My husband and I stayed at Eden Vale Inn for the weekend of our September wedding. David & Karen were very gracious hosts! We greatly enjoyed the hospitality here and the romantic setting. We stayed in the Grey Pine room and enjoyed all of the amenities it offered. The breakfast was very delicious! They even accommodated an earlier meal for me on my wedding day since I needed to go to my salon early. The pond was a beautiful place to enjoy before driving home as newlyweds. My wife and I were originally supposed to be married at Eden Vale back in December of 2020, but had to request a date change because of a spike in Covid cases and state mandates restricting non essential travel. The Inn accommodated our request and we booked a new date for June 2021. They sent us an email conformation for the new date. About a month before the new big day, we reached out to check in and ask about adding an additional guest. To our horror, we were told that unfortunately our new date had been double booked and we could not have our wedding there. Someone had failed to enter our date change into their computer. They asked if we could get married the day before or the day after, as if we hadn't made dozens of other arrangements centered around this date - as if we didn't have guests traveling from out of state with flights and hotels all centered around this date. They acted like they were cancelling a dinner reservation, and not someone's wedding. They were unapologetic and try to blame us for rescheduling back in December, which they "rarely allow" as the proprietor David proclaimed. If it wasn't allowed, they should have denied our request back in December and not brought it up again. Mistakes happen, but the fact that there was no acceptance of blame, and they tried to blame us (the victims) is unacceptable. Clearly, whichever wedding party was double booked on our date would have happened AFTER our date was booked, and must have been a more lucrative contract for them to choose to cancel on us even though we booked first. By some miracle we were able to find a new venue, but our guests had to completely change their hotel arrangements and it cost thousands of dollars collectively under such short notice, and it caused tremendous stress. If you're considering having your wedding at this venue, please beware and reconsider. read more

HEAVEN ON EARTH! This place is amazing, it's so relaxing and romantic! Perfect couple retreat! The hot tub outside was our favorite part of this whole experience! And the breakfast was fantastic, the pastries are AMAZING! You can actually go out for a little boat ride, we had a lot of fun! There's plenty of hikes in the area and also apple hill, which is 25 mins away and filled with like a hundred apple orchards and wineries! I will be recommending this place to my family and friends!! We loved staying here but, FYI: it's not handicap accessible. If you're in a wheel chair, forget it. We felt a weirdness when we got there. I was like ... oh yeah .. probably because we are a LGBT couple. So uncomfortable but it was very obvious that not many queer couples come here. read more

My husband and I have been very fortunate enough to stay at the Eden Vale Inn 3 times now, with each visit in a different room. The inn is our favorite winter getaway, where we can either end and/or start the new year with pure relaxation. The property is so beautiful around this time of year. After booking a room, the innkeepers keep an open communication through email and text. I love this because it really does help our stay go smoothly. Our most recent trip we stayed in the cozy and luxurious Gray Pine room. We had a 90 minute couples massage shortly after checkin, which my husband and I think should be a must during anyone's stay. I'm a very anxious person who worries and stresses a lot. But with all that Eden Vale has to offer, it magically keeps all those negative thoughts away. To have a warm fireplace on in your room while listening to the rain outside your window = the BEST sleep ever. And we had a delicious breakfast, where we chose to eat just outside our room to also have a peaceful view of the surrounding nature. During our stay we met Karen and Jonah, who are such kind and sweet innkeepers. They shared some stories of the inn since we last visited, and even gave us some cooking tips for their famous soufflé. My husband & I just spent the weekend there for our 39th wedding anniversary. It was a perfect choice and very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful grounds overlooking the pond. The room was adjacent to a shared kitchen which came in very handy since we had a picnic the first night. Our delicious breakfast was delivered to our kitchen every morning at 9 am. From the second we arrived to the minute we left we were always taken care of. The owners know how to make your stay comfortable, relaxing & easy. We were shown around when we first checked in, and promptly took advantage of our rooms amazing outdoor spa tub! There was a small wedding happening but honestly, we didn't even notice. Had it been a bigger, louder crowd taking up common area that we couldn't enjoy I would have been disappointed. This is a good question to ask when booking. The next day we enjoyed a couples massage onsite, followed by dinner (we provided) by the fire pit and s'mores (they provided) while Visiting with another couple. Breakfast each day was delicious. A little tight breakfast window of 30 minutes but I understand why. So we made it work :) I was surprised there wasn't a cocktail reception in the evenings but we had gone wine tasting and enjoyed our own wine by the fire anyway. I live in Sacramento and take a trip