I'm completely impressed with the job they did installing our sprinkler system. The guys were FAST and cleaned everything up very well, unlike some other systems I've had done on other houses. The system itself is easy to use and the water spray that comes out of the sprinklers is actually quite pretty. This "company" was hired to do my neighbors yard. I never hired them and now never will. Their employee drove his truck onto my yard and sunk it down to the axle. Bent sprinkler heads, grass completely torn up, and then left mud tracks over our freshly stained concrete driveway. He assured us they would be back first thing to fix what he destroyed. Now here we are exactly 1 month later, still with missing grass and large holes in my yard. They have canceled 4 times now. Edit: I'll add unprofessional to my review. Now that a worker has finally showed up to fix the damage, the owner calls me to tell me I need to take down my review or he'll sue me. To which I responded with telling his worker to leave my property, and my review stays. This company and its owner are horrible in so many ways and people should know. And now that I have read some of the other reviews on here, it seems I'm not the only one who has experienced Adam's (owner) hot-headed behavior. read more

Eco Irrigation and Landscaping - Work truck sunken into my yard. - Landscaping Near Me - Leander, Texas

We use the NextDoor app frequently to find recommendations for various things (this time we did not look at Google or Yelp, but should have!). In April, after looking at the recommendations for Eco Irrigation, we contracted with Eco to do a landscaping project to pull our yard back together after installing a pool. Many of you have had very positive experiences with Eco based on the recommendations we read. Although I do not doubt all of those experiences were positive, unfortunately, we did not have the same experience. We dealt with the owner, Adam Benefield for the consultation and proposal. When we received the proposal, the scope of the project was vague. We have been caught in the "he said/she said" in the past and we have learned to make sure to clarify, in writing, our expectations. We sent one email asking questions about the proposal and a follow up email outlining our understanding of the scope. Both emails were responded to, by Adam, as being "affirmative" in our understanding. 2 months later, during installation, I noticed that our drain field was only half sodded and the rock pathway that was to be behind the pool was not being installed (instead it was being sodded). I called Adam to let him know and he said he would be out in the morning to take a look. When Adam arrived, he pulled up the proposal and said that he delivered all the sod that was on the proposal and that he could bring in more, but it would cost us extra. Adam also stated that there was nothing about a rock pathway. I responded that I have no idea how many pallets of sod it would take to cover the yard which is why we hired him and that we have emails clarifying that the proposal covered the drain field being sodded, as well as a rock pathway. I asked Adam if he could see how this might come across as a bait and switch. At which point Adam became angry, started screaming at me and saying that we were thieves. Adam escalated from there acting completely unhinged. I won't go into all of the details as it would take too long. I will say Adam was rude, condescending, threatened to sue, amongst other verbal insults. There was no discussion because Adam was too busy screaming and I refuse to get into a screaming match. I have never in my life been spoken to that way by anyone, let alone someone I am paying to do a job. My husband called him about 20 minutes later and Adam hung up on him. That being said, the crew was OUTSTANDING! They worked very hard, were respectful and very polite. The work the crew did was great and we are very pleased. However, if you are going to hire Eco Irrigation, I suggest that you put EVERYTHING in the ACTUAL proposal because that is the ONLY thing Adam will look at, even though we have several emails outlining the scope attached to the emailed proposal. You should also be prepared that if he is questioned, he very likely could explode with anger. Since I don't pay people to scream at and insult me just for holding them to what they have agreed to, in writing, I cannot recommend and would actually recommend NOT using Eco Irrigation. I am sort of baffled by the reviews here. I find them hard to believe. I have used Eco-Irrigation twice at 2 different properties. Each visit was handled professionally, quickly and kindly by Adam. The first time I had about an acre lawn that was damaged by drought I just needed to get ready for selling. Adam gave me several options that had both short term and long term benefits and let me pick what was right for my budget considering of course we were about to sell. His bid was cheaper than 3 other bids and made the most sense for my situation. Other places wanted to do more, but I was moving, so we clearly didn't want to sink more money in it, we just needed curb appeal. The next time we called Adam we did a complete front and backyard over haul. We got fill dirt, sod, sprinkler system, river rock flower beds, and we even made some new pathways with river rock and flag stone. It was a major re-do. Once again I got 2 other quotes. Adam was the lowest quote. And as usual Adam gave me a few options so I could be sure to make my budget happy. When I went to buy plants Adam went with me to make sure I got the right kind and sizes for what I wanted. I had the work done last fall and still love my yard. I've had a few questions here and there due to the harsh winter we've had and some weird things popping up encroaching from the neighbors and Adam is great about answering my questions via email or driving by if needed. We got Adam's number from a friend who got a yard facelift that looked great, so I loved choosing someone that had already done some good work for a friend. read more

