Bruschetta 8.85/10- they gave us this to try at the beginning. The tomatoes were super fresh and perfectly balanced with balsamic. The bread had that perfect crunch while still being soft inside. 22 oz Ribeye 9.82/10- this steak was absolute perfection! It was charred perfectly on the outside while staying perfectly medium rare inside. The marbling was insane which made every bite so tender and melt in your mouth. I loved how flavorful the meat was. Lobster Mashed Potatoes 9.63/10- these were incredible! They don't skimp on the lobster - big chunks throughout that were super tender and sweet. The potatoes were so creamy with the perfect consistency. Buttery without being too heavy. Truffle Mac and Cheese 9.16/10- the truffle flavor was perfectly balanced - present but not overpowering. The cheese sauce was rich and creamy, and the pasta was cooked al dente. Loved the crispy topping! Crab Fried Rice 9.78/10- this dish was amazing! High quality rice with perfect texture and these crispy bits throughout. The crab was so fresh and they were generous with it. I loved how the subtle seasoning enhanced the crab flavor. Crab Cake 8.87/10- has jumbo lump pieces of crab and I loved the sauce served with it as it added creamy flavor. Hardly any filler - just tons of sweet crab meat with minimal binder and perfectly golden outside. Godiva Chocolate Lava Cake 9.65/10- this was so decadent with a perfectly baked exterior and an amazing molten chocolate center that flows out. The Godiva chocolate made it taste so much richer than regular desserts. Banana Foster Cake 9.72/10- comes with pecan ice cream and they flambé it in cognac right at the table! The warm bananas and caramel paired perfectly with the cold ice cream. The pecan flavor added amazing nuttiness. They always decorate our table for special occasions which is such a nice touch. Great time with a group of 10 of us, enjoying our last meal here before they close their doors and move out of this location. Drinks are also fabulous, and the martini's are always a "hot" item. Dani took care of all of us, and was terrific, all the food came out quickly, and we will truly miss Eddie V's in Newport Beach. Took my mom to Eddie V's for dinner. It was the first time for the both of us. The waitress was super attentive and was intentional in making sure our first time was memorable. We both ordered the special of the day which was a 10oz filet and shrimp scampi and asparagus. It was cooked perfectly but next time I think I would ask for the food to remain separate on this dish as the flavors seem to blend in more than I would have like. I also ordered one of their signature spirits, a smoked old fashioned. Also, perfectly prepared. Where I felt that our waitress went above and beyond was the various complimentary servings throughout our meal. She brought out a fried ahi sample went we first sat down, she then gave us a half portion of the roasted Brussels sprouts. To conclude, she brought out Godiva chocolate cookies. We ordered caviar (not pictured), a half dozen oysters, the sea bass, crab fried rice, the filet mignon with lobster, and a butter cake dessert. My husband had an old fashioned and I enjoyed a Cadillac margarita and we each had a glass of wine. Our favorites were the crab fried rice as recommended by our server Lexi. She also made the cocktails and provided recommendations on wines to our preferences in taste. Great meal and very spacious restaurant. It was cozy and intimate for such a big restaurant. Celebrating my parents' anniversary, we've decided to give Eddie V's a try as recommended by bro in law. I had no expectation when it came to American's style seafood house, so I went with the flow. The place was pretty intimate, but casual for date nights. They even had rose petals and a cute anniversary card on the table. Shoutout to our server, Brian. He was super friendly, super helpful, super knowledgable, super everything, a highlight of our dining experience. We got ourselves quite a feast with Seafood tower, some cooked seafood items, sides, and hearty desserts. Their oyster selections were good and plump, Ahi Tuna Tatare was surprisingly good as well. They utilized Asian flavors really well in most seafood items. Bone-in Ribeye was also tender, cooked to perfect doneness, and perfectly seasoned. But the real highlight of the meal was the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. They didn't skip on the jumbo, lumpy pieces of crab, really flavorful as well. It was so dang good we had to order twice (I'm thinking about it, drooling). Dessert items were quite hearty and delicious as well. As expected at an American's dining, dessert items were really sweet and bold, which was not a complaint at all. First time trying butter cake, my personal favorite American dessert so far. It's located in a loathe shopping center so parking is easy to find they also have valet but I don't think it's necessary. The service is so friendly ! They treat you like royalty . I took my girlfriend there for her birthday and it was a perfect choice . The thing that makes Eddie V's stand out from other locations that sell steak or steak houses in general they cut there meat right there on the spot. Flavors were on point but it wasnt very tender and I've had better for half the price * Crab Fried Rice - This was a huge miss. Overly buttery, over-seasoned and unnecessarily heavy. Should be light and fluffy. The fried rice needs better technique. This dish should be scrapped or hire a Chinese restaurant cook to do it right. * Grilled Asparagus - Overcooked, pencil thin * Comp bread - Hard as rocks, needs to be toasted and softer or why even bother serving * Price - definitely on the higher end, would expect better execution on all dishes for the price Overall I would rate this place 3.5 stars. I don't like buffets as a general rule. So when my sister told me she would be out of town for. mother's day, a week before, I knew reservations would be an issue. They were. It's a busy restaurant day anyway. But tons of normal restaurants go buffet on this day. I'd never been here before and heard from a friend he liked it. So this is a chain restaurant. We were a few minutes early for the reservation