I got all horny for eggs after reading Yelp reviews while staying at The Palace. I walked over at 6:30 am but the lights were out (burners on) so I suggest to the owner adjust your hours on Yelp or find someone who can get the truck up and running by 6am. I ended up walking a half block to Lex where husband and wife were bright eyed and bushy tailed. Their food was about what you would expect from a typical street vendor. No complaints. read more

This is a slightly overpriced Mexican food cart specializing in breakfast and lunch goods. I went with their Chorizo, egg, and cheese which is usually American but I substituted it (for free) as if I'm going to pay that much, I might as well get actual cheese. The egg on there was fine while the chorizo was cut up into very tiny pieces. The good thing was that it was spread around it well but the bad is that there was the lack of snap/crunch from it. It was also a lot less spicy than I expected it to be which I'm surprised at but there were some good flavors. While I prefer the traditional Mexican food carts more (due to price among other things,) it is this area. It's Midtown East on Park Avenue so if you don't expect a breakfast sandwich for cheap. Nice staff here also. The ratings here are accurate for the area, low/mid 3 (if it was anywhere close to other better carts it would be a 2.5 at most.) read more

YUMMMMM! I ordered up two California burritos and asked if we could also throw in potatoes and mozzarella, to which the wonderful lady said, no problem. She was also willing to provide takeout containers of delicious, authentic-tasting hot sauce. These burritos made our day. They were hearty, filling, and so well-flavored, with the ingredients perfectly blended and seasoned. I don't know why, but I've never noticed this truck before on Park Avenue. More than likely it's because I am running away from all the people traffic on every corner. There are so many office buildings on Park Ave. so the lunch rush is intense. The lines for food trucks are just as lengthy at times. Today I got lucky and a bunch of folks already ordered and were just waiting. The "eggs" in Eggs Travaganza caught my eye. I love eggs...I can eat it any time of the day. However, after reading the menu I opted for some Mexican fare. (Already had scrambled eggs this morning and I was thinking I wanted steak). So instead of steak and eggs, I went for the carne asada (steak) platter. Each platter comes with salad and rice. Then you can choose between hot sauce, cream sauce, or guacamole or all three if you want. I went for the cream sauce and guacamole only. The steak was cooked medium well, some pieces were a little chewy but all had a good flavor - grilled and nice color to them. I didn't think to ask for medium rare...just ordered it as is. (Could use some onions...would've helped to tie the flavors together). The salad it came with was good, the dressing already tossed in, it was a light oil and white balsamic mix (contains cheese). The rice sadly was too overcooked for my taste. Consistency was mushy and just too soft. It did have a lot of ingredients going for it so instead of a 2.5 star rating, I rounded it to 3. The corn, carrots, peas, lima beans, and green beans was a nice variation on the usual plain yellow rice. It was flavorful, just too soft. Now that I know the truck is there, I may return for something with eggs...probably should've on this visit but my eyes floated to the Mexican fare menu. I'm a fan of food trucks in general...they rule the midtown scene for sure. read more

Honestly this place deserves to be a solid 4. I guess it's a bit pricey for this kind of food, but freshness, quality, and the service make it worth it. Also the cost matches that of food around it. I relocated from Texas where you can get bfast tacos anywhere basically and Id say this place hit my breakfast taco craving. Tired of hot bars specializing in blandness? So am I. Fortunately, I can satisfy my breakfast cravings at Eggstravaganza, a food truck located on the NE corner of 52nd and Park. The common themes between everything I've tried here: great taste and freshness. Eggstravaganza is consistent and has a wide offering of wraps, rolls, and tacos to choose from. I've ordered the classic meat, egg, and cheese sandwiches as well as wraps from their 'power breakfast' menu, which takes the ingredients a step further (avocado, grilled mushrooms and onions, etc). They're quick and polite, too! While the amount of food you may get for your buck leaves a bit to be desired, Eggstravaganza makes up for it in quality. If you love eggs, you really cant go wrong here :) They've got a pretty extensive breakfast menu going and even have GF tortillas! It's a great quick stop on the way to work. Surprised to see that this food truck doesn't have more stars! I'd say this place is a hidden gem of the midtown area, especially because the food in the general area is rather boring. The truck is located northeast corner of 52nd street. Went there around 1:30 pm and didn't have to wait at all. There are plenty of space nearby for you to sit and eat your lunch. There are also many other fantastic food trucks nearby. Food: I had the Steak Burrito. I really didn't like any part of the Burrito. The meat was pre-cooked and reheated had a funky oily smell and had no seasoning. Rice was very mushy. Burrito came with corn chips which were extremely salty. The chips reminded me of salty theater popcorn. They are probably good in breakfast items as their name highlights Service: quick Price: if the food is bad then no matter how much you pay it is over priced. I've been meaning to try this truck ever since I read about it on Midtown Lunch. This truck is well known for their breakfast sandwich varieties, particularly their "mexican style" grilled cheese. I finally got up early enough to see what all the hype was about and i definitely was not let down!! When I showed up (around 9:15am) there wasn't a line at all, but by no means does that say they don't have a huge fan base. Apparently they weren't at their usual spot yesterday morning and everyone in the area had a freak-out... On to the food, the mexican grilled cheese did not disappoint. Breakfast is always a good thing, breakfast off of a truck is an even better thing... but i can honestly say this square of greasy amazingness is one of the best breakfasts under $5 i've had in a long time. The cheese is nice and melted, blended with chorizo and tomato and placed between two, 7 grain slices of perfectly buttered bread. To boot, the couple that works the truck are 2 of the nicest people you can find at such an early hour of the workday... I got the taco campechano for lunch (one chicken taco, one steak and one chorizo) for $8. The wait was around 10 minutes since there were 2 or 3 people before me. I could imagine it getting really slow though if there's a ton of people waiting. The chorizo taco was spicy and tasty, the chicken was succulent and tender (by far my favorite) but the steak was too tough and sometimes charred around the edges. I enjoyed the meal though and it was definitely filling. I'm excited to try more dishes like the Mexican Grilled Cheese. read more

