It's been a few years since I've visited an Egg Tuck, not even realizing there have been more locations pop up outside of the Koreatown spot! But when I saw that they have breakfast burritos I knew I had to stop by here. They have kiosks to order and pay but if you want to pay cash an employee will come up to help. My only downside to the service aspect, even though the servers were super friendly, is that they aren't always "present" to help you. While ordering the Royal breakfast burrito, the description didn't say whether it had tater tots or what way the eggs would be cooked. Once my order was submitted a girl came from the kitchen and I was able to confirm both with her. Total for the burrito and an iced chai was about $18, the burrito itself being $12. Not a bad price considering the taste and quality compared to other locations. First up though, the ice vanilla chai was outstanding. One of the best chai based drinks I've ever had. Just the right amount of sweetness and spice from the chai and great milky flavor holding it together. Now for the burrito. To get the only downside out of the way, I wish there was more cheese. I didn't see or really taste cheese except for one end of the burrito but other than that, this thing is so damn good. Soft flour tortilla holding together fluffy eggs, crispy tots, soft grilled onions, and an amazing teeok-galbi short rib patty that was meaty, slightly sweet, and savory. It's located in the Westwood Village, so street parking can be a bit of a pain. Pro tip -- egg tuck is right across from Whole Foods, and you can park in that lot for free if you make a quick stop by the market! The restaurant is a small store front with a few tables. Folks come and go quickly, so it's not that long of a wait if you want to dine-in. There are also some tables if you want to stand and enjoy your food. You order via a kiosk and pay with card. It took about 15 mins to get our food. Really quick and efficient. Gochuracha royal west (+ avo) - 4/5. I really liked the flavor on this one! The Korean galbi patty had the perfect level of spicy. The fried egg was great, perfectly cooked whites with a runny yolk. I added avocado ($2) and that gave it extra creaminess. The one con is that the sandwich is pretty oily, which I assume is because you need butter or oil to toast the brioche. Egg tots - 3/5. This one was pretty underwhelming. It's just a fried egg over tots with some spicy mayo. I guess I should've known what it would taste like from the name, but I was hopeful I'd be getting something more...