and it was busy. We had to wait at the bar for about 30 minutes, which was quite a while. However, we both had a bloody mary and it was one of the best ones i've ever had. Really great. We eventually got to our little 2 person booth. The restaurant is laid out pretty well. They had a great deal of seating and an open style kitchen. The space is dark. It would be awesome if it was in a view spot; it's not. It's right off the freeway. But it's a nice place. The service was good. I liked our waiter. He was engaging and checked with us multiple times. There was a timing misstep with the appetizers, but it wasn't a big deal. The appetizers also were served separately, which was not our intention. But it ended up being nice sharing each other's app. My scallop dish and mom's sea bass were both lovely. Every dish was quite good. I ordered a very nice dry French white wine that we both enjoyed too. So the food was excellent, as was the wine. The servers exuded professionalism. We came here to celebrate our 2nd wedding annniversary, had shown up early in the evening without a reservation, and got taken care of and seated right away by a very nice and courteous hostess. I had dined at Eddie V's in Houston before, but this was our first time here so we had an expectation of the same very high standard of food quality and service in an upscale classy casual restaurant.....and this place totally hit it right out of the park! Hmmmm, so where should I begin then? Lets start with the good and then finish off with the outstanding. The food.....We started off with the Eddie V's Signature Jumbo Lump Crab Cake....which comes with a creamy housemade remoulade sauce, my wife ordered her all time favorite Prime Bone-In Ribeye Steak (cooked medium) with a side of Grilled Asparagus......sides ordered separately, and I ordered one of their featured specials, the Broiled Chilean Seabass with an added 1/2 lb of King Crab Legs. Everything we ordered was extremely fresh, perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and incredibly delicious! However, the highlight for the evening was not just the food, but the service. The service....We were amazingly well taken care of by our server for the evening, Ariana. She is such incredibly delightful, friendly, caring, attentive, and professional young lady...and she took exceedingly great care of us throughout our entire dinner. In fact, after having learned that this was our anniversary dinner celebration, she went out of her way to arrange a cute trio of desserts, flambéed at our table, and at the end of the entire dinner, she presented my wife with a gorgeous stemmed rose and cigar for me....though I don't smoke. Wow! Ariana's fantastic service, wonderful, kind, and thoughtful gestures, and all round very pleasant personality totally WoW'd my wife and I as we had never ever been treated so incredibly well at any of the thousands of restaurants we have dined at! The food, the service, and the ambiance of this Eddie V's went way way WAY over and beyond our expectations, and left us with such a happy, special, and memorable evening to take away with us. I should also give thanks to all the supporting staff and manager who also made everything go so smoothly...everyone was so helpful and professional...especially the very nice manager who offered us a yummy bite sized teaser appy tempura ahi (or mahi?) tuna cube on a bed of creamy aioli....yummy.....may we have more? :) This Eddie V's is now, by far, one of our absolute favorite dining spots for special occassions, and we can't wait for our next special occassion to visit them again. read more

The food and service here is spectacular!! I absolutely loved every single dish I got here. When you first sit down, they bring you drinks and complimentary bread and butter. From there, they will bring you all your appetizers you order. I really enjoyed the happy hour oysters. They were SO fresh and I loved how juicy they were. Our server, went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience--his attentiveness and willingness to make everything perfect truly stood out. I don't even want to share all the things in case people try to take advantage. The food was just as impressive. The steak was cooked exactly the way we wanted, and the lamb chops were incredibly tender with no gamey taste at all. Every Valentine's Day my hubby takes me to a different steak house but this year we wanted seafood! A friend recommended Eddie V's & it was so worth it! Absolutely Disappointing - A Complete Letdown from a Restaurant I Used to Love I've been coming to this restaurant for years and have always had a good experience--usually in the evenings. In fact, I was just here last week and had a lovely dinner, which is why I was so shocked and disappointed by how things unfolded during this visit. We arrived at 4:00 PM, and despite the restaurant being almost empty--only one other table was seated--it took more than 10 minutes for a server to even acknowledge us. No greeting, no water, no check-in. We just sat there, wondering if we had somehow become invisible. It felt like we were an afterthought the moment we sat down. When our server finally came over, there was no warmth or friendliness--just a rushed demeanor, as if we were bothering her. We placed a simple order that included oysters (which require minimal prep), yet our food didn't arrive until 40 minutes later. Even worse, we watched as two other tables who arrived after us--5 to 10 minutes later--received their meals before us. And with an open kitchen, we could clearly see that things weren't even moving back there. No urgency. No sense of workflow. It was like everyone was just standing around while we sat there growing more and more frustrated. When we asked politely about the rest of our order, the server responded with a mocking, sarcastic tone--as if we were being unreasonable for wondering where our food was. It was honestly insulting and completely unprofessional. The final straw was when we asked to see the dinner menu (something we often do because we usually like to order more), and she responded with a snide, sarcastic remark that made us feel completely unwelcome. By then, we'd had enough. We asked for the