We overslept and missed the breakfast hours at our hotel - oops! While searching for brunch spots, I noticed that Eggs 'n Things offered a waitlist join-in option via Yelp, so I decided to go for it. It seemed like the most efficient option. Once we arrived, the host quickly walked us over to our table outside. 'Auntie Jo', whose personality shines brighter than the sun, promptly arrived to greet us. She did an excellent job explaining the menu and offering great recommendations for our kids. [Ambiance] diner-style setting decorated to align with its surroundings - tropical, Hawaiian vibes. [Food quality] I chose the protein plate with chicken sausage and fried eggs. Unfortunately, I didn't like it. The sausage was too greasy and sweet for me. Full disclosure: I usually skip breakfast, so it might've been too heavy for me. My stomach didn't agree with my meal, and it left me feeling slightly nauseated. Overall: 3-stars. Despite the disappointment with my meal, the atmosphere and service from Auntie Jo were excellent. When I first arrived, I had to check myself in, which was a little off-putting, but okay--when in Hawaii! Within five minutes, my table was ready. I ordered the Loco Moco with fried rice and extra gravy. Out of the 30 or so different restaurants where I've had Loco Moco, this was by far the best. From the first bite to the last, I felt like I was in heaven. The waitress and server were super nice, and the whole experience was a delight. I highly recommend this place, hands down. P.S. She gives Eggs n' Things a whole new life. She was one of the highlights of our trip and we returned to Eggs n' Things every morning to see Joanna (and Mochi the rooster). Now, the food. My toddler devoured the silver dollar pancakes, and the perfectly spiraled scrambled egg in the center was a delight. The omelet with bacon, cheese, and spinach was on repeat all week, it came with the crispiest potatoes, or if you had my husband's order, came with the fluffiest pancakes. The coconut syrup tastes refreshing and light with the pancakes. Their extensive menu offered a bit of everything breakfast related and there were many winners on the menu. We sat on the patio, with the morning natural light peeking through. And Mochi the rooster marching around entertaining my toddler. First time trying this place at the Kapolei location. Was torn between ordering the Local Style Fried Rice or the Volcano Burger. Went with the fried rice. At first glance it looked great. Large portion with 2 over easy eggs on top. However. The rice was overcooked for my liking. It was a little on the mushy-er side. I'm not a fan of fried rice that's mushy. Just my personal preference. The flavor was good. Nothing major. The meat they used which I think was Portuguese sausage was also a bust. A bit over cooked as well. It was hard and tough to eat with the rice. Tried the apple crepe which was just okay. Tasted like they used canned apple pie filling for the topping. Service was excellent. I think the manager was who took care of me and my friends. He was very cordial and friendly. Overall it was nice to try but if I do go back I will try their Volcano Burger. I will be going back before I leave Oahu! Only open until 2 PM so get there early. Additionally make reservations or put your name on the wait list. Not a large location. You will not be disappointed. Our group had breakfast which was amazing! I had the Special omelette w/Portuguese sausage, mushrooms, green onions, & pepper jack cheese! It included potatoes. It almost covered the plate. With the potatoes the plate was full. My friend got the bacon & cheddar omelette & he couldn't finish it. You get a choice of sides with your omelette: potatoes, pancakes, or toast. The ladies split an omelette & pancakes, they did not finish theirs! It is a very quaint diner. Only about 30 to 40 indoor spots. The outside wasn't currently open due to weather. The staff were so nice & our drinks never got close to being empty. This restaurant has a nice, casual atmosphere with friendly staff, nice indoor and outdoor seating, and very fast service. You want to make a reservation to make sure you can get a seat. The outside area was coated in birds who feasted on remains the moment people left their tables, but they didn't take away from the experience because they didn't bother us and were cute. For drinks we ordered the Pog(pineapple, orange, and guava juice) and cold brew, which were very good. Drinks came out immediately, and food came a few minutes later. We ordered the whipped pancake sampler(blueberry, strawberry, and pinneapple) and the rainbow pancakes. Everything was presented beautifully, but we were disappointed by the fact the the pancake sampler was just topped with fruit rather than being fruit flavored. However, the pancakes were thick, fluffy and delicious. Both of our dishes came with three pancakes and lots of fresh tasting fruit on top. I was full after two pancakes and I thought the whipped cream with macadamia nuts on top tasted delicious, but my sister said it was the normal canned stuff. The table was set with maple syrup, guava syrup, and coconut syrup. Ordered: Mac nut pancakes (five large, fluffy, soft pancakes with generous amount of Mac nut) Guava, pineapple, and original pancake syrup had wonderful flavors without being overly sweet. During our stay at Aulani, we walked across to street to eat here at Eggs 'n Things for breakfast. We liked it so much that we ended up coming here twice! All the food we tried there was delicious! Portions were huge and the price was very fair too. Way cheaper (and tastier) than eating the mediocre and overpriced food at the resort. They have a wide variety of menu items, with a Hawaiian twist. Think kalua pork, loco moco, macadamia nut syrup, guava, etc. My daughter especially liked the Honu plate on the keiki (kids) menu which came with bacon, eggs, and pancakes. My husband enjoyed his loco moco and I especially liked their jalapeno bacon fried rice. The portions were so big that the two of us were full from just sharing one entree. Service was decent. If you want an authentic Hawaiian breakfast you'll want to get the Loco Moco, which is a ground beef patty with sautéed onions mushrooms in a savory gravy sauce with eggs over rice. Talk about comfort food, it's so good! I've had a lot of Loco Moco and they make some of the best I've had. I prefer it with plain rice over fried rice. We also got the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict which was super good and it came with crispy breakfast potatoes. It was perfect. We got that over the Crab Benedict because the Crab Benedict is fake crab not real crab. The iced coffee cappuccino was very good, with slightly sweet but strong good espresso/coffee taste. Went to eat breakfast here and had the fried rice and eggs. Sorry I don't have any pictures but it was a big portion and it was delicious. They have indoor and outdoor seating. This place isn't very big so you have to get there early and you also have to pay for parking if you are not already staying at a hotel near by. My husband ordered their breakfast burrito and I ordered chicken sausage with scrambled eggs and upgraded my side to banana pancakes. The eggs were cooked nicely just the way I like them. The banana pancakes were really good! They were moist and more on the dense fluffy side which I love. A mountain of whip cream sat on top with macadamian nuts sprinkled on top as well. Lots of savory and sweet options to pick from, a notable one being their malasada pancakes which are good for an individual or sharing. Fried goodness with a tasty sugar coating.
