Having recently visited Korea, I was excited to try this Korean Egg sandwich shop in La Jolla. Parking was easy on a Saturday morning and there are lots of EV charging spots right outside. There's seating inside and in a semi closed extension. The bacon hash brown egglet sandwich was delicious. The eggs were fluffy, the bread was buttered and grilled really well and the sandwich was fresh and piping hot. We also ordered a ham and cheese egglet sandwich but this one was not as delicious as the ham was a bit cold in ours. Overall, the quality is very good at Egglet, you can tell they are passionate about their craft. I would definitely come back for a bacon hash brown egglet sandwich.
What a nice find in La Jolla. Appears to be a relatively new spot nestled in the shopping center strip mall. Great location if you also need to charge your Tesla EV, as this restaurant spot is next to a bank of chargers. We were looking for a breakfast fast casual place to eat in the morning before driving home to LA and stumbled upon this in the yelp search algorithm. The menu choices were fairly extensive ranging from sandwiches, salads, burgers, and hash brown potato sides. We ordered two sandwiches: Ham and Egg, and Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. Along with one salad. Plus two coffees. You can order through a touchscreen kiosk, which they have two stations available, or you can walk over to the in-person ordering at the other end of the counter. One recommendation I would have for the owner is to customize the touchscreen ordering menu to allow for a checkbox that says "no cheese". My wife didn't want cheese but there was no way to indicate it when ordering through self-service. We had to ask the staffer to hold the cheese and she wrote the change request on the ticket for the line cook to follow. We observed at least four or five consecutive customers needing the same modification after they ordered by self-service. Maybe they can update their menu ordering system with this "no cheese" option in the future so the poor staff person doesn't have to manually adjust the ticket every time! Sandwiches are quite large! If you're not that hungry, you might consider sharing a sandwich. It's loaded with folded scrambled egg with a nice amount of cheese, and nestled between two slices of soft chewy bread that holds the massive amount together somehow! The salad was also nicely prepared and had tasty hints of truffle Parmesan. The owner/staffer lady was super nice and friendly and very enthusiastic and high energy as she called out completed orders, and helped even bring the food order to your table too in many cases. Solid place to grab a bite! Bookmark it if you're a local!
The Egg Double Cheese Egglet and Truffle Hash-Brown were amazing! The bread is Korean so it's really fluffy and has a sweetness to it. The eggs melt perfectly with the cheese inside the bread. And the hash brown had a delicious crunchy bite to it. Unfortunately the matcha tiramisu latte with soy milk was too bland for my taste but the food more than made up for it. Even my picky parents agreed that the food was delicious
Loved this place ! Was super easy to order - on a screen. Service was quick and staff were polite. Ordered the Double Sausage Egglet and the Ham and Cheese Special Egglet. The sausage Egglet was good but the Ham Egglet was delicious! Really enjoyed the meal And would come back again for breakfast.
I came here on a Wednesday morning around 11 AM. You place your order at a register and pick it up at the counter. There are tipping options even though you're ordering and picking everything up yourself and even throwing away your own trash. The tipping culture is getting insane. I did have to ask the cook behind the counter what they recommended and to clarify a few menu items. I ordered the: *Triple Hashbrown Special Egglet: you can add extras, like bacon for $3.50 or ham for $2.00. I added ham, and the total came out to $16.15, which honestly feels high for what is basically a fast, casual breakfast spot. The eggs could've used more seasoning, there was no salt or pepper available at the counter, and the toast wasn't very crispy. The ham was nothing special, but the portion was large and could easily be split between two people. They do give a sauce to go with it, but it would've been nice to get two instead of one. *Cold Brew: it's decent, and you can add brown sugar for $0.75. Mine came out way too sweet, but they did give me extra cold brew to balance it out. Food came out in under five minutes. They have a self-serve station for condiments, napkins, and utensils. Staff were kind, and the place was very clean. Overall, service and speed were great, but walking out spending about $25 for a breakfast sandwich and coffee feels steep, even for California.
Food is so good and tasty. Not too salty and a great blend and balance of flavors. I got the toast sandwich with hash browns in it. it is super filling. The owner is very friendly and treats the customers so well. We've been back a couple times and I will continue going when I don't feel like making breakfast. Kpop playing in the background on the TV. Very nice to sit inside or on the covered patio area with friends while eating.