to Apple Hill every year in the fall and also frequent the area several times a year for wine tasting. So when my boyfriend from Hawai'i and I were looking for a place to spend our one year anniversary and he suggested this place in Placerville, I was a little skeptical. I went to the website and was immediately drawn to the fact that they had spa tubs on the patio! I started to read on and decided that this might be a lovely place to go...so we booked two mid-week nights. The day of check-in I suggested we stop over and do a little wine tasting at a few of my favorite wineries that I haven't visited in years. It was nearing 4pm and I had scheduled check-in for 5pm, so I called Eden Vale and spoke with Karen, the owner and Inn keeper - letting her know we will be there around 6pm. She was very delightful and said that it wouldn't be a problem. When we entered Karen, her husband David, and they 4-legged companion, Sam, all greeted us at the door. They asked us how our wine-tasting went and we talked with them a few minutes before getting a tour of the property then showing us to our room. I have to say when I started walking the property I was really looking forward to our stay...it is very beautiful. We stayed in the Madrone room. Our patio overlooked the foothills and if we walk out and down the path it leads us right to the fire pit where at about 9pm every night a fire is lit and fixings for s'mores is provided. The room has a shared stocked kitchenette (shared with one other room). They deliver a tray of coffee to this kitchenette every morning and ensure there is water in the fridge. At 9am every morning they do a wonderful breakfast. When you walk into the main area there is an area where you could make a cup coffee. There is a table that offers fresh squeezed juices, homemade yogurt, fresh fruit, and scones, etc. Once you help yourself you can sit down at a table in a variety of places: sun room, patio, indoors, etc. and you are served a hot breakfast. Our breakfasts consisted of the following: Day One: Asparagus and mushroom frittata, roasted potatoes, maple sage pork sausage & apricot scones. Day Two: Waffles with peaches, chicken apple sausage, and strawberry scones. Both of these breakfasts were so delicious, you can definitely taste the pride in the cooking. The second evening of our stay we had ordered a couples massage. We dressed in the robes we were provided and walked down to the massage room where we were greeted by two massage therapists that did a terrific job. We left feeling relaxed and tension-free. We even utilized the kitchenette and used the stove to heat up some amazing food from a local restaurant (*see my review for Allez!) Karen and David definitely take pride in their property and it shows in how clean and well-kept Eden Vale Inn is. The whole stay was enjoyable and relaxing. We will definitely be going back. This is certainly one of the most comfortable, welcoming, and beautiful inns that we've ever visited. We couldn't believe how lovely the grounds were - it doesn't look very unusual from the road, but it's an oasis once you visit the property. We stayed here primarily because we travel with our large Rottweiler puppy. Although pricey for the area, we were not disappointed. They have two rooms for dogs and we stayed in the Cottonwood. The room had a patio but it was not enclosed, they provide bowls and doggie bed. The grounds were a good place to walk your dog. They were welcoming to us and our puppy. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Eden Vale! We were immediately greeted by the inn keeper Gayle. She was friendly and hospitable, and even upgraded our room to a king size after learning that we were celebrating our anniversary and baby moon! Highlights: - Food: the breakfast was filling and delicious. She had prepared fresh yogurt, homemade granola, fruit, fresh warm Scones and the breakfast entree for the day. One morning was cheese blintz's and sausage and then next morning was spinach and mushroom omelets with chicken sausage and potatoes. Yummy! Also, fresh squeezed orange juice and quality coffee. -Grounds: the grounds were beautiful and natural. There is a cute pond with a row boat to enjoy, a fire pit that was lit each night, and fun friendly chickens running about the property. - Room: wow! The room was beautiful, clean, and well thought out. We had a comfy king size bed, a fireplace that kept us nice and warm, and my FAVORITE part a large couples soaking tub on our patio. This beautiful rainy morning, my husband and I enjoyed sipping our fresh hot coffee while soaking in the tub on our private patio. Other fun amenities: Fresh coffee was brought to us in the morning. Arrived and waited for the innkeepers who was Davids son to give his spiel to another couple who had arrived before us. Booked the Juniper room. Pros: It appeared to be a safe area- when compared to the hotels in Placerville The breakfast was outstanding-minus the ketchup smeared across the plate and serving size Very Clean This room was a pet free room Cons: This room is right next to the main office and driveway. If you want privacy, this is not the room for you. It is small too. David wasn't kidding when he said, "might wanna get something to eat before you get here because once you get here your not going to want to leave" I can only assume this statement was made due to the distance from the main city-pretty far The road was kinda scary small shoulders and steep drop off The colors in the room were awful, Brown The beds are SO uncomfortable Seemed like the fire place was on a timer and went off every 15 minutes We heard the toilet flushing upstairs all night long Every time we sat on the