There's no nearby parking so had to find nearby lot which cost $10 to park. We also ordered the following drinks: 2 strawberry matchas, 1 pink dream, 1 sunset drink & 1 cucumber green tea drinks. Food was ok. The side chick sandwiches had a big piece of chicken thigh meat instead of chicken breast so for me I didn't enjoy that dark thigh meat in a sandwich. Threw me off not in a good way. Breakfast burger was ok. Daughter said sauce was a bit spicy. The B.E.C was a tad dry. Good portion on the tater tots n waffle fries so you could share if you wanted. The non coffee drinks were good. The strawberry matcha was a disappointment. Lacked any sweetness... it didn't bother me much since I drink matcha daily but it lacked flavor. The fried egg and arugula were great touches on an already amazing sandwich. I came here over the weekend and our food took 50 minutes to be done. Saw the funny neon light sign so you know i had to stop by! It's in downtown so parking isn't super plentiful but you can always pay for the nearby lots. Was decently busy during lunch but food came out relatively quick considering the bread is baked fresh! Indoor and outdoor seating available if ya wanna enjoy your sandwiches on the porch if the weather's nice! The sandwiches are v large and can get messy bc of the egg, but that's to be expected. The grilled chicken was v flavorful and tender and complimented the toasted brioche and veggies nicely. The tots were plentiful but also $4.50 so definitely share worthy. read more

I love their Taiwanese take on a fried chicken sandwich. It's like eating taiwanese fried chicken in a sandwich format and it's quite addicting! Their other breakfast sandwiches are great as well. I would give this place a 3.5 star rating. The parking was a little stressful because it's downtown San Jose but there's a parking lot near the cafe (but I panicked and ended up parking a bit further away lol). The menu posted on the wall just showed the item name so I had to pull up the menu on my phone to see photos and a description. I know there was a paper menu but there was a line so we couldn't get to it. I got the chic sandwich and it was this giant slab of fried chicken in an American styled burger. It was good but I felt it was a bit misleading because the cafe name says sando. The chic sandwich was not a sandwich. I had a very disappointing experience at Egghead Sando (1st street) during the week of August 12, 2025. My group of three arrived at 9:00 AM and placed orders for sandwiches, tater tots, and drinks. While two orders were prepared promptly, I waited over 30 minutes for mine. Out of respect, my coworkers patiently waited for my food, and I eventually had to cancel my order. When I asked for a refund, the worker, Mike (later confirmed by the manager as Kyle), had no explanation for the delay and simply mentioned that they were processing several DoorDash orders. To make matters worse, there were three unhoused individuals inside the restaurant with their belongings blocking a portion of the entrance, creating an uncomfortable environment. The lack of organization and professionalism from the staff was evident. One employee was busy taking selfies instead of attending to customers while I waited, which further demonstrated a lack of attentiveness. As employees at a local business, we have recommended this restaurant to many customers in the past, but this experience has completely turned us off. I will not be returning, and I am requesting a refund for my canceled order. I left a message for the manager, Vin Ha, to express my displeasure, and he called me later in the week. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with how my complaint was handled. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, he made excuses for his employees and was untruthful about the credit card machine being down. I personally witnessed other walk-in customers placing orders and several DoorDash pickups during my visit, which contradicted his statements. I ordered seconds after my coworkers, yet my order still failed to be fulfilled in a timely manner.The manager did not offer any apology or attempt to remedy the situation, leaving me feeling ignored and undervalued. This experience has greatly impacted my perception of the establishment's customer service and management. Despite being loyal customers for years, we will no longer support this restaurant. I sincerely wonder whether the owner is aware of his employees' and manager's actions and the level of unprofessionalism displayed during my visit. It is disappointing to see such behavior, especially when loyal customers have had positive experiences in the past. I hope the owner is informed so they can address these issues and improve the overall management and customer service. I love Egghead to death and have been rocking with them since the Cupertino location, heading there almost 3 times a week and so when they announced they would be in downtown so close to my house I was very excited! Numbers 19 through 25 