Karen, David and the whole Eden Vale Inn team are the best. From the moment I booked me and my wife's mini honeymoon getaway at Eden Vale to the moment we checked out , We were well taken care off. All my questions were answered in a quick timely manner prior to arriving. We were greeted with a warm welcome upon our arrival and checked in pretty smooth. The room we stayed at was very cozy and beautiful. Our door had me and my wife's name welcoming us. (Small personal details like that make me feel a lot appreciated and welcomed). The staff was professional and kind and respectful. We had the romantic package and it came with rose petals and Champaign in the room. Our room (Gray Pine) was very elegant. The website picture of the room was great but once you see it in person you'll be amazed how beautiful it is. We didn't get to experience the fire pit but looking forward to coming back to try it. The pond area was beautiful in the morning and great for photo shoots. All in all it was a great and amazing experience. We will definitely come back. Hadn't visited the area before and decided to spend a couple of days exploring Apple Hill. Booked the Cypress room at Eden Vale B&B for one night. So wanted to give this place a 5-star review, especially since others seem to love it, but it just wasn't deserving of 5 stars in our opinion. The good: The people who greeted us were very nice; not sure if they were the owners? The orientation was thorough. Once you make a reservation, you are presented with an online document that gives tons of information on what to do, where to eat, things to know about your stay, etc. Very organized and very helpful! The hotel gave us a wine pass for the duration of our stay. That meant we were able to taste for free at a number of local wineries. Very fun and a great perk! (Make sure to check out Lava Cap - that winery was amazing!) The room was super clean and nicely appointed. The water pressure was great! Fireplace was adorable and a nice touch. The AC in the room worked wonderfully. Note that the Cypress has a step between the bedroom and the bathroom. This wasn't good or bad, just a note of caution to those who might have an issue with this in the middle of the night when it's dark. The food was to die for - everything was fresh, tasty, filling. Absolutely delicious! I'm a vegetarian and they went out of their way to accommodate me. Thank you! The grounds are stunning. Make time in your schedule to explore them! And the chickens are fun. :) The not-so-good: The resident dog was a little bit scary (barking a lot at us), but we were told "don't look at him and he'll be fine." Umm, ok... My guess is that he's always fine, but that was odd. The bed was horribly uncomfortable - time for a mattress replacement! A bad mattress can ruin a trip, and we both woke up in pain. Six light bulbs were burned out in our room. The Cypress is a very dark room to start (basement windows on one side that are covered over and a very shaded garden patio on another wall - the other walls are interior walls), so to have a number of lights burned out was frustrating. The DirectTV didn't work. My husband had to mess with the box that's up on a shelf in the closet, then we had to wait for 30 minutes (see next comment) while the whole thing reset. That did fix the problem though. Not enough soundproofing between the rooms. We had the joy of being near a very "enthusiastic" couple (think Samantha in Sex and the City), and couldn't drown out the noise (which is why we were a bit bummed that the TV wouldn't work for a while). Shared refrigerator space (which in all fairness I believe is mentioned on the website), which meant we didn't feel comfortable putting wine/snacks in it. The softest sheets I've ever felt in my life - heavenly! Until you try to roll over. They stick to you and make it difficult to move. The s'mores are billed as a fun thing to do at the hotel. We decided to check it out and arrived at the fire pit at the same time as another couple just as a family of four were leaving. The family had cleared out all of the s'mores fixings, and we and the other couple both left disappointed (this was 1.5 hours before the fire was to be closed down, so not at the last minute). We were told to text management for any reason, so we texted the management asking if there were any more s'mores ingredients, but we never received a response. At all. Neither of us had made s'mores since we were kids, so it seems silly, but this is something we were looking forward to. Disappointing. Note to management: Why not provide a small s'mores package in each room instead of making it a free-for-all outdoors? That would have solved the problem. :) We sat outside for breakfast, and at first, the meal was wonderful. As mentioned, the food is heavenly. However, then the B&B's neighbor decided to start target shooting right along the property line, and the property line borders the dining space of the B&B. We asked management if we should be concerned, and the response was that the neighbor was probably being ornery and that he knows what time they serve breakfast. Ugh. Kind of killed the enjoyment of the meal to have a gun going off right next to us for most of it. The management was insistent on knowing what time we'd be checking in. I get it - it's a small place and they want to plan for guests' arrival. The hitch is that we were unfamiliar with the area, didn't know how long we'd be at different wineries/orchards, and couldn't give an exact time of check in. Note to management: Since it seemed the desk was manned until 7pm, maybe just ask the guests to be there before 7pm and then make alternate arrangements if that isn't possible? We spent too much time being stressed over trying to figure out exactly what time we'd arrive at the B&B for check in, but we knew we'd be there before 7pm. Summary: It's a nice place run by nice people, but there were a number of little negative things that added up, especially at this price point. read more

