worst experience ever. i called on a friday afternoon to make an appt the girl on the phone spoke great english and i told her that i wanted to get a new set she sets a time when i arrive i have to wait around 20ish minutes again not a super big deal. The real trouble starts when i sat down they remove my old set and i tell the man doing my nails that i want the same shape/length. He starts filling down my nails so hard they start to bleed then another lady switches over. She starts telling me what I want, starts saying "shellac polish you want shellac" over and over again. I think its because it was closer to them closing so they just didn't want to spend the time they then again switched to another person. I didn't even get my cuticles done or anything else just a lot of filing my nails. The nail polish i picked but was dry and gross and i had to go get another one. i was just over it and wanted to leave at this point when they charged me she even told me she was giving me a $10 discount and I'm pretty sure its because she knew i said i wanted acrylics and not a manicure. sounds like a lot of other people have had better experiences with them dont know if they were just off that day read more

First review I've made but I'm pretty upset. She dripped hot wax in my hair and didn't say anything just let it dry and let me walk out with it. There's a huge chunk of wax in my hair that I have tried to attempt to wash off. But I am staying in a hotel so essentials are limited. On top of that I have two different eye brows. read more

Stopped in for pedicure from out of town. The pedicure was rushed, my feet were not well scrubbed or exfoliated and in a few spots scrubbed too hard causing skin to be raw. If all of that wasn't enough I realized when I got home that the tip of my toe was cut. $35 of disappointment!!! read more

The woman who does lashes is very nice and she placed my lashes perfectly. Obviously I'm the one that going to be looking at my lashes all the time, so when there's a couple extra on one side, I find it very noticeable. Both of my lashes looked great and the lashes were placed really evenly. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I think the quality of the lashes are not very good as my lashes only looked good for a week. Hopefully they improve the quality of their products, so they feel better and last longer. read more

I came to this place in high hopes of getting a good set of eyelash extensions. However that's not what I got. I found this place on GroupOn, and said what the heck I've been wanting eyelash extensions forever I'll do it. The lady that attended me was nice. But I don't think she knew what she was doing. The area in where they had me seated was pretty gross, very small and it was so hot! Not to mention the area they had me laid on for about an hour and half was uncomfortable and hard. They kept their eyelashes stored in a small Nordstrom shopping bag... Anyways, I'm laying there, uncomfortable and hot and once she was done she has another girl come inspect the lashes I guess and the other girl ended up finishing them up for me and kept telling the previous lady that was doing them prior, something in their language. I finally get up and the inner corner of my eye is glued shut. The lady helps me open my eye up, hands me and mirror and I look at them and I'm like um yeah okay they look good. My vision is a little blurred and my eyes are super watery. I pay and walk to my car. This is when things go bad. I get in my car and notice I had some lashes glued on my EYELID. Umm I thought they were suppose to go on your lash line attached to your lash? I'm inspecting them more inside my car and as I'm blinking I see a few of the lashes falling off! I'm thinking to myself well okay they still look okay. I drove home and by the end of the day all the lashes were gone. I noticed she glued the lashes halfway on my lash. So not on my lash line to the lash. Waste of money and time. I wanted to go and complain and get a refund on my money but it was honestly not worth the trip. I never write a bad review. But I just had to say something about my experience here. I would definitely not recommend coming here. One last thing, I wasn't given instructions on how to care for the lashes or anything. read more

This was the worst manicure I have ever had! I called ahead to make sure that they had the CND Shellac brand polishes, as I have very thin nails, and I've found this brand actually works for me. They confirmed that they carried that specific brand. I went into the shop and they began the manicure (taking off my polish, cutting cuticles, etc). When she pulled out the base coat it was clearly not the correct brand. They reassured me that it worked the same as the CND brand. Unfortunately, that was not true, and it burnt my nails when they put my hand under the light/warmer. She then put on the coat of color (from the correct CND bottle). This is a color that I get very regularly (it is a bright pink/orange). When she put the color on my nails it was a dark burgundy. I'm not sure if it had a bad reaction with the off brand base coat or if they poured something different into the bottle, but something dishonest was going on. I asked them to take off the color, as I was very uncomfortable. When I was getting ready to leave (with no color on my burnt nails), they tried to charge me $25 for the manicure. I wish it was possible to give less than one star for this shop. I would not trust or support this business with your money! read more

Every time I have ever made an appointment here, I show up ready on time and they are NEVER ready for me. They expect me to reschedule or sit and wait a half hour even though I am on my lunch break and on a tight schedule.... thus the point of making an appointment in the first place. I went in for the first time to get eyelash extensions because I got a Groupon for it. The staff was nice when I called to schedule my appointment. I was nervous because I had never had eyelash extensions. When I was called back I was taken to a room towards the back that had a 2 beds and one of them looked like it had just been used and I was put on the other one. The technician talked on the phone for 10 minutes as I was laying down, which didn't help because I was anxious as to what the plan was, (how long should I get them, what size she recommended,...) and after she finally got off the phone she asked if I had extensions before and I said no this is my first time, so she says, "Ok I am going to do them medium sized and she began to do it. She never explained anything to me, did not ask if I had questions, just began. She was done in like 40 minutes which I thought was too fast because I felt like she was rushing. While she was doing them I tried to relax and enjoy the quietness and another technician is right next door to us talking for like 20 minutes straight really loud on the phone. It was very annoying! When she was done she told me to keep my eyes closed for 10 minutes while the glue dried and began talking on the phone for the rest of the time! It is very annoying and unprofessional because they talk so loud and fast in the language that they speak and it was just really annoying because I was just annoyed that talking on the phone was more important to her which is why I felt like she rushed through it. A day later lashes kept falling off and she never taught me to maintain them or keep them clean or what not to put on them she just said thank you and charged me. I would not go back to this place for eyelash extensions. Save your money! read more