and I'm starting to get impatient due to seeing customers who just walked in getting their orders. I calmly give it another 10 minutes since my girl is telling me I should give it some time. 30 MINUTES GO BY STILL NO ORDER Then someone from the back comes out and asks for our receipt I gave it to him and says "it should be coming out soon." Me and my girl look to each other and didn't even want the food anymore for waiting so long while everyone's enjoying their orders. He then goes to the doordash aisle and ask if this is our order and it was there the whole time and said there was a mistake. I look at the time it was ordered and it was sitting there for 30 minutes with staff not even checking that area. Food was cold and to make matters worse they charged me for bacon and I didn't get any in the cold ass Sandwich that's been marinating for 30 minutes. Was so excited to see them open a location in downtown. The decor has a very industrial coffee vibe. Very spacious with indoor seating and patio seating. Street parking available. Came here for lunch on a weekday and was pleasantly surprised there was no wait. I've been to the Cupertino location (which has since moved) which was always such a nightmare because it was so crowded. Luckily my experience at this location was great! Attentive service and food came out quickly. Ordered the scramble, tater tots, and a mint passion. The tots were super crispy! I saw this place had high rating and I love breakfast sandwiches. I made my way down running errands in the area. The interior is modern, stylish and spacious. It's so spacious that you can even see through the kitchen. The lighting is just right for the comfort of the eyes giving it a sense of calm in the place while dining. Bathroom is in the back hall where it's shared with other businesses. The place is located on First Street where there isn't any street parking. The nearest garage is diagonally across and the rate isn't cheap. For cheaper parking, the public parking garage is 2 blocks away. This place is alright. I'd give it 3.5 stars. I got The Chic with scrambled eggs. I like the way they cooked the scrambled eggs because it was a soft scramble. The bun was nice & soft which was pleasant. As for the chicken it's basically Taiwanese fried chicken that you get from your local boba shop. I'm giving it 3.5 stars because there were weird pieces of tendon and fat in the chicken which made me lose my appetite :/ The latte was okay, nothing special and it had plenty of ice. Idk if I'd want to come back but if I did I would skip out on the latte and try a different breakfast sandwich. TLDR: THE best egg chain has made it's way up north to Santa Clara! I first tried this delicious place in LA, maybe 5-6 years ago? I loved this place, and was sorely lamenting the fact that there wasn't any up here. Unbeknownst to me, there are actually 3 stores up here now! One is a bit far, the other is in downtown (I almost never go downtown), and the third is in Rivermark! The eggs are the best. I love how runny it is, even after I brought it home from take-out, about an hour later! And the fries and tater tots were also still super crispy! The chicken is for the most part juicy as well. This time, I ordered the Hawaiian. It's spam, eggs on a brioche bun. The eggs were super runny (which I love), but it made the sandwich super slippery. That's partly my fault, because I didn't want arugula to desecrate my sando. But I think the veggies are needed to provide some rough texture so everything isn't all slip n sliding all over. I think putting a small toothpick would totally solve that problem. I am a super fan of the place back in LA, and I'm a fan of it here! This location is located in Downtown San Jose in a street where there is no designated parking, only loading zones and the light rail, however, the other corners nearby have street parking so it's literally less than a 5 min walk over. Love the luminating sign outside that says "Everyone Loves Egg (Icon) Head" and the inviting outside windows. Their menu is located on the wall, but up front, at the register, they have a laminated menu with the actual description of each item. Here are the items my friend and I ordered: *FOOD - The Chic Sandwich: SOO good! The chicken filet was so tender and juicy inside that it surprised the heck out of me! It's flavored really well too and the fried part wasn't too much was more like an Asian Style fry like Taiwanese or how they do popcorn chicken at Asian Boba places. I've tried this place 4 times overall (split between their old Cupertino location and their new place in the Rivermark) and it's just gone downhill from when they first started. First time that I ever had it, it was awesome. Every subsequent time, it's just gotten worse. I always get their Chic sandwich (everything normal) and there's just no flavor at all, and it leans on the dry side. I could see only barely a dusting of the flavored powder here and there so almost every bite is just bland fried chicken with the