Beautiful accommodations with incredible attention to detail. High end bedding, towels, fixtures, lighting and decor. Everything is clean, maintained and fresh looking, unlike some places that feel worn and tired. We returned in the evening from wine tasting at David Girard Vineyards to a roaring fire pit and all the makings for smores just waiting if someone wanted to utilize. In the morning breakfast was first class with lots of healthy options, coffee, espresso, homemade granola, french toast, sausage, etc. The gardens are beautiful with a real feel of tranquility. Perfect for a romantic get away but would love to go back for a girl's weekend as well. We will definitely return. read more

We stayed in the Stone Pine room with our two boxers. It was the little details like the Serta orthopedic doggie beds, foaming bath liquid for the Japanese soaking tub, really really nice make-up removing pads (ladies, you know the kind that don't shred), robes from the SF robe company, spa slippers, ice cold water in your personal mini fridge, and s'mores served nightly around the fire pit that elevated this from a 5 star to a 6 star review. You can tell that the storybook gardens are lovingly maintained. We all dipped into the picturesque country pond to eacape the 86° heat. I especially enjoyed paddling around the pond in lazy aimless circles in the cutest little row boat. We will be back! read more

What a great place! Mark and Gayle are so thoughtful, and genuinely strived to make sure our stay was what we wanted it to be. They take a barn on a small piece of land, and turn it into this wonderfully relaxing place to call home base during your visit to gold/wine/apple country. Thank you both for the thought and effort you have put into the building and property...It shows! This was the first bed and breakfast my wife and I have stayed at. This is their home, but it does not feel like staying in someone's home. The converted barn has plenty of comfy common areas to hang out, indoors or out. The room was beautiful, quite and comfortable. We brought dinner back to the inn, and ate on our patio every night. So peaceful. The outdoor kitchen is awesome. We loved hanging out by the fire every night. Mark and Gayle both always made sure we had plenty of wood, blankets, pillows and of course...s'mores fixins. We are early risers and generally skip the breakfasts that are included with most places we stay. You don't want to do that here. Gayle's breakfasts are amazing, and something to look forward to every morning. Expertly prepared with fresh, local ingredients. As busy as she must be, she still made time to ask us about our plans for the day and offered suggestions. She must have sensed the foodies that we are, tells us about Allez, a little French cafe in Diamond Spings. That took care of dinner every night. That place has such amazing food, there was no need to go anywhere else. But that is is different review. The only negative, if you can call it that, was the lack of cell service (Verizon) in the area. And we were never able to login to the wifi. We did not mention it, although we probably should have. But we knew it is something they were working on while we were there. So I'm sure they are getting a handle on that. At the end of the day, the lack of cell service and wifi forced me to completely disconnect from work. I brought my laptop, but never used it. So this was sort of a blessing in disguise. Anyway, I can't really say enough about the inn or the innkeepers. When work gets me all bunched up and I need to exhale, The Eden Vale is on the short list of places to stay and I am sure we will return...hopefully very soon! read more

