There are so many cute little restaurants in Aubern and we were lucky enough to land here. This place is cafe all the way... lots of good home cooking. Alright. Just came back from Auburn. CA. Got up their an hour before my appointment with Steven at Shoe Fix and Pedorthic Care. So what to do. Well I was hungry and two or three stores down was Edelweiss Restaurant. They specialize in omelettes. I will say you will get a plate full from what I was seeing at other customers plates. It was early afternoon and I wasn't interested in breakfast and the entire menu looked great. I like a good chili burger so I decided to go with that and an ice tea this visit. I will say watch out. Order an ice tea and you get handed a quart size mason jar loaded with ice and tea and a quarter of a lemon sectioned over the lip of the jar. I loved it. Started reminding me of my southern grandmother. The hamburger was nothing fancy. Good quality beef served on a French roll. They were out of hamburger buns today. Chili was mounded over the burger spilling over the rest of the plate and a nice helping of onion over that and a small bowl of potato salad barely sitting on the plate. The salad was good. Nothing special and nothing fancy attempted. The chili though was great. Plenty of flavor. Enough that I asked if it was possible to purchase a container to take home. Which they did oblige me with. The waitress/hostess was very friendly. I recommend she teach lessons to the youngsters out their starting in the business. They could learn a lot from her. There appeared to be a few regulars in their chatting politics. Over my travels over this state and several others I have always found that the best places to eat at are these small what some might consider whole in the walls. From the front you could pass by them in 10 steps. But if you are in Auburn I can say they are worth a stop to eat. Better then any coffee shop along the highway. I can assure you that after my visit today when I am back in Auburn to have work done on my shoes I will be stopping by again. Many kudos and thanks for a good meal Edelweiss. read more

I love this place. I have two children and they love the waitresses here. The prices are great for the amount of food you receive. Great little local place, but I must admit, even though the waitresses will treat you just an nicely as they do the daily customer, an out-of-towner may feel a little out of place. read more

Give me 1/2 #4 Hash/English ...and don't forget the special strawberry jam! Small town good food, anytime I have friends in from out of town this is where I take them. Very friendly, nice staff, although they forgot my beverage a couple of times and an order for another table. They use American cheese in their omelettes. Everything inside looks like it's from 1985 and the average age in there is about 50. It's not bad, but a bit pricey for what it is and I don't understand why it's so highly rated. read more

Yep, their omelets are super, alright. I'm not a big omelet fan so I got the buckwheat pancakes which were awesome. Hubby got the Big Boy (haha!) omelet which was basically lots o' meat & cheese. He almost couldn't finish it. The coffee was surprisingly not too bad for a little coffee shop & I'm pretty picky when it comes to coffee. My husband and I came here to try it out and where very pleased, so brought parents with us on our next visit to area. Great diner food without all the extra grease. We've been here 3 times now. In the last month and awesome every time. Great friendly service and prompt. Home made jelly that is very tasty we've had a different flavor every time all are good. All this at a reasonable price. We stop in here once a year on our way back from our annual ski trip in Truckee. The omelets are to die for but huge - 4 eggs--so I suggest splitting a plate. My husband ordered the eggs benedict - eggs poached perfectly and I ordered the house special omelet with bacon, shrooms, onions, avocado and cheese. Excellent! Both came with either home style potatos (ehhhh :( ) or hash browns (yum) + choice of toast. Coffee is good. Daughter had ham and cheese omelet and loved it - it was the first time she's tried an omelet and this chickie is 21 years old! We will continue to come to this place. Worst food poisoning I've ever had! I went in for lunch on 12/08/17. I ordered the Reuben on marbled rye with french fries. While the fries were good I thought the meat in the sandwich seemed a little funny. I should have sent it back because I became violently ill within a few hours, full on food poisoning. I called them the next day to advise them the meat was bad. The person answering the phone seemed concerned but said it was too busy and someone would call me back. That seemed odd to me. If I served somebody bad food I'd want to know immediately, investigate and pull it off the menu, before it impacted someone else. They never did call back as promised. I'll never eat there again and I'll be calling the health department too. read more

This place is awesome; look like a hole in the wall but the waiters are friendly and hustle. The food is great and the portions are HUGE. I am a big guy, and I could not finish the omelet breakfast. Went in for lunch one day had the chiliburger was fabulous again could not finish. I am a food critic I love food with a taste not something bland like I was in a nursing home, and this place has substance in there food. I live about 20 miles from this place and will drive out of my way because the food is awesome and the staff is awesome. You will not get the portions for the money anywhere else. My husband and I go to Edelweiss from Granite Bay EVERY weekend. 28 miles round trip. I think about 3 years or more now. Theeeee best food and service for MANY MILES around. The staff ALWAYS makes us feel like family. They are soooo nice and soooo funny. Most everyone knows everyone else. You can sit wherever you like and the "Auburn Table" as I like to call it is where most of the locals sit. You can dish it out to Nancy, and with her terrific personality, she laughs, has alot of fun, and dishes it right back. Edelweiss is the place to go and is lots of fun. You will NEVER leave there hungry. read more

Thank god Awful Annie's was so busy, because I just ate the best omelet of my life here. They use thick bacon, amazing ham, and plenty of cheese. The strawberry waffle was perfect. When I go for breakfast somewhere this is what I expect! Good-sized portions, flavorful food, and first class service! Probably waited too long since I went to write this review because we do not remember what we had other than it was omelettes with great country potatoes, with biscuits and gravy, my wife had pancakes and everything tasted outstanding. While Auburn is not so far away from us (we live in Rocklin), and there appear to be other excellent dining options in Auburn, this is now our adopted place to eat breakfast, regardless of what time of day it is. read more
