you enter. It felt like I was transported to pre tech days of chilling and listening to records. It's a small cafe tucked away from the street. There is outdoor seating in front and cool cozy seating inside. Space enough for studying and low level meetings. The menu is simple yet organically fits the ambiance. What a little gem in Long Beach! The first thing you know is when you walk in is the beautiful interior design. I think it's the small attention to details that really make this place stand out. This cafe had been on my list to try since it is recently opened in Long Beach. It has a large outdoor patio space which is nice. Inside it beautiful with a modern hipster vibe. The appeal is "coffee and hi-fi" and they have vinyl records playing in the cafe. There's WiFi and a good amount of seating inside. Such a lovely spot to catch up with friends in LB! Easy to get to since it's near the 405 but was kinda hard to find street parking. If you're trying to get breakfast, you should come early. This place is an absolute sensory delight. The aesthetic is beautiful, with warm vintage-y vibes with lots of greens, golds, and reds. The space is intended as a listening space, even the vinyl felt warm and almost comforting. You can tell that there was a lot of intention placed into the experience this little cafe was trying to curate and they totally nailed it. They had Collosus pastries in the case which all looked bomb (for obvious reasons), and a simple menu. There was one person working the counter and being the barista while I was there, but they were friendly and patient despite running the front solo. I got their seasonal brown butter sage cappuccino. After reading a write up in the Long Beach Post regarding this new coffee house, we decided to check it out. Pacific Avenue is part of Long Beach that was first developed in the 1920's. Mature trees line the street. Filled with the remnants of a formerly active business district, this neighborhood is starting to see some revival. Dedo Coffee is a part of the metamorphosis. A delightful patio greets you as you enter the space. Tables are scattered among potted plants and a soothing water feature. Inside is beautifully decorated, with comfortable seating. The other special feature is the HiFi sound system, with a collection of vinyl records, in a wide variety of genres. Now....how about the coffee? Fantastic! Dedo Coffee in Long Beach; a hidden "gem" that unfortunately missed the mark on a couple of things. I, firstly, want to point off that I love supporting small businesses and by all means this review should be taken as constructive criticism. Despite it being a small space, a positive is that their menu is small and focused, the interior was beautifully thoughtful, and the staff was beyond friendly to answer my questions. But truly a place shines through the quality of their drinks, and for their matcha latte it missed the mark. I don't really need to comment much since a photo is attached, but this matcha was just... off? The color was more of a oxidized milky green instead of the bloomed deep green, there was chunks indicating the matcha wasn't properly mixed (and it separated after being left alone), and it tasted like milk; no strong matcha flavor. I will admit, I was skeptical about my own experience so I looked at the small handful of reviews for this place and found that another person shared a similar experience with myself; and I too didn't really finish my drink, despite it coming out to almost 8 dollars. I'm unfortunately not a coffee drinker, so maybe it's my fault that I came to a coffee place for matcha, but I still loved the vibes of the place. Unfortunately, again, they boast hi-fi sound and I would have liked to hear some of that quality through a vinyl record of which they have a set up in the middle of the store. But when I walked in, they were playing Randy Newman around the cafe on their iPad. I perhaps thought maybe they'd constantly play records, but maybe they have it at certain times? Not an audiophile, but would have loved to hear how good the equipment would have sounded for an analog way of listening to music. Such a cool place to visit in Long Beach. We quickly stopped by and were shocked with how cool the interior looked. Not only is it a beautiful coffee shop but also a hi-fi listening space with tons of vintage and modern records alike. They even hold listening sessions sometimes.