check and left--hungry and completely disheartened. We ended up finishing our meal at Wasa next door, where the staff treated us with kindness and basic decency. It wasn't the same food, but the experience was miles better. Looking back, we should have just gone to Fleming's, which is only a couple blocks away and has never let us down. I never thought I'd say this about a place I used to recommend to friends and family, but after today's experience, I'm honestly not sure if I'll be coming back. It was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time--not because of the food, but because of how we were made to feel: ignored, disrespected, and unwelcome. I was served a raw piece of salmon and gaslit by the waiter that it was "medium rare". You could clearly see that the salmon was completely raw in the middle and inedible after I took a bite. The waiter then took the salmon and placed it on the grill instead of bringing me a new one ( I hate when restaurants do this) and it seems very unsanitary. I lost my appetite after they brought back the salmon I had already taken a bite of and just opted to eat the truffle mac, which was pretty good. On top of that I was served burnt bread. Decided to make a reservation at Eddie V's for our anniversary and easily secured a seat just days before by reserving online. The restaurant itself was beautiful and really gave us the fine-dining vibe we were looking for. Service was truly amazing! They decorated our table with rose petals and even hand-wrote us a cute little card to take home. Our waiter was also fantastic and gave lots of recommendations, and checked in frequently. As for the food, I feel that although everything was good, nothing quite stood out to me and you could probably get better for cheaper elsewhere. - Entrees: - Branzino - Morel-Crusted Lambchops Branzino was flaky and seasoned well however I wasnt a huge fan of the lamb. - Appetizers -Jumbo Crabcake - Truffle Mac and Cheese - Broccolini The crabcake was one of the best I've ever had but still seemed a little too deep fried for my liking.I also tend to prefer my mac and cheese more crusty and this one was quite creamy. Broccolini was ok, but nothing too special. The bananas foster was actually super yummy and one of my favorite things that night! Amazing amazing amazing experience is all I can say!!! From the customer service to the food to the ambiance everything was impeccable. I am a tough person when it comes to restaurants so even my wife was surprised when I said 5 stars. Our waiter Christopher P. was excellent and attentive. We started with the crab cakes which were great and that remoulade sauce was creamy and full of flavor to go with the crab cakes. House sourdough bread was great. My wife got The Golden Hour drink which was perfect balance of sweet with alcohol and had a natural creaminess to it. For our main we got the lamb chops with the best chimichurri sauce, and the ribeye!!! Steak was cooked perfectly. Also go a half order side of the truffle Mac and cheese and you can definitely taste the truffle but had great creaminess to it as well. To end off they blessed us with a small banana fosters butter cake dessert....again it was divine!!! This was the worst Eddie V's experience/location we've ever had and been to. The food was fine, (not great) so I'll give one star for the potatoes. The ambience seems confused in its concept, at this location which didn't make for a very cozy spot to eat. The worst part was the service. We sat and ate for 2.5 hours on my partners birthday, and didn't see our waitress for a full hour. The busers took our food and we sat at the empty table for 30 minutes. We saw two managers walking around, and not one time did they check on us during our meal. When we finally waved down another waiter to ask for our check, our waitress came back to our table, saying she would have come to check on us, but "we ate too fast" legitimately blaming us for her not coming by quicker?? So rude and unprofessional. (Again pointing out being there for 2.5 hours) Sorely disappointed as we were there celebrating a birthday, and excited to share Eddie V's with our friends. The waitress didn't offer any solution for our excessive waiting on her, and we still left spending hundreds of dollars for a terrible experience. We won't be eating at this location, again. I can't believe we hadn't tried this place sooner in the 8 years we've lived in Irvine! We were going out for a special date, and were looking forward to a nice dinner. The service stood out immediately: everyone embodied the epitome of professionalism and were exceptionally personable. Both our server and the sommelier took their time explaining food and wine options, and didn't pressure us into anything. It was a very relaxing atmosphere and we had an excellent experience. The amuse bouche were a great touch to start off the meal, and the oysters were fresh and exactly as described on the menu. We had what seemed to us to be the best crab cake we've ever had: it was in excess of 90% crab meat, nice meaty chunks, and only the top was panko crusted- that was a phenomenal appetizer. We split the two south African lobster tails with drawn butter- and all together, that was a filling meal. For once, we had room for dessert: it was a tough choice, but we went with the meyer lemon tarte and did not regret it! We came here tonight to celebrate our six month anniversary. We are always looking for a reason to have a good meal. We ordered shrimp cocktail, warm goat cheese salad, Caesar salad, New York steak, the halibut special, and three separate desserts. We are stuffed! Brian was our waiter and he went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The support staff were also very attentive. This is hands down, one of the best meals I have had this decade. We joined a group for a special occasion. Eddie V's was exceptional! Our server was incredible, fun, informative and super attentive. The food was incredible. My salmon was some of the best I've had. Hands down, still one of the best steaks we've ever had anywhere. Hoping their affiliation with the Chris chain carries over after they wind down operations. We need good steak and fine dining.