I just left Edge in Style after getting my lashes done, and as usual I am extremely satisfied with the results. Every time I need to get my lashes filled, I am always greeted with smiles and welcoming attitudes from all of the staff. I'm a regular there, because of the top notch service I receive every time I come back. Tracey does quick but QUALITY work. I work graveyard, so when I see her for my lash and acrylic fills, her quick and top notch service is just what I need. I never feel like her services are "rushed". She's just that good! Why someone would want to spend hours there for services, when they can get the same, if not better service in half the time boggles my mind. The salon is busy, but they are busy for a reason... She is always very attentive with me, and advises me on how to maintain and care for my lashes. She also caters to how I want them to look. I have changed them up a few times, and each time she gives me exactly what I ask for. So glad to have found a place with such awesome people who work there. I asked the tech specifically not to cut the cuticles on my toes as I have had infections in the past from this. Not only did she proceed to ignore me and cut them anyways but she jabbed the little file under my big toe nail so hard that it hurt and I now have a painful toe which I'm praying doesn't develop into an infection. Came from Seattle for a girls weekend and found this nail shop on a whim after skimming Yelp during lunch at Nordstroms cafe. Needless to say I picked it because of the great reviews. I was not disappointed. My sister and I walked in at 5pm on a Saturday with no appt. and were able to get seated right away. The place is clean and the staff were super friendly. I got a shellac manicure and they had a huge variety of colors including the newest spring line. I was in heaven! My nails turned out perfect and lasted longer than any other shellac I have gotten. Terrible pedicure. I made an appointment but they had no record of it. Once in the chair I was kept waiting with my feet in lukewarm water. The girl tried to upsell me to a deluxe pedicure (including a paraffin dip, hot stone massage) for just $20 more (total of $45). Are you kidding? Other places include those options in their $25 pedicures. A "gentleman" was brought over to do my massage and was clearly rushing. He massaged both legs at once and totally misused the pumice bar, leaving my heels rough & my ankles scraped. It was also obvious that clients were not treated equally, as some had glasses of wine, while I was offered nothing. Never again. read more

They told me I could get them done right then and when I show up 5 minutes later they're completely full and 3 people ahead of me. I was eating in downtown Portland one afternoon and decided a manicure was a good way to continue with my day. Right next door to the restaurant I was at was this quaint little nail salon called Edge. They are always so busy yet the wait has never been more than 5 minutes! Mike and Tracy are my favorite workers there but you really can't go wrong. I've never made an appointment and they're so nice and accommodating to walk-ins and appointment customers. I was super disappointed by my last visit. I used to frequent this place all the time for manicures and pedicures and Mike always did an awesome job. Last time I went to get my eyebrows waxed (which I've done before with no complaints), the girl waxed off half of my right eyebrow!!! I didn't notice until I got home (I have permanent eyebrow makeup) -- she had not only waxed off half of one eyebrow, she did a completely sloppy job waxing the other. Instead she made comments about how faded my eyebrow makeup was and suggested I let her touch them up. After the horrible job she did on my brows I'm too traumatized to ever come back. read more

The lady Kelly who did my highlight color and cut did an excellent job! I had long dark brown almost black hair (I'm asian) and she got my hair to be the perfect light brown with platinum blonde highlights! Any and every other time I've had blonde highlights done they've been somewhat orangy or golden but she was able to get the color just right, I didnt think this was possible. Not to mention she cut off 17 inches of my hair and thinned and layered it to give me the perfect A-line-ish bob. I wont be going anywhere else! read more

It will be worth it for me to cross the river (a big deal for me) to have Mike do my nails. I am very picky, and he is very detailed and careful. One of the best asian nail/hair salons in the Portland area! The english is pretty good, not hard to understand. Very friendly. and when they are talking in Veitnamese they don't talk about the customers in a negative way as much as other ones in the area. The new owner (bought it in Sept. '12) really nice does a good job! gave good tips on how to keep good care of my nails between visits! One of the few places where I dont feel uncomfortable when getting nails done! the guys usually do the hands, women do the feet and hair. The new owner took good care of me and continually cleaned UNDER my nails as he was working on them! (pet peeve of mine when nail salons leave the gunk under the nail...) He continued to ask through out each step if things were looking alright, checking on the length,shape and thickness. Since I was a walk in and they had appointments coming in after me two people worked on my hands quickly but nicely to help make sure they kept their appointment on time! read more

First time I ever had my eyelashes and I wish I had gone to someone who knew what she was doing. She was on the phone twice while she was doing my eyelashes. The glue is so sick I can hardly keep my eyes open half of the eyelashes fell off within two days on one of my eyes. After showing up twenty minutes late to the appointment the lash lady was VERY unprofessional. Didn't say or ask me anything at ALL about what I wanted done/what she could do or thought THEN answers the phone three times to talk to her husband about her kids outfit for the day-_-...while I was drying she decided to stand over me and do her make up consistently bumping the table while I dry, then when I was done they barely looked different. So so unhappy. I should have know when it took her all of thirty minutes to do a full set. I'm so unhappy,Didn't even want to go back to get them fixed after they fell off, taking a lot of my lashes with it. Now I have bald spots and no lashes.