The Baseline: For a breakfast/brunch cafe the food must be hearty/filling/satisfying for the early morning, there must be a mix of sweet and savory to fulfill that brunch/breakfast need, and service must be a welcoming start of your day experience. Food: Had the double egg and cheese sandwich. Really good preparation of the scrambled egg and the brioche bun was well toasted and the cheese was well melted. Good sandwich. Service: Order kiosk and the staff prepped the sandwich quickly. Friendly and welcoming to the cafe. Ambiance: Some indoor seating but it had a big patio. The Tesla Chargers are right outside so this is a great sandwich if you are here for a morning Super-Charge.
Eggs are the quintessential breakfast food and Egglet makes it the star of the show. They have an incredible list of egg sandwiches and on my visit I opted for the double sausage. The eggs are fluffy and the slices of toast are pretty thick too, so you're in for a hearty meal regardless of whichever sandwich you choose. They even come with a nice sauce that is slightly sweet. The staff makes things to order so you do get a nice piping hot sandwich too. And the ordering system from their kiosk was easy to use. A little pricy for a breakfast sandwich, but definitely worth a stop if you're looking for a hearty meal to start the day.
We have been wanting to try Egglet sandwiches for a while, so we are super excited to finally visit it this morning! The store is super cutely decorated with egg themes. The ordering is done on two kiosks that you can easily browse the menu and see what the items look like. Their main dish is the "egglet" which basically is a Korean style egg sandwiches. The egg inside is scrambled eggs. The toast is sooo good! We really love the egglet. The hash browns are okay. I am not a fan of the seasoning on there, but some may like it. Although it's pricey, it is easily shareable for us when we order their combo. It's great to have a good breakfast place in the UTC area.
This was quite expensive as an egg Sando place but I think it was quite good. The 3.5 star is my actual rating but I give it extra for the service and the special sauce they give you. The orange juice was ok and wouldn't get it next time. Total Cost for two egg sandos and a juice $35
We wanted something quick and casual for breakfast and this was a good find. They serve their whole menu all day. I would say for the amount/quality of food, it's priced mid-range but it's also La Jolla so prices are typical of the area. Overall I would come here again if in the area. Korean BBQ burger- the soft, sweetened large ground meat was delicious. Salad- enjoyed the spring mix w egg and bacon for protein w a sweet, citrus dressing on the side. Egg, bacon sandwich was pretty good.
Tried this spot once, and I think that might be my last time trying them. I saw someone in the reviews mention that the bread to egg to protein ratio was off, and I agree. But another thing was just how bland my sandwich was. I ended up adding their sauce to it, along with some from home and cheese. I think the lady taking our order got confused and marked no cheese on both sandwiches. SMOKE BACON SPECIAL EGGLET ($11.79): The egg was fluffy, the slaw was good, but I feel like the bacon was one piece cut in half. MAYBE 1.5 pieces. Overall, I feel like this could have been made at home. DOUBLE SAUSAGE EGGLET ($10.59): So this was on us for thinking that the sausage would be "American" style instead of hot dog sausages in the sandwich. Again, nothing to really write about.
We came here on a Saturday morning around 10a. It wasn't too crowded. They offer a variety of egg sandwiches as well as burgers if you'd like a burger. The place has both indoor and outdoor seating. There are only two people working so if you go at a more crowded time, it might take some time to get your food. We ordered the ham and cheese special and made it a combo with monster truffle hash browns + orange juice. The monster truffle hash browns was SO GOOD. If you visit, you have to get this. The ham and cheese special was a little mid. It was lacking in flavor. For a place known for their sandwiches, this was a little disappointing.
I am such a huge fan of Korean-styled sandwiches, so I have been meaning to try Egglet out. We ordered the Truffle hash-brown special and the smoke bacon special. Both items were phenomenal and quite distinct from your typical breakfast sandwiches. Despite the fact that they have salty/cheesy toppings, the sandwiches also had a hint of sweetness to them. The bread was also very delicious and tasted moist (very far from dry, unlike most bread in sandwiches). The eggs were quite fluffy and moist as well. The sandwiches are quite large, so they are also great for sharing! We picked the sandwiches up, so they were at room temperature when we ended up eating them. I can only imagine how delicious they are when they are served fresh and hot. I would definitely recommend checking out Egglet--especially to those who are breakfast sandwich lovers!! read more

