Edge has been around for many years and is still the best local alternative to the dealer. I purchased an old (year 2002) BMW with low miles (66,000 miles) two years ago and took it to them for a diagnosis of a mysterious smell and cloud of smoke coming from under the hood. Quick diagnosis and a new valve cover gasket and back on the road in no time. Most recently I took my car back for the usual loose and worn fender liners. They pre-ordered the parts so that I could be in and out in one day. They also did a complete safety check at no extra charge and commented on two worn tires - all else was good! While this may seem like simple stuff compared to what some people go through with their cars, I am happy to report that a well maintained older car and a quality carrying shop like Edge are the magic combo for motoring pleasure! read more

I found this place after a fellow member of a forum had given their endorsement for a track alignment. Time is very important for me as I have little free time throughout the day and they were able to schedule me the day after I called. When I arrived, the office was very clean and I was helped immediately. The waiting area was nice, having little mobile desks that you can slide in front of your chair to get some work done. I took my car here specifically because they know how to align cars specifically for the track and after speaking to them we came up with a game plan and I was quoted 90 minutes for the work. After lunch nearby I came back and expected to have my car done within 30 minutes, however there was a technical issue with the alignment system so I ended up having to wait about another hour. I was updated along the way, and they apologized for the delay. When the car was done they gave me a before and after of the alignment and said if there was any issue with the way it was setup that I could come back and have it adjusted. I was buying some supplemental oil for the track and they offered me a free bottle since I had to wait longer than expected which I thought was a nice gesture. In short this is a professional shop, with very knowledgeable staff who clearly care about their business and my satisfaction, and I will be taking my car there in the future. Highly recommend to anyone who hates dealer service as much as I do. read more

Please check facts before posting on public forum -- I was told the initial inspection would cost some money and I did try to pay for the service- that according to you " hours of free service" -- if you need " hours to diagnose a failed smog test --you are in the wrong profession my friend -- all it needed was an obd1 to hook up and find error codes which i did and btw I still have the same car -- i fixed everything myself --why did I wait for 4 yrs -- well my review kept getting deleted . What is your point in posting my diagnostics . I am not debating the diagnostics , I am debating the cost of labor and parts and btw , if you ever error codes for 95 and below models feel free to come over and I will let my obd1 spend hours diagnosing the issue and I would charge. I have been going to this place off and on for 5 years. In one instance, there was a funny noise at the front driver side, that neither Concord BMW or Pleasanton BMW (the worst dealer on earth) could diagnose. Edge had it figured out within 2 hours. I brought my 1999 3000gt VR4 here for a 4 wheel alignment and the edge team definitely impressed me beyond my expectations. They were courteous with great personal customer service and professional employees. When my car arrived it was a little lower than expected and had a hard time getting up their alignment rack. The edge team quickly complied some wooden blocks and sheets and carefully pulled my car up onto their lift using teamwork to ensure that my carbon fiber lip and side skirts did not get damaged. Like the person under me if I could give them, not 6, but 10 stars I would. I was lucky to stumble upon this place. I was searching for a good place to get my car aligned because I have it lowered and on aftermarket wheels and it seems like a lot of other shops can't guarantee their work to be damage free. I talked to John about my worries of my wheels being scratched from the alignment and he assured me there would be no such thing happening to them. Their shop is amazing! Very clean and everyone is presentable and very respectable and funny to talk to. They have a lot of cool project cars all around their shop. So glad I came here and they were so nice to help me out when I was on a time constraint between school and work. They had me in and out within an hour or so with no appointment. Would recommend this shop to anyone for anything car related. They didn't overcharge me or try to pull any moves. They had the best service I have ever experienced. I dropped off my car that was suffering from a recurring electrical issue. I was told by my PREVIOUS mechanic that it was fixed, but after 2 attempts at repairing the problem with no results, I came here instead, to Edge Motorworks. They quickly and professionally diagnosed and fixed my problem, which was a couple bad sensors (not as described by previous mechanic), both of which were causing my issues. Once their repairs were made, the issue was fixed and nonexistent. (My other mechanic, not to be named here, didn't know what he was doing...) I highly recommend Edge Motorworks, even if you've "fixed" your car elsewhere. It's okay though, they continue to keep it purring. They are also good with explaining what my car needs and how to keep it in top shape. And they stand behind their work. I took my car here because my car broke down as I was driving on the freeway from Sacramento to the Bay Area. I looked at Yelp to find the nearest mechanic shop which was Edge MotorWorks. I was glad to find one near by with good reviews, and that service Nissans, so I was hoping to get the car in before closing time. However, my car could not make those 2 miles from where I was at without jerking and then giving up completely at accelerating. I had to get my car towed in after closing time and Mark was so nice as to let me park my car at their shop for the weekend to diagnose the issue on Monday. They performed a diagnostic that read 3 codes from the check engine light, and recommended I get my transmission and catalytic converter replaced. They also recommended to get the front engine motor mount replaced as well. I was shocked. I had just gotten this car 2 months ago from a used car dealership. They were also surprised at the same fact that this was a 2013 Nissan Versa experiencing serious issues. I contacted the dealership from where I bought the car and it was the total opposite customer service experience than what the employees at Edge MotorWorks strive to provide. They were really rude and hard to work with. They asked to get my car towed to their dealership in San Jose where they finally agreed to replace the transmission for $1300 (I gave $650 and the owner gave the other $650 that I will need to pay back) and free of labor costs. Prior to this, they were feeding me lies saying that Edge Motorworks probably lied to me to get money out of my pockets. Mark told me he would be more than happy to talk to the dealership to explain the issues the car has. Still, the dealership said the transmission was fine and just needed the cat replaced. After the dealership had the car checked with other mechanics, they then confirmed the car had a faulty transmission. I did not have my car for a whole month because the dealership kept going back and forth with me and did not have any knowledge on diagnosing the car's issues whatsoever. Now I finally have my car with a semi-new transmission installed by a Nissan mechanic from another dealer, and Mark said I could wait to get my cat replaced once I have the money for it, but to definitely get the transmission replaced in order for the car to drive safely. The car now runs well, but pulls a little for just a second when accelerating at a low rpm which I suppose is due to the inefficiency of the cat even though the dealership where I bought the car said they fixed it. It will be best to get that replaced which I'll do so in about a month once I finish the spring quarter at Davis. Although Edge Motorworks did not do any repairs on my car, they seem very knowledgeable, provide excellent customer and diagnostic service, and give you their honest opinion and recommendations. They care about their customers and get back to you in a timely manner. Thank you for having my back and for making this horrible experience not so bad after all. Edge MotorWorks is definitely a trustworthy place and I will try to come back here from Sacramento this summer to have them replace the cat. read more