I had a Mexican wrap from this truck. It had eggs, chorizo, and potatoes in it. For $5 it's a bit on the pricey side, but I wouldn't have minded if it actually tasted good. It was super bland even though they put hot sauce/salsa in it. I may give one of the other dishes a shot if I come across this truck again. This review is for their lunch. The short version of this review would be "mmmmmm!" No wait, "MMMMMM!!!" There. That's better. I went in thinking that there was no way a $5 wrap could not only be filling, but also be delicious. And I was wrong. By wrap, they pretty much mean burrito, even though they have a separate burrito item on their menu. But whatever, not important. The food is delicious. Chicken, vegetables, rice, and lots of green sauce. All cooked, and wrapped up for you. And then smothered in chips. For five bucks. Quite the deal. I didn't even realize it was going to be so big going in, so I got a taco as well. The chorizo taco is cooked and served with homefry-esque potatoes, and is good. Then it too is smothered in green sauce, and served. Sort of a cross between a breakfast taco and a normal taco. Brunch taco? Awesome! Possibilities for 5 stars are there (needs more originality, meats), but currently, 4 and 4+ is fair. But if you're in the area, check it out. read more

The winners are the egg sandwiches (unsurprisingly), and Mexican grilled cheese (YUM). The losers are the tacos. The shell is soggy and dry at the same time, and the meat tastes dry and low-quality. It was bad enough to keep me away from this place for a few weeks. It is hard to spend more than $7.50 here. They have never been that busy when I stop by, but you can call your order in ahead of time. They're very friendly, and on nice days, there is some outdoor seating in nearby office pavilions. I actually went out looking for this cart after trying to look for breakfast food. This cart isn't the easiest to see as it is a bit tucked away and isn't as blingy as some of the other carts, but OMG does it deliver on amazing food. I ordered the Mexican wrap because I heard a lot of other Yelpers recommending it. It was 5.50 (I think) and about the size of your standard 10" tortilla shell. Note that it does get made right away, so if there's a ton of people there, you may be waiting for your deliciousness a little bit. The Mexican wrap was amazing. It's the perfect balance of flavours and really sets itself apart. It's not really overwhelmingly covered in salsa or hot sauce, and really blends well. I also had a bite of the "Park Avenue" and I found it kind of plain after having the "Mexican". While New York City is covered in street carts waiting for your business, Eggs Travaganza is definitely one of them that you should give a chance. read more

Went here this morning after not having gone for a while. Thanks to a Groupon I was all set to get 2 steak and 2 chorizo tacos when I spotted a new menu item: shrimp and egg tacos. Apparently it's something they're testing out. Normally seafood at a street cart would give me pause but having had their chorizo tacos before I didn't stop to question the offering. They were solid had good flavor and while the seafood taste came through it wasn't overpowering in a bad way. Coupled with the chorizo tacos it made for a great start to the work day. A perfect breakfast cart. The lines alone is confirmation that this place delivers on its menu promises. I went with the Mexican wrap mainly because I was feeling the need for chorizo in the morning. A rarity for breakfast in NYC, they fill the wrap with such wonderful flavors in the potatoes, eggs, chorizo and hot sauce. The southwest wrap gives it a nice touch. I read about the grilled cheese sandwich on multigrain bread loaded with tomatoes, chorizo and bacon and added this cart to my "to-eat "list. 5 months later, it was more than worth the walk from 8th avenue in 40 degree weather. There was no wait, my tomato was freshly sliced, no sitting around in some dodgy container. And even after the 15 minute walk back to my office, my sandwich was not one bit soggy. The chorizo makes it spicy and smokey, the bacon was sliced so there are nice sized chunks of bacon in every bite. The two people working were very friendly. Got the steak and egg taco and the chorizo with egg taco. Both were pretty good, but BLAND! Make sure you get some extra green sauce on there, because I don't think they put any salt on the egg as they are cooking it. For a food cart, this isn't necessary a cheap lunch either. In a city full of $5-6 falafel and halal carts, you could spend about $10-12 to get the same quantity of food comparable to the other carts. I recently boosted this place twice looking to use a GROUPON that they had advertised and each time I received a different reason for why they couldn't value the promotion, THAT I PAID FOR AHEAD OF TIME. now I'm from New Jersey do unless I'm already over here it's quite a hassle to get back in the area, and cost me extra cash pet train, so to walk up to the truck enthusiastically wanting to taste some breakfast just to have the owners carelessly shrug their shoulders and not even pay their customers attention is sad. The omelette I had was very oily and did not taste like the ingredients were very fresh. I wasn't in love with the service either. The woman was very sassy and it was not as if there were many customers and she had to go quickly, I was the only one there at the time. One redeeming quality was the price.
