Highly Recommended. We hired EcoHeat to add an AC unit to our existing ducted heating system. It was a tricky install as the existing furnace had to be disconnected and hung sideways in order to accommodate the addition of the AC. We have sort of large crawl space / not quite a basement at our house. Thus the need for this method. I did get quotes from other companies and it was clear to me that EcoHeat was the best fit for us. They met with us and had us over to there shop to show us the various AC units that they had (and the sound levels they generated). This gave us a lot of confidence in our choice. When the install happened the technicians were very cordial, clean and clearly good at what they do. We're very happy with how things turned out. It looks great. Works great. I'm sure glad that I called Ecoheat before going with a another company's proposal to install a gas heater and central air conditioning system in our craftsman-style home. The other company suggested oversized air conditioning and heating units that would have resulted in higher operational costs. Even more concerning, the other company's proposed installation would have caused tremendous problems since it was too close to our property line. Ecoheat's super friendly and knowledgeable owner Thomas took the time to come out to our home to assess our situation and recommend the units that would best meet our needs. He walked me through various options in a clear, non-technical way that helped me make the best choice for our HVAC and budgetary needs. His two-person installation crew led by Jason was first-rate. They arrived on time, took care to do a quality installation, and walked me through how to use our cool new Nest thermostat both on the wall and on my smart phone. I'm so glad that we went with the Nest option that Thomas recommended - it's easy to use and very practical. We've lived in our home for 15 years and finally we have a great heater after putting up with a unit that never ran correctly because it was oversized and poorly installed. We can't wait to put our new AC unit to the test when temperatures climb this summer. Our only regret with Ecoheat is that we didn't call them five years ago. Summary: Honest, prompt, straightforward, and saved me many thousands of dollars. When I asked for a maintenance check up from another heating company, their technician came back with a long list of repair recommendations that would have added up to thousands of dollars. This other company also suggested I consider replacing the furnace within the year. I wanted to get a second opinion, so my friend who's a professional architect recommended contacting Eco Heat because she had worked with them before. The dispatcher at Eco Heat listened to my description of the furnace, and set up an appointment with a technician in a few days. The Eco Heat technician showed up on time, followed good covid safety protocols, wore indoor shoe protectors, asked good questions, did the assessment while I worked upstairs and texted me when he was done. He spent 45 minutes inspecting the furnace. His explanation was clear and straightforward. He found one very minor issue to be re-evaluated again in a couple of years, but otherwise, the checklist looked good and the furnace was functioning well. I rarely take the time to write yelp reviews, maybe once every few years, but I feel like skilled and honest businesses deserve more recognition so others can find out about them. read more

We had our heat pump and furnace system installed a few years ago by a different big name Portland heating/cooling company (they have commercials on TV.) It hadn't work right from the day they installed it. The system was noisy, and it never cooled well. We had the other company out repeatedly, and they would stay for about 10 minutes, tell us nothing was wrong, and then leave. When the summer heated up and our heat pump stopped working well again, we called up Ecoheat. They came out quickly, found the problem, and set up a second time to perform the fix only a few days later. After we had them out, our heat pump is working great. It's cooling the house far better, and it's only running about half the time (can't wait to see the next power bill!) The system seems much quieter now too. They also walked me through exactly what they found and what work they were doing, and about how to best run the system and possible other issues we could improve on our house. This past June, Kevin, one of their maintenance team members, came out to do some maintenance on our Daikon mini-split heat pump unit, and our rental's standard forced air gas heater. Kevin was adept at cleaning both systems, effective as a communicator in both houses, and the company's chargers seemed reasonable given what they did with each system. We've counted on this company in years past to install the systems, and the company's owner remembered us and called us up personally to make this maintenance appointment. Nothing short of phenomenal. 1st Bid - Used Groupon from a different company for a tune-up maintenance. Estimator came out and diagnosed a cracked condenser tray and recommended replacing the entire unit. Because he couldn't perform a tune-up, I couldn't use the Groupon and was charged $99 for a diagnosis. Never heard back from them. I think the job was too complicated. 2nd Bid - Local well-known company. Estimator came out. Didn't even open the a/c or furnace panels. Just gave a rough estimate and was out the door. 3rd Bid - Ecoheat !! YAY. Albert was the estimator and he is amazing. I don't think he could have been any more thorough and he explained things clearly. He inspected every crook and cranny of the furnace/AC/heat pump, inspected outside where the heat pump sits, and inspected the thermostat. Albert had solutions for all the issues that the 1st estimator couldn't come up with. Albert measured every window in the house in order to determine the best size for my home. They came out when scheduled, 10 minutes early, and went to work. The job took all day and they did an absolutely amazing job. The next day, I emailed Thomas a question about the installation and Albert was at my door within an hour! I don't think you can find better customer service. And it was quite clear that the entire team knew what they were doing. They went above and beyond my expectations. Would give 10 stars if I could. read more

Excellent work from a local company. We decided to add central air conditioning to our forced air furnace. I contacted Thomas at EcoHeat, and he stopped by to give us an estimate. From the first he was friendly, knowledgeable, and forthright. We had the bid within a few days -- very reasonable with all charges explained. Within a few more days we were scheduled and the system installed! The installation crew was friendly, fast, quiet, and clean. They were respectful of the house and yard. At the start of the day the team leader explained what they were going to be doing throughout the course of the project. They did have to stop by the day after the installation to make an adjustment on the Nest thermostat, but it was quick and since then, it's worked like a charm.