toilet in our room it would rock- BOMB-its not properly secured Toilet paper holder tilted down so when you pull the paper, it comes off the holder We had to cross our fingers and hope the heater worked in the room. Apparently if the other room had it on first, it wouldn't work in our room. We started the fire pit. David came saying he smelled the smoke. Approaching the pit he noticed I put another piece of wood in it and took it out. He pulled up his sleeves and set a piece of paper explaining, as if my husband and I were dumb that fire needs oxygen, heat, and fuel. He went on to tell another story of how a previous guest loaded the fire pit with wood and clearly didn't know the three needs. I asked him if I could give the gate code out to a driver who was delivering pizza, he said no. My son didn't tell you the code for deliveries-nope he didn't. His response, I'm gonna beat him. OK.... Might be nice if you added who delivers (door dashes) to your residence. I had Mountain Mikes Pizza deliver via door dash (outstanding). It took forever to find a restaurant that delivered through door dash. We had to share a mini refrigerator-no freezer with another guest. So I guess you hope no one touches your food since its outside in the kitchen area. Seemed like any assistance we asked for was a job for them. Asked if the stone oven to make pizza was available-they have to be notified in advance. Walking the grounds, a lot of the plants were dead and there wasn't much privacy. The "lake" doesn't seem to be a real lake rather an old water pit for cows to drink from. We lived through the worst fire in 2018. So it's no surprise we were a little worried when we received a red flag warning messages from city officials. My husband asked Davids wife if we could get a refund for the second night as we were going to head home. She told my husband if she could rent it tonight, she'd give us a refund. I went into the office and asked her for a refund. She went on to say we are a small business and we are loosing money if I give you a refund. We were about ¾ packed. As I walked out I said well we aren't going to loose our money so I guess we will stay and pray our house doesn't burn down. Almost in tears I walked back to the room to assist in unloading. A couple minutes later, she came to our door and said she would give us a refund. Not in a professional, or even nice compassionate way. It was more like we'll give you your money, get out! NOPE I wouldn't recommend this place. Before reserving we looked at a couple of other places that seemed to be better-they were booked. Responded from the owner 2 weeks ago Responding to a poor review is always challenging for a business owner. When a guest receives incredibly stressful news and then angrily shoves a phone in your face demanding a refund at 2pm, it can be a bit daunting. At that point no matter what anyone says or does, it's likely taken the wrong way. However, we are not without compassion and though it was contrary to the policies you signed on the registration form and agreed to, we did issue you a refund. While its true that everyone is going through incredibly trying times and I could easily refute everything you wrote and criticized, we do hope your home was spared and that you made it home safely to Southern California. BTW - the pond is manmade (not a cow trough) and has constant clean well water pumped into it. Plus, its winter and in the Sierra foothills the grasses turn brown and many plants lose their leaves and go dormant till spring. We shoved a phone in your face, are you kidding me? you're liar!!! We were respectful while your wife ran after us due to the fact you REFUSED to offer a refund-not at 2pm as you say-at 1pm. Guess it's hard for you to receive a bad review for issues we legitimately had. Again, we suffered through the Woolley fires and were surprised when we received a red flag warning-they denied our refund. read more

It is a small Garden of Eden with surprises around every corner. Walk the grounds and discover a small road with a fence and on top of the fence posts old bowling balls or happen onto another garden a plant-holder displaying vintage birdcages. Edward loves walks with discovery like this, as anyone would. It has a transforming quality, stress leaves - smiles appear. A big consideration in planning a visit to Eden Vale Inn is where to eat. Restaurants are not in walking distance, talk to the Inn about recommendations, and make a reservation otherwise you could end up at a pizza place called Marco's and possibly wait an hour for not good pizza. Now the alternative and this is brilliant! The Inn has an outdoor kitchen, with a grill and pizza oven. You will be provided with a small refrigerator and this is the ultimate, Eden Vale Inn has a vegetable garden and whatever is in season they share with you. This is beyond Farm to Table this is Inn to Table. The rooms are comfortable, thoughtful and charming. The outdoor bathtubs are a fantasy come true, who wouldn't like to sit out doors in your very own tub? The staff, especially if you are lucky to run into Gayle Ballard, is warm and caring. Besides traveling with Edward I am following a wheat free and gluten free diet, this Inn will make you a delicious alternative to their famous scones. We came for a wedding, and everything about the property is beautiful. We walked the gardens, and every corner we turned there was a new secret spot. It seemed like every chair, ornament, and resting area was thoughtfully laid out for us to discover and enjoy. The back opens up to a nice view of a valley and river. Its a very quiet place. I think it would be a great place to stay and wake up to the birds chirping by the feeder, up by the wedding area. Theres also a pond with row boat. Chickens and horses on the other side. And the staff was so friendly. I called to book a room, and when told it was full, they made nice recommendations for other places to stay. They are genuinely nice and willing to help you have a great stay. read more