The one & only negative experience about my entire wedding/honeymoon experience. Before we stayed at Eden Vale we took a tour from a extremely nice lady named Gail. Gail mentioned to us her other business partners name was also Gail as well. The next day I get a call from the other Gail asking me to pay additional $$ for my Wife's bridesmaids to get ready at the bed in breakfast room. Her tone of voice seemed quite rude on the phone. Not a problem about the $, but that's strike #1 for the rude phone attitude. Strike #2 was when my bride let them know the groom is on his way & should be arriving within 20-minutes or so. When I arrived a 6-foot iron gate was shut/locked. I had to hop over the fence & walk a good distance to my room. So strike #3 was when I left in the morning to help clean up things after the wedding at the nearby Gold Hill Vineyard. I get a call from my wife saying check out time just passed & she's kicked out of the room. No extended stay, I guess. So I rush back as she's outside on a hot day along with all of our personal belongings/luggage. "WARNING" there is a good Gail & bad Gail at (Eden Vale). So it's kind of like the good cop bad cop gig. All in all I feel like the bad Gail stereotyped us because of age & were 30. So I do not recommend going here unless you're a 50+ & have a AARP membership. The place is nice & beautiful though & the good Gail was awesome... Some of my friends & family stayed at the nearby Bella Vista, I wish I did as well! read more

Okay so if Yelp had more than five stars it would definitely be that for this place. Starting with my reservation I was called later that afternoon by David who is one of the owners of Edenvale. He was very cheerful and very personable while letting me know about the amazing amenities that they have. There is a app that is also a part of their reservation that's you get to use that includes all of their local restaurants wineries and other things to do around there as well as adding extras to your stay. It made things super convenient for me and my fiance. They also use texting as a way to communicate before and during your stay. Me and my fiance had one of the most memorable times here. That was just the beginning before we even got to the location. We checked in at 3 picked up our all-day complimentary wine pass and were greeted by David and his cute dog. We were also greeted by their son Jonah who showed us around the beautiful grounds he was very detailed about every part of the stay and our room which we loved. Very romantic already set up with relaxing music in our room and outside of our room was a swing and a huge beautiful scenic area to just walk through with your other half. Also I might add that my fiance snuck in a add on with rose petals and champagne to our room while I was using ladies room during check in that they accomodated very last minute that was a great suprise. The pond with the row boat was our favorite . We went to a couple of bars around there ate some amazing food that was within 15 minutes of where we were staying. I have to say this is the most relaxing and romantic comfortable place to go. They made us feel at home. The next morning we had coffee waiting outside of our room then breakfast at 9 cooked by his wife( I apologize for forgetting your name) who made a perfect frittata and and the most amazing banana nut bread. To die for. The setting for breakfast was so pretty.She cooked up a storm with Grace. I could go on about our stay there and will be definitely booking every 3 months for our getaway. This is easily the nicest B&B I've ever stayed at. The owners were away, but we were taken care of by a kind, informative traveling innkeeper. The grounds are peaceful and quiet. There are areas that need some manicuring to match the rest of the grounds, but that didn't impact our stay. Everything was so clean. The room was quiet, comfortable with AC, and had so many thoughtful design elements, from the perfectly customizable automatic lights to the double shower head with lots of hot water. There's also Direct TV and a very comfy mattress that doesn't jostle. Use of microwave and fridge, free bottled water and sodas, and an outdoor fire pit. Breakfasts are varied, homemade, and delicious with healthy options. I also had a massage from Jamie in the little spa room, which was super relaxing. The only thing you might want to be aware of is that sometimes little critters get inside, since it is up in the hills. Bugs and even little lizards can make their way into your room. Keep your doors closed and it shouldn't be a problem. read more

