Ordered this for breakfast right before Fanime and it was a lukewarm and a bit pricy experience. We sometimes order Egg Slut right during AX for breakfast depending on where we're staying for the con, and I thought, "Why not?" for Fanime. Yeah...Doesn't compare to it's SoCal competitor. For our breakfasts we got the: 1) Eggy: -There's something similar to this at Egg Slut too. You dip the bread into the whipped rich egg whites and there's bacon and other toppings at the surface. Bread was dry and harder and you would have to use so much of the egg to make it palatable, let alone edible. This was unique and I was looking forward to it, so this was kind of a let down. 2) Waffle Fries: -Not that many waffles fries for what was paid, but not bad. Nice and seasoned. Slight crisp, fluffy on the inside. 3) Hawaiian Morning: -It's just an egg sandwich with a piece of span on the inside. There's arugula. It's not that special and was just okay. Not bad, just okay. 4) Mint Passion: -Sweeter than expected even with the adjustments. I think we had to toss this out after the con weekend since we had other drinks that were tastier from elsewhere and the mint was wilting in the drink in the fridge. 5) Americano: -Slight sour aftertaste. Boyfriend said it was just whatever and had to let a lot of the ice melt since it was a bit sweet too despite it being ordered at zero sweetness. 6) Black Sesame Latte: -Sweet but also watered down? I've had stronger tasting black sesame drinks, so this also was another disappointment. 7) Pink Supreme: -Guava, citrus, orange, and some mint. This was the best of the drink bunch and was refreshing. Good balance of sweet and tart. Unless I get invited by someone else I think I'm good.
I stopped by around 12:30 pm on a weekday and it was not too busy! The atmosphere is pretty calm and they play a lot of gen-z music which I enjoyed. The staff brought out my drink and food which was super kind of them :) But I noticed that they were out of the egghead salad and one of their other sandwiches :( also, I noticed that they ran out of arugula as well which was a bummer because I'm one to load up on veggies inside my sandwich. If you want to try out their popular picks, I suggest coming earlier, maybe during brunch! For my drink I ended up ordering the hojicha latte, which was perfect at 70% sweetness (not too sweet but didn't taste like straight milk since you could taste the hojicha). I suggest if you like sweet drinks you get 100% though, their drinks are not as sweet as other milk tea places. For the food I got The Scramble, which had scrambled eggs, cheese (I chose pepper jack instead of cheddar), caramelized onions, chives, and I also added avocados for an additional fee. I think that's the best scrambled eggs I've had in the world! It was super light, fluffy, and creamy. It paired wonderfully with the soft, buttery brioche bun! Needless to say, I will be coming back with my friends for lunch! Highly recommend trying this place out
One of favorite breakfast spots in downtown San Jose! The star of the menu is the Eggy, soft poached egg with bacon and folded in with a few scoops of mashed potatoes all served in a mason jar. The kids love to dip toasted slices of French bread in to sop up all the yummy goodness! There is no street parking since the light rail runs right in front of the downtown SJ location. There is an entire parking lot on San Fernando street which is only a few steps away from the front door! Update:there are marked spots for egghead in the parking lot across the street, those are spots reserved for egghead employees.
The food served at EggHead is very yummy and flavorful. I've had their "The Chic" and the "Breakfast Burger," and the size of the meat cuts were always generous. However, it can take a bit for the food to come out, and if you don't live in the area, you'll have to drive a bit to find a public lot or parking garage.
Great food and amazing service at this location. Never order from their website. When we order from the site and chose the current location (downtown sj) for pick up, the website change our pickup order to another place in capital at the confirmation screen. Their website ordering is a mess. Thankfully the employee at this location help us out and gave us the food after we show him our order.
Came here early for some breakfast and the service was really fast. I got the matcha latte and the scramble sandwich. I like that they have milk alternatives, costs $1 though. The matcha latte was okay. In comparison to other matcha places around the bay nowadays though, it doesn't really hold up in terms of flavor. I personally couldn't really distinguish a prevalent matcha flavor. The sandwich was good. Eggs were super fluffy and not dry, paired well with the soft and fluffy bread and spicy mayo. A bit pricey though. Overall a nice place to try out for breakfast. Not sure I would go out of my way to get it but if I'm in a pinch and nearby, perhaps I would consider going again.
Why would I pay for the large and it's the same amount of liquid, I also watch her pour it over ice when it's a no ice. Not only is it not fresh squeezed but it's diluted, and she told me it's to make it cold. I saw you take the bottle out of the fridge... this is the wildest scam in my life.
Came here twice before and had a decent experience, so I thought I'd give it a third time. Decided to get the Strawberry Matcha Latte again but with 70% sweetness instead of my usual full sweetness, alongside a BEC sandwich. There was a bit of a wait as one of the two workers had just left, but the remaining server was relatively attentive and delivered our food to our table which was something I didn't recall happening the last two times. The ambiance was relatively quiet as we came at a weird time so there was only one other customer there. I also think that I came in at a bad time because the table was a bit sticky. It was near the end, so I imagine that they were likely going to wipe the tables down once we were done. As for the food and drink, it was alright. The matcha isn't very strong, but the strawberry has a sweet, refreshing flavor to it. The BEC was standard - I don't normally get food with bacon, but it was the perfect level of hardness that let you tear it off easily so you wouldn't be stuck pulling the entire thing out on accident. Overall, a pleasant experience. Would return again.
Saw this place for breakfast and it reminded me of Eggslut in LA so was really excited. It did not compare unfortunately, prices are also a bit higher. We walked in and no one helped us at the counter as we wanted to pay cash so after 5 min we went to the kiosk to order ourselves. We got two sandwiches and fries which took over 20 min to come out. When we got our food it was room temp with cold parts. I also noticed the buns were toasted only on the inside and cold on the outside, I definitely think if they would toast both sides they would taste better. Fries were pretty good. Besides the cold food they also have a pretty good assortment of drinks that would pair well with the sandwiches. It is a bit difficult to find street parking in the area unless you want to pay to park at the parking lot. Good amount of seating but service and food wise there's definitely room for improvement.