Paid this company $4,000 to replace a "lawn" of weeds with Zyosia and install some landscaping. The landscaping looks good. The lawn...there is nothing nice to say about this lawn. The few patches that came in are full of the dallas grass (why we had them remove our old lawn) and other weeds. I emailed the company, included pictures, and never heard from them. When the lawn was installed, several sprinkler heads had been covered/buried and this wasn't noticed until areas began to turn brown. I had another sprinkler company come out to unearth the heads and reposition others. I am so disappointed. Will never recommend them!! read more

I have used Eco for my lawn care for several years and have been pleased with mowing services.However i recently received an e-mail encouraging me to let them do winter weed control for $48.I was glad to let them do this to prevent problems thinking they would treat my entire yard for this price.The tech was here for less than 10 min and only spot treated the weeds which will not prevent weeds from popping up in other areas.If you need weed control of this type just do it yourself for $15-20.In my opinion this was a rip off.I even got an e-mail late the day before service asking me to make sure leaves weren't in the way so I was raking leaves in the dark thinking they were going to treat yard. read more

I regret going with this company. The sale and install were no problem, but the system is just... poor. I was told everything was top of the line and I end up with: - timers don't work so the sprinklers turn on, stay on and flood my neighbors yard - bolt comes loose and water sprays in jets all over my lawn for hours (my water bill was almost triple what it usually is) I have no confidence in my sprinkler system and would not recommend them to anyone. Save your time and money and go with someone else. It's nice to meet your neighbors but not when it's because you're flooding them. I gave two stars because when there are issues, they are generally pretty quick with repairs. read more

Wow, I can't understand how this guy stays in business after the way he treats his customers when things don't go his way. We were given a quote on hooking up our pools auto fill to our irrigation system. Adam came out and said it could be done so we scheduled service and paid the deposit. The guy they sent out said he knows nothing about auto fill only irrigation. I showed him where the two lines were and said one was the auto fill line and the other was a drain. He said one line had water coming out so that must be the drain. Therefore, he hooked up to the other line. Well at the end of everything it did not work and he was asking me what to do. I'm not the expert here so I called Adam who then called the tech. Adam then called me and became very irate and said they fulfilled their obligation and it's not their fault they hooked it up incorrectly, somehow this was either my fault or the pool builders. I wouldn't think that you would take on a job that you don't know how to complete. I basically got to say two words before he told me that he will tell his technician to reverse everything he did and we can hire someone else. He then hung up on me before I could even respond or ask about our deposit. Needless to say I was shocked but not surprised as I have read about similar behavior on other reviews. Very pleased. Dennis came to our home and explained the options carefully and in sufficient detail for us to make a good decision. He scheduled us on the spot for three weeks out because they are busy and we needed HOA approval. In the time between the quote and the install, he promptly answered our questions. They sent over a very nice CAD drawing that made the HOA happy and they showed up bright and early on the day of installation and completed a full sprinkler installation in our big backyard in one day. Very impressed all the way around. Great crew and quality workmanship. These guys did amazing work. Our old sprinkler system was a mess. Zones with heads scattered all over the yard, extremely low pressure, etc. There man Vega came out once to quote. I expected a whole crew to return but it was just Vega. But some how in less than a day and a half he single handedly replaced about 2/3 our heads, Reconnected more than a dozen so the zones made sense and installed several more. We also had compost heap and flower bed with two good size palms that needed to be removed and replace with grass. Again a lone man, Mauricio, showed up and to my amazement he knows it all out in less than a day. It looks great. We will definitely use Eco for future projects. read more