I tried this Egglet for breakfast. I chose the Blaze Shrimp, it has over medium Eegg, grilled shrimps, caramelized onions, cheddar and sharp parmesan. My order came out quickly. I check my food to see if there's a good amount of shrimps and yes there's really a good amount of shrimps inside. A bit greasy but it was a good sandwich. But Pretty small size for 1 order. It didn't fill me up, so next time I will order 2 sandwiches. Lots of parking and tables inside . Staff are quick making the food orders. read more

The staff is super sweet and regularly checks in on tables, even though orders are placed at the front counter. The sandwiches are large and SO FILLING! I ordered the smoked bacon special, which could have used more bacon, but had fantastic cheese pulls. I also tried the ham and cheese special, which offered a nice balance of sweetness from the brioche and saltiness from the ham. Definitely coming back again! read more

Their sandwiches are pretty good, albeit a bit greasy. I like the aioli that they use, since it balances out the rest of the savory food pretty well. Their fresh orange juice definitely tastes fresh, but it's a bit overpriced, given how little juice you actually get. The truffle hashbrowns are some of my favorite things from this place, and are pretty addicting. I have to get at least 2 hashbrowns every time I go. They're crisped to perfection, and have a generous amount of the toppings. read more

The ham and cheese special toast really hit the spot, packed with plenty of fluffy eggs. I did find myself wishing the slaw-style veggies were sliced thinner for a better crunch, but the sweet jam on the side was a pleasant surprise. With a fresh-squeezed OJ, the total came to just under $20 with tip. A bit steep for a regular visit, but definitely enjoyable as an occasional treat. read more
I'm a sucker for breakfast sandwiches and love to see places like this pop up that specialize in it! I've seen a lot of churn in this location since I was a student at UCSD here and am glad to see them change it up a bit to something that can cater to a different meal time than lunch/dinner that is already nailed down by the other restaurants in the plaza. Staff was friendly and on top of keeping the place clean. Prices are a little loftier than I'd like but I know its hard these days with inflation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I wish they would open one up closer to me but I think my wallet would be unhappy though my stomach definitely would be. I had the Truffle Hashbrown Special and can't wait to come back and try some others! read more
They have their own little side parking lot and there's plenty of space inside to sit! There's QR codes on the tables but those seem to be solely for online ordering? You can also order at the front and they explain their items - the workers are really nice. It did take a while for the egglets to be made - around 20 min. I've had pretty similar sandwiches in Korea and these definitely compare! In fact these are more packed full of stuff but have similarly sweet flavors like those in Korea. We got the truffle egglet and the hashbrown egglet and both were delicious! I would definitely be back to try their other items! read more

I quite like egglet! I think that the concept of savory egg sandos is executed well at their restaurant, and the few times I've been the food has been tasty. I got the Triple Sausage Egglet, the bread was light and fluffy, the sausage was savory, and the eggs were sweet. The actual restaurant itself is very aesthetic as well and the servers are very nice. Liked it! Would return. Hashbrowns: you get three, which is a lot for their size. Strong truffle. 9/10 Egg triple cheese special egglet: way too big for me but it was good. Very cheesy. Maybe a little bit too salty. Brioche is really good, it's the perfect slightly sweet that complements the salty sandwich. Took off two points only because I personally thought it was too heavy/unhealthy. 8/10 Smoke bacon sandwich: husband really liked it, no complaints. He said 8/10. The food was pretty good! I just wish it was more savory than sweet, but I suppose that's just my preference. The egg is perfect not overcooked and the bread is soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the edges. There's a restroom there and plenty of seating and parking. read more

Cozy little spot for breakfast sandwiches that taste just like the ones in Korea Food: We got the bacon egg toast and sausage egg toast. The sauce is on the sweeter side and it's delicious. Egg is fluffy and the toast is soft. It's quite filling. A side of hash browns come in three which ends up being a better deal than adding it as an add on to the toast. They're fresh and crunchy like how they should be. The Parmesan seasoning adds a nice touch to it. Orange juice is freshly squeeze and delicious Service: They have self order kiosk or you can order with a cashier and you pick up the food when it's ready. Kind of like McDonald's but better Ambiance: Interior is new and clean. They have a lot of seating inside and in the covered patio area. Parking is easy to find. This new Korean sandwich spot is tucked away in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. We came on a Saturday morning at 10am and it wasn't too busy. We ordered at the counter and then seated ourselves. There's indoor seating and a covered patio with heating lamps. We got the smoke bacon egglet, double sausage egglet, and truffle hashbrowns. Everything came out piping hot and fresh. The brioche bread is fluffy and a little sweet. The eggs were cooked nicely. The portions are big! The hashbrowns were amazing - very crispy, and not overly oily. They add a truffle seasoning that is often overwhelming but they went light on it, so it was perfect. There is ketchup and hot sauce to add onto your sandwiches. I was hoping that the sausage was either an actual sausage or something with a bit more flavor. These taste like the hot dog buns you get at an Asian bakery. They're ok, I just don't love the texture, and can be a little deceiving if you're not familiar with these in Asian pastries. I've been to Egglet a few times already and never had problems until last Tuesday. Found a long piece of hair (too long to be acceptable in food but can very well be men's or women's hair) standing upright in my sandwich which means it was squished in the sandwich and was there for awhile. I normally am okay if it's a smaller piece since my parents own a restaurant, I totally understand the frustration of things falling into customers' food. However, I am not okay with their customer service lol. I first called them about the situation in a calm tone and asked them if there's a phone number I can text the photos to since this is unacceptable. They didn't sound apologetic or offered me any solution on the call and told me I can text the number I was calling. So I did. And I got ghosted. There was a read receipt but they never responded, never apologized, and never offered me a solution (eg. refund, partial refund, a free sandwich, ANYTHING). I was not in search of a refund or anything but what I was looking for was accountability and customer service that I deserved, but I received nothing from them. So I went to the store the next day and talked to a couple of employees there in a calm and civil manner, who btw were nice to me and told me their manager is aware of this and will be in touch within days. A week went by, so I called them to check in. All my calls from my phone number went straight to voicemail today. So I believe I am blocked. Blocked for being a customer, and for bringing up issues that come from their food that they cannot handle. They clearly do not value customer experience with them. I wasn't angry about the situation, but mostly disappointed that this is how I am treated and how I genuinely liked their sandwiches before. I don't think anyone else should go through what I went through, but pls do what you want with this review. :) read more