I only got the coffee here since my friends were making a quick stop but it was delicious! I only like sweet drinks so they made sure to get me something creamy. I would come back on my own time! read more
As someone who is not from the area, I had high hopes for this place but it fell flat :// One thing I will say is that the place has a really nice interior and ordering is super convenient through the use of a kiosk. The wait was not too bad, even considering the fact that there was people waiting for online orders and seemed to be a short staffed kitchen. I will say that service is a hit or miss. Since ordering is through a kiosk, it is hard to get the attention of an employee since they're busy in the kitchen and they hardly come out to the register unless its to tend to online orders. On the menu, the drink and sandwich options looked sooooo gooood. However, it ended up just being okay. I ordered the Scramble with spam and a Brown Sugar Hojicha Latte. The Scramble (3.5/5): For a place that brands themselves around eggs, I think that was the most meh part :( It lacked seasoning or fluff. The sandwich is carried by the brioche bun, which I WILL give props for because that was easily the best part. It was soft/airy and sweet, which complimented the spam well. It wasn't bad, I just wish the eggs were a little bit better. Brown Sugar Hojicha Latte (2.5/5): I'm not really picky with my drinks, so I just don't know why this didn't stick with me. The drink was pretty watery, even though there was plenty of brown sugar. In addition, the brown sugar overpowers the hojicha flavor, so much so that it just tastes like you're drinking straight boba even when you mix it. I'm sure their other drinks are good, I just do not think this is the one for me. Overall, I am willing to try this place again. There was a lot of excitement for it and I still see the potential. I was SO HAPPY to see an Egghead pop since there aren't many bfast places in DTSJ. This location compared to the Cupertino location is similar in taste(YEY!) but different Vibez in a good way! This location had more seating, wifi and had a cute DT vibe to it! What I got: -The Scramble: SO delishhhh and a good portion. I had asked got some ketchup on the side since I like eating my eggs with ketchup. But honestly, the Sammy had so much flavor it didn't need ketchup. -The Hawaiian: I personally did not eat it. But my friend thoroughly enjoyed it! She really appreciated the arugula and spam combo! So unique. -Hojicha Latte Iced: If you're a fan of hojicha, you'll love this drink! All this to say I'll definitely be back regularly! And can't to get the chicken Sammy and tots. I definitely regretted not ordering the tots this time around. *cries* Oh and parking btw --- there's a convenient parking garage across the street. read more
Came by the other day for lunch and it was a decent experience. Attempted to order online and noticed a 20 minute prep time. Walked over to the shop on their 2nd day of opening and an employee with an Egghead shirt took my order. They take credit cards. Paid parking is available in city-owned or private-owned garages a block away. Employees seem to be opting for double-parking with hazard lights?!? in front of the shop. Password protected complimentary wifi is available. The chic sandwich was ready 20 minutes after ordering at the counter. The paper wrap had egg yolk residue which was different. There were a few super thin napkins inside the paper bag as well. The actual sandwich was quite tasty. Lightly fried chicken thigh cutlet with a super fresh brioche bun, medium over easy egg, arugula, along with some thousand island dressing. The sandwich was very filing for lunch. Dust bins were unavailable inside the shop. There were talented masked Gen Z staff that were able to help with the rubbish. ~$10 for lunch after tax. read more

