Right on the corner Park and Bloomfield, Efi's has a great location. Other places in town serve gyros, but we can always use another good one. Sadly, this isn't it. The tiropita, or cheese pie, was stale and had little flavor. The Greek fries with feta were mushy. And the main event? The gyros (I should've taken a photo) were laden with a sweetish sauce and had French fries poking out of them! When I asked for hot sauce, at first they said they had none, then brought me a little container of orange sauce that had no kick at all. I'm giving it three stars instead of two because the staff is friendly and eager to please, but you need more than that to succeed in a town like Montclair. read more

Such a good spot to stop at. This is a smaller mom and pop place with outdoor seating. Inside is basically a take out style layout, but it's always cool to see the rotating spits with meat grilling in the background. I got the chicken/pork platter (just ask for both) as my main. This is a real platter just so you know, not chicken and rice platters like halal guys. It was very, very good, I highly recommend. The Greek salad was also very good, but I wished it came with olives and other things typical to a Greek salad. It was more like a Shepard's salad, but still very good. So excited to be the first to review! I truly was starting to believe this retail place was cursed. Every time a restaurant opened up there were issues, or the food wasn't good, or just something didn't feel right. I think Avra is what they were missing. This fast food Greek spot has a limited menu but that's why it's so good. They're not trying to be something they're not. Being there for their opening week, I actually think the staff was overwhelmed at how many people were sitting outside and enjoying their food because I think the place is more advertised as a "grab and go." But the staff was so welcoming and the food was so fresh, you couldn't help but stay and enjoy. I got the platter, my husband got the rice bowl, and we shared a cheese pie. The platter gave a little sampler of everything which I enjoyed and my husband thought his rice bowl was hearty and well-balanced. The cheese pie is what ultimately won us over! I would actually give them a 4.5 if I could, the .5 just lagging behind due to portion size on the meat but unfortunately I can only give whole star reviews. Tried them 1st time when they first opened... excellent!!! 2nd and 3rd time ... bad to worst !!! Pita hard ... like it was grill an hour before they made my order. Gyro meat both chicken and pork not fresh ... sitting in the steam table too long. Tasted somewhat sweet ... terrible ... almost like eating canned meat. Greek Fries too greasy and nothing Greek about them (just regular fries) Rice pudding way to watery ... like milk with boiled rice added. I'm not sure why there are fries stuffed into the gyro but it was not a plus for me. Also, the "extra sauce" on my gyro was not nearly enough for a even a regular. Dry. The "Greek fries" consisted of feta cheese sprinkled on the fries. Not melted on, not sticking to... just sprinkled on top of (where they fall off completely when you eat the fry). Pointless. The fries themselves were like Burger King fries- more fried/processed than I enjoy. So the fries were not to my taste and showed up wrapped in the gyro and under an unrelated sprinkling of feta cheese. An overall C+ experience for me. read more

Wow, this place is fantastic! My wife and I are big fans of Greek food and this is about as authentic as it gets. I purchased some tiropita, which is something I often buy from other Greek establishments. But, the one here was lackluster. It was cold and doughy. There were aspects of the cheese infused with the dough that were not fully cooked. I called and the cashier was kind enough to refund me for it. However, I would not order this item again and I am hesitant on returning since I live far. I was so excited to try their tiropita, but it fell short. read more

This is my second time at Efi's. I ordered the grilled lamb gyro plater and waited 15 minutes. Order up and it's only a gyro. The person that took the order got it wrong. Waited another 10 minutes and got my order to go. I recommend that if you order a platter to go, make sure you ask to have each item in the plater placed in a separate box. This does NOT travel well. Oh my goodness. This place was absolutely delicious. Initially, the menu seemed a bit limited to me, but everything here packs a punch flavor-wise. I ordered the plant-based protein platter and I talked about it the whole day. Everything was so fresh and yummy. I like to try plant-based "meat" as a vegetarian, and this one was really impressive.