I took my BMW '06 330i here for a starter replacement on one occasion and then again for valve cover gasket and oil filter gasket replacement. The shop does pretty good work. The prices are cheaper than the dealership, but still gonna cost ya. Price you pay for owning a German car and not being able to fix it myself. The reason I take this car here is because of their expertise and knowledge. I could probably do the work myself, but if I break something or diagnose it wrong, then I still have a broken car that will take me longer to figure out and fix, costing me more time and money. which is something I don't have being this is my wife and kid's main mode of transportation. read more

This is probably my favorite steakhouse in town. If you're going to splurge, this is the place to do it. The service is prompt but gruff, though I'd argue that's part of the rustic steakhouse feel. Our waiter, Mike, was able to give us some great guidance and was especially helpful for pairing beers with our steaks. Everything you've heard is 100% true and then some! Obviously the steak is the main event, and every time I go it's top-notch juicy and perfectly cooked. Don't skip dessert! The staff at Edge is grade A. After my e92 M3 went out of warranty, I entrusted EDGE with her well-being. They always manage to fit me into their schedule regardless of how busy they are. The M gets oil changes every 6-7k miles and these take no more than hour. They also have no problem taking oil samples mid-drain so that I can send them to Blackstone for analysis. We've called around shops in Stockton to see who can service it and people were either quick to get off the phone or would never return calls. With other cars and other shops in the past, if I had a problem I would take my car to a shop and bring the car back with the same problems; or new ones! If I could give six stars, I would. Went to them for the first time to install shocks and struts on my BMW. They were ridiculously responsive on the phone and via email, returning a quote in only a few hours while most other shops took days or even weeks. Derek was extremely knowledgable, and really listened to what I was looking for before suggesting the right parts. Scheduling was easy, as was the whole process of dropping the car off and getting a ride from their shuttle service. When they were doing the work, they gave the vehicle a safety check and noticed something that the dealer missed when they were working on it just a few weeks before.
