We ordered the crab cake- not part of happy hour, but I can't go to Eddie V's without getting it. The crab was definitely jumbo lump, but honestly, I mostly love the remoulade that pairs with it. We also got the mini filet sandwiches, which came with a nicely sweet onion jam. Between that and the sweet brioche buns, the flavors worked really well together. I did scrape off the blue cheese though since it was a little too strong for my taste. If I could give 0 stars or even negative stars, I absolutely would! Yesterday around 5:00 PM, I arrived at Eddie V's with my service dog. It was during happy hour and the restaurant was not busy, there were many empty tables. However, the staff kept me waiting at the entrance for a long time and only told me to "wait," and even asked me if I was celebrating something. I explained that I had originally planned to come here for my birthday, but ended up going to a Rockets game instead, so plan changed. Since we were nearby today, we decided to come over. After waiting for about ten minutes, the host finally took us to a table outside the restaurant, placing us in a bare, uncovered outdoor area. I was so confused why. We requested to sit indoor. When we returned inside, another male staff member approached us, looks like a manager. He did not identify himself and did not ask any questions. He immediately told us that because they have an open kitchen (although we did not see any kitchen from where we stood), service animals are not allowed inside, even if it is a service dog. I was SHOCKED literally. I felt DEEPLY UPSET and disappointed. I did not want the incident to ruin what was supposed to be a pleasant dining experience, and I was also relieved that I did not come here earlier for my birthday! At that moment, I felt extremely uncomfortable -- being confronted by three staff members in such a dim, suffocating, and oppressive environment made me feel like I could barely breathe. I felt so distressed that after saying "No, thank you" to the male staff member, I quickly left the restaurant with my service dog just to calm my breathing. Let me be clear: it wasn't just you refusing a person with a disability -- it was a clear demonstration that you are fundamentally unfit and unworthy to serve the public at all. What happened is a serious violation of ADA regulations, and Eddie V's should feel ashamed. Because this is a really solid option for a special occasion or just a nice night out. --- --- --- I hosted an event for my former employer at the Eddie V's in San Diego back in September of 2022. The venue did a great job hosting the event and all of the food that they brought our group looked absolutely amazing. The only problem was that I ate something earlier in the day that didn't agree with me and I was super nauseous the entire night. I watched glorious plates of cocktail shrimp float around our room and had the cruel misfortune of not being able to eat a single bite of any of it. My contact that I organized the event with was kind enough to send me a gift card so that I could try Eddie V's at a later date. And that gift card sat in my wallet for 51 months. Why the delay? I do live an hour away from Eddie V's. And it would come up as an option for birthday and anniversary dinners, but we just never made it in. So when my Mom and I were talking about meeting up for dinner in Houston, I mentioned it and she was pretty instantly sold. So three paragraphs later, let's talk about that experience: First off, our server was great. Sadly, her name escapes me, but she had curly red hair and glasses. She was very natural and felt more like an old friend than just a server. She also had some great recommendations for us on what to order, so kudos to her! As for the food.... Lobster Tacos: 5-stars. This was the favorite dish for both of us. Perfect tacos. The tortillas were made in house and were some of the best I've ever had. They were also infused with something (is infused the right word when it's not liquid?) They had little green chunks embedded within them - the server told me what it was, but I've already forgotten, sadly. Bottom line: do not come here without ordering these. Crab Cake: 4.5-stars. Excellent all-around and only overshadowed because it was served at the same time as the lobster tacos. Chilean Sea Bass: 4-stars. Delicious and tender. I asked our server how it compared to butter fish and she said it was similar, but less buttery. She provided a very apt description. I enjoyed this, but would opt for something else next time only because it's just north of $50 for 290 calories worth of food, which feels kind of excessive. Crab Fried Rice: 4.5-stars. Lots of crab meat on top, which was excellent. I wouldn't have ordered this if not for our server's recommendation, but it ended up being a good one. Brussels Sprouts: 4-stars. Solid rendition of brussels sprouts, but I would have preferred maybe some loaded mashed potatoes or mac-n-cheese instead. Bananas Foster: 4-stars. Accompanied With Champagne Mignonette, Atomic Horseradish And Housemade Stone Mustard Sauce. It was perfect. MAINE LOBSTER TACOS These had avocado, cilantro, corn pico, a sauce and cotija cheese. Good but not great. Lobster needed more flavor. For the price, I definitely wouldn't order next time. MAINE LOBSTER BISQUE Very good. One of the best I've had in Houston. They use crème fresh instead of heavy cream which added to the flavor. Large chunks of lobster at the bottom. Loved it. Then