I was extremely excited to try this place (as I often charge my vehicle right by it in the morning). Everything smelt and looked amazing when I took the take out this morning. When I got home and bit in to my smoked bacon egg sandwich the longest most disgusting hair is what I bit into. I was the first customer of the day and not sure if I'm going to go tell the guy that made my food (he was the only one there) but the $35 I paid was not well spent. ***update*** After sending offline feedback via direct message I never heard back from restaurant/manager so unfortunately customer service is non existent as well. Really surprised folks never replied at all. I just happen to see someone else had an experience with hair in it like I did on Google reviews weeks later. I charge my Tesla in that location frequently and have only been here a few months now but I will be informing fellow Tesla superchargers members to "not" go into restaurant as there is a public health and safety issue in addition to no one taking accountability after 2 customers in 3 months that have reported the same issue. read more

The staff are extremely kind and friendly and the ambiance is clean and simple. However, they cook everything on one small grill so it takes a while to get your food. Was excited to have a Korean egg sandwich spot in SD! We came on a Tuesday morning around 8:15 am and there were a few people sitting outside. My sister and I shared the smoke bacon special and it was HUGE that we didn't even finish it. It's loaded with toppings, the bread is crispy yet fluffy, and the eggs are soft, but the bacon was okay and was more of a ham than a bacon. Service was friendly and fast despite there only being 2 workers. read more
Came here on Sunday around 10 AM with my mom. This place is in the same strip mall as Vons, SDCCU, & Leucadia. I ordered the double egg sandwich and my mom ordered the ham & cheese. Why is this place so good? I'm not sure what they do to their eggs and I'm not really a breakfast or brunch person, but I do like this place. Parking lot is pretty spacious and easy enough to find a spot. Service is friendly. It's a small nook in the plaza with very cute egg decor. They also have a kiosk where you can make your order. * Truffle hashbrown - I think one of my favorite food items here. Something about the truffle powder they sprinkle onto them is addicting * Truffle hashbrown special egglet - super delicious. I enjoy the hashbrowns a lot by themselves though, so I would prefer to get the hashbrowns on the side. * Smoke bacon special egglet - the best one in my opinion. The sheared cabbage gives it an interesting taste and texture that I enjoy. I liked this one more than the triple sausage which was also great but very meaty per bite. Their eggs in general are super fluffy and the egglets (the bread maybe? Or the bread and egg?) have a twinge of sweetness to it? I liked the savory/sweet balance. The only thing stopping me from coming here is the fact that I'm health conscious and probably shouldn't be consuming this all the time. It's quite heavy and sometimes oily. read more

Love that a new small local business came in instead of a chain restaurant to this spot. Tried it twice now and makes for a hearty breakfast. Not gonna lie the food can be a bit heavy but it's something different the neighborhood could use. I Love the freshly squeezed OJ and their crispy hasbrowns. Second visit it was quite busy - I don't think theyre used to the level of demand. So I do recommend calling in your order ahead of time if you don't wanna wait too long. This is a New restaurant in the area and still working out the kinks. When we went, there was no toast for the egglet sandwiches. I was not keen on the double sausage sandwich. If I had known it was not American sausage but rather hotdog meat, I would have chosen something else. Otherwise, the sandwich itself was tasty. Note: the hash brown option could come without truffle oil so we asked for without which was a plus. Tastes just like the one at McDonald's. Different observation: hash browns came in a quantity of three. If we had known, we would have ordered one vs two orders of the hash browns. Had 6 total amongst just the two of us. read more

Whoa!!! I have never been here before and the lady at the register Wena was so helpful and recommended the truffle hash brown special since I mentioned i don't eat pork. She stated it has turkey sausage and that it was popular. She did not disappoint! That Egglet was so good. And they have a signature sweet sauce that is out of this world. The price is reasonable for the magic that is created in this particular egglet. It is not a sandwich it's an egglet. I will be returning to this place. i honestly give this place a 10/10!! the food is SOO GOOD the customer service is beyond amazing. the place closes at 2 and people came in ordering the owner or worker didn't say anything about it's closing time and it was 5 people. he was super nice about it. the sandwich's are a must my fav one is the one with the arugula and the coffee is good not perfect but good with the food read more