Eden Vale Inn was the perfect getaway that my wife and I have been looking for. My wife surprised me for my 35th birthday with a 2 night stay here. Everything was perfect! We highly recommend the Madrone room which is facing the fire pit and pond and set away from the main building. Chef Val's breakfasts which are included as part of your stay are amazing! Everything is fresh and delsicious. The grounds are beautiful and very peaceful. We also booked a couples massage which was awesome and just a quick walk from our room. There are plenty of restaurants about 20 minutes away but there is a full outdoor kitchen and bbq available if you would like to stay in and prepare your own meals. The attention to detail was refreshing in that they had pretty much thought of everything to make your stay as smooth, comfortable and relaxing as possible! I rarely give away the secret hideaways that my wife and I go too. However, this one is an exception, and needs to be shared. Eden Vale Inn is a beautiful bed and breakfast and a true hidden gem in the Placerville CA area. I was referred to this place by a close friend and business partner. My wife and I stayed over for a romantic Valentines Day weekend. Mark and Gayle have lived there for over 25 years, and opened Edenvale in 2008. They have put their hearts and souls into their establishment. The surrounding property is lush and green, while the Inn itself has both a very classic, yet stylishly updated and modern feel. We felt like we were coming into someone's home and immediately felt comfortable and welcome. The rooms have every immenity you can think of. There are a lot of modern conveniences that you would find in most fine hotels. Remote controlled fireplace, mood lighting, air conditioning/heating, Private japanese spa on your own private terrace, individual robes and slippers, lounge chairs and an ultra modern and decadent bathroom(rainforest shower heads..incredible). Our stay was in the Stonepine room, located on the bottom half of the Inn. We had an incredibly comfortable bed with luxurious pima cotton sheets. My wife and I slept more soundly than we had in a long while. Breakfast is served to guests around 9am and we were treated to Gayle's fabulous cooking(prosciutto, feta, bell pepper quiche...delicious!). Her cooking alone is enough to come out to the Inn. Mark is a very engaging host and sat with us and other guests for breakfast as we extoled the wonderful virtues to his place. There's numerous hiking, restaurants, and wineries nearby to make the experience that much more exciting. We will be exploring all of those options upon our next visit. It was the perfect way to relax our minds and enjoy our holiday weekend. If you live the busy fast paced lives that my wife and I do, and just need to get away and really re-center yourselves....Eden Vale is the place to do it. Accidentally booked a room without a soaking tub but we didn't realize this until we arrived and toured our room. Upon letting the staff know how disappointed we were that room didn't have a tub, they Instantly went to work to find us a room with a tub. I highly recommend Eden Vale Inn! It is beautiful and we couldn't have asked for a better place to enjoy some much needed relaxation and romance. We had planned a larger wedding but due to Covid-19 our venue got canceled and we had to change our plans last minute and have a small Family only ceremony. David and Karen came through for us and made everything so simple and our wedding beautiful! I highly recommend staying for a romantic getaway or having a small wedding or elopement here! We had the most delightful wedding weekend (October 5-7, 2018) for our daughter's special day. Planning far ahead we rented the entire inn for immediate family, held ceremony and reception on property. Innkeepers David and Karen are engaging, gracious and easy to work with. The property itself is so beautiful. The main lodge is as homey and lovely as it could be. Every room is tastefully decorated, best described by 'country sumptuous'. The wedding pavilion is perfect for small ceremonies and the front courtyard provided an esthetic and natural background for the reception. After all was said and done after the wedding and reception we settled in around the large fire pit for Somemores while reveling in the gloriousness of the day. David was the officiant, and did a wonderful job in the roll. Each morning a delicious full breakfast is provided that is 5 star worthy. We had an amazing stay at Eden Vale. We would definitely recommend this to friends. They have a great handle on the little things. The communication ahead of the stay was personal. The tour of the property was thorough. We really enjoyed that the rooms are a more contemporary design. This is so much better than the typical "flowers & lace" of other bed and breakfast locations. Breakfast was awesome. It hit the spot. We stayed here during a major heat wave. The air conditioning worked great. Because of a fire 10 miles away, the power went out for the whole county. Ouch. 105 degrees out, no power, no air conditioning. This can test how good the owners and staff would react. Fortunately, the staff of the Eden Vale Inn knocked it out of the park. They did everything possible to figure out the situation, give us alternatives, put together a BBQ for the guests, and figured out where we could eat dinner that did have power outside of the county. They were amazing. When it gets hot, they stay cool under pressure. read more

My wife booked this wonderful B&B. I didn't know what to expect, honestly. I was blown away as soon as we pulled up the driveway and saw the beautiful house and gorgeous landscaping. First class all the way. Our room was immaculate and warm. I travel a lot and particular about nice hotel rooms, this worked for me big time. What made the experience special was the hosts, Karen and David and their spirit of hospitality. They took time to talk and get to know us. Kindred spirits for sure. I need to give a shout out to Sam, their dog who we got to know and got to know our little Mini-Pin, Elsie. Breakfast was the topping on the whole experience. Homemade granola and yogurt and fresh coffee for starters. Really well executed and tasty egg recipes every morning with apple sausage or bacon. Yum! We will definitely make our way back to see Karen and David and their wonderful retreat! read more