I had no idea this location had opened already until my coworker told me she saw people inside so we all headed there this morning and turns out they just opened yesterday! We were able to walk in and place our order quickly. They have a rewards system so you just enter your phone number to collect your points. I had been previously to the Egghead location in Cupertino and the menu is pretty much the same. I got the C.B.E but because I'm not a fan of runny eggs I got them scrambled instead which was an extra cost BUT they give you 3 eggs making for a HUGE sandwich. The brioche bun was heavenly, so soft and fresh and the whole thing tasted amazing. I got the Passion fruit orange green tea and that was also really good, not overly sweet and super refreshing. This place is literally across the street from my office building so parking wasn't a concern for me but there is street parking and parking lots around the area. Yum! Ultimate sandwich was really good, altho it was definitely too much food. I didn't feel that the avocado added too much to the sandwich, but the egg was bomb. Tater tots was amazing. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. 5/5. Eggy is a good appetizer. I really liked the flavor of the egg and mashed potato. Hojicha latte is a must order for hojicha lovers! read more

Food was good. Was really put off by the cashier/service though. I placed my order by 2:25. I received my order at 2:41. She tried to pack it to go, and I said no it's for here. She's replies "um, we close in 15 minutes." Aka, at 3pm. I said, i waited 15 minutes for this, that's not my fault. Mind you I was in the ONLY person there. Sorry I've waited tables for 15 years, I would NEVER hint at someone that we were about to close DURING actual open hours. Bring on the robot cashiers I guess, cause this was not it. read more

came here for breakfast and left with lunch; came here at 10:01 and didn't get my food till an hour later. Not only that, but someone else took my drink because they forgot to mark it. Asked them to remake my drink, they asked what I got, and they forgot to make it again. I asked them again to make it, they asked what I had, they forgot, so i asked again. This happened two more times until I gave up and just grabbed whatever mystery drink was on the front counter. Food was cold and mid. If you are a cuck and enjoy getting a high on other people enjoying food from other places, this place is for you! read more

Got the Chic, it so delicious with juicy meat and crispy fried chicken skin. Wonderful sandwich and very filling. They offer free wifi as well! Stopped by later to get an Egghead Latte (Hot). It was just okay to me since I like my lattes sweet and milky but this latte was very strong with coffee flavor. It would be good for a busy workday. read more