we moved on to our entrées I had the 18oz Prime bone in New York strip steak cooked medium rare. They cooked it perfectly and it was seasoned well. Definitely a high end steak. Hi All, this review is going to be a bit lengthy because this was an amazing dining experience and I don't want to leave anything out. First, Eddie V's provides exemplary service and food. I have been many times and they never disappoint. Today, I took my mom out for our Thanksgiving Meal (I will go into more detail on that shortly). The minute we came in we heard beautiful live music and we were immediately greeted. We did have reservations and were seated within a couple of minutes. At the table, a server came over to ask us our water preference. When our server Leanne came out she was very friendly and greeted us. Eddie V's servers have the most engaging personalities and she was hands down the best. She asked us what else we would like to drink and brought us the most amazing hot sourdough bread with butter. They sprinkle the butter with Himilayian Sea Salt and chives. My taste buds were all kinds of happy. Leanne then took our order. As I mentioned earlier, we both ordered the Thanksgiving Dinner. The dinner came with the most moist Turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, brioche & sage stuffing (I am not normally a stuffing fan but this was by far the best), butternut squash with rasins, green beans, and cranberry chutney (loved the cinnamon in the chutney). There is a lot of food in that meal, so it is definitely worth getting half boxed up so you have room for dessert. For dessert we tried the pumpkin tart, it was decent, but does not compare to Eddie V's Bananas Foster. When Leanne came and asked me what I thought of it, I gave her my honest opinion and let her know I def prefer the Bananas Foster. She was so kind as to bring me and my mom a mini Bananas Foster. Leanne went above and beyond to make our dinner special and we appreciated our special dining experience. Eddie V's is perfect for a family dinner, girls night, or date night. It pains me to have to write this. Our party of 4 was here Friday night. The waiter was impeccable and the food was delicious. Management however, was extremely lacking. Checking into the hostess stand, we watched a mouse emerge from the kitchen & nonchalantly stroll across the dining room before disappearing into its hidey-hole. I screamed, the hostesses screamed, and a manager tried to chase it into the dining room. The mouse had disappeared The commotion died down, and we were led to our table. Houston Restaurant Weeks Fine Dining $$$$ We also ordered a few things off the regular menu to try. For starters we ordered: gulf oysters, lobster bisque, lobster tacos and steak tartare. Yeah, I know it sounds like a lot but you can't take us out when we are starving! Everything looked and tasted good! The oysters were cleaned correctly so you didn't get that gritty sand in your mouth, which I hate. They took their time to get all the grit out, thank you! The tacos had good chunks of lobster. Their tortilla is made by them, a mix of flour and corn. The tartare was mixed together at table side. It melted in your mouth, meat was so soft. I liked the crostini that came with it to give it that crunch. The bisque was yummy and creamy. Out of all the appetizers, we could have not ordered the tartare but only because I'm more of a seafood person. For entree, we both ordered the sea bass and a side of crab fried rice. I feel this dish was a slight miss. Unexpected a little bigger piece of a fish, but it was cooked perfectly. However, the broth was on the salty side. We used the rice to soak it up hoping that it would cut some of the salt, but that didn't help. Then we had salty broth rice. I think it would be better to use the low sodium soy sauce in this dish to make the broth. I also asked if the crab would be chunky in the rice before we ordered it. The waiter said it was, but this was more like shreds on top of the fried rice. It was not chunky enough for me. The sides are served family style and we split it. My dessert was phenomenal. I absolutely loved that banana foster butter cake. You can taste the alcohol when they poured the flambé over the cake and it soaked it all up. It was divine with the ice cream! Hubby had the chocolate cake, which was very rich but dense. Also served with ice cream and berries. We ordered a bottle of Dr Hermann Riesling (from Germany) to have with dinner. Which house a Friday night to go to the restaurant as we wanted to try their Golden Nights, lobster and wine event. For the low low price of $38 you get a glass of wine and you can choose from a heated or chilled lobster roll with a side of fries. I chose the Angel rosé with the heated lobster roll. This ensemble did not disappoint. We also had the lobster bisque and the lump crabcake. The crabcake is one of the best crabcakes I've ever tried and they are not skimpy at all. The lobster bisque was mediocre. I've had better, but it was still good. The ambience was really nice. We sat in the area where they had live music going and our waitress. Kayla was amazing! We always come here to celebrate my dad's birthday every year. Last year we had Michelle as our waitress who was wonderful so I requested her again this year and she was amazing per usual. I love that they brought out three tiers with different plates of dessert on each level that all had happy birthday with my dad's name written on each