From the previous reviews and from the photos on the website, I knew that the Eden Vale Inn would be a nice enough place. But when I got there, it exceeded my expectations. Around every corner there was a magical garden, an unusual view, or a tucked-away place to sit with a book. I went with a big group of family members and we had places to be together as a group and places to be alone. We cooked together in the outdoor kitchen, BBQ'd by the pond at sunset, sat around the fire at night and came back together over incredibly delicious breakfasts. It was a burst of sunlight relative to the foggy, windy seaside towns that are so often B&B destinations. The staff gave us helpful advice on restaurants and grocery stores and were always friendly. read more

This was our second trip to Eden Vale. We love coming here. The rooms are comfortable, relaxing and updated with modern touches. The Inn is stunningly beautiful with all the craftsmanship and detail that went into fixing the old barn that it once was. The hospitality is wonderful. We absolutely love their breakfast! Fresh homemade scones, fresh squeezed juice, eggs from their chickens and all fresh ingredients that are home cooked. They are very thoughtful in regard to dietary requests. We happened to find this place online and are so glad we did. The check-in process was so quick and easy, the Inn keepers (owners) Mark and Gayle were so warm and welcoming. Before we arrived we grabbed some gelato in Placerville and did a little wine tasting in nearby Camino (Apple Hill). Our room was awesome, the television was large, the gas fireplace very romantic, overhead rain spout in the shower, and a VERY awesome Japanese tub on a private patio. We especially loved breakfast. A wonderful fruit assortment, fresh scones, cream cheese pastry, herbed country potatoes, spinach and feta cheese quiche, fresh coffee and fresh squeezed OJ. YUMMY! The beds could be improved, they were a bit lumpy, but overall a great place! We are definitely going back in spring to take in the beautiful air and gardens on the property! read more

My husband and I spent two wonderful nights at the Inn. The room was large, the bed comfortable with soft linens, the bath had a rainfall shower head and a regular shower, the couple sized hot tub was bliss, the robes warm and cozy, and the grounds were spacious and well-tended. Breakfast both mornings was superb, arrived hot and fresh. It is an adults only establishment and the focus is on being pampered (massages are available and there are other amenities to enhance your stay). It was delightful and very refreshing. We have stayed at Eden Vale a handful of times since they first opened. We always go during the winter (our anniversary) so I can't speak to the outdoor activities. This is not your average stuffy bed and breakfast! It's in a renovated barn and every detail has been thought of. The rooms are quiet, private, and well-decorated. No floral wallpaper here! Instead you will find fresh white linens, flat screens in each room, natural stone bathrooms, rainfall showerheads, neutral clean colors, thick bathrobes, and romantic lighting on a dimmer switch. Our room had a fireplace (with temp/timer controls) and a private outdoor deep tub which brilliantly fills with a remote from inside the room (no need to freeze while waiting for it to fill!) While the tubs are provided with partitions and curtains- they are not completely private. The next room's tubs are all close together. So yes, it will be romantic but... ahem... not *that* kind of romantic. At least not if the rooms are full. Their breakfast in the morning is something I remember year after year. Seriously it is THAT delicious. Anything you could think of (and they accomodate special diets I think). Freshest and highest ingredients. A gorgeous view of the property. The property is lovely to wander. Livestock, nature, gardens, statues, ponds... the entire stay is so leisurely and restorative. You will leave feeling like you had a long term get away instead of a close-to-city overnight stay. My only (minor) complaint is that they beds felt rather small. For that reason I didn't sleep as well as I could have. I am used to plenty of room. Otherwise book it! You won't regret it! read more

Val's breakfasts were absolutely delicious (with gluten/dairy free options). I appreciate they asked how much food we wanted, so we were not wasteful. The owners Karen and Dave were kind and helpful. They set us up for a wine club tasting at David Girard Vineyards. We had great couples massages on property and the views of the night skies from the fire pit were beautiful. We will bring our friends back to take advantage of activities on the American River and the local wine tasting. This is an amazing little slice of Heaven!! My husband and I stayed 5 days and that wasnt long enough!! We stayed in the room gray pine. I can highly recommend it! Very secluded and it has a fireplace and two person tub on the patio. Karen and David are very welcoming and are there for any needs. Karen arranged a wine tasting for us that was just lovely. Chef val makes delicious breakfast, my favorite had to be the rosemary and lemon scones!!! Coffee and tea was available all day (even an espresso machine). The grounds are amazing and worth some time spent on them. There is a pond with a row boat, a fire pit that can be lit (we never did figure how to light it as there didnt seem to be anything to light it with.. but david lit it for us) they even supply you with smore stuff. There were some quirky fun spots on the grounds too... We had the greatest time and it was so close to apple hill and only an hour drive to lake tahoe! We loved it so much and hope to return again, one day! read more

