TLDR: Bait and Switch Pricing, Untrained Movers, and a Completely Different Experience Than the Reviews Suggest. We booked with this company after having a hard time finding any bad reviews. This had to be a good sign right? Wrong. This makes it even more shocking how drastically our experience differed from what others had written. I am not one to typically write reviews, but I am hoping this can be a cautionary tale to anyone thinking of booking with Eco Movers. DON'T BE TEMPTED. We were originally quoted $1,500 for a full pack and move of an 800sq ft one bedroom apartment with 2 3x5 storage spaces that only had miscellaneous boxes and just needed shelves wrapped. This seemed like a great deal, we thought maybe they are just super efficient? To be extra careful, we even called ahead and confirmed our inventory with them, they assured us everything looked good and that the quote would hold. But the moment the movers arrived, they immediately changed the estimate to $2,100, even though nothing had changed. This felt like a scripted tactic, as if the crew was trained to upcharge the moment they arrived. However, by the end of the move, the bill had exploded to $3,700, even though the contract we signed makes it very clear that they are not able to charge more than 125% the non-binding quote given on the day of the move. This is a wild over sight that we should not have to fight for, so am saddened that I am being forced to do so. To make matters worse, the moving team was incredibly slow and inefficient. They spent an absurd amount of time hand-wrapping nearly every single item; including plastic Tupperware lids, which obviously don't require that kind of care. They did not use dish packs in the kitchen, even though we ordered and paid for them. The whole job dragged on way longer than necessary, clearly due to poor training, lack of coordination, and a complete absence of leadership and ownership. While the crew was kind, it was hard to watch these extreme inefficiencies go on. Not to mention that they broke the elevator of our building within the last hour of moving things downstairs. Numerous items have been scratched, and they beat up our hand made wooden steps (there are only two steps) to the front door of our new property by aggressively dragging a hand truck up the two steps. It's hard because it seems as if something higher up than the moving crew themselves are what failed here. The crew that was sent had no idea what they were doing and received no back up or help when they clearly needed it. This company was the opposite of transparent, professional, or efficient. If you're considering them, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This felt like a well-practiced scam hidden behind polished (possibly paid for?) reviews. We learned the hard way that you get what you pay for (or in this case are quoted for) and not to go with the "cheapest" option. read more

Ana in customer service was very capable and communicative. The moving team consisting of Jorge, Nathan and Carlos was fantastic! I needed furniture to be moved upstairs and downstairs due to an ongoing remodel. They took care of the furniture (wrapping and padding) as though it were going to be moved cross-country! Great communication, great guys that were extremely nice, professional and on time. Lost a star for the inflated travel time that is charged to get there and back to the facility. Make sure to ask about all that. The facility is 20 miles or less away and I got charged 1.5 hours travel time. Doubled my bill since the time spent was 1.5 hours unloading. I was caught off guard. When questioned, the man told me they charged 30 minutes "in case there is traffic plus an extra 15 minutes" but no explanation. After injuring ourselves trying to move our furniture, my husband and I realized we weren't as young as we used to be and hired Eco Movers to help us. Ruben and Lucas were phenomenal! They showed up on time, were professional, took care of all of our furniture, and were fast. Total billed time was 2.5 hours, but they only spent 30 minutes loading the truck and then 30 minutes unloading the truck with 1.5 hours of transport for my relatively small move. My only minor issue with the company policies were due to the travel time. When I booked, I was told I would pay for the time they left their office to the time they got back. From their office to my apartment was 10-12 minutes, but that was billed for 30 minutes. Plus another 30 mins to my new place and 30 mins for them to get back to their office. It was just a bit more $ on transport than I figured and I probably would have done better with a flat rate travel fee policy, but the movers did great! Recently hired Eco Movers for a move with short notice - they were extremely friendly, great communication via email and text, easy estimate to review and submit, and good email tips sent throughout the week. On the day of the move, the movers were friendly and thorough in wrapping furniture. They thought the move would be less than the quoted 4 hours but it took more than 4 - so while the final cost was higher, we were happy with the outcome. I really liked that it was easy to schedule the moving services and that the quoted price accurately captured the time it took to move my 1bd apartment. What resulted in the 2 star review is that they significantly damaged dry wall in 2 places in my apartment (see photos) and they broke my vacuum cleaner by dropping part of it and my bed frame (resulting in the need to purchase a new bed frame). They were two nice guys and quick at moving, but this lack of care toward belongings or space is not on par with what I expect from a professional moving company. In addition to moving costs, I could have been required to pay funds out of my security deposit (luckily my landlord was understanding!). Update: they called me to offer solutions to the problem (including repairing the wall for free and filing insurance claims for the damaged items). I had already settled it with my landlord and decided not to waste more time on the issue. read more

I go back and forth between being angry and livid about the aftermath of my move on May 27th, 2022 with Eco Movers. I try my best to be understanding and accommodating because I know moving is a tough job so I am not out to be mean to anyone or demean the work of the crew. However, I cannot stay silent because I am so angry about the crew putting scratches on my brand new $2000 Miele washer which was never opened and is still in its original packaging from the manufacturer. Yes, I understand that it is tough moving a 300 lbs washer up two steep flights of stairs. However, what I do not understand is why a three-person crew was so unprepared. When they loaded the washer onto the dolly, they did not even strap it down with anything. I was so stressed out watching them afraid that they were going to drop it because they did not have a good grip on the washer. They did not have gloves to help them with the gripping. And this was a brand new 2022-built home that they were helping us move items into. They did not take off their shoes or wear any protection. Eco Movers charge for driving from their office to the moving location, which is fine because it is industry standard. I would have been fine with this cost but the outcome was not so great for me. The move itself couldn't have been easier. I only had 6 items to move, a media console, a marble tabletop belonging to a coffee table, an entryway table, one washer, one dryer, and a mattress. Note that all these items were packed by a professional mover from one of my previous moves. Wrapped with a heavy-duty moving blanket and plastic. To add salt to my wound, I have since found what looks like a box cutter scratch on my $1500 West Elm media console from when one of the movers was using a box cutter to cut open the plastic wrapping. This is the second time I have used Eco Movers. The first time was when I moved from a one-bedroom apartment in Queen Anne to a two-bedroom condo in University District. After the move, I found a dent on my wall from the movers who were assembling the bed. I decided to give Eco Movers another chance, but now I am regretting my decision. I have submitted a claim on the damaged items, but I am not really sure how that will solve my issue. I waited three months for that washer to only get in a nonperfect condition due to the movers. read more