Solid egg sandwich place with an aesthetic ambiance, and cute place for a date! I got the scramble with avocado and the hubs got the chic. We've tried this place a couple times at other locations (one of them is right next to us in Communications Hill), and the other in Cupertino, but we were never super impressed. My friend told me this location was the best so we decided to try it out. I ordered ahead and when we arrived it was ready (even earlier than I expected) and the service we received was great! The food: The scramble - the scrambled eggs were the best part of this, brioche bread was dry and could be more buttery and soft. Great with avocado The chic - good chicken, but the bread was dry and egg could use some more flavor. Tater tots - crispy, salty, and full of flavor! These tasted like McDonald's hash browns in tater tot form Black sesame latte - a drink version of Chinese black sesame soup, super delicious! Happy it was open on New Year's Day to experience for the first time! Efficient screen process to order & pay. Took 10 minutes to receive full order, drinks came at around 5 minutes. Breakfast burger was delicious, egg ooze & bun was nice and soft. Chicken sandwich was very crispy, a good sized chicken sticking out of the bun, and a tad spicy if you like good spice. Overall clean environment, kind staff, and good food. read more

Service was agonizingly slow as I wanted over 15 minutes for a sandwich, but damn it's probably the best breakfast sandwich that I've ever had. The chicken thigh was massive too -- half of it was sticking out of the bun. Maybe go somewhere else if you're in a hurry though. read more

We were very disappointed with our to go order. We ordered 2 scrambles without onions and mayo. After waiting 40 minutes and seeing people who came in after us get the sandwiches, we went to the counter to ask about our order. Miraculously, our 2 sandwiches and 2 tators were ready. We headed back to our hotel only to find that our food was cold and WRONG. We had onions and mayo and our eggs were soggy! I travel to San Jose frequently and I'm no longer going to come here nor recommend it. read more

Pretty decent sandwiches here. We ordered the BEC, the Ultimate Sando (with sausage), and the waffle fries. I think the Ultimate Sando is not on their menu on their website, which is a little weird. We found it while ordering on the iPad at the restaurant. We liked the BEC, but thought the Ultimate with sausage was only OK. (The sausage was a little disappointing in terms of flavor and size.) The waffle fries were pretty overcooked, so they were hard and tough. Service was a little weird. I noticed their condiment/utensil station was out of ketchup and asked someone at the front if I could have some. She did not believe me when I said they were out, and she wouldn't give me any ketchup until she verified the shortage herself. Unclear why they have a soft embargo on ketchup here. read more

Came here for breakfast since the menu seemed enticing and something different than the usual pancake waffle affair. We walked in from the rain, looked over the menu and saw the kiosk to order from. While that was no problem, we were not greeted at all or had little interaction. The food came out to about 30.00 with one medium drink and 2 sandwiches and an order of waffle fries. I don't mind paying that amount for pretty good food but I was kinda left wondering where the customer service was at. We had the: B.EC.- Good crunchy bacon, good bun, egg and cheese. Breakfast Burger- tasty beef egg and cheese. Orange juice- excellent, fresh and pulpy! Waffle fries- hot and crispy. I would visit again and hopefully we'll get a warmer welcome read more

Great location in downtown SJ! I came here for breakfast since I was walking distance from my hotel. I was a bit skeptical at first due to the reviews, but I wanted to still give a try. I did heed the other tips about ordering the sandwich ahead of time so that it can be ready for pickup by the time you get there! It did indeed take about 20-25 minutes for 2 sandwiches. I tried the Chic sando which I thought was sooo good because it was like a giant Taiwanese popcorn chicken, egg, arugula, and all inbetween yummy buns. The other sando was like a copy of Egg Slut but was not up to par -still good in its own way though. Overall the workers were very friendly, the ambiance was nice, the sandos were pretty big, and there was a good amount of seating available inside. I would definitely eat this again! read more

Located in DTSJ, I love coming here from lunch. I always enjoy the food I get here, and I love their hojicha lattes. I have a hard time finding places that offer hojicha, so I'm always thankful when I find a spot that has it! There was plenty of space to sit inside even during lunch hour. If I take people out for lunch, I often pick Egghead as my go-to spot. read more