plate. Of course Michelle comped these and gave them to us on the house. This was a first for us to get this type of birthday dessert we usually just get the banana foster and all were delicious! Drinks were good we had lemon drops with tequila, the private plane and 24 carat drinks. Calamari and crabcakes were good for our appetizers. For our entrées, we had ribeyes and salmon. I will say that two of the ribeyes were not as flavorful and seasoned as they usually are so we did have to request salt, which was a first for us. I'm not sure what happened with those particular entrées but we loved our sides of truffle, Mac, au gratin, potatoes, brussels sprouts, and crab fried rice. This it still one of our family's favorite steakhouses to go to celebrate special occasions. We were a table of 4 and ordered a little bit of everything for a fancy night out. The wedge salad and Caesar were both great starters but the lobster tacos stole the appetizer show! Overall, not bad. I visited for dinner on a weekday. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, there is a garage nearby however there is valet parking as well. You might get luck and find some service parking on the street on one of the nearby parking lots. There is a bar which had some activity on a Tuesday night. The entry was pleasant I was greeted quickly. There were 6 in our party, and it appears that everyone had a good time, and the food came out as ordered. The waiter was good and friendly. The table was a bit tight for 6, it was a booth, i think ww should have been seated at a table. Nonetheless we made it work. Overall, I give it a thumbs up the food was good the service was also good, and I did not pay the bill however, I'm sure it was expensive. As far as for eye candy. First time in an Eddie V's for a private event. Some really good highlights. The place is very nice. Service was top notch. In a private dining room, so separated from the rest of the restaurant, but the place was definitely hopping when we left (Wednesday evening). Started with a Woodford old fashioned (see pic), which was pretty standard. I liked the large square cube over the way some places do this, as it does not overly water down the drink. Appetizers were Steak Tataki, which is a Japanese seared steak, and the Kung Pao Calamari. Both were great, but I was really impressed with the Kung Pao Calamari, as calamari is one of those foods that has a very short window for an ideal cook where it is super tender. Too little or too much makes it end up tough and rubbery. This was followed by a Caesar salad, which had think slices of Grana Padano cheese (a rival for Parmigiano-Reggiano). I would have loved to try the lobster bisque, but unfortunately have developed an allergy to shellfish (smelled fabulous, but not good enough to commit suicide by food). For the main, I chose the filet (other options were steamed sea bass, a bone in strip, or chicken, which I would not order at a steakhouse). The sides were the truffle mac & cheese (the best of the three), au gratin potatoes (very creamy cheese, so on point), and the grilled asparagus. The asparagus was a little soft for my liking, but the lemon and sea salt gave it a really nice flavor. Dessert was a Hot Chocolate Godiva Cake, which was excellent. Essentially a lava cake with high end chocolate. Yes, this is a chain, so you can try it in other locations. Seeing reviews throughout the country, it is consistent no matter where you go. I will consider another run at some point, but there are a lot of local steak and seafood places around the country vying for my time. read more

Superb dining experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal last night at Eddie V's. The restaurant is elegant with white table clothes. The bar area has a small corner stage for live music. The oval shaped seating area is large with a TV for viewing sports (go Astros!). In addition to the actual bar top area, there are several tables and booths available. We were well taken care of by Rudy and Omar. The happy hour prices are decent. We enjoyed a glass of wine with our complimentary bread and butter while looking over the menu. The bread was very fresh and piping hot. Rudy made several recommendations for our meal. We finally settled on the tempura shrimp, jumbo crab cake and a dozen oysters. The service, taste and presentation were impeccable. The tempura shrimp come 5 to an order. They arrive on a little skewer stand with lollipop sticks. They had a terrific light crunch and were the perfect bite size starter. The crab cake is a nice size with a delicious spicy chive remoulade. It is a perfect item to share. We finished with 6 of the Gulf Coast oysters and 6 of the parmesan and panko crumb oysters. Both were delicious and fresh. As we enjoyed another glass of wine, I noticed the cocktails they were making across the bar for another guest were quite fancy. I enquired about the drink, so Omar made one for me. It was a smoked Old Fashioned made with a large cube of ice, Basil Hayden's Bourbon, chocolate bitters, an orange twist, a cherry and served on a smoked plank tableside. I was very impressed with the way it was made and how tasty it was too. We finished our meal with a delicious sharable dessert. In the middle was a cube of Bananas Foster butter cake flambéed tableside. On one side was butter pecan ice cream and on the other, a warm Belgian chocolate cake. Once again, the presentation was fantastic. We enjoyed our full