This isn't a complaint against Eco Irrigation but a complaint of a another company owned by the same owner of Eco Irrigation but let me explain what I've found in my research after dealing with these scam artists and let you take it from there. First off, I liked Dennis when he came to do our sale. I thought he was a genuine man and trusted his word. With that I bought a water softener from Eco Water Systems. Now some time ago I had an issue with the warranty. The numbers were changed and all contact info removed from the Internet. As I see from BBB, several others have had the same issue in the past. I also heard from from a different vendor that came to repair my "warrantied" water softener that Eco Water (Dennis) is scamming by selling outstanding "warranties" that no one else is willing to match and then changing names or owners so they wouldn't have to honor the, what we now know as, "outrageous" warranty. Long story short, after hearing that from the other vendor I decided to do more research. I searched everything I could and finally came across Eco Irrigation and decided to look to see who the owner is (since it was a similar name to Eco Water). To my amaze Adam and Dennis Benefield are the owners of this company and I assume to be brothers. So it turns out the other vendor wasn't just talking crap about a competitor. Also while I'm looking at Eco Irrigation's website I notice they offer a 10 year warranty on their systems!! TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!!! I bought a irrigation system from Choate Irrigation because they were the most reputable and they only offered a 1 year warranty at the most!!!!!! How is it that this company can offer a warranty 10x better than one of the leading irrigation companies in the Austin area?? I got stiffed about $5000 on a faulty system that supposedly came with an outstanding warranty by Dennis' high pressure sales pitch and I don't believe anybody else should have to go through the same whether it's a water softener or an irrigation system. SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS AND $ FROM REPAIRING YOUR WARRANTIED SYSTEM AND GO WITH A COMPANY THAT SOUNDS REASONABLE AND HAS A HISTORY TO BACK UP THEIR WARRANTY!! We had Eco Irrigation (who changed their name from Eco just after we signed contract) design and install a rainwater collection system. After they were finished, our downspouts overflowed when it rained. Adam C. Benefield says we gotta expect this when it rains hard. Our downspouts overflow when ever it rains. He spent 6 months making adjustments that did not help. I finally contracted with someone else who distributed the flow from our 11 downspouts into 3 additional pipes where Adams design had one collector pipe. Our experience has been months of disappointing frustation. Don't use Adam C. Benefield. read more

We recently had a sprinkler system in and thank goodness Eco Irrigation was the only company willing to give us a quote and do the work right away. I say thank goodness because I can't believe we could have gotten any better service. They scheduled us for the 27th but called last week and let us know they had a cancellation and knew we wanted it installed ASAP. There were a couple of hiccups as there always is with any service if this type. I believe the gentleman in charge of our installation was Carmello. He not only worked hard and long to complete but they were able to replace the sod rather than leaving us with a checkerboard of dirt and grass. He was very careful to ensure we received the best job as well as the best communication, addressing our concerns and questions. The system is outstanding and we are very pleased with everything from the start with the salesmen to the end in dealing with the office staff. If you have any landscaping needs this is the place to go first. Love these guys. read more

I called them to get a quote. They collected all the details about the house. The estimator Dennis evaluated the lot and came up with a quote and send me an audio tape explaining at length what products he will use and how they will install the system and everything for about 20 minutes and finally told some price that are intentionally higher so that while getting back to him he can offer his best price. When I called him, he did reduce the price a bit. When I was telling him that I didn't need gold package, he forced me to take the gold package by offering silver and gold package the same price. Upon investigation, I found that they use a very unpopular product in their gold package and have vested interest in using that line of product. Since he was adamant and not willing to do silver package any less, I asked him to commit a number station he will use in the system. Upon asking this, he asked me to share the lot map. Once I did, he immediately went back on his commitment and increased the price by $1200 as if he didn't know what he was estimating so far. The truth is he was trying to cut the corner by thinking he can install less number of stations. When I asked him what I get for the money, he was very uncomfortable. This person is very unprofessional and not transparent while providing estimate. I would stay way from this company. read more