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding weekend. We got married in the Apple Hill area and wanted something close BUT not too close so we will bump into our wedding guest. We checked out a couple of the other B&Bs in the area to see what would work for us and Eden Vale Inn was the winner. The grounds are beautiful and the innkeepers are nice and accommodating. All the rooms are beautifully design and have high end fixtures and lighting. The shower was awesome! The breakfast was delicious as well. My small wedding party actually got ready with me in my room and it was so nice of the innkeepers for allowing me to do that. They even stocked the fringe in the hallway with bottled water for us. The house is big so you feel like you have privacy. I know we will visit again for a future anniversary. We loved this place! Oh also it might be good to mention my Husband wasn't for the whole B&B idea. But once we toured Eden Vale Inn he was sold just because the rooms seemed spread out for privacy and the house is big. There are a few dining area options so you don't have to be too social if you wanted a quiet breakfast with your partner. read more

We had an absolutely amazing time. I had been wanting to come here with my husband for a while and we finally had the time to go. We were not disappointed one bit. Very nice and clean rooms, delicious coffee and breakfast every morning delivered to our room and the owners and staff were simply amazing (and can't forget Sam the wonderdawg!!). We just returned from two wonderful and relaxing days at the Eden Vale Inn. The place is beautiful and the owners have really created an Eden with their incredible gardens, garden paths and the details that matter. Our room was perfect. Comfortable bed, deluxe sheets, fabulous shower and the recessed lighting was controlled by a remote so you could turn it off or change it from the sofa or bed. Everyone was welcoming, warm and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and my husband, who doesn't usually eat breakfast, had two helpings of french toast. We found this gem on dogtrekker, and chose it because of the yelp reviews and because it is dog friendly. We were also able to find dog friendly wineries in the area. It was our first time in Placerville, but it won't be our last since we found this Inn, thanks to the staff at Eden Vale. read more

This place is so amazing! Dave and Karen are perfect hosts. Very welcoming and make you feel right at home. We had our very small wedding here and spend two wonderful nights. They made everything perfect. The room was spacious and very private and comfortable. There was an outdoor couples soaking tub on our private patio. Breakfast was very good. Besides the usual fruit, yogurt and granola they cook a hot meal for you when you arrive to breakfast. Homemade sausage, potatoes, quiche. We are pretty particular about coffee and theirs is great. The grounds are beautiful and tranquil. Enjoy the peacefulness by the pond or unwind by the fire pit with a glass of wine. If you're looking for a romantic getaway or just want to unplug and relax look no further than Eden Vale. We can't wait to go back! read more

Stayed one night for our anniversary and we loved it. Cozy and welcoming and still modern and clean. The outdoor bath tubs are great and the breakfast was delicious. I just completed my second stay at the Eden Vale Inn. This bed and breakfast is amazing, simply put. The owners are attentive and do all they can to ensure your stay is perfect. The rooms have modern decor, lovely fireplaces, and outdoor spa tubs. The breakfasts are homemade and locally sourced. They have a wine cellar with local wine. My boyfriend and I just spent two amazing nights here for our anniversary. Karen and David went above and beyond for us. Even before we we arrived we spoke to Karen letting her know we weren't going to make our couples massage since we were stuck in traffic. She took it upon herself to ask another couple if they wanted to switch with us. She didn't have to do that, but thanks to her we were able to enjoy an amazing massage and relax the rest of the evening. The breakfast was so good and they were so cautious with my nut allergy that it was one less thing to worry about. The property is so beautiful, homey, and relaxing. Eventhough there were other couples staying in the property we felt like everything was catered to our needs. Thank you Karen and David for an incredible stay. We will definitely be back. read more