This place was a hit for breakfast on a Sunday morning football day. We got there around 10 and it started off empty but soon enough the place got packed. Luckily on Sundays there's no payment required for street parking so we parked nearby and walked to the street it was on (which didn't allow any parking). The food took a while despite beating the rush, probably around 30 minutes or more to get to us. Not sure if we were skipped or what, but after 25 minutes of waiting I asked about our order and he had it ready within 10 minutes. That being said, the chicken sandwich is super super breaded in what I'd compare to a "Taiwanese-style" popcorn chicken batter. I thought it was soooo good, but I think it lacks a sauce or something wet to add to its flavor, or maybe some heat. Had to stop in for a visit after seeing how big and delicious their breakfast sandwiches looked on Yelp and I've already been again since the first visit. If you're looking for a fulfilling breakfast sandwich Egghead Sando Cafe is the place to go. The sandwiches are huge and they offer a wide variety that is sure to fit anyone's liking. For the first visit, we parked and went inside to order. It's downtown San Jose so parking can be kind of tricky but there is meter parking around the building. For a Sunday morning, we waited about 15 mins once we ordered and the line got even longer after ordering. There is limited seating inside and outside if you're looking to come and eat in. On the second visit to avoid the wait, I made a takeout order on their Yelp page. I bypassed the weight but the food was cold and tasted like it wasn't cooked according to when the app said the order would be ready. Kind of disappointing because the order ahead was so easy however these sandwiches are better consumed hot. Will definitely have to order takeout again to see if maybe it was just a off day for them. They offer a wide selection of matchas, coffees, and other beverages that I definitely wanna look into on my next visit! What I've had: - The scramble with bacon and avocado added - The side chick - really juicy and full of flavor - The chic - really cool take on a breakfast fried chicken sandwich - tater tots Honestly everything I've ordered has been really good and there isn't a sandwich I wouldn't recommend it just depends on what you like. The tater tots are AMAZING perfectly crunchy and everything you want in a tater tot. I really enjoyed them. The only disappoint for me is that there isn't a sandwich with scrambled eggs, bacon and avocado included so my sandwich ends up being $15+ which is a little hard for me to justify on just a breakfast sandwich. The bacon and avocado just make the sandwich so much better though...they are hard to pass up on! Overall, it's a super awesome breakfast spot in downtown that is different than other options in the area. I randomly found this place when looking for a breakfast spot nearby. Boy was this a fantastic find! I saw the pictures online and thought the sandwiches would be small, but I was wrong. The sandwiches are HUGE. I could barely even finish mine! Not only are they huge, but these were some of the best sandwiches my partner and I have ever had. I had The Chic - the chicken tasted like taiwanese popcorn chicken, but just one large giant piece. It was seasoned just like it as well. The other ingredients were top quality, and that house special sauce was the perfect compliment to the chicken. My partner had the breakfast burger. It tasted just as good, but we both agreed the Chic was the better of the two. I also had the Iced Cafe Latte as well, which surprisingly tasted really well. I was admitted apprehensive since it looked like this place was very sandwich focused, but their coffee was up to par with their sandwiches. The only thing I will say is that it took quite a bit of time to get our food. However, we did come as they opened so that might have been a factor. However the workers were nice, and the food was definitely worth the wait! You can't go wrong with this place! read more

I love getting breakfast here! I doordash a Ultimate Sando, a Hawaiian Morning (adding fried chicken), pink supreme, and a passion fruit orange green tea. I'm not too big of a breakfast fan because I can't eat too big of a portion in the morning but I inhaled my Ultimate Sando! It was just that good! We were staying at Hotel De Anza and I wanted to try a breakfast spot nearby. I yelped and found Egghead Sando and was impressed with the photos of other yelpers that I had to try. I was aware that the wait for my food may be long, but I did not mind since I wasn't in a rush. I ordered the ultimate sando and waited about 20 minutes. It was pretty good, but can get a little messy with the sauce and the scrambled eggs falling out while biting. I felt the sando was lacking texture, maybe onions would have added a nice crunch. Overall, if I am ever back here again, I'll definitely come back to try other sandwiches. read more