occasional bit of flavor (the egg barely adds any flavor nor moisture). The portion of chicken itself is definitely large, but trying to struggle through a large, fairly dry, bland sandwich is no fun. The waffle fries were solid though. And prices are reasonable. Our go to spot in DTSJ. So happy EH opened up down here. We would drive to the one in Cupertino. My fave is the Chic' and B.E.C., OJ is always fresh and sweet. The employees there have been nothing but nice and suggestive. Weekdays are flowing, weekends I order ahead because the line builds up. If you can eat there while it's hot, I recommend. I've been eyeballing this place for a while now every time I'm in the downtown San Jose area, but never got a chance to try them because they usually close at 3pm. I often get into town just before dinner time, but today I was finally able to stop by and try it out. I walk in about an hour before close and check out the menu. The first thing I notice that is rather disappointing is that the menu is just scrambled, fried or poached eggs. "Sando" is the Japanese way to say sandwich, and typically a "Tamago Sando" or Japanese Egg Sandwich is made with a Japanese mayo-based egg salad. There are also many delicious variations on this. Some with egg salad and a soft-boiled egg or "onsen tamago", some with ham, cheese and egg salad, etc. There is unfortunately no such thing on the menu anywhere, yet there are tons of nods to Japan, like matcha lattes, hojicha lattes and the literal name of the restaurant. It's not as if they HAVE to serve egg salad, but it is a bit of a let down once you find out that they don't. Again, the restaurant isn't completely devoid of anything Japanese, but it just feels like the place misses the mark a bit IMO. I had the literal egg salad, which again, was just scrambled eggs topped with cheddar on an arugula salad with a few salad toppers and dressing. It was certainly tasty enough, but nothing groundbreaking and rather unimaginative. You also wouldn't really find this anywhere in Japan I don't think. Again, for a place that has so many obvious nods to Japan both in the name and many of the beverages, it just kinda falls a tad short of what one might expect. Another thing that made me give this place a low rating was the service. After I looked over the menu, I walked over to the front counter where I could see two workers in a back area sitting down and just chatting away about nothing in particular. I stood at the counter for well over 5 minutes patiently waiting to be noticed, and the workers were clearly able to see me from where they were sitting and chatting since there was a window like area to see the front counter where they were. I'm not at all against people socializing at work, as long as you're professional and take care of the patrons first and foremost. I finally said, "excuse me", and one of the workers came around and my order was finally taken. No apology for making me wait though. When the tip screen came up I even tipped 10% on my order. When I was given the ticket to wait for my order, I looked over all the tables in the place to sit down at, and every single one was dirty. They were either stained & sticky or covered in crumbs and bits of egg. The place only had one other person seated, so it wasn't as if they were too busy to clean either. I also had the brown sugar hojicha latte which was brought to my table along with my salad. I'm a huge fan of anything hojicha and the latte was probably the highlight of my visit, so well done there. As I was eating my salad though, cue a third worker sweeping the floor and talking LOUD AF on the phone and on speakerphone no less. I could clearly hear both the person on the other end of the phone and the worker as if the patrons were an afterthought. That may not bother some folks, but to me it's unprofessional and inconsiderate AF. Bottom line, I didn't pay over 20 bucks plus a 10% tip just to be mostly ignored, sit at a dirty table, and be well informed of the drama going on in one of the worker's lives via phone conversation on speakerphone. There was a 4th worker who brought everything to my table and they at least thanked me for stopping by after I was finished and leaving, but that was the absolute least that could've been done. In the end, someone higher up might be able to crack the proverbial whip to tighten up the level of professionalism and the thoroughness of service (e.g. making sure tables are always clean, workers aren't self-absorbed & disruptive during service and also attentive to every guest regardless of whether it's busy or slow), but the menu is still something of a let down as well so go figure. Either way, there is little incentive for me to return unfortunately. read more

The poached egg did not have a runny yoke, which was sad. Also it said it came with baguette, but it was actually French bread. I know it cuts down on dishes and staff, but I was disappointed that all of my things were in to go containers and plastic when I got for the restaurant.