I was excited to plan a whitewater rafting trip up near Sacramento. All of the rafting companies offer free camping if you arrive a day early. While the idea of camping sounded mildly interesting, I'm a city girl who likes a comfortable bed and a clean, hot shower. So the search for nice accommodations was on! I'm a very thorough trip planner so I probably looked at the website of every B&B and hotel within 15 miles. Just from other reviews and photos alone, Eden Vale seemed a cut above the competition. Although Mark and Gayle have owned the barn-house that the B&B is located in for other 20 years, they have only been in this business for a year. But they are no novices - they've put so much time and energy into this B&B and every little detail shows. Everything from the tubs, showers, and linens in the bedroom to the landscaping in the various gardens is impeccable. For guests to relax, they have real (nonelectric) fireplaces in each guest room and in the common area. They provide ample reading materials and movies to enjoy in your downtime. They've set up over a dozen seating areas inside the main house and around the property for you to enjoy the country life. There's a ton of privacy, but if you need something, Mark, Gayle, Kirsten or Miriam are always on hand to help. The B&B is somewhat secluded but there are many great restaurant options within 15 minutes. It's also less than 10 minutes away from the meeting places of most rafting companies. Since we had to meet for rafting early in the morning, I requested breakfast at 6:15am. I was blown away by the effort that the innkeepers put in to accommodate us. I expected some fruit and cereal but I wasn't expecting a delicious potato and egg dish as well. If you're in the area, this is an excellent choice. I couldn't have picked a more charming or inviting place! The staff was amazing, our room was cozy (loved the overhead shower and its rain effect!), and the food was delicious. Best surprise of all, after our breakfast the next morning, we start to head back to our room to bump into the Newlyweds!! This place was so special that they booked this place for their honeymoon (we didn't know this as it was kept secret). An Oasis of Love! First, Eden Vale's website is beautifully designed with photos of the property and every room available. I reached out to the owners to plan our wedding and they replied the same day. We scheduled a tour of the property within the week. This place is amazing, the gardens, the wedding pavilion, the pond and especially the rooms are exquisitely maintained. The owners took the time to give us the tour of EVERYTHING the Inn had to offer. Answered all our questions with a great sense of humor and welcoming smile making it easy to select this for our wedding. We booked a 2-night stay in the Cottonwood/pet friendly room. The room was very clean and nicely appointed with a comfortable, king bed. Our room led out to a beautifully landscaped area and was also quick and easy access for our dogs- particularly important just before bedtime. Breakfast was excellent. David and Karen served homemade yougurt with fresh, ripe fruit, lemon blueberry pancakes, and bacon. The grounds have many areas to sit and contemplate the scenic views. What a beautiful property! My husband and I spent a couple nights here in March 2021 to celebrate our anniversary. The property is beautiful, the hosts are superb, the rooms are so cozy (with amazing and private soaking tubs on the front patio of the room), and the breakfast was so delicious! The rooms are so private and every room was so clean, making this the perfect little getaway during COVID. Originally booked one night and after reading reviews decided to book a second. I definitely don't regret that decision! I have never been to a more relaxing or romantic place. Both David and Karen were wonderful hosts. We ended up staying in the juniper room. There was a beautiful shower with duel heads. My favorite part was the out door soaking tub and I took full advantage of it. We happened to be there while it was raining and it was nice to be able to soak and listen to the rain at the same time. One of my favorite features was that you could fill the tub from a control inside the room. The grounds it's self were heavenly. It's so green and lush. There are also I lot of small walking paths to explore. You can take a stroll around the pond, or go to the chicken coup. There's a lot of different places to sit and just relax. The first night we were there we spent an hour or so just exploring. We were even supposed to go to Apple hill second day but decided to stay in and enjoy everything Edenavale had to offer. The breakfast was delicious both days we were there. My favorite part was the scones! Perfectly buttery and not too sweet. I even bought their scone cook book for my mom in hopes she could create some closer to home haha. Also received a massage for Barbara. Couldn't recommend her more! Exactly what I needed after a kind work week. I definitely will be returning and would recommend this little slice of heaven to anyone I know. read more

This is the nicest B&B in the area. Owners are kind and so helpful. Breakfast is delicious,rooms are lovely and the property is gorgeous. We live about 30 minutes away and this is our favorite spot for a quick recharge and getaway.... highly recommend. read more