stomachs and sipping our last bit of drinks while listening to the live music. They were wonderful! They played toe tapping tunes you can sing along to. You could hear them throughout the restaurant, even in the main dining area, though it wasn't too loud sitting in the bar. The evening was perfect and we will definitely be back. I recommend this restaurant if you want a full experience, not just a meal. Thanks for the wonderful night, EV's. So, I'm late getting this post out. On Valentines, I was traveling back from a business trip to Houston and called a few restaurants to make a last minute reservation. The three I called, I will not mention their names but, what's important is that they were no able to accommodate my last minute reservation. How ever, the fourth one I called was Eddie V's. I spoke with Anna the mgr by phone as I was traveling home from the airport. I explain my situation to Anna and informed her of the other restaurants not being abroad to accommodate me with a table inside. Anna, was able to accommodate my request and was gracious enough to give my wife directions to the restaurant as this was our first visit. Once, we arrived we were greeted and had a short wait before our table was ready. The ambiance was very warm and inviting, each person we encountered acknowledged us and we loved the open kitchen concept. As we walked by the kitchen to our table, we could here the communication in the kitchen as, the front of the house was interactive with the back of the house. Once we were seated, we were greeted by Devin P., who was patient with us as we reviewed the menu. Devin P. channeled his energy to our questions and was able to share suggestions for our protein of choice which was Salmon. This was inclusive of which sauce to pair with Salmon and recommendations for additional sides that did not accompany our meal. We selected Salmon with a honey mustard glaze, rainbow carrots, and spinach, with truffle mac and cheese. Once, our order was placed, Devin was courteous enough to hold a conversation with us and even took pictures for us. As we waited, Anna the mgr who took our reservation stopped by to check on us and shortly after, our meal was being served to us. The cook on the Salmon was to perfection, all sides accompanied to the protein as suggested by Devin P. Needless to say this visit was well received and I would highly recommend Eddie V's for you to try and your are seeking the prime best in a restaurant venue. We very impressed and will not hesitate to dine again at Eddie V's. Had the pleasure of dining in when the "Restaurant Week" menu was still available. I figured why not try the four course meal for around $50ish dollars. We also ordered the jumbo lump crab cake for an additional appetizer. This was one of my favorites, and they didn't lie when they said jumbo. It was huge! The remoulade was a nice pair. I had crab cakes the day before from another upscale restaurant, and they couldn't compare! For my entree I ordered a 8oz center cut filet mignon, prepared medium. The fine piece of meat cut like butter! The steak was paired with truffle mashed potatoes, which I did not enjoy. I'm not really a fan of truffle, but there were no substitutions with this menu. Lastly, I chose the banana foster butter cake. Yum yum yum! From the presentation to the butter pecan ice cream, this was my absolute favorite. I could have ate the plate. Overall, my top three favorites were the crab cake, filet mignon, and banana foster butter cake. Please give at least one a try! The other entrees weren't bad, just not favorites. This was my third time coming here and I was just a tad underwhelmed with the majority of my dishes this go round. My favorite portion of my mesh was definitely the mashed potatoes. That was cooked with excellence. I usually always only like upscale restaurant's brussel sprouts, but this one was a total miss. They tasted bitter to me. Lastly, my bone in was okay. It wasn't as succulent as I preferred, however, that could have been my mistake as I usually order medium but got medium well by accident this time. My friend, however, had no complaints with her meal. She felt everything was to her liking. Our waiter wasn't as attentive as I am use to but that is no biggie. read more

Super super late post... but I had to tell the story. So when I arrived, I went to the reception desk and I gave them the name of my party and they said your party has checked in and I can show you to the table. I am Asian and the party I was meeting was not Asian. When the hostess ushered me to the table, I looked up and to my surprise I saw a bunch of Asian faces. I apologized and quickly turned to make a quick exit. I went back to the reception desk and told her that was not my party. She repeated the name of my party and I confirmed it. It took a few moments for her to realize the party I was meeting was at the bar waiting for a table. I am not mad about it... it was a little embarrassing and my friends got a good laugh. The table service was really good. The wait person answered all my questions and was very accommodating. The bread so good. I ordered the Prime Steak Tataki (so tender and flavorful) , Kung Pao Calamari (crispy with a little kick) and Crab Fried Rice (yummy!). read more

Sadly, I have tried to order gift cards for my kids anniversary, but Eddie V's accepts the payment, charges the card and the rejects it for security reason on different cards. Poor only services!!!! read more