We have been using ECO for lawn care for almost a year. Up until the past 10 days, we were very pleased with quality and customer service. In March their Operations Manager Cheryl come out to measure & quote for patching in some St. Augustine. We were given a price and the job was scheduled. The quality of the grass was terrible and job was not completed on installation day due to ECO not having enough grass delivered. In our side yard, it appears at least half of the grass is dead. Cheryl came out the day after installation, took pictures, and said she would be contacting the grass farm. I emailed her 3 days later requesting status and voicing concern about grass quality. Her response via email was "I am reaching out to our supplier about the quality of the turf tomorrow, as I agree with you there". Two days later received email from Cheryl stating "The other installs from the same farm cut the same day look just fine, so it's not indicative of an issue from the farm. I'm going to swing by on Thursday and see if there's any improvement". Pictures were taken on Thursday. Grass still looks half dead. No change from installation 8 days ago. Was told it should be okay. I asked if they were going to replace the section of grass if it didn't make it. Cheryl said they don't guarantee grass but if it died completely, she would give me a "deep discount" to replace as they still had to pay their crew. She said someone would come out to apply fertilizer at no charge. Reluctantly I agreed to this. I have not heard any more about when the fertilization will occur, but I did receive the original invoice plus a second invoice for an additional 50% charge for "additional sod installation". We had assumed that since area was measured by ECO (Cheryl) prior to quote, that "additional sod" was included in original invoice. DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING WITH ECO LANDSCAPING! The grass quality is obviously inferior but our concerns continue to be minimized! I have emailed Cheryl stating I will pay the invoice as soon as ECO remediates the problem. The area should be replaced with grass that is not dead! Am so disappointed in this turn of events. My husband and I recently replaced some grass only to figure out that perhaps it was not the shade, but sprinkler issues that caused the grass to die. We also had several misbehaving sprinklers, one that had been covered in mud and the other that was shooting straight up in the air. After researching on the internet about how to repair it myself and going to Home Depot I decided to call in the professionals. I called several companies and Eco Irrigation seemed to be the most fair priced at $65 hour plus parts. The pieces themselves are really cheap ($2-4 for nozzles/sprinkler heads) at Home Depot so I was not looking to be taken advantage of. I spoke with Lisa in the office and they gave me a two hour window of time. They needed to adjust the time and called me in advance to check if that was ok. I appreciated the professionalism. They gave me a 10am-12pm window and called me in advance and showed up on time. Needless to say I am really pleased with the work they did. Vega came out with Adam and they worked quickly and efficiently. After running through my sprinkler system beforehand myself, I had put down flags to pinpoint the problem sprinklers. Not only did they fix the problem sprinklers, but Adam ran our system and quickly identified and made suggestions to change nozzle heads from lets say 90 degree to 180 degree so it would get better coverage in areas that seemed to be lacking (we had a couple of bare spots on our lawn). He even found another sprinkler buried in the mud that we did not even know about. We had one sprinkler that was spraying onto the sidewalk and he Adam simply adjusted it by hand. I knew that this was the case, but I fear that any other company might have b.s'd. me and tried to say that it needed to be replaced. I appreciated the honesty. Adam and Vega were truly terrific! I would highly recommend Adam and his crew at Eco Irrigation if you are in need of a new irrigation system or a repair (which was my case). Adam called with an ETA the day of my appointment, which was extremely helpful in planning my afternoon. When he arrived, I explained the issue we were having with our system and he immediately got to work. Even though I know there were service calls after me, Adam took time explain how the system had failed and the steps he took to the correct the problem. Our project was to fix a poor landscaping job by the previous owners. The guys came out early removed earth by hand to create a new grade to move water away from our home. They then trenched and installed underground drainage and tied all our gutter downspouts into the system. They finished with river rock and did an amazing. We couldn't be more happy with their work and the price was really good for the amount of work involved. read more
